Similar questions seem to have been requested several times - but with no satisfatory answer that works for me
I saved a project in movie maker and subsequently he published successfully. I lost the published file and now cannot re - open the mswmm file - he says that it was created in a version of movie maker, which is not supported. How access you the project or convert it to a DVD or other format that I can open? Since the creation of the file for over a year, I transferred to a new laptop. Running XP, SP3 currently and no other problems.
Thank you

Why did did you publish 2.6 of Movie Maker for Vista and not for XP?
Original title: Movie Maker
Hey Microsoft, I want to ask U! Why did did you publish 2.6 of Movie Maker for Vista and not for XP?
Hello
Movie Maker 2.6 is for Windows Vista users whose computer cannot run the Vista's Movie Maker version. However if you want to upgrade the Movie maker for Windows XP you can try to download Windows live essentials.
Windows Live Essentials includes seven major programs Windows Live to help you stay in touch with the people you care most, edit and share your photos, blog, browse, search, and help your kids safer online. Programs include Windows Live Messenger, Mail, Writer, photo library, Family Safety, toolbar, and Movie Maker and Outlook Connector, Office Live Add-in and Microsoft Silverlight.

Impossible to download a movie in Windows Movie Maker-file type not supported
I'm doing a movie with windows movie maker. It does allow me to download an audio file. It says it does not support the file and I need to download a codec. He didn't tell me what codec either. I tried to burn a cd of media player and import of this and it wouldn't let me not do it either.
I have exactly the same problem. How to convert the format?

Either of the following freeware converters would be worth a try:(FWIW... it's always a good idea to create a system)

the CD Ripper and Easy MP3 Cutter)Format Factory

I am running Vista and have tried to publish a movie of 2 hours on my pc using a number of different formats. Still, it hangs at 99% with 5 seconds remaining. I have 800 GB free on my hard drive, a quad core cpu and 8 GB of RAM. Any help to do this would be greatly appreciated. Movie Maker version is 6.0 (Build 6001:SP1).
Thanks Matt.
I checked my Windows logs and found no errors.
Then, I took my video and remove all but 1 minute and tried to create a movie. It worked. Then I went back to the original big movie I tried to save and delete the last two seconds of him. Who did the trick. I have no idea how the end a few images to an existing sequence of wmv could spoil of Movie Maker, but the problem is now resolved.Thank you for guiding me to look at the error logs. He started me on the right track for the removal of the error.

You have posted in a forum XP and 2.6 MM does not work on XP.What version of Windows are you using?
In any case... Movie Maker 2.6 is not compatible with MP4 files.
Best bet would be to convert MP4 for the WMV files
format before you import into Movie Maker. There are to many converters available on the net...
some free, some details... the following freeware is
just an example:(FWIW... it's always a good idea to create a system)

(Windows XP / Vista / 7)
(* Read * all * the installation screens... it)
may be a few items you want to unmark *)When you have installed Freemake... Open Freemake
and drag and drop your video files on the main screen.Or... Click left on the video button and navigate to the
your video files are saved in the folder.Select (highlight) the files you want to import into
Freemake and left, click on the button 'open '.When video files are imported into Freemake,
On the left, click the WMV icon at the bottom of the screen. The 'WMV output settings' screen opens.
Choose a folder ' save in ', so you can find the
converted files. On the left, click the "Convert" button and wait for the files
to convert.That should do it...

Windows Movie Maker, not able to post the video
I have a problem with the publication in 23 minutes of video!
I have the same problem with Windows Movie Maker with the same the same reasons. I check everything to make sure that the files are not corrupt or missing, I check that the destination folder has enough space, and make sure that the folder exists and still... IT DOES NOT PUBLISH! IT GETS 1/3 OF THE WAY AND ME GIVES ERROR! HELP PLZ!
You may need to split the clip 23 min into smaller clips. Publish them separately. Then re-import them in wmm and see if she agrees to publish this time. For the benefits of others looking for answers, please mark as answer suggestion if it solves your problem.
