LACP. Recommendation of etherchannel, PaGP or static

Hi all

Some time ago I have red somewhere that the recommended way to create portchannels is to use the static method 'on' configuration. However, I am not able to find this information. Anyone here have a reference to the recommended method to configure portchannels?

I found the following document:

http://www.Cisco.com/en/us/docs/switches/LAN/catalyst6500/IOS/12.2Sx/best/practices/recommendations.html#wp1046803

This document does not have an explicit statement that the method is preferable. Could someone help me with this please?

Hi Michael,

I would stay away from MODE in chanenling, a large part of the time that it leads to the switching loop.

On the other hand, PAGP/LACP allows dynamically negotionation of etherchannel a being owners and the other open standard. LACP even allows active / standby group of several links and using some of them, but the others are in standby mode incase any member string fails.

I'm not sure if it is registered anywere you can use on PAgp LACP or Pagp on LACP.

If the grouping between the cisco devices, so we prefer to use the Pagp as is the owner of cisco.

Kind regards

Reem.

    Hello friend

I'm sorry to do this, but LACP is not supported on the platform of 7200, GEC (Gigabit EtherChannel) only manual/static configuration is allowed here.

In addition, your IOS version is too old and is not classifiable and configurable since December 28, 2007. Please see the link below:

  • Balancing on etherchannel

I'm trying to aggregate the 2 NIC physical rather than run in failover mode.

I changed the grouping of cards NETWORK load balancing for the Group vswitch and port to "from route of IP hash." With the switch etherchannel configured on 'static', I can ping the box from the VM, but I can't reach it with the switch on ' 802.11ad (LACP).» I've read elsewhere in the communities that ESXi 4 does not support LACP (but that it supports 802.11ad - are - they the same thing?). The only choice my switch offers for etherchannel is static or lacp. Which one should I use?

When you look in the configuration section, there is a situation of group vswitch alert notification both port that says 'the function of hash IP load balancing does not support physical cards in standby mode. Change all cards pending the status of the uplink. Where I would make this change?

    Thanks for your time.

On the vSwitch properties. You can choose what uplinks will be active. The KB http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1004048 have very detailed information on this subject.

  • Canon printers and time capsule

Every now and then I have to reset the TC to get my Canon ix6280 printer to communicate on the network.  It will print for awhile (maybe someday) and then lose the communication.  Anyone know what is happening and how to fix?  Everything works fine...

Don't know exactly the problem but recommends the following.

    1. keep the name short wireless, without spaces and pure alphanumeric characters. Best of less than 10 characters.

    2. password identical wireless, but can be from 8 to 20 characters.

3 TC in bridge to the main router can be difficult. I recommend that you use the static IP method.

    https://discussions.Apple.com/message/25135547?ac_cid=tw123456#

    4. set the channel 2.4 ghz wireless, so it does not change.

Ensure that the wireless signal is strong and no other signal is even close to the location of the printer. (you will need to use a wireless software Analyzer of some sort.. built into OS X.)

  • 9792 Configuration Error OR

    Hello
I am a new Member on these forums, I need help with the configuration of the gateway NI 9792.
First of all, my gateway powered and not in secure mode, the status light will blink twice, I read the factsheet, which implies that the gateway software has an error. Not how to fix the error.
I managed to configure the IP address of the gateway, but the device is not recognized on remote systems. I use the Ethernet 1 port for these tests.

If someone could help me with this problem please.

    Thank you for your attention.

    Hello there;

Therefore the NI 9792 is a remote controller; It will blink twice because that there is no software installed in the system, I recommend to format, set a static ip address, and then install the appropriate software. Don't forget that when you change address IP your PC must be in the same subnet as the device of the RT and you do you need to connect using a crossover cable.

In order to start using it, it must follow the following process:

0 check that you installed LabVIEW, NI WSN and LabVIEW RT in your computer

    1. make sure that all the DIP switches on your CompactRIO controller are in the OFF position.

For DIP switch that switches from left to right, put it on the OFF side.

2 disable network interfaces secondary, such as card access wireless on a laptop computer and disable your firewall

    3. set the DIP switch; Safe Mode, IP Reset and No App to position IT and restart the device

    4. Expand remote systems

5 right-click the NI 9792 and select format the drive. This will define the IP address of 0.0.0.0 and formats throughout the system, it may take a few minutes until what you see under devices and interfaces.

