Legitimate question of phishing, clicked on a link in an unknown e-mail that led me to the site.

OT: Question of Phishing.

So I see messages similar to this, but they are all a little different from mine. I received this email from the team Microsoft account saying there was a possible security problem and I had to change my password. I clicked on the link, because it's been a long week and I'm a fool. I realized immediately after it WAS weird and he looked up and found stories about the phishing scam.

But the thing is the link took me to the microsoft Web site. I changed my password. They send me a verification code. I went back on the Google site and it looked exactly the same. I logged in using the new password and it worked.

I was at least smart enough to use a password that I don't use for anything else. But I panicked a bit because I clicked on a link in a bizarre e-mail that led me to the legitimate site. Any suggestions on what I should do?

Hello and welcome!

Make sure that your antivirus didn't pick up any new virus or malware on your system. The system may have brought you to a Microsoft Web site, but installed a keylogger.

Using a PC clean and safe, change your password of Microsoft to stay safe. Use a program like Windows Security Essentials and Malwarebytes to scan your PC.

The other day, I noticed that my search box stop working. Even when I go to options and click on search, it will not be open to the top of the tab to the search options. Today, I noticed that when I right click on a link, it brings up a long list of options, but the only one I want to work is the "Open link in a new tab." Unfortunately, it does not work. I ran Spybot, Malwarebytes and Microsoft Defender and what malware, they found, it does not solve the problem. I even tried Firefox in Safe Mode and updated, but still questions. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi, this is probably because something on your system has crushed all providers default search in firefox. to recover it please download and reinstall firefox to https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/ on top of your existing version.

Since it is a behavior often caused by adware on a system, please also run a scan complete of your different system with security tools like the free version of malwarebytes and adwcleaner.

  • Clicked on a link OkeyShare

I have a Mac laptop computer: my computer has Sophos Anti-virus (9.4.0) and Safari is my internet browser (6.1.6). I think I use OS X Mountain Lion; I may have improved at El Capitan and forgotten.

About a week ago while watching images of DeviantART on Google, I noticed links to a Web site called OkeyShare. It is a fake website claiming to have work and artists from DeviantART and redirects elsewhere so clicked on user. I did a little research and found that it caused some confusion among users of DeviantART. It is one of the journals a user has posted the question: http://theinfiniteglow.deviantart.com/journal/OkeyShare-What-the-crap-is-this-th ing-562902521. Users are naturally questioned that their job done apparently to an unknown site; Some have had experiences by clicking on a link OkeyShare that claims to have their work on it and redirected to places like hidereferrer.net, imageol, an announcement of coupons jcpenny or site and even some sites of po'rn. Some speculate that it is a "click-bait' scam and hope only these sites don't transmit malicious programs. Needless to say that I have set out to avoid OkeyShare.

However, this morning I googled the title of an image specific to DeviantART and accidentally clicked on a link to OkeyShare. I think that I managed to click the previous page before he completely redirected me to wherever he went and deleted from my history of Safari. However, in Safari preferences I found OkeyShare and hidereferrer.net cookies so I removed the. I scanned my Mac with Sophos Anti-virus and it came back with "no threat found".

What I want to ask is if anyone on this community has heard of OkeyShare, hidereferrer.net or imageol, and they know the potential dangers. Is someone can also tell me what is "click-bait?

    Much appreciated,

If you are worried that your have been infected with malicious software simply by visiting a Web site, you don't need to be. This does not happen. You must get rid of "Sophos," which is worse than useless.

  • Firefox does not have a Web site when I click on a link.

When I click on certain links firefox opens a new tab, but does not launch the web page. The tab says (GIF, 1 x 1 pixel Image), but the screen is blank. I can get to sites on firefox to my wife, but not on mine or chrome on my computer.

Some firewalls like Kaspersky can block content and send a GIF 1 x 1 instead.

Kaspersky: Protection > firewall > Filtration System: disable the banner "Ad Blocker".

  • When I long press on a link, in addition to opening a box of context, it also opens the link in this window. How can I get JUST the context window appears?

I'm an avid user of pocket and I like to scroll through the different blog sites and save articles to read later. In general, I have been using Google Chrome browser that forces me to open each section in a different tab and then share this article to the Pocket to save him. I was delighted when I found the firefox browser has worked very well and even supported Add ons. I decided to try it, but have encountered a major problem. When I press a link to share, instead of a context window appear and the site remains the same, a context window opens while the site loads the link. When I right click on a link in my browser, it does not mean I want to go to this link, so I do not know why the same procedure would cause the mobile browser to do so. Is there a way I can press a link without having to open the link in this tab?

Well, it's silly, but it's the best I could come up with:

I tested this on Gizmodo: when the menu press and hold appears, instead of lifting the finger pointing upwards, slide it downwards a little, right next to the link, before you lift your finger on the glass. Then the script on the page detects a "mouse up" (or equivalent event) on the link. It works for you?

I know that you cannot see the link in the menu, but one or two lines of text height will usually do.

Would probably be wise for Firefox cancel all events associated with touching the link once the menu is displayed. Or to make sure that the site includes as a right-click (that seems more difficult). I have not checked to see if ideas along these lines have been filed in the bug tracking system.

Edit: Tested on a Nexus 5 (LG).

