Lightroom 6/CC export very slow

Not just slow. Ridiculously, unusable, costs me slow money.

The Setup is an i7 3.1 Ghz overclocked (running up to 3.3 GHz), 16 GB RAM, SSD (Samsung 850 Pro mSATA) with OS and app catalog, second SSD (SATA 850 Evo) with photos on, hide on RAM disk. Windows 10 and LR 6.11.

Export is painful, but the current example is 131 Nikon D4S and D810 RAW files at 648-pixel wide < 200 k files (not my choice...). It is by replacing older versions and it took 20 minutes to bring up the dialog box "Do you want to overwrite?" and was more than an hour "export readiness. Based on the previous batch, I believe nothing will happen for about 40 minutes after the export dialog preparation goes missing, then it will start to export and take about an hour to do the export. Before the last update, I think that the entire sequence would have been 5-10 minutes... I optimized the catalog, but that did not help.

I also have problems to export in Lightroom 2016/CC. That's slow by glaciers

Help > system information to check which version of LR that you are running.   If you are on LR CC 2015.2, it contains a serious bug with export: Lightroom version 2015.2 crashes Upon export/external edition.

You can update to CC 2015.2.1, just released, and that may well solve the problem.  But there are many other issues widely reported to 2015.2 that 2015.2.1 does not correct.  So, me and others, recommend that return you to CC 2015.1.1, following the instructions here: how I roll back to Lightroom 2015.1.1 or Lightroom 6.1.1? . Wait until Adobe cleans up the mess and release 2015.3.

  • Release of Lightroom CC 2015.6 VERY SLOW!

    Hi guys,.

I use Lightroom CC 2015.6 contacted Camera RAW 9.6 out of 10 Pro 64 bit and I have pretty decent rig: i7 6950 X (10 carrots), Asus Radeon Strix 1080 GTX, 64 GB 3200 RAM, SSD on PCI.  'Use the graphics processor' is enabled in my preferences of LR, but I don't see an important when different it is turned off.

First of all it takes LR about 3-4 seconds per image to build 1:1 previews, which means several hours if I have thousands of images from a shoot.

When I try to get a glimpse of some of the images at 100%, and to quickly move between them it works fine for maybe 5 minutes and then it starts to slow down: it takes LR seconds to create each preview and also from seconds to move between images. Furthermore, the previews are 3840px in size and average quality.

In Manager tasks I can see that at the start after start LR uses only 5-10% of my CPU resources and about 2 to 5 GB of RAM, but after a few minutes the use of RAM increases 15-20 GB and that's when LR becomes very slow. It seems he keeps each image previewed in memory and not release to the system when I close the preview.

I also tried another software to compare and other programs were significantly faster (Aftershot Pro is the fastest, followed by DXO Optics Pro and Capture One).

So it seems that this problem is strictly linked to the software and not to my material at all. Also, I noticed that after the recent updates, so I wonder if relling until one of the earlier versions might help.

Ideas to improve my experience with the latest edition of LR?

I'm really scared, because I don't really have time to wait for the software when working on thousands of images each week.

Your response will be appreciated. Thank you!

You have your system configured to save all 1:1 previews in your catalog for ever? I set mine to delete every 30 days, so I don't have all that stored somewhere in a cache with LR.

Because it goes so slow down anyway I don't think you have much to lose by trying to clear your cache. But read up on it before making this decision.

In addition, if your photos are stored on an external I wonder if there is a problem with this external hard drive bus speed?

Or if it's all beings stored on your local disk with the OS and applications, maybe it's having a shape any conflict with something the OS or a partner app? Do you think these performance issues when other applications are turned off? Just think-tanking with you here because it seems to have no else responded yet.
Hope of those is the solution.

    Hi rileyt.

You can disable the graphic processor of Lightroom preferences to correct performance.

    Open Lightroom

Go to Lightroom preferences in the Edit menu

    Click the performance tab

    Deselect the graphics processor

    Restart Lightroom

For the sign in question refer: Lightroom does not launch or closes automatically after the splash screen

  • Lightroom works very slow all of a sudden

I searched and read all the forums on the optimization of the performance of Lightroom (How to improve and accelerate the performance of Photoshop Lightroom) and have watched many videos with tips on improving the performance on YouTube and have not yet found a solution.

Question: After a few months of using Lightroom, it suddenly became unusably slow. It was not a demonstration of deliberate for its slow over time. Instead, one day it was usable, and the next day he was not. Even in the library module it lags to switch between images. When I press F for full screen, where it was instantaneous and now takes about 10 seconds and is then stuck in fullscreen. This is true for the large images and old photos of iPhone even in low resolution. Can import is no longer the same wait more than a minute between clicks.

    On my computer

    • 2015 Macbook Pro (a few months)
    • OS X El Capitan 10.11.2 running
    • Intel Core i5 at 2.7 GHz
    • Memory - 8 GB 1867 MHz DDR3
    • Graphics - Intel Graphics Iris 6100 1536 MB
    • Hard total is 120 GB
    • Drive hard use 96 GB of the - 47 in photos and approximately 22 GB in "others" which I suppose is a majority of the Lightroom data
    • I almost exclusively use this machine for browsing the web and photography. Nothing else. very few other programs and file type

    On my Lightroom

    • Lightroom CC
    • 2015.2.1 release
    • 5 864 total photos on the computer and my main Lightroom Catalog
    • Only about 60 have changed considerably in the develop module
    • Majority taken on a JPEG of A6000 Sony 24MP camera

What I tried to solve the problems, does not

    1. Read a lot on the size of the catalog. Mine is still quite small, but I've tried closing the catalog and begin a new one with about 200 shots straight out of the camera. This has not solved the problem.
    2. Optimized catalog
    3. Preferences changed to automatically reject 1:1 previews after a day.
    4. Top left says nothing about the rendering preview. This along with the fact that the issue has been sudden leads me to believe that "Preview size" are not the issue, but I could be wrong.
    5. I tried to move all my photos on an external hard drive fast - catalog file was still on my computer, but I had a lot more space on the machine. This has not solved the problem
    6. I turned off of face detection, because he had tried to distinguish faces
    7. Increased raw cache size of camera

Lightroom isi the only app I had problems with. Everything else is zippy and smooth. Help, please!