    6. change the device IP address to static and the IP address you of the PC to get on the same network. (Control Panel > Network & Sharing Center > Local Area Connection > properties > Internet Protocol Version 4 > properties > set an IP address and the subnet.) Don't forget to put all dip switches to OFF

7 install the software. Expand the CompactRIO item under remote systems, right-click on the element of software and select Add/Remove programs. Under the version in time real LabVIEW you want, select the OR RIO set currently installed on the development computer. Select the set Add ons software you want to install. Support NI Scan Engine can be selected from this menu.

There is a guide for the cRIO here, it works exactly in the same

    Good luck

  • EA4500 and OJ8600 of HP printer router interface questions all in one.

Hello I am running IE11, WIN8.1, 1 TB HD, 12 GB of memory with EA4500 router from Linksys connected to the computer via an Ethernet cable.  The computer is a Lenovo desktop (K430). I ran a test installation of HP troubleshooting on the interface between the computer and EA4500.  I opened my Linksys Smart Wi - FI to perform the following two tasks. The HP Installation troubleshoot suggested I should put MAC address filtering to off I did without any problems. Installation troubleshooting HP also suggested I have find the MAC address of my printer and add it to my list of devices that are allowed to access my networh. How can I do this? Thank you.

You should make a print from the printer setup page and who should detail you information on MAC and IP addressing. I recommend not to use Mac filtering because it is not necessary. I recommend that you configure a static IP address ON the printer, 192.168.1.86, that should be the default value of routers outside main pool DHCP de.100 thru.199. You will need to refer with the Lim and information on how to establish networks and set up the printer. Consult the user manual as well.

  • Table of DHCP reservation

I just assigned a manual static IP on my WiFi printer and reserved in the DHCP reservation Board. Which works very well.

The problem is, ALL the devices listed in this table, take the name of the device that is reserved, after you save the settings. Even if I change the name (something like "printer"), then all of the other devices also take this name, when I save the settings.

Is that all that I should be concerned about? I updated the firmware (made yesterday); is there something that I can or should do about it?

The changes take place in the 'Customer name' of the upper table column.

IT is recommended that you set a static IP address ON the device or put a reserve ON the router, not both. I recommend that you set static on the printer as it does not need much, if any, internet management or a router. IT what I do with my 3 printers.

I've set up the replacement. He also had the problem of connectivity but other features wireless everything has worked well. I could print by e-mail to a dedicated e-mail address and printing via my ipod using HP iprint app.

    Here's what I recommend:

1 set a static IP address, but make sure that it is outside the range of your router's DHCP.  If your router uses the range (.2 a.254, reduce the a.2 a.200 beach or something and then assign the printer apart from this, comme.220.)

  • I'm so frustrated! Help!

I have a printer can't print more B210 photosmart all-in-one series.  I'm on a Dell inspiron with Windows 7 64 bit and I have run out of Wireless DSL in the House.  There are two computers connected to the network and its computer print very well without any problems.  My computer sees the printer but cannot print.  I have reboooted my computer, the wireless router, the printer - uninstalled and reinstalled the printer software have set up both by the HP website and drive, troubleshooting, but nothing works.  I spent almost a whole day on that and my nerves are shot.  Can you help me?

Looks like the printer is to connect, but communication is not ideal or a firewall can prevent your connection.  The first step, I would recommend is to set a static IP address for your B210a Photosmart Plus.  I have a video below the steps to set a static IP address on a wireless HP printer in Windows 7 environment.

  • CSS files/oracle/webcenter/portalapp/shared / is not updated

    Hello

I created a portal with 11.1.1.7.0 application, I run this app with built-in server, I changed the server built-in to 10.3.6 instead of the original 10.3.5 as this blog "The Incident Archive: Jdeveloper 11.1.1.6 Server integrated upgrade to 10.3.6'." " I saved the CSS for the page template in the folder/oracle/webcenter/portalapp/shared/pagetemplates/css, as 'Oracle WebCenter training portal online', 'creation and use of the Page templates in portal Oracle WebCenter Applications'. However, after I've updated the CSS files and redeploy the application. I found that the application was still using the old CSS files. If I save the CSS files in other folders (< root app > / css), it works fine. I tried to clean up the temporary files of built-in server, also clean the SDM like this "Java ADF Webcenter UCM Weblogic SOA: ADF: clean your drs, mds using the Script file'." " It does not work. No idea how I can do with that? Thank you.

    Hi Timmy.

    "I created a portal with 11.1.1.7.0 application.

I think you mean you use JDeveloper 11.1.1.7, but how WebCenter version 11.1.1.7 or 11.1.1.8? Since 11.1.1.8 Oracle does not recommend using the / shared folder external CSS, Images or JS.

The second thing is on the CSS (not the skin) external storage in an SDM, path is not a good practice.

    Regarding your question:

Take a look at the packaging of the . EAR on the files inside. Inside should be a file called AutoGenerated.mar with your portal resources. Using WinRAR or another program study that the CSS is changed. Is maybe a problem of cache of your browser.

In addition, take a look at the web.xml file setting:

    org.apache.myfaces.trinidad.CHECK_FILE_MODIFICATION
    true

During the development of tour to true to instruct the server to check on changes to files in the case of iterative development is disabled.

When deploying in production environments, that it must return again to fake

    My recommendation is:

    • Put your static files (no portals resources) outside the MDS (oracle/webcenter/portalapp...)
    • With iterative development you don't have to reboot or redeploy the application when changing CSS, JS, page templates...

    I hope this helps.

    Kind regards.

  • Correct implementation of san iSCSI initiator swiSCSI vmware

Just look to see if I missed anything regarding my planned layout.

I have a Solaris 10 export server target group NIC-supported ZFS. If I understand correctly, the initiator of sw vmware does not support multipathing so I would be better served by using groups of portals target to assign the LUN to different groups of network cards to resources shared (at least fault tolerance) on the san and esx server and spread manually the IO?

    Is there a better way?

    Thank you!

LACP / LAG (foundry) / EtherChannel (cisco) / trunk (hp), any other name for the same thing.  It allows you to spread the load over several interfaces.  To use it, you must have several combinations of src - dst ip and connect to the same physical switch of multipile interfaces.  Separate switches, does mean no etherchannel.  You want switches for redundancy.  So, in this case, to get the best of both worlds, would need you 4 interfaces (2 per switch), or you need a together stackable switches (which makes the battery well enough in a virtual switch).  If you do not connect to a single switch with several interfaces, and establish a channel between them, then you need to use ip src - dst hash on the side pSwitch for load balancing and ip of the hash on the side of vSwitch. Otherwise, you will not use two network cards.  Now, if you have the pSwitch, the vSwitch and balancing of configured policy, you must have several IP src - dst to effectively use this load balancing policy.  So, you can use an interface vmkernel, in a channel of the ether, with multiple targets and who will use two network cards.  Or, you can have several vmkernel interfaces and spread your LUNS on them.  This can be done without the ether channel and with everything just a NETWORK card active for a vmkernel interface and the other NETWORK card active for the 2nd vmkernel, with each standby interface for another interface vmkernel NIC.  It's a simpler configuration.  Crossover is fine, but it limits how you talk and who speak to you.  Not much redundancy won here, but you decrease the chances of latency due to network devices.

  • LACP or PAGP aggregation of bandwidth

Is someone can you please tell me if I got a PAGP or LACP etherchannel between two ports together on a switch and two ports together on another switch if I'd get 2gig max flow.

    Hello!

To do this, it increments your available bandwidth, BUT this only applies to L2 Etherchannels.

Also, take in mind load balancing methods because if not properly implemented the traffic will not be balanced also, or one of the links you will get much more responsible.

Here is a document explaining that the balancing algorithms in case you want to dig deeper on this subject:

  • 3650 LACP etherchannel suspended

This new series of 3650 has been bugs me for a year. A lot of things that used to work is not now.

Over the last weekend, I upgraded a 3560 X to a 3650. The etherchannel seems to behave differently in 3650.

    Example,

    Interface Port-channel10
    switchport trunk allowed vlan 17.23
    switchport mode trunk

    interface GigabitEthernet1/0/11
    switchport trunk allowed vlan 17.23
    switchport mode trunk
    active in mode channel-group 10

    interface GigabitEthernet1/0/12
    switchport trunk allowed vlan 17.23
    switchport mode trunk
    active in mode channel-group 10

Now when this config is used in a 3560 X and the terminal is in mode standby (not to communicate LACP) ports go into I - autonomous State.

The same configuration is now placed in a same scenario 3650, and ports through s - suspended state.

This may not seem to be a big problem, until I try to send WOL for the terminal. Autonomous State, he will answer, but in the s state effectively the line protocol is down the WOL packet (suspended), cannot get there.

I was really disappointed after a year through versions 3.3.3 to 3.7.1 there is still funny issues with the 3650 series.

I hope someone is able to advise if they have a simple fix for this problem.

    Hello

Add the command no channel of port authority - disable the port-channel interface and this should do what you want for example, interface member will in particular (I) rather than the State Suspended (s) if it does not PDULACP. You may have to bounce the port-channel interface for that to be taken into account.

Take a read of the command in the section configuration LACP autonomous or independent Mode of the configuration for more details guide.

    Concerning

  • Failback when using Etherchannel and FCoE

I have an environment that I am able to dig in for the purposes of learning, but I can't it.  Since I can't make any changes to the environment and experience, I wanted to ask a few questions here.  I'm trying to figure out what that the failback option of virtual exchanges must be defined on when using FCoE and etherchannel.

    The environment consists of:

    • FCoE
    • 2 cards of CNA
    • EtherChannel
    • vPLEX
    • Cluster of metro
    • Nexus 5000

Each host connects to a single vDS and each portgroup is configured to use:

    • Load balance policy: route based on the hash of the IP
    • Active uplinks: two 10 GbE CNAs
    • Eve & uplinks used: no
    • Physical switch is configured for etherchannel.

The vSphere networking 5.5 guide says the following for failback on vDS trade option:

Failback Select Yes or no to disable or enable failback. This option determines how a physical card is returned to active duty after recovering from a failure. If failback is set to Yes (the default), the adapter is returned to active duty as soon as their recovery, moving the daughtercard, which resumed its accommodation, as appropriate. If failback is set to no, an adapter failing has been idle even after the recovery until another active adapter fails, requiring a replacement.

This evokes the assets & Eve links and since using etherchannel requires that all active links with no standby connection, this means that the restore option does not apply to etherchannel configurations?  Or applies to the way in which the load is re -distributed when a link comes back after having been conducted?

For example, that we have a portgroup with two uplinks (uplink1 & uplink2), load balancing policy, the hash value of the IP and physical switch ports are in an etherchannel configuration.  During the normal operation of the IP of the hash calculations (http://blogs.vmware.com/kb/2013/03/troubleshooting-network-teaming-problems-with-ip-hash.html) are made and the load is distributed across the two uplinks.  Let's say the physical switch that connects uplink2 in goes down.  The ESXi hosts connected to that vDS immediately come into uplink2 equation which means uplink1 would only result in the calculation of hash IP?  What is the impact of the automatic restore option when uplink2 is back?  If failback is set to no, uplink2 still wouldn't be in the equation?  If so, how you would get it back in the equation?  Or when the link is up is immediately shot down there regardless of the restore option?  It feels like I'm missing something here.

Also, I read that attributing no failback is recommended when using IP storage, because it can lead to port heartbeat that can cause performance issues with the storage.  But I also read that traffic to an etherchannel appears as a single MAC/connection address.  This recommendation apply in an etherchannel configuration?  Are port and MAC stir the same thing?  Or is beating port just at the moment where the link goes up and down and MAC beat is when the MAC's switch between two ports?

Sorry if these are fundamental questions, but not being a networking guy and not being is not able to experiment makes it hard.  Thanks for any help.

The Member State of the binding not arise unless the link is established on both sides.

I agree with the statement portfast. All the links go to an ESXi server do not participate in spanning tree protocols. The goal is to transition to a State of transfer immediately on the link turning upward. This must be paid regardless of the use of an OFFSET.

LACP will dynamically build the GAL and validate the configuration on both sides is correct. I prefer LACP (dynamic LAG) on any static sort of LAG, but this requires a switch on the side of vSphere distributed. If you have the VDS, using LACP. However, LACP does not solve the problem of covering tree (you still want to avoid using tree covering weight on the SHIFT going the ESXi host).

  • LACP using the 2 x 10G ports does not appear 20G?

    I currently have etherchannel configured 2 x 10g ports.
