  Select one miniature pixelation and try, if reprocessing RAW format will help.  The last RAW support update that you have installed with the upgrade may have changed you the treatment for your camera RAW format.

  To reprocess the file open RAW image in edit mode and use the command "Image > reprocess RAW."  Does return correct thumbnail?

  You can try the free Adobe DNG converter (Adobe - Adobe Camera Raw and DNG Converter: for Macintosh). If convet you format the photos to DNG, they will always be the FIRST.  Apple photo applications can usually treat the DNG files, if they are not in a compressed format.

  I use a mac in mid-2007, 10.7.5 mini system. I use iPhoto for my photo files only. I recently shot a family, the RAW files. When you try to transfer these RAW files and keep them in the form of RAW files on an external hard drive, the files themselves simply to the jpg. did someone knows how I can get these RAW files off my hard drive to an external hard drive, but keep them RAW and their original size?   TO export RAW files you select them in iPhoto and export (menu, file == > export) using the type is an original option - see export from iPhoto for more details on the options

  as to get them off you primary drive - you can't, unless you remove them form iPhoto and empty iPhoto trash and trash system - iPHoto must always have access to the original to work

  I discovered that my photo library is now 15 GB causes of all imported... raw files while I wanted to import only jpeg

  How to remove raw (CR2) files?

  apparently if you delete the photo the cr2 file remains in the library, no way to separate or to cancel the two... an idea?

  When I import RAW + JPEG pairs to my library of Photos, Photos show the pair as a single picture. When I delete this single photo, both the RAW and JPEG are removed from the record masters in the library of Photos after I empty the album recently deleted.

  You can do two things:

  -in Photos, uncheck the box that says 'Open pictures for this device'

  -in the Image Capture, at lower left, choose the application you want to open

  Unfortunately, as far as I know, this must be done for all the cards, you use... a nuisance.

However, both of my macs (Yosemite 10.10.5) do not seem to support this format.   The integrated gross Apple can't necessarily all RAW formats, your camera can produce. Generally, they don't support the "plain vanilla" default format. Until Apple releases an update for the RAW processor, you will need to use another treatment of RAW or switch it to compressed RAW. The image you see "a few seconds" is the preview jpeg embedded in the RAW file.

  Photos does not support Plug-ins as an external editor.

  If you want to open your RAW photos in items 13, export Photos and start Photoshop Elements, and then open the exported RAW file.

  If you update to iPhoto9.6.1 you can still use iPhoto with El Capitan.