    • Lightroom CC
    • 2015.2.1 release

The first suggestion would be to upgrade your Lightroom to the latest version 2015.3. Select Help<>.

  • Lightroom 6.2.1 return to be very slow

Hello, I posted earlier about Lightroom is very very slow and hogging the CPU in % and the time processor. I was told by staff to uncheck the box use the graph in the preferences. That seemed to work. I took a few photos and am now trying to import their and he is so slow. I can't use this application. Now, I have no way to import and edit photos. Just updated LR 4-6, so I find lightroom does not not like before. LR 6 is very slow at the start, whenever I pass 'Library' to 'Develop' or import images, the Apple beach ball will roll for a few minutes first. My iMac uses OS X version 10.10.5 are all these compatibility issues?  What should I do to make it work better the lightroom?

recently purchased a samsung NX30 camera which came with lightroom 5, after several hours of searching on Google I got it setup properly with the right camera raw to be able to access my raw images. I found that my old laptop is very slow during the processing of hundreds of images that I usually take on a weekly basis.  I bought a new faster laptop, but when I looked for the cd with the software of series and I couldn't find in the mess of Christmas.  I downloaded a trial version of lightroom and got, it works on my new laptop. Is there a way to access the serial number of my version already installed and insert it in the version of track to make it work for me?

    Myron

If you take the time to register to your original with Adobe installation (which most people do not), you can log in to your Adobe account and get the serial number. If you use a Windows computer and still have access to the old computer where Lightroom is installed, you can do the following:

    1. in the window folder options, make sure that you are able to see hidden folders.

    2. go to the C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Lightroom folder.

    3. use Notepad to open the file, Lightroom 5.0 Registration.lrreg

You will be able to retrieve your serial number of this file.

  • When I export a photo from lightroom, the image is very pixelated.

When I export a photo from lightroom, the image is very pixelated. This Burr occurs regardless of whether I do adjustments in Lightroom.  It seems that place just the photo in it develop modual without doing anything to it taints the image in such a way that when it is exported from the modual develop the export pixelated fate.

There is a radical difference between these two images. Incredibly, export of Lightroom has been shrunk down so it has fewer pixels. This means that if you try to display them on a similar screen size, you will need to expand by zoom. Really just, which increases the size of the pixels, so pixilization. He looks exactly like its original size. I think you should just turn off the Image resizing option (uncheck the Resize to fit) in your export settings to get the quality you are looking for.

  • Lightroom develop Mode very slow to respond to commands

When I try to get a photo ready to print and I am in the window to develop, the response time when I try to make adjustments to the phots are not acceptable. Very, very slow and almost impossible to accomplish what I need to do to get the photo in print mode. I have a blockage somewhere but I am at a loss to know how to fix this problem. Any help greatly appreciated

Issa, john brings a very valid point

I had some problems not unlike yours, and all that was needed was an update for my Nvidia driver.

Because I updated the driver, my lightroom {and computer} runs smooth as silk.

You can check, to see if a new driver is available...

I hope that wiser member with chime in here?

  • Very slow even with instances.

Hi all, I am trying to compress a bunch of my own videos to save space. I have the compressor 4.2.2 on El Capitan 10.11.5, latest version of the software. My specs are:

    iMac 5K end 2015

4 GHz Quad Core i7, hyper threaded to 8 logical cores

    32 GB of RAM

    AMD Radeon R9 M395X 4096 MB

I export source H.264 in MPEG-4 h.264. I'm very slow sometimes, and this becomes even slower when I add an instance. Also, I edited the .plist preference file for the compressor and added more cases that I have been authorized by default because it was not maxing out my CPU. If I have 1 instance (as the compressor allows me) or 4 instances (which uses 90% of my CPU in the activity monitor), it seems much slower than the single instance. Why? My iMac is the most high-end model and a 8 logical cores, how is it unless its slow export when I use more instances? Its already very slow with just a single instance. How to speed this up?

The Mac Pro is the most high-end model.  When transcoding to H.264 format, use not all instances.  The CPU has a built-in H.264 encoder that uses the compressor.  So bodies indicates compressor to ignore that and just do it via the encoding only software.  The speed you get is the speed you get.  Without knowing the length of your videos, what are their original format and the codex, or how long they take, I have no way of knowing if your Mac is slow or if you expect too much of him.  This information would be useful.

I have taken e machine to my local application, e store twice, claiming the material is good, but the software is obviously not correct that they admit that it's very slow, so they wipe the machine and system restore...

sound she's like going round a roundabout...

    Help

So, what operating system Mac are you on? You are not running an iMac on iOS.

The Apple store actually erase your entire hard drive or they just install the OS on top of what you have?

If you downloaded from any type of torrent/pirate bay Web site, there are some that will include a few unwanted songs (like bloatware/adware/malware) with their free software, especially if this software costs money elsewhere - for example, you might have installed something that will not be fixed by installation of operating system unless all of the hard disk will be deleted first.
