  Now try control-alt-shift key (Ctrl-alt-shift on Windows) and start Photoshop. An option button will open and opt for delete the settings file - see if that helps any.

  I followed his advice and it solved my problem.

  Here's what I did:

  1. Use the adobe flash uninstall tool
  2. completely remove the '\flash' directory and its contents in "c:\windows\system32\macromed\".
  3. Reinstall flash player
  4. return to the "c:\windows\system32\macromed\flash" directory and change the permissions of the file FlashInstall.log to the full control/read/write/edit/run.
  5. Reinstall shockwave
  6. Restart the computer

  After that, everything works fine.
