JDeveloper 11g IDE fonts in Windows 7

The site I'm on just migrated their infrastructure of office of Windows XP to Windows 7.

When we open up JDeveloper 11.1.1.7 Windows 7 IDE fonts are bolder than usual and quite fuzzy.  On Windows XP, they were crisp and clear.

The police of the code editor is fine.

It's on the same PC that was running Windows XP with the same monitor that is the PC infrastructure is the same.

Everyone knows this or can anyone offer advice.

Thank you

The issue seems to be with Windows 7 screen management.

To fix, follow the steps under 'Control Panel--> appearance' and customization--> display--> adjust the ClearType text, select the text that seems most at each stage.

Restart JDeveloper, fonts should now be sharp and well defined.

  • is there a limit on the number of fonts in Windows 7 Pro?

Just curious as to the number of fonts that Windows can handle. As I recall there is a limit in xp and earlier versions of Wimdows.

Moving to a new computer with Windows 7 Pro... and installation of facades of the old machine, but did not want to create problems with one too many fonts.

It of probably ridiculously high as the upper limit, but don't forget your system will load each of them into memory and they will take place in HD.

I have seen systems with 5000 + fonts.

Its usually a good idea to limit the fonts to the ones you actually use.

  • I have problems of fonts in Windows XP Professional.

I'm trying to import fonts into Windows XP Professional SP3. These are extracted from a Mac using 5 Fontographer and imported commercial policies in the TrueType. If I have four font files in a family (American Garamond Roman, American Garamond Italic, American Garamond Bold and American Garamond Bold Italic), four files appear in the police file and the registry. However, when I discovered the fonts under XP, the Roman and italic will be Roman and bold and bold italic will be just "BOLD". It seems that Windows does not recognize the other files. When I try to import them, it tells me they're there. These fonts were separate before the import, but not after.

This could be the cause? Is there a solution?

Symptoms suggest that the problem is how Fontographer generated data in the actual font file. Windows is not find data to correctly map the police to its menus. In any case, the most likely source of help to solve this problem is through aid or FontLab or Fontographer user sites.

Microsoft provides several programs Garamond (sources of Agfa Monotype). If you have one of those, you don't have to use a converted version.

  • What is the default font in Windows 7?

I have a sort of a time trying to figure that out, but I'll try to find a font Windows decent that looks good anywhere like XP, but I don't know what to choose and I don't know what XP used or even which uses Windows 7.

I know how to change things, but knowing the value default for each could help me decide. I try with ClearType on and outside, but I continue to turn in the same text hard to read which is either crushed or seems smeared. It is not the same experience good all over as it was with XP, although I'd rather not have the pixelated look on text.

    Hello

Segoe UI is the default font in Windows 7. Segoe UI is a humanist typeface family that is best known for its use by Microsoft. Microsoft uses Segoe UI in their marketing materials online and print, including recent logos for a number of products. In addition, the Segoe UI font family is used by many Microsoft applications. This is the default font in Windows Vista and Windows 7. The font is also used for Outlook.com, e-mail service from Microsoft which has replaced the previous Hotmail.

    Thank you.

  • Disable all the smoothing of the fonts in Windows 7 (ie: including the taskbar, menus, Control Panel, etc...)

I would like to turn off completely all the fonts, straightening, smoothing, etc... on Windows 7. I struggle to read and it gives me a headache.

Here's what I've tried so far:

    1. go to Windows 7 Basic theme. (No Aero).
    2. run the ClearType tuner. (It did not help. "I want to delete the font smoothing, not tweak it.)
3 disable ClearType altogether. (Taskbar, menus, etc. are still sleek/anti-aliasing).
4 unchecked "smooth edges of screen fonts" performance-> Visual effects. (The taskbar, help, Board policies, etc. remain smoothed).
5 changed all my fonts Tahoma under personalize-> Windows Color
6 using the regedit, added "Tahoma" as the first option under HKLM-> software-> Microsoft-> Windows NT-> current-> FontSubstitutes
7 delete all fonts in/Windows/Fonts Segoe (had to take possession to do)
8 deleted almost all foreign fonts in/Windows/Fonts (I was frustrated...)
    9. I tried to play with HKCU-> Panel-> Desktop-> FontSmoothingType (1 and 0) and FontSmoothing (1 and 0).
10 tried to run my laptop to a non-native resolution (which makes even worse)

The steps above has removed most fonts smoothing, the taskbar, dialogue, Control Panel, etc. boxes are still sleek/anti-aliasing. So far, the only way I found to completely turn off all smoothing is to switch to classic mode, which is unfortunate to delete any visual styles either. In short, I want Win7 fonts to render in a mode binary/full pixelated, with no blur rendering or subpixel gray.

    Help, please!

    Hi Ken,
I hope that the typography of Win 7 team makes this optional 'functionality' of SP1. I'm holding out until then. But if you insist on using 7 before smoothing fonts is fixed, here's how to deal with registry fonts substitutes and UAC/protection system.
Change under FontSubstitutes registry settings so that "Tahoma" appears before Segoe in all parameters of FontSubstitute. Then, appropriating the Windows directory (I took possession of all subdirectories and files, that may be excessive, but made other tweaking easier to deal with) delete Segoe. To appropriate, right-click on the Windows system folder, select 'Properties', click Security, advanced options, and then clik on owner in the advanced security settings... Click the button modify and change of owner to your own account. Do some "replace the subcontainer owner...". "is checked.
It is an exaggeration, but it will get.

P.S. If someone figure out how to remove the font smoothing in the taskbar for Win 7, I praise you for all time.

You try to open fonts in Control Panel and select the ones you want and pressing "delete"?

However, be warned - if someone sends you a document composed of a font that you deleted on your machine, you might well meet all kinds of formatting issues...

Secondly, the folder of fonts on my machine is only 400MB - a salary in today's large disks.
