Windows Defender disabled via Group Policy. How do I turn it on? under the system of vista-Home Basic, 32-bit

have you tried bugs found through toshiba and windows support. None have worked so far. installed spybot search and destroy to clean files. learned problem could be related to registry. no experience in this area. can u help?

See what antivirus you are running:

If you have Microsoft Security Essentials, AVG, McAfee, Norton, etc. installed, they have a conflict with Windows Defender, or turn it off.

Microsoft Security Essentials has its own integrated version of the defender and should automatically disable the version of Vista in Windows Defender.

If it's not:

http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/turn-Windows-Defender-on-or-off

Turn Windows Defender on or off the information on the link above of Microsoft.

Hope the above explains the common compatibility issues with Windows Defender and other security programs.

    Hello

There is no Windows Vista downloads available from Microsoft.

You can contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send you a set of recovery disks.

They should do this for a small fee.

And if you have never received a recovery disk when you bought your computer, there should be a recovery Partition on the hard drive to reinstall Vista on how you purchased your computer.

The recovery process can be started by pressing a particular combination of the key or keys at startup. (Power on / start)

    Maybe it's F10, F11, Alt + F10, etc., depending on the manufacturer.

Ask them to the proper key sequence.

And if you do not score a manufacturer of recovery on your hard drive, you should be able to make your own recovery from her disks to reinstall the operating system.

Go to programs > name of the manufacturer of your computer > then their system or recovery tools software topics for them, depending on how it is formulated.

If you can't find any reference to it, contact the manufacturer for advice on how to make these recovery disks

Some manufacturers have more available Vista recovery disks.

If this happens, you may need to try this instead:

You can also borrow and use a Microsoft Vista DVD, which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key on your computer / Laptop box determines what Edition is installed.

Other manufacturers recovery DVDs are should not be used for this purpose.

And you need to know the version of 'bit' for Vista, as 32-bit and 64-bit editions come on different DVDs

Here's how to do a clean install of Vista using a DVD of Vista from Microsoft:

"How to do a clean install and configure with a full Version of Vista '

    http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/117366-clean-install-full-version-Vista.html

And once the operating system is installed, go to your computer manufacturer's website and get the latest drivers for your particular model or laptop computer.

And phone Activation may be necessary when you use the above installation method.

You cannot uninstall a running operating system.  The best you can do is wipe the hard drive and start over, but which will also remove all programs and documents.

  • Windows Vista Home Basic 64-bit

I'm looking for customizable configurations, and I see that you offer with 8 GB of RAM, but it takes a 64-bit system to support it. At the same time, the only option that explicitly says it's 64-bit is the Business edition of Vista, which I certainly don't need. Is it possible to specify a command with Windows Vista Home Basic 64-bit?

Yes, I know what I'm talking about and I need the power, but none of the administrative nonsense associated with the addition of the company. Wikipedia:

«Similar to Windows XP Home Edition, Home Basic targets budget conscious users not requiring advanced do not support supports for domestic use.» ... Home Basic supports one processor physical, but with multiple cores. 64-bit Home Basic supports up to 8 GB of RAM. ... Comparable to Windows XP Professional and Windows XP Edition Tablet PC, Windows Vista Business Edition targets the business market. It includes all the features of the basic home edition with the exception of Parental control and the Windows Vista Standard theme. This edition can join and participate in a Windows Server domain. It includes Internet Information Services, fax support, Rights Management Services client, Encrypting File System, image system and recovery, offline files, backup a server to single user Remote Desktop , capabilities of collaboration ad hoc P2P cliché support that allows you to access previous versions of files, Tablet PCsupport and other features of business-oriented management. Vista Business edition supports up to two physical processors. 64-bit Enterprise supports 128 GB of RAM. »

I am interested in a configuration with a high power, dual-core processor and 8 GB of RAM with the cache of 2 GB drive in addition to that, among other things, large volume, an intense audio processing. None of the additional costs related to the company are things that I need, but I need a 64 bit system to exploit the 8 GB of RAM. Frankly, I really don't want to pay $79 just for the support of RAM, I don't want to deal with it through Microsoft, and while the basic edition is apparently not a Windows 7 free upgrade, I can cross that bridge when I come to it.

    My questions:

    • If I set up a machine with > 3 GB installed memory, will there by default be configured with the 64 bit version of the edition of Windows, I chose?
    • If so, is there a cost difference? There is no difference in cost between the registered versions 32 - and 64-bit Enterprise edition.
    • If not, is it possible to make this simple change to my order? Levono is even included in Windows Vista Home Basic 64-bit?

    buzgun wrote:

Ehh. The other side to this is that, when you try to maximize the efficiency of an audio production on the fly system, a huge amount of overhead of operating system is not desirable.

If you after a clutter of OS (which is what you seem to be which means by 'efficiency'), you will need to do significant customization of the load of the installation of any  version of Windows, so it won't be fine well what version start you with.

