KB973687 - msxml3.dll msxml6.dll - services.exe uses excessive virtual memory, the performance impact on the first logon after restart

Since the installation of fix KB973687, I had several SP2 and SP3 systems exhibit behavior that makes them unusable until after the first logon is completed, which can take up to 20 minutes.   I've identified the patch (KB973687) and DLLs, that it will update the origin of the problem, but uninstalling the patch does NOT return to normal operation.

I need to understand how to upgrade these systems WindowsXP SP2 and SP3 to restore normal operation, reinstalling Windows, programs, and settings is an expensive solution.

The performance problem is caused by services.exe slowly consumes about 1.5 GB of virtual memory, and then slowly releasing.  This seems to be triggered by the first logon after restart, this connection is very slow, the screen is blank for most of it, there might be failures of allocation memory during logon.  Once complete this opening of session and memory usage returns to normal levels, recording and return to work normally as do other operations until the system is restarted.

Spent a lot of time working with SysInternals Process Explorer, trying to find what specific service might be involved, lightweight system for bare essential services with no luck.

KB973687 seems to offer only two files msxml3.dll and msxml6.dll.  Uninstalling this patch, resettlement V3 and V6 of the XML parser fail to restore normal operation.

Not all systems seem to have place still restrict the differences.  Systems that are appear to be the oldest, with Windows XP has been installed for at least a year, installed Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat.

Looking for these forums and the Internet, I believe that many have encountered this problem, but have not is it this level of analysis, seem most attribute it to a virus, I see several start explorer.exe manually, I didn't know all the alternatives before reinstalling Windows.

Found the solution, the following has been fixed in System Cleaner of Comodo 2.2.129172.4:

"For some strange reason, after changing some settings of the system with the CSC LastGood.tmp Directoy began to constantly be read from my hard drive. This would occur up to about 90 to 99% of my memory was used and then stopped, begin to free the memory, and the system began to slowly to function normally.
I used the process explore from sysinternals to help diagnose the problem with any process other than services.exe using memory.

I used sysinterals filemonitor to see LastGood.tmp directory has been read repeatedly.
After you have uninstalled CSC the problem has been resolved. »

Even with the effort to find the solution, it was better to reinstall.  Hope this solution helps others.

  • CPU at 100% use, services.exe using 50 to 70% +.

    I've upgraded from Vista to Win 7 on day of release and had no problems until recently. In recent days, my CPU usage will boost 100% at irregular intervals and stay there for a long period of time. When I check the Task Manager and view the processes from all users, services.exe is fluctuating, anywhere from the low 50 to 70% in low use. When the computer works normally, services.exe is close to the high single digit. I uninstalled and programs that I installed immediately before the occurrence of the problem (and it happens again as I type this) and I ran full virus/malware using Microsoft Security Essentials scans and the scanner online ESET. Both are some adware stuff and not withdrawn, but no virus or malware problems. This happened for several days and made my computer almost unusable, and I'm in a fix what to do or where to look next. I hate for resettlement because the original installation was so recent, if all the tips I can try to avoid again would be great. Thank you!

    Why you turn off automatic updates?

    There are between the two options. I just set it to notify. When it is practical, I go to the Microsoft Update slte and use the custom (not Express) option. This gives the user full control of the update of trial.

    You will have a better idea of the cause of the problem using Process Explorer.

    With svchost.exe provide us a list of services using the process. There are number of processes that are using svchost.exe, so we need to know that we provide more targeted assistance. Right click on the process, click on properties and look at the Services tab.

    Solution Explorer. exe has a number of subprocesses. Select the sub-process, click Properties and check the Services tab.

    Have you recently changed all types of starting any service. This often leads to the problem. Users often disable a reflection of service to speed up the system performance. In practice what is done is of one or several programs to malfunction.

    Without the help of Adobe I tried to use the AdobeCreativeCloudCleanerTool.

    In the user guide for AdobeCreativeCloudCleanerTool Adobe says contact us if there are errors in the log after you run this tool and guess what there are errors in the log file, but there is no way to contact the Support from Adobe and to get this other file for them. I've been a customer of creative cloud for months, and use that I got from her was ridiculously low all this lack of reliability. I really miss the days you installed only once a year and maybe fix something and then you were set for a year of cruise with your Adobe products. I am very disappointed, and unless Adobe can help I'll leave Adobe forever because there is no excuse to sell something that does not work and do not provide support at the same time.     Is there a setting in the FAKE ID CS6 utility that will allow me to use only the first sentence in a legend to include in a list of numbers?

    Willard Wharf, Cocoa, Florida, 1887.   It was the first blah blah blah of cocoa.  Photo by a dead guy.  with the permission of a lovely old lady whose grandmother collected it.

    In the example above, the whole passage is currently formatted with a paragraph style sheet in the Arno Pro Caption.  When I'm done, I would like to have this first phrase or sentence in "BOLD", which I planned to do with a character style sheet.  The rest will be normal.

    Now I understand more how the TOC utility works, I wonder, can I do a paragraph for the sentence of the title style and a second paragraph style for the remaining text in the legend that follows in the affirmative, how to make sure that the second paragraph will follow on the same line where ever the first paragraph style ends?  Nested styles, perhaps?  If the nested styles are the way to go, any comments or pointers to the simplest strategy to do this work will be appreciated.

    Legends do not match.  Some have a name and date; others are a title phrase or sentence, follow, sometimes up to several sentences.  In General, however, there is only one sentence after the title. I also usually a "courtesy of...". "statement recognizing the source of the photo.

    I'm a newbie using id cs6, for the first time, to format a book.  I'm enjoying using the program, but some details lead me sometimes at a stop.

    My computer freezes several times a day.  I have to wait several minutes to get it working again.  When it starts up, it shows a window saying c:\windows\system32\svchost.exe uses a lot of memory.  What is the cause for this?

    2 did you a recent software or changes to the material on the computer?

    3. This occurs when you use a specific application or all applications?

    Step 1:

    You can check in safe mode and check if it uses the same energy...

    Step 2:

    If you are not faced with the question in safe mode, then you can try to perform a clean boot and see if it helps.

  • ICloud using photo library for the first time

    I am considering switching to iCloud photo library for the first time - mainly so I'll be able to use the new functionality of memories in iOS 10. However, I have quite a large library of Photos on my Mac and I'm worried about the mistakes of synchronization, bugs and any damage my irreplaceable photos. I have a Time Machine backup, but each backup on which generally only lasts a week or so, and with a large library of errors can take some time to appear. Should I be worried? Are there precautions I need to take?

    In view of all the people who use it, there are very few messages on issues. Since you have a backup, you can still recover. You can consider to get a 2nd external and make a copy of your photo library in order to have 2 backups. Depending on the size of your library, you may need to purchase additional iCloud storage as free storage space is 5 GB. With a large number of photos, it will take much time to complete the synchronization. Some people have posted their s took 2 to 4 weeks. Our respective synchronization went well and we had no problem.

  • When you use a wired keyboard, the first key I press is ignored and the following keys are recognized.

    I use Windows 7 Ultimate, with automatic updates.  This just happened recently.  I have not had this problem in the past.  I recently had problems to install a wireless adapter, but the issue has been resolved.  When I login, the password is recognized (apparently don't ignore the first key), but when you use an application, such as Google search, the first character is lost.  If I press the first button, it works.  This seems to be the same in any application.  Thanks for any help you can provide.
