Issue of CMYK Pantone +.

I'm designing a collection of Invitations in Illustrator to be printed on a digital press. Up to this point I was using a library of nuances of a paper for my color chart company. The problem is that I discovered that I can't have the envelopes printed on the digital press, that they have to go on an offset press 2 colors that uses digital plates. So I was on my Pantone color cards + solid uncoated color conversion, but I noticed I'm lose some beautiful colors cause they don't convert nicely. However, when I tried to use the Pantone library option + C M Y K it was good a match more closely...

My question is Pantone + C M Y K will be a better option for my needs? Or is there a better way to do it? I have never worked with Pantone Solid - coated and lying, I'm not familiar with Pantone, CMYK or Pantone + bridge. I realize print on two totally different processes is not going to be a perfect match, I'm looking for the method that will give me the closest possible match.

Thank you!!

Color Bridge libraries are intended for those who want to simulate a spot color with CMYK, which is the opposite of the part of your intention for the envelopes.

PANTONE has a description of their libraries of colors here http://editor.des08.com/printingpartners/2013-march//PlusLibrariesWhitePaper1_11.pdf

  • Find the closest CMYK Pantone spot colors?

    CS6 on a MacBookPro using

Is there a way to find the closest matching Pantone shades of CMYK, I created in Illustrator?

I know it's easy in Photoshop using the color picker, but there must be a way to do that in Illustrator.

    Help?

Use Photoshop in tandem to do this.  You first need to know what book of Pantone color you plan to use.  As far as I know it is usually solid uncoated.

    1. Open your file IN Photoshop.
    2. Make sure you only choose CMYK as color mode (this is very important).
    3. Take the color eyedropper ( I )
    4. Click the first color
    5. Then click the shade 'picked' in your toolbar
    6. In the Picker dialog, choose "color libraries".
    7. You can now navigate PANTONE Solid not clothed with the top down in the next window
    8. At this point, Photoshop will match your selection with a color of the library of the PANTONE colors you have chosen.  Write it down.
    9. Jump to Illustrator.
    10. Choose a shape with the same color initially selected in Photoshop.
    11. In the window of your color chart, click on the small icon in the lower left (it says 'Menu libraries of nuances' bubble)
    12. Place the cursor of color books, and then click "Pantone Solid non-couche.
    13. Wow! Box of the Rainbow! But it's messy, so let's clean it up.
    14. In the palette options drown down (it's the icon at the top right that looks like an arrow with a bunch of lines), choose "sort by name".
    15. Now you can easily select the PANTONE color Photoshop guessed for you.
    16. The selected part of the work updates automatically to the PANTONE color, you clicked on on.j

It is MUCH simpler than it seems.  I just explain like you MIKE.

I thought that the problem of this ninefish as shown in the screenshot in the post #4, it is defined as book CMYK Pantone color turns into colors of the Lab times book pasted into a new document. This is not normal. In CS5, the default value is CMYK custom book for each new document except if a document profile had been created and selected by choosing File > new. And said ninefish that color Spot in the new document options is book CMYK, but if I understand after that paste the Pantone color becomes defined laboratory. If this is the case I think that there is something completely false in the way Illustrator behaves there.

  • A few questions about the colors of Patone

I have a few questions about patone color since it is the first time that I use. I want to use them to create a paper letterhead and business cards in two colors.

    1)

I don't understand that no sex is more than coated patone washed out colors. I heard that it's because the way paper absorbs the inkt. That is why the same results inkt in different colors on different papers (right?). My question is why is the patone black no sex so different than black normal (c = 0 m = 0 y = 0, k = 100) or black intense:

    blacks.png

When I print a normal document with cmyk, I can get pretty dark black color. How is it that I can't have this dark with patone color black color? Even text documents printed on a cheap printer can get a darker color than the color of Patone. He looks way too grey for me.

    (2) a first model, I want to print of patone in CMYK color (since I have like 10 different colors on a page of quick comparison). I know these CMYK colors distinguish the colors of patone and I can't get a representation of 100%. But is there a way to convert patone CMYK values?

I hope some of you can help me with my questions.

    Thank you.

You can get shades CMYK Pantone in Illustrator, (Swatches Panel > Open Swatch Library > color books > + PANTONE Color Bridge Coated or lying) but in my opinion, what's the point?  If you print to a digital printer, just use RGB (HSB) or CMYK. Personally, I never use CMYK called "equivalents." from Pantone

Pantone colors are all mixed pigmented inks, which are fluorescent beyond the limits of the range of RGB and CMYK in particular. The original Pantone Matching System (PMS) was created for the printing industry. He described formulations of ink pigmented for each of its colors.

Most digital printers (laser or inkjet) use CMYK. The range of CMYK is MUCH SMALLER than many mixed inks, printed on papers either paved or unpaved can deliver. When you specify no sex Pantone ink in artificial intelligence, according to Pantone conversion tables, HAVE "about" what will look like this color on a sheet no bed, try using CMYK. -In my opinion, this has little relevance to the real world conditions and should be avoided in most situations.

