• Oracle 11g compatibility with oracle 10g and 9i?

    Hi all

I have a few questions about the compatibility of 11g.

Client Oracle 11g is compatible with oracle 10g client that is already installed on the desktop computer?

If any changes to do so and where?

Is oracle 11g oracle 10 g/9i on the same server where are installed the 10 g/9i compatible?

    Concerning

If the question you ask yourself is 'Can I have multiple versions of the Oracle installed on the same client computer' or "Can I have several versions of the database Oracle installed on the same machine", the answer is Yes. As long as you install each version in another House of Oracle, and we are talking about versions 8.1.5 and upward, you can have as many different versions of the client and the database on the same machine as you wish. Of course, you are still subject to the support of operating system compatibility (e.g. Oracle 9.2 did not had been supported on Windows 2008, so do not expect to work).

The only problem you may have would be with components that are not compatible with several House. This mainly affects third-party Windows drivers (drivers third party ODBC, etc.) who do not know how to work with multiple Oracle homes and end up using which version of the client Oracle happens to appear first in the path.

You cannot install the Oracle database on android. Android already comes with SQLite installed on the device. The customer Mobile Sync allows you to synchronize between the SQLite database client and a database server Oracle Enterprise.

    I hope this helps.

  • With the help of OBIEE with Oracle Database Express Edition? SOLVED

I have a customer who wants a quick demo of OBIEE. They sent us as data source csv files. I migrated the Excel files for ease of use, but Excel files seem to have limitations on how I can combine columns, such as the concatenation and formatting.

I then loaded them in a database Oracle Express Edition, assuming that more "database" functionality would be placed at my disposal. I managed to load in the Administration tool, but the answers gives me the following error when I try to view the results of the Express database:

ODBC driver returned an error (SQLExecDirectW).

Check your TNSNAMES file, see if it points to the correct server / db.

  • JDeveloper ADF 12 c with oracle database 10g

    Hi all

We have purchase a license for oracle application server 10g and 10g R2 database.

my request is that we could use the Jdeveloper 12 c with ADF against the above specifications?

If Yes, how much would it cost?

our Organization cannot afford the latest versions of oracle. (this is why we are stuck at the 10g database).

I want to develop an application for our organization using jdeveloper ADF.

    Kindly guide me.

This is not a sales forum. As I have already said, you should contact an Oracle sales person who can answer your question. There are ways of possible migration which will save you money (for the purchase of new licenses).

I'm not saying you must upgrade to 12 c. You can develop applications using the old technology using jdev 10 g with OAS 10 g and Oracle DB 10 g.

If you want to use a newer technology (jsf2.0...), you need to update because these are not available in 10g. The issue if you need to update to 11g or 12 c (jdev), you must answer yourself and can ask the seller too. 12 c is the latest technology and the question is whether you need later. 11g if jdev version that is used internally by Oracle and is on the marked a period of time.

  • Need help with Oracle Database Backup & Restore Cold

    Environment:

    Oracle Version: 11.2.0.4

    Platform: AIX

A few weeks ago, I had updated my Oracle 10.2.0.1 to 11.2.0.4 database. The customer changed his mind and now I downgrade to 10.2.0.1. Unfortunately, the compatibility setting is set to 11.2.0.4. So I can't use the lower upgrade scripts.

I had taken a cold backup of the database before the upgrade. Unfortunately, I missed save logs for recovery.

Is there a way I can always downgrade / recovery 10.2.0.1 with cold back? or is it simply not possible without the backup of redo logs.

    Thanks in advance.

    rogers42

I had taken a cold backup of the database before the upgrade. Unfortunately, I missed save logs for recovery.

And what do YOU mean by "had taken a cold backup"?

Because in addition to what John said, you also need the correct initialization file.

Do you have a return of this init file which was taken at the same time as the backup?

I had updated my Oracle 10.2.0.1 to 11.2.0.4 database.

I suggest that you first reinstall the 10.2.0.1 version or Oracle before recovering your cold backup.

You must use the EXACT name of the folder structure and file that have been used originally.

See my response in this thread a few years ago:

    Re: Restore incompatible cold backup

You will be able to simplify this process, some given that your backup is consistent, but the steps should help you to understand what to do.

One of my answers in THIS thread has real details for each of the steps in the other thread