    Please provide the guidelines.

    Thank you for this help.

    Hello

My personal opinion is that you buy a more recent machine as Vista Basic came on machines that have the material basis for it requirements.

Depends on hardware configuration required on later operating systems, and also find out if the manufacturer of the laptop computer is supported and provides drivers for operating systems later as to whether it is possible or feasible to upgrade or not.

There is no free upgrade Vista to 7, 8.1, or 10.

Follow these steps before you buy Windows 7.

Microsoft sells more than 7; Try Amazon.com.

Go to your computer / computer laptop manufacturer Web site and see if Windows 7 drivers are available for your make and model computer / laptop.

If this is not available, Windows 7 will not properly work for you.

Run the "Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor.

Follow these steps before buy you and upgrade (new installation) of Windows 8.1.

    Try Amazon.com, etc.

Check if the manufacturer of your computer/laptop has Windows 8.1 drivers available for your model.

If this is not available, Windows 8.1 not install and work properly for you.

  • How to activate the faults COMMITTED to an internal SATA hard drive, but not the other, on Vista Home Premium 32-bit?

I have a set of 17-inch laptop 2008 which contains two hard drive bays internal, purchased in June.  It came with a single hard drive (traditional spinning disc).  It is running Service Pack 2, Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit.

My SATA controller is an Intel 82801GBM/GHM (ICH7-M family); I think it's a first-generation SATA controller (1.5 Gbps).

I received recently a 160 GB Intel X - 25 M SSD (second generation SATA, but it is fully compatible with the first generation controllers, without additional or jumpers configuration) as a gift from my wife.  I removed my first hard drive completely, installed the SSD in the main Bay and installed Windows, drivers and the Intel SSD utility.  I then reinstalled my HDD original in the second span, completely wiped and reformatted it as a partition; It currently contains my music and other multimedia files.

The utility Intel SSD tells me I should activate DIPM for my SSD as opposed to HIPM.  This seems to take a bit of tinkering to make Vista, and my situation is further complicated by the presence of my HARD drive (original) secondary, which prefer to use HIPM.

I read the article on the Microsoft Web site on editing the registry to activate the misconduct, and it's something I would feel comfortable doing. However, I don't want my SSD to use DIPM, my HARD drive is expected to continue to use HIPM, and I was afraid that the proposed fix would allow the misconduct for all readers.

Could someone let me know how I can activate DIPM for my SSD while continuing to use HIPM to my HARD drive, I'd be very grateful.

EDIT: My Maintenance of SSD utility said simply that the State of the settings DIPM/HIPM "could not be determined." if Vista automatically selects the correct setting and the SSD utility does not just understand that, which makes my life a lot easier. but it would be nice to know for sure, so I can forget it all (if Vista already defined for me) or change the setting (if Vista did not automatically choose food appropriate for each disk management mode).

You will need two SATA controllers: both on board or an edge and the other on PCI - E.

Configure one who does not need TRIM/DIPM (do not use a SSD) as non-AHCI (compatible IDE/ATA-6) in the BIOS and the other (where TRIM/DIPM will be used) as AHCI.

Connect the drive to which you DIPM AHCI controller. See http://www.abxzone.com/forums/f155/tip-how-enable-dipm-ssds-windows-120968.html for more information.

  • HELP ME PLEASE ANSWER, STOP INCITEMENT ON SEVERAL UPDATES OF WINDOWS FOR MY VISTA HOME BASIC 32-BIT SYSTEM... Thank you!!!

DEAR MICROSOFT DO - WHAT I DO OR HOW TO STOP THE INSTIGATION OF WINDOWS UPDATE TO IE9 AND PROTECTION OF MOST RECENT ESSENTIALS? I KNOW MY WAY AROUND COMPUTERS, BUT I NEVER GOT AN UPDATE THAT I DID NOT ACCEPT. PLEASE ANSWER, THANK YOU FOR KINDLY, JAYBIRD

    Hello Jay Drury,.

I guess that you do not want the updates, etc, IE, IE9 to display in the list of available updates? The easiest way to do this is to 'hide '. By hiding their they won't prompt for installation.

    1. click the Windows Start button.

    2. on the start menu, click the control panel option.

    3. in Control Panel, click the Windows Update icon.

    4. once the Windows Update window opens, click on the option "check for updates".

    5. because you have not installed THE 9 Essentials protection Windows updates and indicates that updates are available.

    6. now, you need a list of the available updates. Do you this by clicking on the option marked "recommended updates or optional updates (don't remember not the exact wording, but something like that).

    7. the list of updates will now appear.

    8. right click on the update of IE 9, and in the menu drop-down, click Hide.

9 do the same for the other updates you want.

    10. the 'hidden' update will not now be dispalyed and you will not be asked to install.

Also when posting to the forums, you must use lowercase instead of uppercase. Uppercase is equivalent to shouting.
