Is it safe to remove the .fpj files?

In RH9, using Source Control 3.1.

Trying to bring in the subjects of several other projects. Somehow, we managed to get all the files you want in the project as that shown in

RoboSource

Windows Explorer

But when we try to open the project in RH9, none of us can see the topics we introduced other projects. To do research here in the forums, we opened a few fpj files in these folders and saw they are scrambled.

There are dozens of these cases, we would prefer not to have to change them manually.

So, long story long, is safe to delete them - they will rebuild when the project is reopened?

Hello

When you create a file in RoboHelp, the FPJ is part of the XML structure used by RoboHelp to manage and track topics. I think that RoboHelp will become terribly confused and corruption project will follow if you start to delete the FPJ.

See you soon... Rick

  • Safe to remove the foreign file under \users?

On my Win 7 Pro system, I created an administrator account on the computer (MyAdmin) in addition to limited accounts that are used on a daily basis.  For some reason, my C:\users folder has not only a MyAdmin folder (and files for other users), but a folder with the same name followed by a period and the name of the computer.

My computer is called "Whale" and I have the following files in C:\Users

    Default (hidden folder)
    LimitedUserOne
    LimitedUserTwo
    Public
    MyAdmin
    MyAdmin.Whale

In Control Panel / users, I see only MyAdmin (not MyAdmin.Whale).  Similarly, in the computer management / users, there is no list of MyAdmin.Whale

Is it safe to delete C:\Users\MyAdmin.Whale and all of its subfolders?  Where it comes from in the first place?

    Here you go:

    1. Log in as MyAdmin.
    2. Click on the Globe to boot, type the three letters cmd and press ENTER.
    3. Type the following commands and press ENTER after each:
      Set userprofile
(This shows you the folder for the active profile. Which one is?)
      dir/a "c:\Users\MyAdmin\ntuser.dat".
      dir/a "c:\Users\MyAdmin.Whale\ntuser.dat".
(These commands will tell you when the profile folder last used)
      ren 'c:\Users\MyAdmin' MyAdmin.NotInUse
(This command renames the MyAdmin folder to something else. It is an intermediate step and all safe. You can permanently delete the folder in two weeks if all goes well).
Also - you burn and test a repair of Windows CD? If you have not then you must do it now, before you start playing with the system files. If you don't then will not be able to repair Windows in case he refuses to boot normally.

Is it safe to remove the old updates in Windows Vista?

    Generally, no.

You can use the program compcln.exe to remove the Service pack files and to perpetuate a service pack, as described here:

    http://support.Microsoft.com/?kbid=2592038

    This program is in C:\Windows\System32

You can uninstall the updates that have been replaced by a later update, but I don't know of an easy way to identify them. I don't think that in doing so, there is a great advantage.

If you uninstall an update that is still necessary, he will be released the next time that WIndows Update is running.

My hard drive is currently filled by PC DM files in my folder/Public user folder.  How can I safely remove the right files in this folder?  Vista Home Premium 64 bit is my os.

    Hi templar_39,

DM (Message Delivery) file types are not Windows files, they can be generated by a third-party program.

This particular file type is often associated with audio data and can be hosted on some cell phones to be used as ringtones or multimedia clips. To my knowledge, these files can be generated by your mobile phone.

Note: you can go ahead and remove these files only if you notice that the files do not contain any important information.

If this happens without connect you all devices (like mobile PHONES), this may be a virus or malware activity. You can run a virus scan to get rid of them

Step 1: A scanner online for any threat and try to correct

  • I have to remove the duplicate files, but having problems by selecting more than one file in the player at the time.

I have to remove the duplicate files, but having problems by selecting more than one file in the player at the time. How can I select multiple files at the same time so I can just delete them. I used to be able to do this in previous versions of Media Player, but this function seems now blocked or unavailable. The problem is this: through previous use of media player, it plays all my multimedia files several times whenever a device support has been added. He would try to save the files on my main drive, but since there is not enough room this would save the files somewhere else. This happened several times, I suppose, because when I upgraded my computer and a media scan was conducted he found duplicates of all my media various times of at least 6-8. I've consolidated since my plates on 3-disc multi to, but have now records duplicated hundreds and thousands of duplicate media files. Previous versions of Media Player would allow me to select all files and then delete them both of the reader, but also from my hard drive. So now I'm stuck with more than 300 GB of duplicate media I have to search line by line through all my hard drives to find each duplicate both, unless I can get media player to do what it can. Any help in this area would be appreciated.

    Hello

    1. did you of recent changes on the computer?

    2. is Windows media player files in double creation during playback of music files?

To delete duplicate entries, click on another feature tab in the drive (for example the current playback), and then click library.

If this does not remove duplicates from your library, you can use the Add to library dialog box to search computer to analyze a file on your computer the duplicate entries not valid-pointing. The player will remove invalid entries in your library that point to files that no longer exist in the folder.

Complete the steps above for files that are stored in the hard disks.

Method 1: Use the add to Library dialog box search for computers

    (a) start Windows Media Player.

    (b) press F3 on your keyboard to open Add to the library of the find computers dialog box.

    (c) click the Browse button to locate the folder on your computer so that your library contains invalid entries. Specify the location of the folder in the box look in.

If you are not sure what duplicate in your library entry is not valid, you can add a path column to display in your library. Specify the folder on your computer that corresponds to the path not valid file displayed in your library.

    (d) click on the Search button.

The player will search for digital media files and playlists in the folder that you specify and remove invalid entries in your library that point to files that no longer exist in the folder. If not valid in double entries point to other folders on your computer, repeat this procedure, specify a different folder every time.

If only a small number of duplicate entries exist, you can delete those invalid manually by right-clicking on the invalid entry, and then clicking Delete .

For large double-number of entries in your library (or if all your library is duplicated), it might be better to create a new library and delete the files.

    Method 2:

After you remove the duplicate entries, run the troubleshooting of Windows Media Library settings to solve this problem.

Open the troubleshooter in Windows Media Library

  • Can I configure to always remove the master file?

    Hello!

If I want to delete a file, I just remove it the cataloge, but to remove the master file, too.

If I use the button Delete, I get (boring) pop up, I want to do: (sorry, I have a German version, so I just try to translate)

    • Remove the hard drive
    • Delete (default selected)
    • Cancel

Is it possible to avoid this dialog box? Or at least a chance the preset button, so I just have to use the Enter key?

    In fact, I have to

    1. Press DELETE
    2. Press the left arrow key
    3. Press enter

It's a little boring and errors

    Thank you very much!

PS: I just discovered, that ALT + DELETE is a shurtcut to remove the file from the catalog. It would be greate to have a similar shurtcut to delete the file in the file system.

Alt Ctrl Shift DELETE. But use it with great care, if use you it at all.
