  301 error code indicates that the hard drive is failing and must be replaced.

• Laptop HP G56 - 125NR GEL

  My machines operating system is Windows 7 64 bit. My machine freezes after 10 minutes, no matter if I'm on the net or desktop. There is no "any error message either. Ive already updated the latest version of the BIOS, but that has not helped all t. What can I do in addition to the BIOS update to get my laptop to stop the freezing?  I don't know if it is the touchpad or if I'm missing an update of the system... Can someone advise? Thank you

  Shut down the laptop.  Tap away at f10 you start Notepad to open the menu of the bios.  Under Advanced Options or diagnosis tab, you will find the possibility to run tests on the hard drive and memory.  Post back with the details of any error message.

  If the criteria above, try the following.

  In the Menu start, open the all programs, open accessories, right-click on command prompt and select "run as Administrator".  In at the prompt, type the following command and press ENTER.

  sfc/scannow                (Note that there is a space between sfc and /)

  Let the entire process, then the output type and press ENTER.

  Then, click on the Start Menu, click computer, left click Local disk C once to highlight, right-click Local disk C and select Properties.  Click the Tools tab and then click on the button "check the drive for errors.  In the next window make sure that both boxes are checked, then click Start.  Right plan the audit on the next reboot of the system, and then restart the laptop - this process can take a few hours to finish before loading in Windows.

• My mother G56 laptop is not booting - HELP - get a cursor blinking in the top middle of the screen!

  Laptop of my mother with all his important files on it is not start.  As soon as it turns on, it basically goes to a black screen with a cursor flashing at the top.  I tried the instructions here to use the windows recovery image to join the reactive BACK and run the commands provided in fixboot back... but they do not work.  The computer is a laptop Nr G56-125 only about a year, the operating system is Windows 7 Premium 64-bit.  I tried also to restore system but get the same when put on

  You tried to access the recovery from the repair CD image you did and it did not work?

  If you can not get anything to work, then I of workaround that you can use to get W7 back there.

  If you let just install without delete and format the drive when Windows installs, it will create a windows.old folder and you can get the files from your mother from the windows.old folder.  Also in the windows.old folder, there should be a SWSetup folder. That the folder contains the major part of the program and the installation files of the driver that came with the PC.  Copy this folder off the coast for more security and use it to reinstall all the programs supplied with the PC that you want to get back out there.

  Here is the workaround...

  If you can read the Microsoft windows 7 25-character product key, you can download simple Windows 7 ISO files to burn on a DVD for the version of windows that is installed on your PC, and which is listed on the Microsoft COA sticker on your PC case.

  Burn the ISO with the option to burn the ISO on your DVD burning program and burn it at the slowest possible speed that will allow your program. This will create a bootable DVD.

  Use 25 characters on the PC product key to activate the installation.

  The key will activate a 32 or 64 bit installation.

  Then go to the support of the PC and driver page to install the drivers you need.

• Director of HP G56 laptop problem

  Hi, I have a laptop HP G56 that my father-in-law told me because he found that he was not keen on computers after all.

  I changed its name to mine user account and did my administrator account.

  However, I am trying to download a trial version of Adobe Illustrator CS6 from Adobe and I am forced to use the Adobe Download Manager.

  It will not install as it keeps giving me the error message that administrator privileges are required. I don't understand how this happens as my user account is permanently set as an administrator.

  Any ideas please? I really need this trial version to get up to speed on the software I'm starting a new job using a little more than a week. I had it installed on my Dell laptop, but the hard drive dead ideally lose my downloadable test after a day.

  Try to save on your desktop.

  Then right-click on the program and run it as admin.

  Try typing away at f10 as soon as you press the power button.  Alternatively, you can try also type away at the ESC key as soon as you start Notepad to open the Start Menu, then choose f10 to open the Menu of the Bios.

• hard drive does not? Help!

  Hi all

  I was using my laptop (HP G56 Notebook pc). I turned it off for about 10 minutes came back to him and he walks and it came with "Boot Device not found" at the top and the title it says "Please install an operating system on your hard dive.

  I went to F2 (System Diagnostics). I tried "Start test" 'Run test' and even 'test drive' and it still comes up with all the same things. I tried to use linux to see if I can get some of my files, but I can't find the hard drive in my computer can someone please tell me what is wrong, and if it is repairable of I need a new hard drive band? ↑ happens also with "hard drive - (3f0) and also befor this happened I was rattling noise random hearing from my drive hard I don't really think anything to be honest."

  All the symptoms indicate a dead hard drive. Randomly clicking on leading to it was a warning. Since you're under warranty, HP should just send you a new hard drive >Contact HP

• laptop connected hp g56 to toshiba regza tv but no sound... Help, please! : )

  Hi, I am looking to connect my laptop g56 to my tosiba tv regza.

  I managed to get the fine photo using a vga cable but with no sound. After a bit of research and asking questions, I was told to do a plug to rca (red and white) cable, connect the plug to my laptop headphone plug and the rca to the corresponding ports of the TV. Done that and there is still no sound coming out of the tv!

  What I need to download a special driver or something to make the sound go out the TV or is it better to go buy a hdmi cable?

  Any advice would be really appreciated!

  A VGA output is only able to carry a video signal - I strongly suggest that you forget about yourself and get an HDMI cable to connect to your TV.  There is no need to buy a high-end cable, just a stanadard HDMI cable is very well - I never found no difference in the quality of output.

  The hard drive on my G56 died. "No HDD found", said currently, a 500 GB Sata 2. Can I put a 1 disc? There are a lot online that claim to work with this laptop. They are not formatted, and I know I have to buy windows again, but will I need to install the HP software also? In the affirmative. where can I find it?

  You can put in a 1 TB drive. I recommend a model at 7200 RPM, something like this:

  Actually, you do not need to buy Windows again. Your laptop has an OEM license. Can you still read the key Code label inside the battery bay or at the bottom of the laptop?

  HP system software or drivers and utilities can be downloaded from this page. You may have the original recovery disks that the laptop has asked you to do when you first pulled it upward? If this is not the case, these discs can be ordered from HP, for much less than new windows.

  Please respond so we can provide additional assistance. Do you need directions or a video to replace the hard drive?

  It's your decision, to the good old days, I paid a $240 for only 32 MB (Yes MB) for my little Toshiba Libretto (around the year 2000). The two slot RAM may not be the same, please check this:
