Is my current version of Firefox?

The installed version of Firefox is showing that 10.0.2 on a 64-bit Windows 7 HP computer. Firefox said it is up to date. Is this correct? It has been installed for more than twelve months and no update have been installed according to the history of Firefox update. Thank you very much.

If he has problems with the update or the permissions then simpler is to download the full version and trash the version currently installed to do a clean install of the new version.

Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the file on the desktop disk image (dmg)

    • Trash the present application Firefox to do a clean (re-) install
    • Install the new version you downloaded

Your profile data is stored in the Firefox profile folder, so you will not lose your bookmarks and other personal data if you uninstall and (re) install Firefox.

In the left column, click Extensions. Then go through the list on the right. Anything ad-associated or related to blocking?

One of the changes in Firefox 42 title adds a blocker follow-up in private browsing windows. What type of filtering can be confused with an adblocker.

When anti-suivi is enabled, a new shield icon should appear on the left end of the address bar. You can use this icon to make a temporary exception to the site. Or you can disable the feature of anti-tracking as a test.

This article contains more information on where to find this setting in the Options page for private windows: Tracking in private browsing Protection

If you have activated the anti-tracking for windows, which must be disabled by using a different approach:

    (1) in a new tab, type or paste Subject: config in the address bar and press enter/return. Click on the button promising to be careful.

    (2) in the search above the list box, type or paste follow and make a pause so that the list is filtered

    (3) if the preference privacy.trackingprotection.enabled is in bold and 'game of the user' for real, double click to restore the default false value - you can use it in windows private as long as privacy.trackingprotection.pbmode.enabled is set to its default value true

  • Is the current version of Firefox Compatible with Windows 10

Windows 10 due for release July 29, Firefox will be compatible

If all goes well, there will be no problem. Some people are already using Firefox with Windows 10 pre versions.

It should be a 64 bit version of Firefox for Windows available later this year, but until then the standard 32-bit for Windows Firefox is what should be used.

You can also check if Firefox has a non-standard connection setting? It's a way to alter apparently valid sites. You can do so here:

"3-bar" menu button (or tools) > Options > advanced > tab mini network > button "settings".

The default "use system proxy" should piggyback on your Windows/IE 'LAN' settings. But you can try 'No proxy' to see if that makes a difference.

  • Why is the current version of Firefox on my laptop 6.0 and my office worm. 3.6.20?

    Not a problem, just curious.

No he is not separated for laptops and desktop computers.

Just Mozilla has not yet turned on 3.6 to 6.0 update notifications. I don't even get this possibility today (and for the last few days) when I manually "Check for Updates" on 3.6.18 / 20 in the Help menu. It is difficult to update everyone using all versions of Firefox in a single day or even over several days, there is only so much available bandwidth.

  • After update, why I'm still getting "You do not use the current version of Firefox" on the start page?

I am sure that I have updated to version 8 hours ago because when I look under "About Firefox" under "Help" it says "8.0.1" under the logo, and further down, "Firefox is updated." I tried to restart the computer, but the message won't go away. Something goes wrong with the update, and if so, what should I do?

I assumed that you use always the default value of old Firefox home www.google.com/firefox/ which has not been used in more recent Firefox released for a few months now, and Google is no longer updating it. Either ignore the message or change your home page in tools-> Options-> general

  • I get the message that I'm not on the current version of Firefox, but when I try to download the latest version, it tells me that I already have the latest version. What is going on?

Instead of just having the icons and be able to hover over them to see what they are (in which case I forgot), toolbar Firefox displays the icon and name - that takes a lot of space on the toolbar, and not all my icons show. Can I change this? It's annoying to not to see all the icons in the Yahoo toolbar, I want to see either the icons of my shortcuts only - or I want to shorten the size of shortcuts tab, so I can show several of them without shortening the tabs at the top of the page.

    Try this extension.

  • Why can't Norton Identity Safe compatibility be integrated into the latest versions of Firefox? IE seems not to have problems with it.

Firefox constantly asks me to upgrade to the latest version, which is not a problem as long as the new generation is compatible with applications that I serve throughout and rely on every day. I use the 40.0.3 version and it wants me to update to 41.0.2. If the Norton Identity Safe toolbar work with my current version of Firefox, what is the compatibility issue with a newer version of Firefox? IE does not appear to have this problem of update... which makes me consider the switch back to IE as my default browser. I rely on the Identity Safe to take care of my connection problems, and there is no need to deal with problems of incompatibility. I know I'm not alone in finding this aggravation with updates. (I use Win7 Home Premium, 64-bit).

Sorry, this is a change in the types of code Add - ons are allowed to include. It was supposed to change in Firefox 40, but at the request of vendors such as Symantec, it was postponed to 41 of Firefox. I don't think this change will flip over. Norton is working on a new version, but I understand that it takes longer than expected.

Here's what I suggest for users who need Norton password security features:

Instead of freezing your Firefox on a non secure version, consider using the Extended Support Release (ESR). It is designed for businesses that require a cycle time longer between changes to the features, but anyone can use it. ESR is currently based on Firefox 38. It will get updates of security over the coming months, but not to get new features, so changes in Firefox 41 concerning the compatibility of the add-on will not be out for a good time.

Norton is likely to continue to support the ESR until the new toolbar update is finished, maybe next month. After that, I don't know what they will do because normally they don't take over a small range of versions.

If you decide to try it, here's how I suggest to install:

    Clean reinstall it

We use this name, but it isn't about deleting your settings, this is to ensure that the program, files are clean (not incompatible, corrupt or exotic code files). As described below, this process does not disrupt your existing settings. Don't uninstall NOT Firefox, that does not need.

    (A) download a fresh Installer for Firefox 38.3.0esr of https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/organizations/all/ in an ideal location. (Scroll down your preferred language).

    (B) the release of Firefox (if any).

    (C) simply rename the program folder, either:

    (Windows 64-bit folder names)

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox

    TO

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Fx41

    (Windows 32-bit folder names)

    C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox

    TO

    C:\Program Files\Fx41

    (D) run the installer downloaded to (A). It should automatically connect to your existing settings.

    Success?

Note: Some plugins can only exist in the old folder. If it is missing something essential, present in these files:

    • \Fx41\Plugins
    • \Fx41\browser\plugins
