  I'm looking to use a dynamic drop-down menu to query a Recordset... I use Colfusion to import a MS Access database that contains the following fields: 'Date template', 'Name', 'Points' and 'target '.  Whenever updates to the database, the field 'model' contains the date and time, the model has been run.  I figured out how to create a drop-down Dynamics using SELECT DISTINCT 'model date' and have also figured out how to create the dynamic recordset to display display the data 'Name', 'Points' and 'target '.

  I want the user to select the "Date of model" in the drop-down menu, press "submit" button and then have the appropriate 'Name', 'Points' and 'Target' data surveyed and below.

  The application must take the selection in the drop-down list of 'model date' and then query the fields 'name', 'points' and 'target' for this particular "date model.

  I admit that my knowledge of SQL and Coldfusion is not the best, but it seems that it is a fairly simple task and miss me just one or two pieces of gear and put everything.

  The database essentially looks like this:

  Date pattern... Name... Points of... Goal

  01/08/2010-08:00... DOE... 1, 250... 5.55%

  01/08/2010-08:00... DOE... 850... 2.35%

  01/08/2010-08:00... Bill Smith... 11, 832... -123,23%

  The drop-down list shows only "model dates."

  For example, if on 01/08/2010 08:00 has been selected in the drop-down list, I want the following text is displayed:

  Name.................. Points of... Goal

  Jane Doe... 850.......................2.35%

  My second paragraph speaks only to display the filtered data, so I guess that's what you're looking for, but not yet quite sure based on what are the other answers.

  But I'm on anyway-

  On your first page, note the instance name of your drop down menu, for example "ModelDate".  Make sure that it is in a form and set the form action on the page where you want to display your data, set the form POST action.

  On the results page, create a table with cells for each of the data items to display. Create a recordset that you can do in Simple mode. Allow to select all and the value of the fall of filter down to the database field that contains the Date of your model. In the box on the right, select "=". the next list dropdown selct "Variable form" and the name of the variable type in the name of the instance of falling down on the first page.

  I may not have the terminology right it's memory.

  On the data tab, expand your recordset and locate each of the database fields to display.  Drag each of them to the cell in the table on the page where you want it to display.  The cells in a table should be in a linear row.

  Now select the table row buy by selecting the TR tag in the tags just above the properties panel.  In the server behaviors tab, select the region of repetition and "All Records"

  Publish your pages and test!

  This is because (at least in the example you provided) to two factors:

  • A 'feature' the theme 21 Pull Down Menu model list, which seems to be so designed as not to display a link to the current page. The current definition of model sublist will render an image of separator rather than the list entry/link:

  • Your entries of the list all link to the same page.

  So to determine which model of list item to apply using the list input parameter current that current page is the target by default, APEX motor sees all of the entries in the form of links to the current page and presents them by using the current model sublist list item template as a separator.

  All of your entries of the list really related to the same page? If so, why is this? What you trying to do? There may be other ways to address the issue that you have not considered.

  If you really must use a dropdown menu with multiple links to the same page here, then there are two options:

  • Continue to use the list template Pull Down Menu provided, but put in place a framework of Expression PL/SQL or SQL query to determine the current list entry.
  • Create a copy of the Pull Down Menu model list and change the current model sublist definition so that the list entry appears in fact.

  Hi Chomp,

  When in design mode:

  If you highlight the Hiarchy palette dropdown, it remains highlighted? or the flip pointing to someother object?

  If you click on it directly in the workspace. It shows "drop" in the palette object for the "Type"?  or something unexpected?

  If she will not be highlighted or say something unexpected, it is your question - I suspect by copying and pasting the drop something has gone wrong.

  If so, you must get rid of these bad objects. My experience is that if you have bad objects you can have difficulty to remove directly and may need to remove the parent (the tablerow or subform that they have).

  I'm very curious to know if this is your problem. Please post an update when you get a chance.

  Go slowly when you copy and paste - make sure you that Designer is finished with this operation before starting the next batter - it takes more time than you may realize. Additionally, make sure that the object palette indicates that you are where you think you are, before pasting. After you are done paste an object, Designer has an odd routine indication of the Master Page as object type when its done. If so, set the focus again for which you want to paste, before sticking another menu drop down always in your Clipboard. If your drop down boxes in rows in the table, think about copy and insert any lines containg your DDL

  Finally, 73 DDLS 73 points? Wow! IMHO, 73 points is too much for a user. Consider using the preOpen and script, the filling of the DDL event. If you do this then you can fill in the with a shorter list once the user has made some choices. Just a thought.

  I'm doing a subform 'hidden' when a drop-down list object is null and 'visible' when the drop is not null. I use the following script:

  To start I place this script to the output of the dropdown event.

  You also have a subform without name, which requires you to solve the node. This is inefficient, so if you name the subform, you will be able to use a simple reference (see: http://assure.ly/kUP02y).

  The main problem with the script is that when you test equality (in the if/else statement), you must use a double equals sign (==).

  So, if you have renamed the subform "Subform4:, the script would become:

• Drop-down menu used with anchor on the long table of data links

  I have a page on our site where we used a drop shape with anchor tags to let the visitor easy access to specific locations within a long table of data on the same page. Recently, I noticed that the anchors are walking around is no longer the tags in the page but only the beginning of the table anyway. I don't know if over time a few additional codes may have been added to the page that is not in conflict with the form of drop down menu, or if it's something else.   Looks like there are a good number of errors html on this page, some of them have to do with using the code of the named anchor.

  Looks like you have placed the anchors between the openingand the child of the opening. Content cannot go there, move them in theTags and see if that helps.

  It could be something else however, html errors are one of the main causes of the problems of display/functionality. Visit the validator to http://validator.w3.org to clean up your errors. If you work with the code clean and correctly positioned anchors, after return and we can take a closer look.

  I saw that too. For now, the workaround is that if you select 'Edit watermark,' when you are done editing be sure to reselect the same watermark. If you do not, the watermark menu will be empty.

  In Excel, you can automatically fill a drop-down list with values within a specific range of cells through 'Data Validation '.

  Numbers have no drop-down menu, but it doesn't have a Menu called data format.  It is easy to populate a drop-down list with values manually; Select the cells that contain different values which you want to make a choice and format on the Shortcut Menu. The result will be something very similar to your screenshot.

  But in doing so fully automatic as in Excel is not currently possible in number.

  Numbers provides an attractive work environment, but if you frequently need to exchange documents with your boss and your boss uses Excel, then better use Excel.

  I'm under 20.2 FF on Mac OS X 10.8.3. I recently found this item in the drop-down menu cannot be selected by clicking, although it can be selected by pressing 'enter' on the keyboard. I don't have any add-ons installed, so that shouldn't be the problem. Like going to http://www.newegg.com/ and click on the search menu, I can't select all the options.   The file, editing, display and help tabs that were on the previous version of FireFox Menu bar top are apparently incorporated into the "FireFox" drop-down box in the latest version of the browser. I was unable to open those tabs earlier, so by the recommendation of the Support Forum, I have Firefox on my laptop. Now not only the tabs above are missing after this reset, but the drop down menu does not open in any submenus. What I see now is a box on the surrounded black screen, but sub menu selections such as save as, print, copy etc are not shown in the box. This is why the Navigator is not functional in its current state.
  Does anyone have a fix for this problem that will not delete my favorites and other content stored on Firefox? Please save me to return to Internet Explorer.

  Follow these steps.

  1. press the Windows key + R logo to bring up the run dialog box. In the Open box, copy and paste the following text line.

  Shell: {80F3F1D5-FECA-45F3-BC32-752C152E456E}

  Press OK.
