  • Left mouse click selects the button but does not execute the action of the button (for example close)

HI - this seems to be a problem with Windows rather than the mouse, so any help would be greatly appreciated!

First of all - I have a trackball M570. Works fine connected to another Windows 7 machine.

But on a single machine including windows 7... I can use the left click for most, but in some applications, when I click a button it not actually click the button. Yes, he selects the button but it does not perform the button action. I also see the issue in the boxes, I can't put a tick in the boxes. Or at least I just figured someway by combining fast random space bar presses and presses mouse, but it is obviously not right. Couldn't find anything useful in google, so I thought I would try here in hope!

Thank you for the pointers !

    Cheers, Jim.

    HI - Finally - I found a solution.

First of all - the following solution worked for me, but there are possible solutions mentioned on the thread I linked in my previous email.

The mouse is a Logitech wireless, with the SetPoint software installed. I also had a Microsoft wired keyboard and just in case that was the problem, I replaced it and - YES! All good new - in fact explains some other issues, I was less concerned. The problem with the keyboard was somehow screwing of the mouse.

Since then I have been reduced to a media volume on the keyboard button, no idea how to solve this problem, and the replacement keyboard was free, so just get rid of the old. Note: I could use the old keyboard when I downloaded the Microsoft Mouse and keyboard Center, installed and disabled the offending button.

Thank you, maybe my solution might help some people out there.

    Jim.

    http://support.Mozilla.com/en-us/kb/mouse%20shortcuts?s=open+in+background+tab & As = s
is shown that command + left mouse click on opens in a new tab in the background.
In Firefox 4 it does not work. Do you have any idea how to make it work?

    Thank you.

    Have you checked your extensions?

I saw some extensions (New Home tab, if I remember correctly) reported causing this problem.

  • When I press any key on my keyboard, my mouse click but the pointer move.

My computer is a Gateway NV53 with Windows 7.  My mouse pad is a Synaptics TouchPad V7.2.  Whenever I press any of the buttons on my keyboard, if I play a game or not, it "replaces" the ability to move the pointer.  I find nothing in any of the menus "Control Panel > mouse properties > device settings > settings...". ' who have yet set.  That maybe somebody has some ideas about how to "disable" the "substitution"?

Found this on techsupportforum.com and this worked for me...

    Great success!

One of my friends understood the problem.
Go to control panel and the properties of the mouse, click on the device settings tab and select "Synaptics TouchPad". Click settings, and it should bring up another window.

In the list select Pointing > sensitivity > PalmCheck and by default, the bar is more to the right, between Minimum and Maximum, slide the bar completely to a Minimum and the problem should be solved! You can now move the pointer when you type. : D »

The problem is sometimes caused by a third-party extension. ShellExView can be useful to see what shell extensions have been introduced in the Explorer. • key Ctrl, alt and right click on the keyboard won't respond or work

I work on Window Vista Ultimate (HP Pavilion tx2500 Notebook PC) and my ctrl, unresponsive keys alt and right click. So I can't use ctrl + c ctrl + v (or others) on any of my programs (such as Word or Firefox). I can either use ctr + alt + delete. And right-click on the keyboard button (which is the same as the right click on the mouse button) is not responding or the other.

I have already tried various things such as:

    1. pressing the combination alt + ctrl + fn
    2. "unplugging" the usb adapter (and even that I am not too sure of doing things)
    3. uninstall the keyboard driver and reboot
    4. restore the computer to factory settings

    Help, please?

Have you tried a new keyboard?  Connect an external keyboard if it works that indicate your laptop keyboard is broken and requires replacement.  Also just FYI - this is a support forum for Windows 7; not that it is important in this case, but if you have a question related to Windows, find and use the correct forum might be essential to get the advice you need for your operating system.

  • Right mouse click when the file name of MS Explorer results saying that he has encountered a problem and will stop, and it stops quickly.

Right mouse click when the file name of MS Explorer results saying that he has encountered a problem and will stop, and it stops quickly.

Right click issues are usually caused by a third-party software that put an entry in the context menu. You can solve this with the free ShellExView.

  • Why the right mouse clicking on the icons and thumbnails cause error message and the screen resets?

When I returned from vacation, my PC worked as usual, but later in the day that it would be not laod, it gets to a certain point and then a blue screen and try a reboot. Managed to use the 'safe mode' and finally 'System restore', but it kept crashing until I went back as it would go, i.e. end of /April. Been authorized since except this error right click of the mouse.

Looks like you may have a bad Windows Explorer (not Internet Explorer) add on.

What is your version of XP and the Service Pack?

Describe your current antivirus and software anti malware situation: McAfee, Symantec, Norton, Spybot, AVG, Avira!, MSE, Panda, Trend Micro, CA, Defender, ZoneAlarm, PC Tools, Comodo, etc..

    Here are a few thoughts:

When the Windows Explorer (not Internet Explorer) is wrong to behave on a right click, begins to suspect third-party add-ons explore extension.

Those who would be the Explorer extensions that do not belong to Microsoft.  This means that extensions that you have added.  Solution Explorer extensions are generally well and installation of certain applications will install extensions from Explorer solutions for you, give you a choice and sometimes they can be added sometimes without your knowledge or consent when you install some software.

Have you installed new software because the system finally worked correctly and if so, what?

Solution Explorer extensions are sometimes added as a new right-click option, you see on folders and files (like the scan of this file, open that file, play this song).  When you right click on something, the Explorer wants to display a menu of choices.  If there is a bad or outdated extension, Explorer may crash.

If there is something in particular that you do during exploration that you know will be the cause of the problem, which will help focus on the problem and the help that you suddenly know, when you have found and corrected.  If you can get there when you want it, make an adjustment, then there is no message the next time you do whatever it is you're doing, you've found and fixed (or perhaps you can fix).

First of all you need a way to see what modules explore you have installed now and a way to turn them off (not uninstall them) so you can understand that we are at the origin of the problem.  You can have a lot of extensions not installed Microsoft don't even know you about.

Download ShellExView here to see what Explorer extensions you have loaded:

    http://www.NirSoft.NET/utils/shexview.html

ShellExView does not install anything on your computer, simply of runs and displays.

After launching ShellExView, under Options, choose "Mark non-Microsoft Extensions" and extensions not Microsoft will be pink, clear, but on some systems which is a difficult color to see, so click on display, choose the columns and move the column Microsoft closer to the top, so you can see on your screen without having to scroll left and right.

Click on the column header for Microsoft not to sort the display (by clicking on the column of Microsoft) if all the "" s are on top and easy to see.

The s in 'No' would be things you have added (non-Microsoft) and are what you should be suspect.

You can also Google the name of a suspect add-on and see if there are visits, on Explorer crashing and what other people have done about it.

    You can Google something like:

    Explorer XP crashing

(you must fill in the name of adds your suspect on).

See what kind of search results hits you get and are looking for solutions or situations that sound like yours.

I'm not a defender of trial and error, but I can't think of another way to do...

Right click and disable the extensions one at a time non-Microsoft keep a list so you can enable them again later if you wish. The result of the change is immediate and no reboot is necessary.  Test your failure condition.

If you recognize all the extensions that have been added or recently downloaded, start with these first.

Disabling the extension does not uninstall the extension - it is just disabled.

Disable them one at a time until your right click on do not generate an error, then restart and test again.  Last extension you have turned off the
    a suspect.

You can also just disable all non-Microsoft extensions, restart and allow them one at a time until you find the one that generates the condition.

The hope is that you will find an extension that caused the error, and then you can figure out what on this subject - either uninstall it or see if you can get an update of the author of the extension of their web page.

I have not your problem, but when you turn off/turn on extensions, the extension is immediately disabled, so disable an extension does not seem to require a restart, but if you find the problem, I reboot and retest anyway to really be sure that the problem has disappeared.

If you post your non-Microsoft extensions list, maybe someone will recognize it as a potential problem.

If you find the offending extension that's the problem, please let us know what it is that I can add to my list.

If you get a blue screen of death (BSOD), you must do this:

The next time your system crashes, provide more information on what you see.
Here's a BSOD example showing information you provide:
Send for the nose and the Red arrows (3 to 4 lines total).
Send all * line STOP message since there are clues in the 4 parameters.
If there is a name of the file listed in the STOP message, don't forget to include this information too.
Ignore the boring text unless it seems important to you.  We know what a BSOD looks like, we need to know what your BSOD looks like.

Finally, I'd be curious to know why you say you get an error message and tell us what the error message said.

  • left mouse click has stopped working.

left double click on my mouse does not open my programs allowing more but not, now I have to right click and open, can someone please help. Thank you

    Hello

Control Panel - mouse - change at LEFT back and see if the same problem switches sides.
If not, the mouse has a hardware problem. If the opposite problem on the other side then
    try these.

If a mouse (or if you use a touch screen and a mouse)

Start - computer, or Windows Explorer - Tools - Folder Options - general tab - check the
Double-click to open an item - APPLY / OK (so well then set change as if you planned
to leave it like that and then go back and change it back
    ).

Control Panel - mouse - look for the settings for hover or click Automatic or similar depending on your mouse.

    When a TouchPad

Look in the Notification area next to the clock for all TouchPad control program.

Control Panel - mouse - also look for it TouchPad (mine is on the device however settings tab
other brands and maybe on the other tabs and more than one). There are usually the parameters that
can determine if a click, double click, hover or can open or close a program.

Start - computer, or Windows Explorer - Tools - Folder Options - general tab - check the
Double-click to open an item - APPLY / OK

If some people are well positioned can change to some other setting if you plan to leave
them that way and then change again.

    Hope this helps

  • Even single left mouse clicks so double clicking results on – how to stop this fake effect?

When I click on anything in Firefox, so tabs, menu items or web content on a page, my unique care left click on are interprted by Firefox like all double clicks, that has chaotic results. How can I stop this? The problem started there, having never had the problem since many years of using Firefox about 4 to 6 weeks.

This problem occurs outside of Firefox?

Try Firefox Safe mode to see if the problem goes away. Safe mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most of the modules.

(If you use it, switch to the default theme).

    • Under Windows, you can open Firefox 4.0 + in Safe Mode holding the key SHIFT key when you open the desktop Firefox or shortcut in the start menu.
    • On Mac, you can open Firefox 4.0 + in Safe Mode holding the key option key when starting Firefox.
    • Under Linux, you can open Firefox 4.0 + with leaving Firefox then go to your Terminal and running Safe Mode: firefox-safe-mode (you may need to specify the installation path of Firefox for example/usr/lib/firefox)
    • Or open the Help menu and click on the restart with the disabled... modules menu item while Firefox is running.

Once you get the pop-up, simply select "" boot mode safe. "

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to understand that one. To do this, please follow article Troubleshooting extensions, themes and problems of hardware acceleration to resolve common Firefox problems .

To exit safe mode of Firefox, simply close Firefox and wait a few seconds before you open Firefox for normal use again.