If your project must be printed on a press printing with Pantone inks spots, then by all means, use Pantone colors. But don't trust the colors of the screen; rather get a Pantone swatch book and watch real inks on paper lying and uncoated, depending on the stock you will use on the press.

With printing decreases rapidly for inkjet and web printers, Pantone has attempted to expand its relevance beyond the traction-date of publication (in the books and software alliances, with one such as Adobe) his old PMS inks and their supposed equivalent LAB and CMYK. I say "supposed" because even once, monitors RGB and CMYK inks can never be literally equivalent to many Pantone inks. But if you go to your project on a printing press printing, Pantone inks are still very relevant as of the "tones".

I also put my preferences I > appearance of black both display all blacks accurately and output all blacks accurately. The only exception to this may be when you print on a digital printer, where there should be no problem checking.

Rich black in artificial intelligence is a phenomenon of the screen, at least in the Prefs > appearance of Black, you specify also "out all inks like Rich Black"-something I'd do it EVER do so out for a real printing press. Still, I put my black people in artificial intelligence at the "output All Blacks Acurately" during a press release. If you fail to do so, then the press you will see any minor issue registration, with C, M and look at the back, especially around black characters.  UGH!

    Good luck!  :+)

  • Why are they different? Help!

Hi guys! I somehow never really learned about color management, and whenever I try to search (Googling questions/terms or search these forums) I just can't get my head around it. I got a style guide to work from print, web, and materials of the screen, and I hope I can get some tips on the best way to proceed.

It is a screenshot of the color information in the PDF file I have provided:

    guide.JPG

This is a screenshot of what happens when I create samples of CMYK values / RGB values / colors Pantone process in InDesign and fill shapes with them (more a more blue color that we use):

    colors.JPG

I guess I can understand why RGB is different, but I do not understand why CMYK/Pantone colors are different from each other. If it's supposed to happen? Is this monitor settings, color profile settings? I played a bit with some things, but they basically always look like that.

I also received 2 files of logo EPS in our central office, 2 colors and 4 colors. For me, they appear as different colors (orange and blue) in InDesign and Illustrator since one is Pantone and CMYK is. But when I import the EPS files in photoshop, they look alike. Is this the same problem?

I use these colors in a lot of web - applications, graphic display, things we print in-house (laser or copier printer), things that we have printed (usually numerically but sometimes 4 color), print points (often the tone), as well as give information to people (teachers, administrative assistants) with a wide range of levels to create similar. What colors should I use for style guide documents (PDF, but I know that some people will print them)? What colors/logo files should I tell people to use if I don't know what they do with them? Any help with this would be greatly appreciated!

Many thanks to both of you guys! Certainly a great help and I have a somewhat clearer picture of the works of the color in the world of Adobe, and how they gave me to manage files and color values.

After a lot of running around, I got a response of the plant to one of my big questions - they HAD the intention to have the RGB/Hex values be ENTIRELY DIFFERENT COLORS of the PMS/CMYK, so that they are consistent accessibility for web and screen contrast. The obv that very badly communicated by including all together on a single color values. (the HTML version of web style guide they have released this last week the values of color the exact same layout and size as the original image I posted, but using the RGB/Hex values listed for the color actually blocks... which is not better...)

  • The image passes grayscale when you save or print preview Postscript/PDF but the text remains in color?

It is in color, until I have turn on overprint preview, or try to save the booklet in Postscript or PDF format.

In print preview or when you do everything above, it goes gray scale but the text and rectangles are in color?

The images have been placed as eps files from Photoshop and have been duatone in PS.

    Help, please.

You and all those who have contributed, thank you.

The problem is that the files were not CMYK Pantone color library, they were the nuances I had made myself were not recognizable to the printer.

I can't say why we are forced to use eps or Postscript files, as far as I know is that I have to follow the guidelines directly or it will result in a failure. It is a strange Bachelor of Graphic Design.

Thank you all, the problem has been resolved.

  • CS2 > CS4 text color problems

I recently imported some files CS2 in CS4 and also a few quarters of text, all seems good, but when that we send it to print, some of the text prints black. I went through the file by ensuring that there was no transparency, without spot color settings/effects, etc., but it (and it's related files to always print with the same problem.

It exports to PDF very well and allows to print from there, but no InDesign itself. I even exported to .inx and back, with no changes.

    Any ideas?

(attached is one of the pages in question.) It affects only the text on blue. Both were swatchs converted to CMYK, Pantone so I recreated the CMYK shade from scratch, but there was no change to the impression that results. "And change it to any other non-white color prints in black).

The next question is obvious: is any impression of colored text? If this is not the case, check for a setting in the print dialog box and the print driver, for "Black text".

This isn't really a question for the modules, it is better to ask this question in the forum of a specific application like Photoshop but I did a search on myself that I knew you could do it.

Go to the color picker and select the color you want, it's easy to do with the eyedropper tool which can enjoy whatever color you click on.

Step 1: Double click on the color you just sampled in the field for number 1, see the image below.

Step 2: Click the color libraries button

    Step 3:

See the image above - Photoshop automatically selects the Pantone color closest to you because he is very smart!

If your yellow color is Pantone 116C for example. Easy!
