• How to stop firefox launches a second browser while moving between tabs.

  I almost always have several tabs open in firefox and intermittently when I return to a window with tabs rather than open this window in my browser current firefox will launch a new (second) browser and open my old tab here - closing the tab in the first browser.
  I move between the tabs by clicking the tab and most of the time it will open the tab, but exactly the same thing intermittently will launch this second browser.

• Exporer Windows will launch the web browser to search for

  IM using windows 7 32 bit with all updates. If I type a name of file/folder that does not exist in the address bar of windows explore my default browser is automatically open and try to open a web site. I understand kind of this behavior if I typed http:// but not everytime I type something wrong. also another really annoying is lets say I right click on "Program Files" and select "Copy as path" Explorer copy "C:\Program Files" with quotes. now I paste "C:\Program Files" him explore exactly the template and launch my web browser. really from microsoft? Why you cannot use double quotes for files/folders in Explorer, is beyond me.

  If I type 'c' in the address bar windows changes it too "http://c/" and attempts to open the web site in my browser. If I type in "\c" I get the msgbox "Windows cannot find '\c'. If for some strange reason you don't want this option, you can click on the small option 'Search' in the menu dropdown. Ive tried penetrating every sentence that I can think of, but I can't find any info on how to disable this option and I can not even find someone else complaining about this. I can't be the only person that it annoys.

I don't understand how microsoft can screw something towards the top so bad especially when it worked fine under xp. If I wanted to get a browser open web site id myself. It is such an inconvenience.

  Click Start and select default programs.
  Click set program Associations.
  Scroll down to Windows Search.
  Here, you can set the default program you want to open Windows Search.
  By default, it must be set to Windows Explorer.

  I have setup a Flash viewer in a HTML DIV tag In Flash I put a button that, when clicked, launches with another site that I made to appear in a new browser window.

  When I test cela Flash its working fine and launches the new window as it should.

  But when I go into Dreamweaver where I placed the. Swf in the container Div, I test it locally in a window of the Firefox browser. The visualizer appears and it works correctly, but when I click on the button to launch the new browser window it just opens a window with an error msg "unable to connect, etc.

  No idea why it does not work? Is it because they have to be direct (online)?

• Pavilion dv6-6c14nr: launch of the browser and redirecting on several occasions

  For the last two days, I had a problem frustrating with my browser/computer - the browser will be repeated launch or redirect to the home page.  To be more precise, if the focus is on an active browser window (in other words, if this is the app that I use or this is the last application, I clicked on), the browser will redirect to the home screen.  If, however, the emphasis is on another application, a new browser window will be launched.  This problem occurs regardless of the browser that I use (and when a new browser window opens, it is my default browser, Chrome, and it opens to my home page, a new empty tab).  When I was working in Visual Studio, it opens the browser which belongs to VS, then repeatedly redirected to the home page by default for this browser. The frequency with which this happens varies, once every few minutes, at most of the time (more than once per second) - I got 40 + windows browser in less than a few minutes. I removed all of the Add-Ins and Extensions, under the assumption that one of them could be the cause of the problem - no luck.

  I read similar messages on the HP Board by people who appear to have been able to solve this problem, despite the attempt of everything, including the relocation of the browsers and even reformat the hard disk!  Someone suggested that fixing file hosts worked for her, but I checked my and it seems to be as it should.

  In fact, I wonder if this could be a hardware problem any. Seems not intuitive for me, of course, but here's the thing... a few days previously, when booting, I saw some kind of error about my fan works not properly.  I installed Speccy (by Piriform) to monitor the conditions of my system and noticed that my computer has been running hot from time to time. So, I know this sounds nuts, but I put an ice pack under my laptop (well, two trays full of ice in an oversized Ziplock bag) and the problem seems to have slowed down a bit.  Also, I noticed that this problem seems quite widespread on HP Pavilion machines.

  Is it possible to fix this? Or will I stuck buying a new laptop? Although laptops are really cheap now, I really can't afford it. I suspect that the replacement of the fan would cost almost as much as a new laptop. But I can't work on it like that! Any ideas or suggestions?

  Hello and thanks for your advice and comments.  After reviewing the comments posted to some old messages to people with similar problems, I think I understand the problem, but also a solution in the short term...

  Apparently a fan problem is originally the computer overheats a little, and the heat is initially somehow the computer thinks that the shortcut for 'WWW-Home' is pressed several times (not sure of the mechanics behind this, but the shortcut implies the F5 key, which is located in one of the hottest areas of the computer).  The warmer the computer becomes, is more frequently as she considers the shortcut key display press and more frequently a new browser is launched.  So, a quick solution to the problem - disable the shortcut key (by editing the registry or by using a software like KeyTweak - the code for the key is 144, btw). Of course, I'll replace my fan in the next few days (I have a bag of ice below pending), but it's nice to have the use of my computer until there!

  Based on the other posts, I've read, this problem seems quite common for my laptop model - a HP Pavilion dv6 - 6 c 14nr.  Most of the messages I read involved HP pavilions, and many of them were a HP Pavilion dv6 or similar.  Others with the same problem seem to have experienced worsening much more that what I have - many of them actually reformat the hard drive when nothing else worked - and if this still does not solve the problem for them, they got rid of their HP laptop. Perhaps HP can save this information as a 'known problem' and view the Guide somewhere for support staff and users to easily find?

  If you have several boot disks, installed on a blank disc and no additional software installed, and they all exhibit the same behavior, I guess you have a hardware problem.

• How can I prevent third parties not authorized to launch from my browser?

  With all the concern for safety, I can't understand why a third-party program can just open my browser without permission or warning and load any page please. I install a new program or update an old and it opens a thank you page or the implementation. I uninstall a program and it opens an investigation into the reasons for leave. I click on a button in a memory intensive game and Firefox to suck the rest of my RAM and cause a malfunction.
  At least with the combination of Mozilla and my anti-virus protections I worry too much taken to a malicious site or other evil applications of this vulnerability, but it's annoying. The decision to open Firefox (or any program) should not be mine alone?

  If your firewall or other security software has this feature, you can configure the rules to deal with that. For example, by default, you can prevent external applications to launch web browsers. You could then define rules for specific applications to allow them to launch web browsers. This way you can always click on links in an email client and open them in a browser, for example.

  As far as I know, no navigation software only allows you to ignore links launched by external applications. You can request this feature by submitting a bug enhacement, so relevant report does not already exist.

  You could break the association for HTTP and HTTPS protocols in the registry, but I do not recommend.

  Try using Firefox/File > Exit to see if that helps.

  Make sure that you do not use "Clear recent history" to clear the 'browsing history' when Firefox is closed because who wins and prevent Firefox tabs from the previous session.

  It is also possible to use the "Show my windows and tabs from last time" parameter, which is generally a more reliable way to restore the session data.

  In addition to the response of Varun, you can also try uninstalling and reinstalling Adobe Flash Player if installed and then check the issue.

  You can also check the status by using a different user account.

  The best way to have a program automatically start when you connect, is to put it in your startup folder in your Start menu.

  This problem is resolved in 21.0.0.216 for Chrome was released today.  If Chrome did not updated the version of Flash Player again:

  -launch Chrome and go to chrome://components

  -Find the pepper_flash entry, and then click on check for update

  -Chrome download the latest version.

  You will need to use cookies if you want to remember things to control a swf from revisiting a page.  To create Flash cookies, you need to look at using the shared object class.

  You might be able to use the regular cookies, but this would require the implementation of FlashVars by having something to read the cookie and write dynamically embedding code for the swf file.
