Keythley 196 via Agilent 82357 B

Hello

I'm trying to connect with my DMM 196 Keythley, via a USB <-->controller GPIB 82357 b Agilent. I followed the steps described here. In MAX, I see my instrument, and I can communicate with him.

I downloaded this driver, but his does not. Can someone help me?

What do you mean by ' will not '? The driver is old and not supported. If it uses functions GPIB instead of VISA, you'll have to rewrite it. Look at the block diagram.

Activation of the NI-VISA for Tulip Passport

For software OR recognize the Agilent material, you must activate the Passport NOR VISA for Tulip. It is a software module that is included with NI-VISA for support of Agilent material and is not enabled by default. Use the NI Measurement and Automation Explorer (MAX NOR) to activate the passport for Tulip.

In versions 3.0 and later of NEITHER MAX, you can do:

    Beginning NOR MAX
    Click Tools > NI-VISA > VISA Options...
    In the tree, select passports.
Select the passport for the Tulip checkbox.
Click Save to save the settings
Output OR MAX, wait a few seconds and restart NI MAX (you must restart NI MAX for your changes to take effect).

For details specific to your version of MAX to OR see documentation of NOR.

    It worked like a charm.

  • Agilent 82357 B GPIB/USB, problem with distributed applications

    Hello everyone,

I am developing software that communicates with an instrument, with USB, RS232, Ethernet and GPIB interface

On my development PC, I can communicate with my instrument using a 82357 B Agilent GPIB - USB converter, without any problem. (and other interfaces as weel)

I have deployed the application using the Installer application on the target computer Builder. The application works with USB, RS232 and Ethernet interfaces, but I don't see the GPIB interface in the control of VISA resource name.

I followed the advice given by OR when you use a converter USB GPIB of Agilent (Tulip active...)

I did the following tests on the target computer:

-J' installed MAX, and I can communicate with the VISA test panel using the GPIB-USB converter.

-J' made a small application with the VISA resource find included

-If I unplugged the converter USB/GPIB instrument, the VISA to find the function return resource: GPIB0::INTFC, COM3, COM4, LPT1 COM7

-If I plug the converter to the instrument, the function of resource VISA finds return nothing.

-If I run the interactive command of VISA, I got the following error:

Cannot find the resource by using expression? " »

    error: BFFF003A

    Name of the State VI_ERROR_INV_SETUP

I'm using LabView 8.5 under windows XP.

I have included in the installer

    -Run LabView 8.5

    -VISA 4.4 duration

The target computer is running Vista.

Thanks for your help and your support.

    Hello everyone,

For your information, I have solved the problem in desinstalling then reinstalling my installation software on the target computer.

I still don't know where the problem was, but it's working now. (even with the version of the driver 15.0 agilent)

    Thanks anyway for your help.

  • Streaming (record) data of Agilent 6674 interface GPIB-USB powered

    Hello

I would like to save the output in more than 200 HZ to my power supply CC 6674 A Agilent with LabVIEW 8.2. Agilent 82357 A GPIB-USB interface is used to connect the power to the computer. And I used the instrument for Agilent 66XX driver I downloaded from OR.

For reading continuous data, I put the read.vi in a while loop and data saved by writing in the file lvm. (just for the starter, not a good sense, though) Please see the attachment.

The problem I have is that I can only save data in ~ 10 HZ then that what I need is at least 200 HZ.

It's my first time to the instrument control and I just had a little experience in the acquisition of data before. I had some confusion as below: no I have gained a point each time the while loop is executed? If so, I guess that the time for each loop (and therefore my data rate) depends on my operating system and the computer I have.

How many points will be acquired whenever the read.vi is run? That depends on the set 'count bytes' in vi or a single point anything? Are there other ways to get the data more efficiently? (want to write your own driver etc...) Any help would be much appreciated.

    See you soon,.

    Bohan

The rate at which you can run the VI is dependent on the instrument/GPIB bus and use of Scripture on a Measurment file. Yes, you get a voltage reading and a current reading with each iteration and the number of bytes read is so that you can get a complete reading.

I suggest you delete the entry in the file of the measurement of the loop to see how long takes of the instrument. That would be your maximum rate. If it's fast enough, use a different method to save the data. Architecture of producer/consumer if you pass the data to another loop via a queue would be a way.

  • Agilent 488.2 with Labview

I have an Agilent 82357 B USB GPIB and have provided the code that uses GPIB read and write functions. I have installation OR MAX and Agilent connection Expert correctly. The program doesn't error but write and read timeout functions and does not work. I troubleshoot wrote simple code using VISA and they work. I wrote the same code using the GPIB functions and it does not work and after I run code written in VISA no onger work. I know that Agilent replaces the gpib - 32.dll with their version which redirects to their code.

My question is, is there anyway to make the GPIB LabVIEW calls working with Agilent GPIB device and of course library GPIB? I think that the answer is, but I saw a post where someone said they do. I want just a definitive answer until I give the bad news.

While there were some vendors implementing their GPIB drivers with the same function calls or use (ibwrt, Bird, etc.). I don't think Agilent has already done this and I used the maps of Agilent since the time they were still Hewlett-Packard. I'd love to see the post where somebody said, they could use the LabVIEW GPIB functions with a controller of Agilent.

So, the answer is not to my knowledge. What you need to do is to use VISA. Enable Tulip support NOR-MAX and it should work.

  • VISA (Hex 0xBFFF001E) error the specified state, the attribute is not valid or is not supported as defined by the resource.

    Hello

First of all that I must say I just starting with control of the instrument using Labview. For this reason, it is possible that the problem I have is easy to solve. However, I am looking for any solution for the forum, but unfortunately I can't fint anything.

While the situation is this: I'm looking to plug a power Analyzer (Yokogawa WT1800) with the PC through GPIB. To achieve this, I use the USB/GPIB Interface of Agilent 82357 B. The connection is done correctly because I can see and communicate with him through the Explorer NI MAX.

In order to achieve control of the instrument using Labview, I downloaded and installed the driver of Yokogawa WT1800 (Driver instruments ykt1800) using the NI Instrument Driver Finder tool. The problem I have is that when I run the examples, I find the following error message:

Error 1073807330 has occurred to the property (arg1) node in Yokogawa WT1800 Series.lvlib: Initialize.vi-> Yokogawa WT1800 series continuous measurement Normal.vi

    Possible reasons:

VISA: (Hex 0xBFFF001E) the State specified, the attribute is not valid or is not taken in charge as defined by the resource.

I tried to change the input of the open Visa arguments vi because I think that this is where is the problem, but I can't reach any solution. The following image is attached to the block diagram of the initialize.vi:

    Any help is appreciated.

    Thank you.

I suspect the redirect property. Try to remove it.

  • Configuration problem?

I'm new to Labview. I can't connect with 3458A. It works with 34401. I use a USB/GPIB from Agilent 82357 B interface. I have a VEE program that works with the 3458A. I think I have a driver or configuration problem. I am at a total loss, any help would be appreciated.

I got it to work with the correct command. Thanks for your help. I have much better understand how this works now.

  • GPIB initialization

    Hi all

I am a beginner in LabVIEW, especially on the control of my instrument (vector Network Analyzer, HP8714C) using the interface GPIB/USB (Agilent 82357 B). I can get the information about the interface GPIB on MAX, but I have an EVDR error when I run the LabVIEW<->GPIB.vi.  I try to initialize this GPIB using GPIB initialization function, is this correct? When I run this VI I found error again. I don't know what kind of error. I just joined the GPIB initializaion according to the MAX.

How can I solve this problem? Thak you.

Looks like you are trying to use the GPIB to lower level functions. You should not need to do. You must, instead, try to use VISA. Is the 8714C just a version of different frequency of 8714B? If so, you can try the drivers that are available on the IDNET.

  • Problem with 2 GPIB instruments

    Hello everyone,

I work in a program with LabView 2015 this control 2 instruments, the Rohde & Schwarz Smiq02b signal generator and Analyzer of spectrum n9010a Agilent EXA. I use the cable Agilent - 82357 B USB/GPIB to connect my laptop with these two instruments (PC-> EXA-> Doganovic). I also installed the two drivers of instruments from their official websites.

The program worked correctly until I had to format my computer and reinstall LabView but something wrong now.

The problem comes when I run the program, is unable to initialize the SMIQ02b, the program stops and opens a new window of block diagram. This block diagram belongs to a block driver the instruments within this scheme, there is a VISA write flashing block.

This only happens when I'm initializing two instruments in the same program, if I create a new VI and use the Doganovic only, I have no problem.

I don't know what is happening, it is very strange that it worked well before, and now this happens.

That's what I installed in my laptop:

    -2015 LabView
    -NI Device Drivers (included NI-VISA 14.0 and NOR-488. 2 14.0)

-Agilent IO libraries Suite (configured as secondary VISA) 17.1

-Passport OR VISA for tulip IT

I'll be very grateful if someone could help me with this.

    Thank you!

You set a breakpoint, it's what's causing the break.

  • LabVIEW: Failed the request for Identification

    Hi all

I am new to LabVIEW and all of the subject instrument interfacing.

First of all, I am trying to connect my HP8110A pulse generator from my computer using the GPIB/USB (Agilent 82357 B) interface, and I NI-VISA (5.4) and Agilent VISA all installed respectively. I have NEITHER-488. 2 installed as well (3.1.2).

When I connect the machines together, I can find my Instrument and GPIB on config MAX and IO and LabVIEW I can find the Alias for my insturment in the menu dropdown. I guess that this suggests that they are well connected.

What I doubt is that when I connect my insturment and find on MAX, so I try to find the instrument for LabVIEW Driver, I can see my instrument under connected Instruments > HEWLWTT-PACKARD

When I click to install it, I find (in fact it me does not conduct research, because it cannot identify the manufacturer).

So what I did, I installed Agilent 81110 it supports rather than I can see model HP8110A. Is it bad to do?

Other that that, when I run the Test VISA Panel on the instrument, I get an error when I try to read and it the error message: timeout expired before the operation is complete.

I tried to change the time-out and the bytes to be read the settings but still nothing changes.

Finally, on IO config when I try to activate Agilent 488, I get a window asking me to restart computetr thr and try again. I did this and still had the same thing.

Can you please help me with all these problems, and tell me if they are related?

    Concerning

Of course, you will get an error in query ID as you use the HP81110A driver to control a HP8110A. The driver expect to receive the HP81110A of the * IDN? query, so it will generate error-1074003951 (0xBFFC0011) if the received string is different. Any wire a Boolean constant False on the pod ID query the Initialize vi in order to bypass this check.

Note that some old devices do not meet the * IDN? Request, but I don't know if the case of the 8110 has. Regarding the compatibility of a driver, you will need to check the manuals to see if they use the same commands.

  • Connection of agilent E3631A DC power supply to the computer via a RS 232 for labview

Im trying to access the computer via a cable RS 232 for sully power DC E3631A agilent use labview to operate the instrument. But the instrument is now detected by the computer and when I check instruments instruments connected tools-tool-find, told me no device not connected. I don't know if MAX is the instruments of automatic detection on the serial port.  You can contact the instrument using Hyperterminal or something like that?  Also make sure you serial port settings are all correct (it is the most common reason).

  • How to order a N5230A Agilent with LabView, via LAN?

I was looking on the forums, but has not found the solution to my problem. Could someone help me?

    Thank you very much

I found the solution to my problem.

  • How to connect Agilent 8163 b via the serial port

I have a problem connecting to the serial port with Agilent 8163 b. The driver that I use is driver_vxipnp_816x_4_1_4.exe. The problem always message display "Visa resource not found. Check the HPIB-Bus address"when I use the components inside the"hp816x tree.vi ". However, I have no error if I use normal read and write VISA.

Y does it can someone help me answer my question? Thanks in advance.

    Thanks for the reply.

I face a problem that you use with GPIB-USB-HS due to the physical dimension, as shown. The width between the remote locking connector (FIR) and (w1) GPIB connector to the appliance is too small for the GPIB-USB-HS (w2) connect to this topic. If I unplug the connector RIL, tunable Laser will not be activated. So I have a few questions as follows.

    1. the LabView can always activate the tunable Laser if I unplug the connector at RISK in my case via GPIB?

    2. the LabView is compatible with GPIB connector (model x 10833) Agilent?

    3. is there a way to solve the problem posed by the RIL connector unplugged?

    The drop box

    P/S: version please is 4.84 to 8163 b.

Thanks for the help and I'm too new in this field.

  • the installation files that are necessary to control a 33210 agilent has via USB

    Hello

I'm trying to control agilent 33210 via USB to a produce an arbitrary waveform using labview. The installation files I need? Obviously labview 86, ivi specific driver for 33210a, and? After you install labview 86, the program prompted me to install pack pilot devices, which I did, but he asked for disk 3 that does not exist in the package, I downloaded on ni.com.

BTW, is there a guide on where to go from there? I'm more c/matlab programming and graphic...

    Thank you very much

    Hi User2009,

Once you have installed LabVIEW and NI-VISA, you can do the rest of LabVIEW.

    The simplest process is:

    1. Go to tools' Instrumentation' find instrument Driver and to use the finder driver tool to download and install the appropriate driver (I recommend getting the pilot LabVIEW Plug - and - Play project).
    2. "Once you have installed the driver open the example finder and navigate to hardware input and output" Drivers of instruments ' LabVIEW Plug and Play and find an appropriate example.
    3. Select your device and run the example to make the work of communication course.
    4. Use the example as a starting point and make any changes you need.

I got to have an Agilent 33120 at my office, so I recorded a quick video for you to the process described above.  I use GPIB, but the process must be the same for USB.

The only thing in your code is a reading? How do you set up the meter manually before taking the action? What is the arming mechanism? What is the opening time? What is the sensitivity/resolution?

I think the problem is with your configuration and can respond to study the manual or by asking Agilent.
