License of fonts

Hello

I have 2 questions:

1. If I buy the Myriad Pro police from this page: Adobe - fonts: Myriad Pro, can I use it internally in my business and also in print ads, banners, which you can see as commercial use?

2. can I also use it as web font to my company Web site? What are the differences between the purchase of license by this page and Typekit subscription model?

Thank you

Kind regards

Hello Nghia,

It's Ben of Typekit. I can answer these questions for you.

> 1. If I buy the Myriad Pro police from this page: Adobe - fonts: Myriad Pro, can I use it internally in my business and also in print ads, banners, which you can see as commercial use?

Yes, this license allows this. You can install the fonts on up to 5 computers. The license details are here: http://wwwimages.adobe.com/content/dam/Adobe/en/products/type/pdfs/eulas/eula-5seat-us-eng cais - 07.11.11.pdf

> 2. Can I also use it as web font to my company Web site? What are the differences between the purchase of license by this page and Typekit subscription model?

N ° this perpetual license covers on your computers by using the font. You need Typekit to concede this font for your company Web site. If you need the police for your Web site, you should get a Plan on Typekit portfolio: https://typekit.com/plans/ which also comes with a desktop license for: Regular, Italic, Semibold, Semibold Italic, Bold and Bold Italic. When you use Typekit, you synchronize the fonts via the application creative cloud and Typekit.com.

I hope this clears up things. Let me know if you have any other questions.

See you soon,.

  • Licenses for fonts for folios DPS App

I am trying to get my head around fonts for applications DPS licenses. During the edition folios in format PDF is not all converted images on export? I found licenses of fonts that have an application include option but say that whatever it is part of an 'image' does not require an app incorporate license but rather just the regular user. I understand that different foundries will have different licenses and agreements but an overview of the use of general policies with DPS would be much appreciated. Currently, my apps are only iOS but we can explore Android in the future.

Fonts are handled differently according to the format of the selected item:

PNG/JPEG-the police is not included in the article since we create an image of what looks like the page and using them on the device.

PDF: The police is only the characters used by the article subset and is then included in the article. To be clear, it is a subset of the police, not all embedded.

  • License of fonts of art

    Hello

Can you help me out here please?

I am starting my own company to design and sell prints of custom typography for example for the new baby / wedding memories.

I want to understand the licenses for the use of fonts, however. Each print will use several fonts - which some are delivered standard in InDesign, for example Arial, but others are the ones that I buy separately.

Can you help me clear up if I need a license for the standard fonts that came in Adobe applications, originally, please?

    Thanks in advance.

Fonts that come with Adobe products can be used for commercial purposes as long as police code itself is not distributed in a way that would allow others to use the police separately (you can publish your work, but you may not resell the police for others to use).

  • Licenses for fonts when you use a database of conversion utility server

We have a group creating brochures and logos using fonts Adobe Font Folio.

We have a system of content management with a utility that creates a rendered pdf document or when it is transferred in the system.

Are we in a license perspective because we are Font Folio of deliverance for the creators of documents and embedding fonts in PDF versions using our pdf utility, or is it something that we need licenses for the conversion utility that runs on a Linux machine within our content management system?

Adobe Font Folio license is licensed "per post" and allows you to use fonts on individual workstations.  While the license allows you to display fonts on a server for distribution within your organization, it does not cover the creation automated documents via a server.  Each of your creators of documents is welcome to create a PDF versions of their documents, but by using a conversion utility on a server is not our standard license.

Adobe may provide you with a separate license for these types of use.  If you are interested, contact me: [email protected]

  • How to install Myriad Pro fonts license

We have Windows application that convert Docx XPS file by using the word automation service. In load tests, we found that the size of the jump of size 200 KB to 3 MB Docx after conversion to XPS. During troubleshooting, we found XPS create images of letters and words in the document instead of incorporating the Myriad Pro police which increase in size of document several times. I think this is related to the licensing of fonts as XPS create images only when it is impossible to validate the license. I want to know y at - it special measures we need to follow to install fonts license?

    Nope!

Has absolutely nothing to do with the licenses to all fonts! The Myriad Pro font family enables the editable embedding, which is more than sufficient to allow embedding in XPS or PDF.

What you have stumbled upon is a known bug and the limitation in the Microsoft software that Microsoft refuses to fix. Simply, they incorporate not OpenType CFF fonts (such as those belonging to the Myriad Pro family) for XPS or for their own native to save as PDF function. (Economy-as-PDF acrobat incorporates fonts correctly!)

