Media Player 11 randomly erases all the files of music from the library

Hi all! My Media Player randomly erases all music files in the library! The only way to recover is to run the add files program once again, which takes forever!

Thank you

  • My ongoing media player make copies of all the songs in the library.

Everytime I open Windows Media Player for my music, I find that there are multiple copies of each song in my library. I tried to delete the extra copies but they keep coming back with even more copies and then I get a message that says that media player cannot play a song because it can't find the file. Apparently when I delete some extra copies of the file needed to play the song is deleted, I think. Why I get so the number of copies of each song and it keeps progress so that I can have 5 copies or more. Whenever I have delete songs and I come back, I think even more copies. Now my library's all grimy upward and I paid for and downloaded music is lost and so is the money I had spent. What is going on?

Looks like a corrupted media library, then I suggest that you change it. Note firstly reset the library will make you lose all play counts and ratings too. Then, follow these steps:

    -Restart the PC.
-Click Start, type services.msc in the search field and press ENTER. In Services, locate the Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service . If its status is started , double-click the service, and then click stop .
-Click Start, type %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft in the search field and press ENTER. This folder opens in Windows Explorer.
-In this folder, rename the folder Media Player as Old Media Player . If you do not see the folder, then it is probably hidden. Set Explorer to view the hidden files and folders and show protected system files.
-Launch WMP, your library will have been reset and will be rebuilt. Check if the problem persists. Tim Baets

  • Just installed update for Windows Media Player 11 and now, all the songs I had in my library before the update, I get the message you need a license to play these songs.

These songs have been copied to my computer from the CD that I bought at retail, and have played several times.  Is there a process where they can be reinstated? I don't know if it's the right word, but I hate having to download individual licenses for these songs. And why doesn't IE throw me on the internet as soon as the download license screen happens?  Do I have to uninstall the update?

    Hello

    1. What is the exact error message you get?
    2. what version of Internet Explorer you are using?
    3. do you have an error message when Internet Explorer throws you off the screen?
    4. you remember the update that caused the problem to occur?

  • Windows Media Player 12 - slow to update the library

I have a big disco 50K more songs.  I recently moved the music to a harsh new Bank and changed the directory structure.  I deleted the music library WMP (by removing everything C:\Users\###\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Media Player), open from WMP12 and so went to file/manage libraries added in each of the directories music where the music is stored.  As expected, WMP began to read music and I can see the songs populating the library as they come.

The problem is that this is happening very slowly.  As about 2 seconds per song.  At this rate, it will be almost 4 days of continuous operation to completely rebuild the library.  I got it done in the past (but maybe not with WMP12?), but never experienced this kind of snails pace update.  Any ideas on what could be causing it to ad to the library files so slowly or what I can do to speed things up to?

    Thank you

  • Why not Windows Media Player 11 does not recognize w4a files in the library list more.

I have Windows XP Pro (SP3) with Windows Media Player 11. I had a virus wipe my hard drive (everything has been updated) and after reinstalling and updating everything, it no longer recognizes the w4a files, but it automatically plays them the OMP 11 if I click on the file in Windows Explorer.

Before the accident, all the files on my computer w4a was included in the library. Now the entire albums, as well as individual songs are missing. In fact, now NO w4a file is listed. So my question is, why does Windows Media Player 11 recognize the w4a files?

    Neil

    Hello

Method 1: I suggest you try the steps from the link below and check if it helps.

    a. close Windows Media Player.
    b. find the file of database on the computer that contains the entries of your library. In general, the library database file (CurrentDatabase_219.wmdb) is located in the following directory:
    (Drive :) Users/xxx(the user name)/Appdata/local/Microsoft/Media Player
    c. right click on the file and then click Rename.
    d. rename the file by changing its file .bak extension.
    e. start the player. When you do so, a new database of library file is created.
    f. press F3 on your keyboard to open the add to Library dialog box search for computers.
    g. click the Browse button to search for a folder on your computer that contains digital media files. Specify the location of the folder in the box look in.
    h. click on the search button.
The player will search for digital media files and playlists in the folder you specify and add to your library. If you have your files and playlists stored in different folders on your computer, you may need to search for files several times, by specifying a different folder every time.

    Method 2:
You may need to rebuild the database of Windows Media Player.
    Here's how:
To resolve this problem, delete the Windows Media Player database. To do this, follow these steps:
    a. exit Windows Media Player.
    b. Click Start, run, type %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Media Player and then click OK.
    c. Select all files in the folder and then click on Delete on the file menu.
Note: You don't have to remove the folders that are in this folder.
    d. restart Windows Media Player.
Note: Windows Media Player automatically rebuilds the database.

    Hope this information is useful.
