Lightroom randoming erase files suddenly

I use Lightroom 6.0 on a windows 7 PC, import of Canon CR2 files.  I'm not convert to DNG.

but it helps XMP "sidecar" System.  As of January 30, 2016, when I import the CR2s, the folder containing the CR2s is suddenly empty.

The files are there prior to importation in Lightoom.  Somehow, Lightroom can access the files, but I can't see them.  Operation

system displays the records in question as being empty.

I already tried the visualization of hidden within these folders files and checked the trash of the system, in one case, I imported the new CR2 files and when

I have I have JPEG exported from the CR2 newly imported into a folder that contains other files JPEG, existing JPEGS all got erased.  I've been using Lightroom

for months, without any kind of problems of this kind.

Hi Pouillon,

You choose the movement at the time of import into Lightroom?
Because moving can cause the original images from their original location to the destination location selected at time of importation.

If these images are available in Lightroom after import, you can right-click / command, click on the image and choose display in the Explorer/Finder, which would take you to the actual location of the image on your hard drive.

Kind regards

Claes

When I select a sequence of five frame to render HDR in Lightroom it merges files in a preview very well. But when I click on the Merge option, the progress bar is obstruction of about 42% complete. I suspect a memory problem, so I spent a few hours uninstalling a bunch of useless software on my laptop and still photography will not merge the HDR sequence. It worked once before, but now it does not work. Help!

I just 8 GB of RAM and have been able to put together five separate images HDR images. I compared these files 5-image HDR with files - 2 and 3-image and see improvement very few (if any) using all five. Your results may vary, but you can try to reduce the number of images until you get your new laptop.

  • What data does Lightroom not import files?

Is there some metadata that lightroom does not file read?

As some very specific develop settings, etc.?

And if it is not the case, reset these parameters it when reading the metadata of a file?

    I use:

6.3 LR on Windows 7 Professional 64 bit

The files are all on local disks, in part on the SSD as well as the operating system, in part on a different disk.

    Thank you.

Could you be specific about the parameters you are talking about?

I think that's what the OP is trying to find, DJ.

Could Oliver, you not just to convert a Raw file and then compare the Exif data found in Raw format and that in the conversion, the use of an Exif reader like Exiftool?

Note also that there is a difference between Exif is not copied and Exif do not read. LR certainly ignore - does not apply - some Exif. but it is still in the files.

  • Lightroom loses NAS file locations after external editing in photoshop

When I use Lightroom and use the command to edit my RAW files in Photoshop and then save and close Photoshop and Lightroom loses my file locations.

Indeed, in my test, the original RAW file that I edited was on my NAS server in ' / Volumes/home/something thing-private/Photos/original/_DSH4794.» NAVE. Published Photoshop saved successfully the new file in the same folder that "/ Volumes/home/something-private/Photos/original/_DSH4794-Edit-2.tif" but Lightroom was get her in "/ home/something-private/Photos/original/_DSH4794-Edit-2.tif".

It seems that Lightroom is ripped off the beginning of the game "/ Volumes" file path and I have to say Lightroom where the file is really so he could rebuild the link. No idea how to solve this problem?

I work with the following configuration:

    -Mac OS X Yosemite 10.10.5

-Home-made NAS (freenas) server to store all my RAW files

    -Lightroom version: CC 2015.2.1

    -Adobe Photoshop Version: 2015.0.1

08-12-2015, it's always the same problem with Lightroom version: CC 2015.3 and Adobe Photoshop Version: 2015.1 unfortunately!

I did more stable after reading a message on another forum (LR loses the locations of files after that I have Edit in photoshop on my iMac - Lightroom Forums) and found out that the problem was caused by the AFP share name: home. It seems Lightroom or Photoshop don't like stocks AFP named 'home' when it comes to performing a "Edit in Adobe Photoshop CC 2015...". I renamed my AFP share in 'nashome', and it's working now.

The cause has been found and there is an easy solution, but the problem is still to be fixed by Adobe now!

  • How can I change lightroom 5 previews smart on the book of mac pro (mbp) when lightroom master image files 5 are on my external hard drive is disconnected from the mbp

How can I change lightroom 5 previews smart on the book of mac pro (mbp) when lightroom master image files 5 are on my external hard drive is disconnected from the mbp? So far when I try to disconnect the external hard drive the mbp, I get the pop following window: "external hard drive A" disc could not be ejected because it uses 'Lightroom '. Exit this application and try out this disc again. When I do that and restart Lightroom 5, Adobe Photoshop Lightroom - screen select catalog appears, but does not list my external hard drive A as a choice.

I've been reviewing Adobe's Lightroom Help | Smart web page Previews Lightroom 5 and still have not been able to understand what I am doing wrong. Any help would be appreciated.

    HI Thomas,

Thank you very much for your suggestions! They finally gave me the direction I go solve the problems I had. Basically, the Mac Book Pro based Lightroom irdata files still had thumbnails. Once I removed the and redirected Lightroom external hard disk, smart previews of the external drive work when the player is well off the MBP. Much obliged.

I was wondering if you have any suggestions on how to backup all the files content and related data of Lightroom that exists on the external hard drive to another external hard drive as a backup? Ideally, it would be great if I could be able to launch security HD since the Mac Book Pro and do the work of Lightroom with the backup image files and intelligent previews correctly. Thanks again. Your help has been invaluable.

  • Lightroom cc 2015,5 CR2 files suddenly not importers of SD or flash cards

I've been using Lightroom cc for three months without problems.  Yesterday I tried to import pictures from my flash card and received the following message: "the following files were imported not because they could not be read."  I formatted the card, took more blows and tried again without success.  they import photos (aka iPhoto) very well.  Tried the same thing with my SD card and no luck.  Same message.  I just installed the latest update of Lightroom (2015.5) and still no luck.  Help, please.

This message indicates the destination folder doesn't have WRITE permission.

    So here is the solution

    1. Determine the Destination folder (it's on the right side of the import dialog box under Destination)
    2. change the permissions on this EXACT issue in your operating system has the WRITE permission; OR change the destination folder in a folder that has WRITE permission
  • 5.7 Lightroom won't matter suddenly is more images

Suddenly, Lightroom 5.7 will be no longer able to import images from any source. I plugged my card and he appeared in the list of sources on the import window. However, when you click on the map in the list of sources, none of the pictures will fill the import window. I crossed the Finder and copied and pasted the images from the card to my work in the car. I went back to Lightroom to try to import the files from my drive to work and just add to my catalog. No chance here no more. I restarted my computer, and then turn off completely. None of those who helped him. I tried to eject and restart the player and that didn't help either. It doesn't matter what source I click in the import window, no images are displayed. I've never had this problem before. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

In the Lightroom Import dialog box, click on copy. Is - what the Destination sign on the right appear? Is it increased? Is there a specific destination folder specified?

I bought a new olympus Pen F but Lightroom does not import raw (.orf) files. You can solve this problem?

LR does not yet support the Olympus PEN - f: supported by Adobe Camera Raw devices.  The support can be added in the next version (versions leave roughly every quarter), but we cannot suddenly sure until version comes out.

  • RAW (cr2) files suddenly appears as damaged files

Being all thin random rawfiles suddenly is corrupt. I tried to open the two CC LR and PS CC apparently normal files under windows/Faststone, but in LR and PS they are damaged. What can I do about it? What happens here?why.JPG

FastStone and Viewer Windows display the embedded JPEG preview. What you see is an indication that you have a hardware problem somewhere in your system. It could be a failing hard drive, a faulty camera card, a bad USB cable if you are using one. This is a problem that you will have to isolate.

I was in the middle of editing and all of a sudden the lightroom adjustment brush no longer works. By clicking on the brush on an image doesn't do anything, and the effect for the adjustment brush sliders all seem to highlight gray, as if they are disabled.

I tried to restart my computer, update to Lightoom CC 2015 and by deleting lightroom to my preferences .plist files, but it made no difference.

All other features seem to work ok, but I'm running out of ideas to try to solve this problem

  • TimeMachine erases files?

Lost any content using Time Machine as a return to the top.

    What I did:

    2009 iMac running OS 10.6.8.

Make a TimeMachine backup to an external drive.

    Installed El Capitan of iMac.

Migration Assistant/TimeMachine to restore content to the iMac.

IMac ran slowly and applications are not supported by El Capitan.

Re-installed Snow Leopard and Migration Wizard used/TimeMachine to restore backed up files to clean the snow leopard.

It seems that he was more content in the external drive TimeMachine to restore to the iMac

Looks like that TimeMachine erased the files after it their copied in El Capitan of the first restoration.

We didn't see any warning that the files would be deleted from external TimeMachine upward.

How can I get the files back?

    Hello gregfromoakland,

I understand that you are looking to get back to Snow Leopard to go to El Capitan, while retaining the files were backed up by Time Machine. Fortunately, your data should still be intact, but is not accessible from Snow Leopard. The article linked below for details how to use the recovery on your Mac partition to use the version of El Capitan of Time Machine to restore your files and Mac OS X at the point before the installation of the El Capitan.