Call Microsoft and complain to them. I have, and they don't seem to care!

  • Fonts (if applicable) are included in Acrobat Pro XI (student license)?

It was mentioned to me that rather than purchase licenses for fonts only a few I'm interested, I should buy Acrobat Pro XI as policies may come with the package. However, nowhere I can seem to find out if all the fonts indeed come with Acrobat Pro XI. Can someone please advise? Thank you.

Acrobat is not one of the Adobe products that comes packaged with a bunch of fonts.

Buried in Acrobat resources are a bunch of fonts to use PDF support in different languages set of non-Latin characters, but these are not available for use by other programs as installed.

By the way, student and licenses for schools of Adobe products come with the same resources as for the use of full commercial license.

  • Typekit: Why are not all synchronized fonts?

What is the reason for which several fonts from font families are not synchronized? Many only normal fonts, italics, bold, and bold italic may be synchronized, but it is also lightweight, medium etc. which can not?

    Andreas

    Hi Andreas,

Thanks for your question. This is due to the licensing of fonts.  Typekit does have all the fonts in our library of fonts; they are the property of our foundry partners, who work with Typekit to make their fonts available to all our subscribers. Some foundries have chosen to offer all weights and styles of a family of synchronization, while others include a selection of styles and weight.

We keep fonts license of our foundry for synchronization partners, as we move forward. In the meantime, if you need a special weight of a font that is not available to sync, you can probably buy a license directly from the foundry.  The Foundry name is listed at the top of each page in detail on typekit.com family.

If there are particular weight or style of a family you would like to have available for synchronization, you can view this list here or send it to us at [email protected] and we'll see what we can do!

I hope this helps; Let me know if you have any other questions.  Best,

  • How can I change the text in a pdf document using an embedded font?

I'm trying to edit text in a pdf document where the text is in a (Nimbus San) embedded font, but when I try to add some text in the text box, it appears in Minion instead of the police of San Nimbus.  I don't understand why I can't change by using the embedded font.

The fonts are licensed assets subject to single use. They are not intended to share, redesigned, etc..

As part of the PDF standard that they included in a document so that the document can be considered reliably without the police be installed on the viewing station.

To change you must have fonts installed on your computer. The possibility for the second parties to use the police violate the licensing of fonts.

  • Sharing a font with a third-party designer

I work with a magazine (as an employee), and we have hired a third-party designer as an independent contractor to help with some aspects of the layout. We will give it a try for a question to see how things are going. Unfortunately, it does not have the police that we use for our titles, subtitles, etc. I wonder if there is any problem sharing my copy with him, at least for the trial period. My license agreement allows me to install the font on up to five computers, but I don't know if that would extend to an exit from the House, designer of third-party (I think that it is not). But I don't like spending $250 for all the different weights of the police if we end by not working not not with the designer in the long term.

    Any thoughts?

Well, you're right to be cautious, to the extent where most licenses, including the time Adobe, do not allow that kind of sharing. He must have its own license for fonts.

As a broad principle, it relies entirely on license specific end-user (EULA) in question, and these differ widely among foundries. But few of them allow such use without a licence separately the additional user.

  • Problem with Adobe InDesign export fonts

I use InDesign cs6 to work on the magazine

and now when I try to export the magazine in PDF [Print] I get this error

    1a.png

and when I try to export as pdf [Interactive] I get this error

    2a.png

Can someone please tell me how to avoid this error without changing the font or make it describe.

    Thank you very much

This isn't a mistake, it's a fact. There is nothing you can do with this font, unless you contact the seller and find out if they have an embeddable version.

FWIW, I would never even consider using a font without rights of incorporation and vectorised text conversion is likely to constitute a violation of the license of fonts as well.

  • Typekit and font management: still a bit confused

I'm still a bit confused as to how the new TypeKit creative cloud and how it will or will not affect our workflow.

    1. We currently use Extensis Universal Type Server (UTS). We have a member of the creative team Cloud license. TypeKit itself intervene before the fonts are loaded from UTS?
    2. If the fonts are downloaded to the TypeKit Office should I copy them on the UTS? Should my users mix and match of acquired with UTS and TypeKit fonts or maintain status with UTS? You can disable TypeKit if this is the case? How can resolve us conflicts with fonts if UTS and TypeKit run?
    3. Do we need to buy policies now that with TypeKit, the claim is that all Adobe fonts are free with membership CC? How does this interact with UTS?
    4. Adobe still sells fonts if TypeKit as part of the subscription of the CC means the complete catalogue is free?
    5. How the police license issues with TypeKit? In the past, the licensing of fonts has been a major concern in the edition and still very confused on the use and purchase.

I tried to get a good understanding of the use and rights of fonts throughout my career and with TypeKit, it puts a lot of my recent recognitions in perplexity.

Thank you for all the answers to my questions.

I received an email response from and Adobe Rep:

Let me see if I can clear things here:

    > 1. We currently use Extensis Universal Type Server (UTS). We have a member of the creative team Cloud license. TypeKit itself intervene before the fonts are loaded from UTS?

A: Unfortunately, I don't have the details here. However, Extensis has announced Typekit can work along the coast UTS: http://blog.extensis.com/font-management/universal-type-server-now-supports-use-typekit-de sktop - fonts.php

Typekit does not install the fonts in the same way that you install a perpetual license. I hope that this article helps to clarify specific issues.

    > 2. If the fonts are downloaded to the TypeKit Office should I copy them on the UTS? Should my users mix and match fonts with UTS andTypeKit or maintain status with UTS? You can disable TypeKit if this is the case? How can resolve us conflicts with fonts if UTS and TypeKit run?

A: UTS and Typekit should be able to work at the same time. However, you will not be able to add Typekit fonts to UTS. Each CC Team user to synchronize policies Typekit that they wish to use.

    > 3. Do we need to buy policies now that with TypeKit, the claim is that all Adobe fonts are free with membership CC? How does this interact with UTS?

A: If the police you need lies in Typekit and you have a portfolio (through the creative teams of cloud or other) Plan you have access to this policy. So, you can synchronize to Typekit and use it in desktop applications. If a font is not available on Typekit, you will need to purchase a perpetual license for the team and add to UTS you have with other fonts.

    > 4. Adobe still sells fonts if TypeKit as part of the subscription of the CC means the complete catalogue is free?

A: Currently, you can always buy perpetual licenses to Adobe owned fonts as well as some other fonts that they resell. However, the software Adobe fonts and many other commercial fonts are available with a subscription to Typekit. Access to Typekit isn't really free. You pay for it when you pay for creative cloud. It's just that Typekit doesn't cost you anything more because it is included.

    > 5. How the police license issues with TypeKit? In the past, the licensing of fonts has been a major concern in the edition and still very confused on the use and purchase.

A: This article is a good starting point: http://help.typekit.com/customer/portal/articles/1341590-typekit-font-licensing

If you have specific questions about licensing or use cases, feel free to ask. I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.

  • The fonts are in the "Font Folio Select" Adobe and can be incorporated into the software and applications for the distribution

    Hello

I need to select a few fonts for our customer to choose that can be legally incorporated in their software for distribution.

    After reading this article:

    http://blogs.Adobe.com/jlockman/2011/06/06/fonts-and-where-can-i-use-them/

Looks like it's a "Font Folio Select" Adobe that contains fonts that we can use, but I can't find any information on where to put their hands on it.

I spent hours hunting for fonts, we can legally use and read many licensing agreements and still have no idea what fonts are available for developers!

Any help would be greatly appreciated

    Thank you

Thank you for reaching out to Adobe Type team.

While the blog of James Lockman, you mentioned is correct that our product, select Font Folio, contains only fonts that we control and for which we can offer broader rights, he is mistaken in his description of the way in which it is offered.  Do Folio select is actually a collection of fonts that we offer for the use of the servers - for customers who need fonts for automated print services or services on the web that offer a selection of fonts.  I'm really sorry for misinformation.

Licenses for fonts for applications is something that we can provide you with a direct quote.  If you want to email me directly at the address below, I can you contact a sales associate who can help you.  In addition, if you provide me a list of fonts that you are interested in licensing, if there are fonts that are not ours, I can also provide you details Foundry so that you can go to them directly.

    Thank you

    Brian

Akzidenz Grotesk light isn't a web safe font.  And I think that's not a type of file that is recognized by your browser.

For best results, use the stack of Web safe fonts fonts families

    http://cssfontstack.com/

Alternatively, use Web fonts custom built by a network of distribution of fonts like Google Web Fonts, TypeKit Adobe or edge of Web fonts.