  • I clicked on a link on my computer.

I clicked on a link on my computer. I've got Yosemite 10.10.5. I now get location of verification questions to an address that according to me is the one I opened upwards. Does that mean I have a virus and what should I do?

It is probably just to ask your location and is not a virus. Try going to System Preferences/security & privacy / confidentiality, unlock the lock and see if there is a box you can uncheck which stops applications. Safari is probably the logical choice.

  • Disable the feature of switching to tab, when you click on a link

When I click on certain links particularly in gmail, for example, if I get an email from youtube of a video being downloaded and I click on the video says, firefox opens this link in a new tab, but the problem is that it will automatically switch to this tab that I hate. This happens with the other links that want to open in a new tab for.

Switch to tab not more or go to the black list of the tab doesn't work. I got a fix for it in the comments: config page, but I've recently refreshed firefox and it removed the feature. preference, I don't want to use a plugin to solve this problem

(edited for clarity - c title)

Sorry, I'm distracted by the title of the question.

You can check the tab bar setting in Options/Preferences > tabs.

    • [] "When I open a link in a new tab, switch to it immediately."

There are three prefs, accessible via the comments: page of config, to control the development, if you click on a link.

    • browser.tabs.loadInBackground (normal links)
    • browser.tabs.loadDivertedInBackground (javascript)
    • browser.tabs.loadBookmarksInBackground (bookmarks)
  • Firefox says click here to update to Shockwave, but who says that Shockwave is disabled if you are unable to click on this link. Please provide a fix.

In Manager of modules entry page/Plugins for Shockwave Flash appears the line "Shockwave Flash is known to be vulnerable and need to be updated." It is followed by a link reading "Update Now". When I click on this link, Firefox thinks for a while and then displays a page that says (it is long enough, so it is a summary) versions of Shockwave Flash is disabled, then this page is displayed when you click on one of the links.

Given that 'Update Now' does not work, please send me an executable file that will solve this problem. Firefox says it's version 30.0.

    Hi SF11blocked,
I understand that you have tried to add Shockwave Flash for Firefox and are prompted to update, but when you're from the support site and submitted your question came a lot of text boxes and many were submitted. I also understand when you logged on to the Site from Adobe there are two problems:

The first problem was that he had never had an activation in the drop-down list for this entry. (Perhaps it had been removed that plugin has been disabled?)
The second problem was that I had deleted the entry Shockwave.

If you have deleted the entry of: [subject: addons] http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/k.../enabling-flash-player-firefox.html then you uninstalled.
Is it deleted when it has been disabled? He should not have been.

I recommend to download and install it once again from the original download in your download folder. If she's gone, I would recommend starting over.

Please post back with your results.

  • Firefox can be configured to open the Firefox more recently-active window when you click on a link in another application? Using multiple profiles.

I think it's really a feature request, but I don't see a forum for this. I used to use firefox almost exclusively, but switched to chrome when I started working freelance for a couple of different companies - the identities of chrome feature really helps me keep my sanity by having a unique identity for each company. However, a problem has recently developed with chrome which brought me back to firefox. The profile under firefox feature seems to have gotten much better since I made the first move, and I'm pretty happy with the way it works... with one exception:

With firefox, clicking on a link in another application, always opens in the default profile. With chrome, she would always open in the browser window that was most recently active. It's a very intuitive behavior, because everything I do in the other application (e.g. thunderbird, evernote, Skype) is almost always linked to whatever browser window, I had finally opened.

Any chance to do this implemented? Or maybe there is already a way to do this? I found the following related topics, but neither helped with this issue:

  • I have reset default firefox but the BBC website opens OK but will return to the display of the text when I click on a link.

(Newish laptop so I'm not really familiar with operating systems (Win 8.1 I think) and more) Initially, my BBC homepage opened OK in Firefox, but after a period, he began to view a text version. This can be temporarily cured by restoring the default Firefox (Firefox / help / troubleshooting information / restore Firefox) but as soon as I click a link on the page of the BBC, it is up to the display of the text. Is there a way I can solve this problem. Other sites seem to be working properly.

It's a problem of missing style sheet. If you have modules like Adblock Plus installed, first of all, try to start Firefox with the disabled modules and check if the problem persists.

    Otherwise,.

    1. Hold down the ALT key and press V to open the view menu. Open the submenu Style Page and make sure that "Basic Page Style" is selected.
    2. Clear the cache.
    3. Remove the cookies from the site in question.

Download, install and update as much of the following as possible until your infections are cleaned.

    1. The free versions of these scanners will detect infections and clean your system; no need to buy
    2. Scanners different malware detect some malware that other scanners do not have.
    3. If you are unable to download malicious programs,
      • change the name of the Installer before you save the download on your hard drive, and
      • Once installed, go to the installation to the program folder and change the name of the executable file of the program (i.e. for Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, change mbam.exe to xyz - mb.exe), then update the program and run the scan.
      • You may need to download on a non infected computer, change the name of the Setup program, copy setup from a CD or USB and transport to your system for installation.
    4. Some stubborn malware should be deleted in Windows Safe Mode with setting network '. Warning: download all the tools first, then disconnect your modem before entering Mode Windows safe, as your firewall and AV/AS probably does not load mode Windows safe. See:
