Issue of Windows defender

If windows defender is the stopcock in reason to use the bulk of the security, how can you change your startup programs?  It asks windows Defender to be marketed to, and if I turn it on (even manually) it stops immediately.

Hey drivers,

MSE has no equivalent to the Software Explorer, but there are several alternatives, some of which are better than the defender was anyway.  Close the Defender isn't the answer and you should not (because it would cause conflicts) and is not required (see below) judge.

There are at least three ways to manage the startup programs (maybe more, but these are enough). I use all three, depending on the circumstances.

1. go to start / all programs / accessories / run and type msconfig.exe, and then enter. Go to the Startup tab and you can check or uncheck the programs to run at startup. The two disadvantages are that you get little information about the programs and you cannot add programs that aren't already there to register. And it's not as easy on the eyes as defender either.

2 download for free WinPatrol: http://www.winpatrol.com/download.html and you have not control these programs, but you can also add new ones, AND what I like best, you can allow it to run in the background and it will warn you if something is trying to add to your knowledge, the start menu (as sometimes happens with some downloads and installations). You don't have to use this feature if you do not want, but I find most convenient. It also provides information more than msconfig. I find better than the defender and would use to start-program control even if it were possible to run the Defender.

3. download the Autoruns for free: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb963902.aspx. It is the gold standard to control startup programs and everything started with lots of details and options and different points of view. The danger here is that it is so good and powerful, if you're not careful, you can remove something you really want to remove and your pipe system (but if you pay attention and see proof of caution and don't change anything, unless you know EXACTLY what you are doing and the ramifications to do) ", you'll be fine).

I rarely use msconfig. I use mostly WinPatrol. When I'm really in cleaning things up and need to know exactly what a seed and start-up, then I click on Autoruns to get all the details I need.

This will cover managing processes and startup and startup and programs all that much better. And if you choose to WinPatrol execution only on request and not only not with the analysis in real-time, so none of them will take all the resources unless you use them.

I hope this helps.

Good luck!

Hello, just to be sure I have the correct information, Windows Defender lights not in Windows Vista with Microsoft Security Essentials, as Essentials has its own version of the Defender.  The error code I received is the same as the previous posts in which is: 0x800106ba.  Again, just to be sure, I understand, I should stop trying to turn Defender because Security Essentials has covered it, okay?

    Hello

Yes; Microsoft Security Essentials should disable Windows Defender for the reasons you mentioned.

If she didn't turn it off, you should manually have to do it anyway.

    This information explains Microsoft explained:

    http://answers.Microsoft.com/en-us/protect/Forum/MSE-protect_start/Windows-Defender-and-Microsoft-Security-Essentials/5309cb8d-02e1-40E8-974f-0dcedb9ab9fd

Q: is - this installation of Microsoft Security Essentials (XP/Vista/7) disable Windows Defender?
    A:
Microsoft Security Essentials should disable Windows Defender in Vista and Windows 7, and then uninstall it from XP. In some cases, this does not happen automatically.

Q: what happens if I do not disable or uninstall Windows Defender, if I use Microsoft Security Essentials (XP/Vista/7)?
A: If Microsoft Security Essentials and Windows Defender are both running, your system can know the performance degradation and other problems caused by the conflict of two services providing real-time protection at the same time.

  • Windows Defender will not activate in Windows Vista

I use windows vista and after I bought Norton 360 and put it on my HP laptop... whenever I wish my PC it seems there is a problem with windows security. When I open my windows Defender would emerge but let me enable it by running the update for it.  Now it lights up at all... I get a message that windows security is unable to activate windows defender on please try again later... more later she just said and did the same thing and will not let me install another version of windows defender... OH one thing... after having installed Norton on this laptop as well as my other more old or my CD/DVD burner drivers works not at all... will not read a disc at all... what happens?

You should never have 2 versions on any antivirus installed on your computer, or 2 different AVs installed.

    It will cause problems.
