  Is it possible to keep my Layer palette settings to my liking? Each new document that I create me begins with tiny icons and each object has its own Sub-layer.

  I love 64 pixel icons, only of the upper layers. (Upper layers don't make it easier to work with After Effects)

  Attributes of layers are part of documents attributes. The great thing about this is that it is actually very easy to ensure that any new document you open has the attributes you want. There are two ways to achieve this. By modifying or profiles start, create a new document or by creating custom template and opening these new documents files. I recommend to go the route of the template files, because they are more flexible, that you can save them where you want. Here is an article with more info on their use:

• Layer Palette list jumping around on DSP with multiple work plans

  Just upgraded to Photoshop CC2015, and I'm doing a work of mobile design - work plans are perfect for this kind of work, so I decided to take advantage of the new functionality of the artboard. Now, a lot of actions that update of content in the palette layers (duplicate elements, for example), force the selected item to be concentrated in the top of the layers palette. This means that my layers are constantly scrolling themselves around and making it physically exhausting to use Photoshop. I'm on a retina screen 27 "(5K iMac)." Not only did I get distracted by the pallet to move, I have to also remember where I was still in the palette (layers are named, but I have 26 work plans, so it's a lot.), then scroll around to get there.

  Also, when I delete the layer, the palette groups of select and focus parent of the deleted group at the top of the list. In this case, let's say I duplicated only accidentally an item (and then removed), then I have to realize I've been teleported elsewhere and find my way back.

  I know the new behavior of items being placed in groups now sitting at the top instead of the bottom of the group - is not that, but maybe a bug related to this new behavior?

  This issue does not appear to occur in PSD who did no work plans.

  Hi Zack,

  There is bug here that is being developed at the present time in development.

  When you choose the command duplicate the layer (or group of two copies) and the layer is a work plan, it is moved to the top of the layer stack and then re-nested in the above work plan that can hold the layer. When nested in a work plan, the layer is placed on top of the stack in the artboard. Most of the time, it seems just the layer gets duplicated upward from the current artboard, but in some cases, as you have discovered, it can actually go to another plan of work.

  Of course, this is problematic.

  The workaround for now is option and drag the layers in the layers palette to explicitly in the order of desired layer stack.

  In addition, there are a number of other behaviors that you describe in this thread that I think can also be problematic, but he'll have to look more carefully. Thanks for the information and please let us know if you see anything that affects your workflow with work plans.

• Question of Layer palette. I choose a layer and when I use move the tool on that layer PSCC jumps to another layer

  I use Photoshop CC 14.2.1x32. When I select a layer in the layers palette, then use the move tool to reposition an item on this layer PS force one jump to another layer. The only way I can put it back is by using free transform on the layer, I want to work. What happens with PS CC? Help, please. About to dump CC and return to the CS 6

  Uncheck the automatic selection in the move tool Options bar. That should do it.

• SC6 Layer palette displays only a brush, can't tell what is what?

  I was working in Photoshop CS6 and I must of accidently clicked on something. My palette of layers swent to show me a picture of what was in each layer to show only a brush in each layer. Now, I don't see what is what. I tried Googling a fix, but I can't find anything. Was hoping that someone here could help me. Here's what it looks like. I want each layer to show me what is really on this layer.

  

  In the layers panel at the top right, click the arrow to the bottom.  Click Options in the Panel.  Under thumbnail size, choose a format.  The problem is that no option is chosen.

• New Layer palette setting in CS5 does not

  I open a photo, the I'm going to the range of settings on the right, click the Photo icon say filter to open a new layer. Inside, only the icon will then appear but no layer to work. See my photo 1.

  In order to get a new layer, I must now go to layer > layer mask and click on all the Reveall.

  Then only the new layer appears at the bottom right. See my photos 2 and 3

  Somewhere, there must be a setting problem?

  I believe that what is causing your problem. In the settings menu, make sure add default mask is checked. If this option is not checked, no mask is created - I was able to reproduce your problem by disabling this option, as shown below.

  Two things I do very often in the Panel layer is one of the two layers add to a group and duplicate a layer.
  I have not found all the shortcuts of teas using the keys.

  Record the corresponding commands in the menu of the layers (duplicate and accumulate in the new layer) palette.

• Type on a single layer is blocked

  I created a document with three layers. On a single layer, it became apparent that no matter what type, I put on this layer would be caressed, but there was no line not indicated. I don't see that the layer has something unusual about this. But if I put the guy on another layer it seems normal.

  You can have a glance to the aspect with the sick selected layer palette. Maybe there's an added, edge effect applied to the layer.

  She changed the Layer palette settings to not automatically create a mask with layers of filling.

  Is not an adjustment layer, so the adjustment layer setting does not apply (and two parameters should really be in the layers palette in order to reduce the confusion).

• Copy layer contained more docs open - crash inDesign

  As part of my workflow, I wrote a script which meant to copy the contents of a particular layer (in this case "the palette") of any document that you currently have active during any open document that start with the same name (IE. "order 2341 - big" would copy and replace the contents of the Layer palette in "order 2341 - small, but the script ignores all documents that do not begin with 'order 2341')."

  The problem is that the pasteInPlace(); component of my script crashes inDesign (I'm under CS 5.5). Curiously, if I stop the script before this point and paste the content manually it works fine, so it seems that it is only the script component that has the problem. Anyone would be able to take a look and see if there is something I am doing wrong, or if it's just a strange bug IDS?

  I suggest using the method duplicate() instead of the user interface select - copy - paste

• Beginner with the pen tool problem: not obvious on any shape layer

  I'm learning the pen tool. I made a line with the pen tool, but now I can't find out what layer it is on, and I can't caress as I wanted. All my layers are turned off and the form appears. However the research through the layers there is no vector layer that contains my line. In addition, I can't touch the line as the line options and filling are greyed out on my table of paths. I have attached a copy of Θcran to explain if all goes well I mean. I use CS2 on Windows 7.

  

  Your Layer palette capture you have no visible layer and targeted in order to trace the path would not be available and gray by Photoshop.  Target a layer visible and you should be able to stroke the path on this layer. Also, you should be able to add a shape layer by using this path of pen.

• Rename a layer without touching the mouse?

  When you export files from Illustrator, I receive a ton of layers named < path > and < group >. I want to quickly rename these layers in Photoshop.

  I'm using Alt-[&] - to move up and down my Layer palette, but I did not understand how to change a layer name other than a double click on the name (which takes a hand on the keyboard). Is it possible to rename a layer using the keyboard only?

  If you use CS6 things are a little easier.

  Double click on the layer name to retype. Then press tab (or shift tab for the other direction), and the name of the layer is highlighted and ready to re-enter. Continue to do the same for the remaining layer names.
