Ligatures / glyphs in Fireworks

I try to use a font with ligatures (Adriane) in Fireworks CS3, but Fireworks seems to be cut off the top of the ffi ligature. It works fine in Photoshop CS3, this isn't a problem with the police. Someone else has had this problem in Fireworks and is there a solution?

If you convert the part of the text into paths (text > convert to paths) that will fix it for you. There is no other real trouble I know unfortunately.

  • Ligatures do work?

Please help a model to solve a problem with ligatures. In InDesign CS4 all letter combination as fi; FL are yellow. This means that my ligatures are disabled? Enable this option in style. ????

When you see the highlighted yellow it is to show you that the glyphs have been replaced for ligature glyphs.

"You can turn this option off the ' preferences > Composition" and clear the checkbox for "Glyphs" with the following.

All this is showing you is that it is pointing out where the ligatures are sometimes using ligatrues on the fine print especially, causing readabitly problems.

He is just pointing out the area for you, do not change anything.

You must be activated in the character Panel Ligatures or styles paragraph for ligatures to work. And not all fonts included in the games of ligature glyphs.

  • Missing words in the dictionary

The Dictionary says 'WE', but still 'first', 'soil' and 'confidential' are absent from the diccionary trying to check spelling.

Since when these words were removed from US dicctionaries?

I guess it's possible remote that you use one of these old fonts Postscript of 'expert' where the f - i ligature glyph was in a separate policy. I still see these fonts once in a while. If you use the text selection tool and try to catch just the f or just the i and cannot, then that is probably what is happening. You can also watch these words in the story editor (Ctrl + Y in Windows); that would give you the same information.

  • Is there a way to automatically disable ligatures?

    Hey all,.

Does anyone know how to automatically disable ligatures in InDesign CC?

We use IDS to work, but it's usually sell sheets and brochures, which are two documents you would rarely (if ever) want ligatures.

I know that you can turn them off at the scale of the document, but I would rather start the program with them...

You might be able to call it is lazy, but for the sake of argument I'll call her 'effective '.

    Thanks in advance!

    K

Ligatures are designed to look better that ugly glyph collisions that are common, when they are not using, so I'm curious to know why you say you wouldn't sell them leaves or prospectus.

Change the default value for new files to turn them off with no open files.

  • Broken in CS6 OpenType ligatures

I have a font OpenType of "attached". I used it for years in CS4 (InDesign and Illustrator). I just upgraded to CS6 and some ligatures do not work, i.e. upper-case initial do not connect unless the first word on a line or after a comma or a period. This worked very well in CS4 works fine in Word I checked it on my Windows machine and Mac. friend the problem is the same on the whole. Does anyone know how to fix this? Thank you!

Check the settings of substitution of relevant glyphs on the pallets the text-centric and also check the paragraph styles and all that...

  • Ligatures

I have a code in a plugin InDesign that traverses all glyphs in a font and extracts for the glyph unicode value by calling glyphUtils->GlyphToCharacter(font, glyph, & userAreaChar)

For most glyphs, it is a unicode value in telling me what character this glyph represents. I'm now working with the Devanagari fonts where there are many glyphs that are combinations of many characters unicode Devanagari Ligatures. Is it possible that I can do a reverse lookup to find out what unicode characters, when combined, produced this glyphID?

I have to use glyphUtils->GetOTFAttribute and browse to find what combination of result of unicode characters in a particular glyphID? And what settings should I use to GetOTFAttribute get the ligature table?

  • PDFs from CS3, ligatures appearing is not on the PC of the Publisher, changed appearance of fonts

Hello. I have redesigned just a magazine using the Hypatia without family, the family of the future and the Arno Pro family. Future is one font that I was using. Hypatia and Arno, ligatures are totally abandoning the pdf on a PC. And when the editor made the changes in the "comment-able" pdf file and has sent back to me, really none of the fonts appear right. There's nothing like Hypatia or Arno, or future. The traffic police seem to stay put, but that's all.

I try to spot it's a little tighter. But while I do this, I wanted to put this here on the discussion forums. Since it is a magazine in its entirety, it won't be acceptable for her evidence in this way. I don't know if I can send a pdf to someone at Adobe to look and see what they think is happening? I'm not finding much on the tips about it either so I don't know if this is a widespread problem or not.

    Follow-up...

Kellie and I discussed and problem, then she checked with the editor.

In fact, the Publisher has put comments on the exported InDesign PDF file PDF using MacOS preview and then save the file and return it by e-mail to Kellie. Overview of converted all of the text of Arno Pro MacOS, future and Hypatia Sans Mac OS versions Multiple Master Helvetica fonts and several times of master who obviously did not have all the glyphs from the original fonts.

The editor has been advised to download and install the free Adobe Reader, and guess what? The problem disappeared.

    Problem solved!

Sorry guys, but there is absolutely nothing Adobe can do about this problem otherwise than to continue to educate our clients to avoid software PDF reader that simply does not implement or does to implement properly the complete PDF specification. (Note that this specification is an ISO standard now, not something that is secret or Adobe exclusive somehow!)

  • Ligatures in Office 2010

Office 2010 provides the ligatures for adapted the OTF-fonts. It works very well for Garamond Pro, Adobe Caslon Pro, Pro Chaparral, Kepler, myriad, Tekton Pro... But this isn't for Myriad Pro. Hotline of Microsoft responded, this could be a problem of the police of Adobe. Any idea? Are you able to reproduce the problem with Word 2010 and Minion Pro?

I just tried using ligatures in 2010 to Word using Myriad Pro. Function of automatic replacement of Word 2010 has worked properly, its replacement by ligatures for ff and fi. Perhaps your copy of Myriad Pro is corrupt. Have you tried to see if the ligatures appear in another program, for example, in InDesign? Or, if it's just a special ligature that appear not, have you checked list of glyph of Myriad Pro If Myriad Pro contains special ligation?

  • Getting glyph positions

Is it possible to recover all the glyph sizes and positions used to compose a line or block of text?

Assuming that I am confident FTES to compose my text for me, I'd like to get the details of the typeset text, so I can use t

its information to generate PDFS, for example.

I can almost do it with TextLine.textSnapshot.getTextRunInfo (), but the info returned surprisingly execution do not understand what glyph is positioned.  It includes the index of the original input character, but often characters or character sets is not replaced in the composition.  Ligatures (e.g., 'fi', "ffi", etc.), for example, use a single glyph to render 2 or more characters.  In addition, some complex scripts use different glyphs for a character according to the location of the character in a Word.

Execution info gives me a matrix transformation for each character, which is great.  Is it possible to obtain glyph information to go with it?  Or am I not understanding what contains this info?

  • Hide ligatures

  • Variations of glyphs for automatic page numbers?

    Hello

Anyone happen to know how to use an alternate glyph for the automatic page numbering? OT police I use has an alternate glyph for the number '1 '.

    InDesign CS3 / MacPro

    Thank you!

    Jesse

If it's just another character in the glyphs Panel, I don't think there is a way to automate that. InDesign can automate it only if it is configured as a stylistic set or a ligature, or an ordinal, a contextual alternate. Or a signature. Or something like that. In other words, if you can change via the OpenType menu (in Control Panel), then you can change it with a style.

  • How to disable a yellow background for glyphs (Mac IDCS4)?

I don't know when this started, but my text documents now show a solid blackish yellow background for each glyph on a page.  I looked in InDesign preferences and everything seems to be associated with glyphs, but I can't find out how to get rid of those unsightly marks cluttering up my pages. If I could turn them on and outside, they would sometimes useful, but I can't find out how to disable them.  Help, please.

Thoss are ligatures and what you see highlighted are glyph substitutions.

  • The effects of a message as lazers and Fireworks do not work

I've updated my phone to iOS 10 but the laser and lights Fireworks and what not effects do not work. Instead, the message shows and in parentheses, it is said (sent with lasers)

    Greetings aknopp21,

Thank you for using communities of Apple Support.

I see that upgrade you your iPhone to iOS 10, and laser and impact of fireworks messages do not work. I use these effects a lot on my iPhone when sending messages. So, I understand the importance of them to work on your iPhone.

Please make sure that you have not reduced motion activated. Use section reduce the screen on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch resolution, specifically, this section:

iOS uses motion effects to create the perception of depth on your home screen and in applications. If you have sensitivity to the effects of movement or movement of screen on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch, you can use Motion reduce to turn off these effects.

To activate the movement reduce, go to settings > general > accessibility and press the cursor to reduce the Motion.

When reducing Motion is enabled, certain effects screen change or are disabled on your device, including:

    • Screen transitions and effects using the effect of dissolving instead of zoom or slide effects.
    • Effect of Parallax where your wallpaper, apps and alerts that move or move slightly when you tilt your device are disabled.
    • Animation and effects in some applications are disabled. For example:

If reduced motion turned on, please turn off and then test to see if you get the same result.

    Have a wonderful day!

  • Strange glyphs appear when achieving return key

Hello, I have a problem with the 5.6.2 Pages.

I recently downloaded a font set that I really like and I want to use to write stuff, the font set is 'Bodoni FLF' and I downloaded here: http://www.moorstation.org/typoasis/designers/casady_greene/

I added in the font book and everything seems to work very well (I tested it on TextEdit), but when I started using it on the Pages I noticed that whenever I hit the BACKSPACE (to a new line) a strange glyph appears just after the last character of the last word of the line. You can see a screenshot that I took here:

    http://i.imgur.com/Mu3rja1.jpg

This glyph will appear with all the font styles (regular, italic, bold and bold italic) and the printer will print it. I also opened the file .ttf with Birdfont but I have not found this glyph. The strangest thing is that this glyph appears only on Pages, I also tried TextEdit and Microsoft Word 2011 for Mac and this font works fine. I tried to download the police web sites, but the rest of the problem.

Can you help me solve this problem and make this glyph disappear?

    Thank you.

PS: I'm sorry for my bad English, it is not my first language.

Cassady & Greene were among the first producers (other than Adobe) fonts PostScript Type 1, which have been designed for Mac OS then 16 bits.

Never, they were of good quality and if you like fonts non - Unicode TrueType someone used some (who knows what) conversion utility to change their format.

Pages uses Unicode to map its fonts and I suspect that the conversion has created a defective glyph table. You can perform self-test police utilityon the police, but should simply not use the font.

There are many other alternatives, well clear Bodoni , a lot of free fonts. To get started, see Google Fonts and font squirrel .
