Issues of paste vector graphics from Illustrator into Indesign

I have been using CS5 test before buying the subscription and I found that I can't copy a vector graphic in Illustrator and paste into Indesign and it always maintain its editability.

It will stick in Indesign as a group object, but when I separate the it, he interrupts in all these boxes according to the picture here:Picture 11.png

I can't edit any part of the image at this point, it's just all the boxes.

I followed the instructions, preferably at this link: http://help.Adobe.com/en_US/InDesign/CS/using/WSa285fff53dea4f8617383751001ea8cb3f-6bdda.h tml but no luck.

I never had this problem with previous versions of CS so really hope there is an easy solution.

I look forward to the comments as soon as POSSIBLE because it is making my job very difficult and time-consuming workflow.

Thanks in advance.

OK, I did some research more. These objects are filled with samples of model, which sort of pose the question why anyone would create solid color templates...

  • Print and import of Illustrator into Indesign Questions

    Hello

I am currently doing a project for College and I am fairly new to Indesign and Illustrator...

My Question is if I create a logo or a work of art in illustrator how to import it in inDesign, for the moment that I'm just place the .ai file in my project of indesign, but I noticed that it tends to lose the look of vector. Number one am I imported the file correctly, and number two, I make a brochure standard, if I want to activate this go to print I do save as pdf and then print?

This leads to my final question,

I have an A4 of the project in illustrator and stuck in a configuration of A3 in illustrator so I can use the space on the project of A3 to explain what I did in the project etc... If I save it in PDF format I can still print on a sheet A3 or because I saved it as a PDF it will print as A4?

Sorry for what seems like silly questions for you, but scratching their heads material for me...

    Thanks in advance.

To bring your art Illustrator file > Place...

View > display performance > high quality screen will improve the look on the screen. Vectors print at the resolution of the output device, so the preview always is just a preview and not an indication of print quality.

Normal workflow these days is to provide a PDF for printing. You can print on any sheet size you like. You can learn more about "slug" in the help files. The slug area is outside the trim on your ID file and is used to the notes of the printer as you describe.

  • When I transfer a file from photoshop into indesign, what is the best format for printing purposes?

Let me give you a little background here. I do my mini portfolio. It is a collection of works of my choice. I place objects in Indesign. I placed Indesign and Illustrator files in Indesign without going through problems of impressions pixelated. When I placed a Photoshop file in Indesign my pixelated image slightly. Guys can help me solve my problem? Thank you.

You must ensure that the files have a sufficient number of pixels at a certain size and a certain ppi.

    For example, to print an image of 8 x 10 inches at 300 dpi, you need 2400 x 3000 pixels. (8 x 300 per 10 x 300)

If you resize the image upwards in Indesign, the ppi will be reduced. Choose the image and let effective ppi in the links Panel.

If th pixelation only happens in Indesign and not when printing, do a right-click on the image in the layout and choose display performance > high quality display.

You can also set in display performance preferences.

But what you see in Indesign is in any case an overview of reduced quality, not the original.

  • Problem with Illustrator and InDesign

InDesign has a preference of Clipboard, have you tried him affecting prefer PDF when pasting?

  • Copy and paste shapes from Illustrator also brings a black background. Why?

When you copy / paste a shape from Illustrator into Muse, it also brings a black background. Why is it happening and how it delete us?

    Thank you!

It is a bounding box when you copy vectors from HERE and paste in the file is converted into a raster image of Muse.

You must copy the vector shape in Photoshop and scale to the size you need and then export it. (Still Raster)

But you can also export it as .swf and import that muse and it scales well looks good in preview even after that you redimensionnerez the form...   (No bounding box)

    Hope this helps

  • Try to paste from Illustrator as a smart object

Is there a trick to paste an image vector pixelated from Illustrator into Photoshop as a smart object and not introduce a bunch of smoothing that wasn't in the original file? My images are perfectly aligned with the pixel grid in Illustrator, and displays correctly rasterizes preview.

This page is useful to deal with vector shape layers, but the techniques he talks do not work for dynamic objects. Strangely, he says that it is not a problem with smart objects, but I do.

Here's an example of what I'm talking about: a simple image of pixel of 13 x 13 in turn shit in Photoshop Illustrator when pasted as a smart object (I know not a picture that is as simple as it could be pasted as a shape layer, but the I work with real images are much more complex and cannot be pasted in the form of simple shape layers).

    pixel_grid.jpg

    I'm using Photoshop CS4.

    > How to use these tools documentation could be improved so that when someone tries to do what wants to do the OP above, it can really accomplish its purpose?

I'm not sure. It seems to be expecting behavior that should not. So I don't know what he thinks is happening, or what part it misunderstands.  I can document how the mathematics and applications work, but not all average people incorrectly assume that they work.

Nod to the pixel grid option vector will manage the outline of the shape-, but maybe inside aliasees according to the position and size of the shape as well as the definition of the original form of vector.  Most of the time, vectors do not align with the pixel grid, but we can force the outside edges to align. Inside edges usually cannot be aligned with limits of pixels without deforming the wrong form (in the case where it is possible at all).

  • Image editing in InDesign (copy and paste from Illustrator)

    Hello

I have a scenario and I hope someone can clarify:

I'm working on a Mac using Adobe Illustrator & Indesign CS4. Whenever I have copy and paste or drag an image in illustrator into Indesign, this particular chart is not editable in InDesign, and it's ok.  I want it like this to the clerk/typists to use in their InDesign files.

However, on a PC with Vista, when the chart is copied and pasted/dragged from illustrator into indesign, this graph becomes editable using the direct Selection tool in InDesign.  I want to know is if there is a way to disable this option on the PC version as on mac?

    Thanks in advance

    Hello

Perhaps the difference lies with the way Illustrator fits images.

Here, with my trusty CS3 in 'preferences files and Clipboard' (translated from the french), I have the choice of exporting the Clipboard in the format PDF and AICB format.

If I understand your message, I guess Mac export as a PDF and Vista exports AICB format.

An audit of preferences would help with this,

    Good luck.

  • Copy and paste graphic w/shadow in indesign - loses the transparency

    InDesignScreenSnapz002.jpg

See the image above... I did a version vector of our company in illustrator logo (all referenced programs are cs5 btw) and it looks great, but when I copy and paste from Illustrator into InDesign, it loses the transparency around the logo. If I place the logo instead, it works fine. The problem is there are about 16 variants of the logo and its MUCH easier to copy and paste from a global file rather than have several files of different logos to be placed.

General information on how the logo was created: the inner circle is several layers degraded (some with both transparency masks). The white line around the outside edge is a stroke extended, and he had a shadow applied effect (menu aesthetics), that I developed for it would scale correctly when scaling the logo from top to bottom. Here is a link to download the logo: download the logo

Q: is there any way make InDesign preserve transparency when I copy and paste?

You would be eternally grateful if someone has a solution that allows me to copy and paste!

You have to put each version on its own layer in Illustrator and place the file I. Choose display options, cultures of the bounding box and select the appropriate layer.

You going to have successful copy/paste with shadows that would be better applied in the ID anyway.

  • InDesign crashes suddenly then copy and paste from Illustrator...

This is a really recent thing that never happened before, it's bugging the hell out of me, and google offers no solution so far...

I am running Mac OS X Snow Leopard and InDesign + Illustrator CS2

My problem is I'm trying to paste a code bar created in a program called "Easy Creator barcode" in an Illustrator document and vectoriser vectorize then the bar code, copy it and paste it into an InDesign document.

Everything works fine until I have switch from windows from Illustrator to InDesign document - when I try to paste the code barcode described in the InDesign document, it breaks down just InDesign.

The strange thing is, the two first bar code copied and pasted with zero problems. When I tried to paste the following, the crash has begun.

I checked my preferences and checked the permissions of drive, but in vain.

I don't know what is happening, but to do a quick sort as I have a date deadline for a catalog of this week!

If anyone has any ideas, tips or solutions they would be greatly appreciated!

    See you soon

If you have already converted to outlines, there are no police who could be replaced or fail to be integrated in the placed art, so a user error cannot cause a problem that would not also be possible with a pasted graphic.

But if you stick to keep your job, keep your job. Try to make a copy of the file, then export to .inx and open and save as a new .indd. See if that fixes Watt is screing things up.

  • Copyright on vector graphic basis?

So, Ive seen a few vector images that I liked (a shopping mall and the person) in a commercial hosted on youtube for some company. Now if I'm going to create similar charts in Adobe Illustrator to use in my promo / ad video for one of my products and maybe use some of the movements of objects and of the camera in this ad I saw, would it be a question about copyright? In other words: I created all of my vector graphics from absolute zero in Illustrator and all animated by myself in after affects, but they are similar to this announcement (I was inspired by this announcement lets say)

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Vector graphics do not have their own rules of copyright.  Anyone who knows the laws regarding rights of use will be able to help you regardless of the file type.

  • How can I request features objects from Illustrator?

This seems to be an amateur and very simple problem, but I had no chance to solve in the last days.

In Illustrator, I did a series of glyphicons I want to use in Photoshop.

Now, I don't want to not simply copy and paste these glyphicons static objects.

but apply various effects to them, most basic among them being stroke.

Out of the four options to import an object from Illustrator into Photoshop,

I have excluded dynamic object because it forces me to move forward and backward Illustrator and Photoshop to change,

and I of course excluded pixel as well.

I have the feeling that my answer may be found in the path,

but I've been playing mainly with the shape layer.

However, the biggest problem I have with the shape layer is the one

It recognizes the external contour of the imported object,

However, there is no way to do it for something else.

    For example,.

    Sample.jpg

If I bring the subject above to Photoshop via the shape layer,

It won't recognize the circle as an editable area and not the star.

    So my question would be,

How to do effects like stroke both the circle and Star

without dealing with the separate objects?

I would be grateful for any answer! XD

Moving between AI and PS is a pain and needs to be improved. Once the paths are in PS that Paste as paths, duplicate the shape layer, then remove the external path. That will leave the inner path which you can then draw.

    File in AI:

    Stuck in PS:

Selected departure then ctrl/cmd-J put stars on its own layer:
