  You are going to use the audio, you need to convert the files first variable framerate of a constant framerate with hand brake. If you do not you will get out of sync in the export file.

  Don't forget that your left folder tree is set to 'tree' (the little menu icon on the right of the title bar).

  Click on the + sign to the left of the main folder to display subfolders with images.

  If you want to see the subfolders without all the media files, select the master folder and right click, then choose the last option to display all of the subfolders.

  I'm new to Lightroom, but not to the digital imaging.  I am deciding whether or not to use Lightroom as archiving software.  I have imported photos with various types of files in Lightroom, copy them into the default location and convert NEF photos in .dng files.  Everything seems as it should in what concerns the lists on the left, and the files are where they are supposed to be in the default locations and are operable and viewable in photoshop.

  The problem is that everything that is displayed in the environment Viewer are rectangles greyed.  No images.  Can I export an image in a different file type to an external location and display it correctly.  So all the images are there and LR know where they are (since he created and put them there).  The film in low also rectangles is just gray.

  I have no idea what prevents images from appearing and I hope someone here can help.  I am running XP SP3 and Lightroom 2.5 632038 Raw 5.6.  I import files NAVE of Nikon and a D300 camera Coolpix 4000 Scanner.  Photoshop reads all of these pictures raw with their plug-ins.  Moreover, I also imported jpg and tiff files and they do not appear in the screen either.

  Believe it or not, your monitor profile is corrupt. A corrupted profile can sometimes manifest only in LR and not in other programs managed by color as Photoshop.

  Either use a hardware standard, which is the best thing (look up on the web Spyder), or modify your monitor profile by default in sRGBxxxx, with the rest of your profiles. On Windows XP, you can do this through control of management/display/settings/advanced/color of the Panel. Make the second of these two things is really just a stopgap. If you don't calibrate it with a hardware device, you will always have incorrect colors.

  Anyway, to convince yourself that the profile is in fault, change it in the color management.

• I am trying to transfer an old profile in Windows 7, but the AppData folder does not appear under my name in the USERS folder. How can I find it?

  When I go to the troubleshooting help and click Open containing folder I get a window of Windows Explorer that displays the path used (s) - Edward-AppData, etc.. Under "existing photos that are missing," said he found 193, but it made no difference what choice I made there, because the import tab is grey.

  Thinking that Lightroom was not aware that the 193 pictures on desktop and laptops were one and the same, I went back to the laptop and this time this export negative files too. Then I deleted the original folder of photos, who intend to import from the catalog again, this time with the negative of files in my Office catalogue. For Lightroom have forgotten they ever existing on the desktop. But the same problem still occurs in the dialog box - it wont let me select the folders, the photos are grayed out and import the button is too.

  I does not solve the problem but I have found an acceptable workaround. I restored the images that I had deleted in the original folder and then copied the files .xmp of images published on the laptop (using the file manager), paste it into the original folder on the desktop and then said LR to replace the original metadata. It is not the same as importing the catalog, but it is good enough for now.

  If the trip catalog and photos are all on an external hard drive, USB stick or SD card the normal sequence is:

  1. Connect the support/device to the main computer
  2. Open the catalog main LR and click file > import from another catalog
  3. Navigate to and select your *.lrcat file or double-click on the file *.lrcat on your device
  4. Import from Catalog dialog box should open
  5. Click on the drop down menu to file handling
  6. Choose news copy Photos to a new location and Import

  I have only one LR Master catalog on my desktop computer (Mac Pro). When I shoot on location, I use my laptop (MacBookPro retina), with an external HD which stores a temporary catalog of 'Place' LR and photos. Both machines run the Mavericks. When I go home, I connect the external drive 'place' to my desktop, choose "Import an another catalog" and navigate to the catalog 'Place' on the external HD normally I have the option "import and copy to a new location, so that the new originals are moved to my master of library of images on an internal HD dedicated in the MacPro. After the upgrade to 5.6 LR, I no longer get this option in the dialog box. What Miss me? I've done this dozens of times without problem.

  There is plenty of space to move the originals to another destination.

  In addition, it seems that I solved the problem by starting the 'Place' of the HD catalogue externally while connected to desktop MacPro and its closure.   I have an old mac in 6 years that the battery exploded so I bought a new mac (Macbook Pro 13, 2015, running OS X El Capitan). I have an external hard drive that I backed up my LR5 the catalog and raw files on my old Mac. On my new mac, I have my EXHD plugged and the LR5 (of membership cloud of Adobe) running. I'm sailing LR5 to open the catalog on my EXHD do, essentially, on all my edits on my photos on my new computer. I get the attached message that it does not bc the parent folder does not allow for files to be created in the breast of the it.

  What should I do?

  Old mac still works so I was wondering if I could try to save the catalog on a USB (its about 4 GB) and rather than the new mac. Or try to save the EXHD catalog in a different way or something.

  I copied the EXHD catalog to my new Mac desktop computer and then sailed LR5 catalog on my desktop. WORKED LIKE A CHARM!
