  • KB2781197 security update fails with code 80073712

    Hello

I bought a new laptop a few days back. All right. I've updated a lot, but now I have this problem. I don't use windows defender so maybe that is the problem. But I just wanted to be sure.
I tried troubleshooting and it resolved the problem. He said "You're computer up-to-date" or something. But then I checked again updates the same update was there, so I clicked on install and the problem cropped up again.
Like I said I don't use not Windows Defender cuz I have Trend Micro but I just wanted to know if this is the problem. So, just to see if that was causing the problem, I have activated Windows defender and tried the update again, but not its use. He just showed "Download update 17%" and then he said: "some updates not installed wee. Error: Code 80073712' any help?

    Thank you

If the trend is causing the problem, then it should have worked when I disabled it

Not necessarily.  Some AV are known to cause interferences simply by the fact to be installed, for example their hooks are still there in the registry and it could mean that they call even though internally they cannot do anything.  You would then have to be sure to uninstall.  While you might encounter a problem more than a pack of AV is known to have: their uninstall procedure is not completely cleaned, so you may need to try to find a program to use after cleaning.

The system starts well and runs - BUT I cannot now be updated because when I access "Windows Update" it always returns this error message.
Also, none of the messages in your "appliesto" step 2 recommended link will be applied effectively.
As far as I know - we have a standard system and I just ran again ONCE a full system virus etc check - all clean.

Because it enters the update process, and then always closes with this specific message (which as I said is NOT in your list of error messages), which SHOULD tell your software writers where is the problem.

    Hi TeresaReynolds,

    ·         Update fails with error code 9 48?

    ·         Are you facing this problem with a particular update or all updates?

    ·         Remember to make changes to the computer, after which the issue started?

    Try the following steps:

    Step 1:

Temporarily disable the antivirus on the computer running software and check if it helps:

    Disable the anti-virus software

    Caution:
Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you do not disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network during the time that your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

    Step 2:

Reset Windows components updates default and check to see if it helps:
