Limit Internet users

Hello, I wanted to ask if this is something that could be done through the application server or just the firewall. I have the server running the DHCP protocol for users in the office, that's why I wanted to know if I can maybe the server did not assign an IP address to a certain MAC address during certain periods of the day. With this same vein, I also reproduced the users of the network, I don't know where are these users and I wanted to see if the server will be reduced by giving the IP addresses of these machines.

Blocks internet access at the end of the connection, the client - or somewhere along the connecting track.   Blockage of the customer implies something like Parental control.    Blocking of access to the network via the connection path involves both the network firewall and a proxy server.

OS X Server is not usually configured in the path of the network connection, and there are no.app of UI for a proxy on OS X Server.

Server.app UI has not requested DHCP configurability.

It is much more easily possible to provide in a specific subnet addresses and blocks, although users can still manually assign addresses to circumvent this.

As customers - those who have the ability to manually set an IP address - can potentially work around this problem with a fixed address or with an automatic address assigned, it seems no obvious advantage to remember an IP address.

The normal path to locate the "rogue" hosts is to check the configuration of network via access points and (managed).   Some managed switches can also be configured with MAC or port security, which increases the difficulty with unreliable connections.

Internet access is limited only through firewall.

Some general information on the environment and the general problem that you are working towards here, and what is meant by 'duplicated along the network users' could get an idea or lead to other alternatives, too.

    Hello

Is it possible to back out if necessary? We have to bounce the server applications after the loading event, subscriptions, or can it be implemented while the instance is up & running?

You can return back (mentioned in the other thread). I think you have to bounce the application services once you are finished.

  • Limit Internet threshold for users

    Hello

Is there a way I can limit user bandwidth with SonicWall NSA 6600? I saw my users are absuing very excessive Internet and thinking to apply a limit daily usage per user and per group of users to control their use.

I know sonicWall is able to limit users/connections/LAN by destination Protocol, but it is not applicable on us. As I don't want to limit all the Protocol where our staff and our students are using the same protocol, but due to abuse the internet connection this Protocol is CAP and effect everyone.

I would be very grateful if someone could point me in the right direction.

    Kind regards

I'm afraid that this is not possible right now.

I suggest to explore "basic bandwidth settings." This could be useful. More information below:

  • Authentication problem of proxy server for the domain while accessing internet users?

We have a problem in my company with the proxy server.

We have an Isa proxy server to restrict some users who access the internet

allow us some users and sites for them to access

but some times it requires authentication for all users who have access also. At that time they keep calling us. so I created a temporary rule to allow all traffic for all users. After awhile, we disable and it is working... but in some cases allow same temp rule also does not work so we say - join the domain and join the domain again...

It seems that these are all temporary, full-time for us of how, it became

Is there a permanent solution to this problem...

  • Monitoring and identify the activity of internet users

I'm looking for advice on how to better analyze what our users are doing on the internet.

In my environment, we have offices that connect to our main office / data center. These connections range from T-1 services QMOE 10Meg.

The question we have is that since recently we deployed Windows 8.1 and office 365, our users are complained about network non-stop slow speeds and commercial functions of crawl to stop (we run a CMS application for a State Agency).

Currently, we use Ngenius/Netscout to monitor bandwidth on our links. We know that most of this traffic is linked to the servers/office 365 Cloud services but now and then we written that Chew just to the top of the bandwidth by using the 'internet '.

The problem is that our time monitoring tool often connections shows that we can't nail down exactly what it is. For example, it will give us just an IP address, and when I'm going to do an ARIN look upward, or GIS on the IP address, we usually receive vague results such as "the bond of the century" or "akamai".

Does anyone have advice on how we can analyze this more in detail to understand exactly what is happening? Of course, we end up talking to users, but you can't count on their responses. Not everyone will recognize what they do during hours of online work. I also know that you can contact registered ARIN POC for these places to request more records, but this process is not feasible when we have several cases per day.

    Anyone have any ideas?

Sorry with our security guy checked his bluecoat that provided visibility of the URL and there, but very expensive there are free options online

  • Driver manual install - no Internet - user Standard

    Hello

I'm new to this forum simply because after spending some time looking for my answer, I've had no luck whatsoever...  I'll give an explicit example of what I'm trying to accomplish if anyone can understand what it is I'm doing.
Our company has recently designed a product that uses a serial converter USB (MFG FTDI) number.  Through this interface, the customer can view the log files, change configurations, etc...  The customer has asked this question: If an employee has a new laptop (the driver was never installed), he works in a very remote location (no internet connection and Yes, it is typical for our industry), and has a user account standard (without administrator privileges), he or she will be able to install the required driver?
I started to answer this question by creating a standard account on my laptop.  When you try to answer this question, every avenue I pursued leads me to an answer of no. FTDI offers a driver .exe install the application, clicking on it, my computer is brought to its knees, and the only way to recovery is done by 'hard' reset.  I must point out that install .exe that FTDI works well when it run under the admin account.  I tried to do a right click on the device in the Device Manager window that would allow me to point to the drivers, even once, NO luck.  I tried to use the line install command prompts (have the.) INF files) - NO luck.  What really bothers me is that I know that the drivers can be installed as long as there is an internet connection.  I guess that the drivers are placed here: C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository...?  I can't drop files of the driver here because this is a protected system file.
Has anyone has fought against a similar problem?  If so, could you point me in the right direction.  I fell like I am in a bind...
PS I know it is a forum for Windows 7, but the goal is to tackle this problem for XP as well.
    Thank you all!

Thanks, Oberwald, for the answer.  At the launch of the pilot, it should run until the end.  There is no need to specify some settings etc...

After re-reading your original post, I came to realize that my first thought would not work in your environment. You're stuck with the standard restriction in Windows 7 where the new drivers can be installed in one of two ways:

    • When you are connected under an administrator account.
    • Through Group Policy.
The second method doesn't seem to be feasible for machines in remote areas.
  • Can I restrict or limit internet access on a farm in RDS?

    Location:
-need to allow remote access to the farm of RDS Internet of remote sites (without VPN)
-Sessions close require access to the intranet using IE (Dynamics CRM)
-Some users do not use internet in a responsible manner (wasting time, inappropriate sites, etc.)
-need ability to prevent browsing of the sessions

I know that we could set up a proxy server (IAS or similar) at Headquarters but I can't handle this being rather long and frustrating for users (and so myself).  I have also no prior experience in the implementation or management of a proxy server (just to know that they can cache and filter web site traffic), so one for 300 active users on the portal management would be a problem.

If I want to avoid using a proxy server at Headquarters can I do a GPO or something to prevent casual internet browsing from just the servers in the farm?  If we can allow access to specific sites (white list) which would be an interesting option, but not a condition in this regard.

We review to implement a form of filtering on remote sites affected (using K9 agents on computers personal or similar) of the internet, so we should just remove the back door of the use of the farm to browse the internet and circumvent the once connected local filtering.

Remote sites use stations XP and Win7, configured in mode working group.  Each site has 2 to 4 computers.  Remote sites share their internet access with computers not relating to staff, so we are reluctant to restrict internet access for all users on the site (using the subscription services provider of firewall for example).  There are more than 20 remote sites.

The farm is built using the 2008r2sp1 server.  We have a RDS (also a dedicated redirector) gateway and 4 session host servers.

    Any ideas?

  • Scripts CPL to limit simultaneous users

I want to configure a CPL script that will limit the number of concurrent users, based on the records in the Zone.

Someone has it before completed or is it an example of script that I need to write

    Hi Peter,.

If I understand correctly, you must limit the number of simultaneous calls in VCS and you intend to do by using the cpl is my understanding correct?

If so, unfortunately, as I mentioned before in another thread, VCS provides no mechanism for counting the number of active calls and then to limit the calls after reaching a certain value. You need something out of the box to get your need, maybe a policy server custom call external, as I suggested in the other thread, will actually take a peek:

    https://supportforums.Cisco.com/message/4010381#4010381

I see you really need to have a few VCS feature that allows to limit the number of concurrent calls, maybe something applied to a particular rule of subarea or research. As VCS does not provide this feature at the moment, I suggest you go ahead and make a feature request. Contact your Cisco representative, it can help you with this question.

I also suggest a 'method is not perfect' to control the number of concurrent calls based on the limitation of bandwidth, it's the only thing you have in VCS inbox, itself:

    https://supportforums.Cisco.com/message/4004704#4004704

    I hope this helps

  • Adobe freezes for 3 to 5 minutes during the launch on restricted Internet users

We have the Internet restricted on some users in our society and users have problems when Adobe Reader lance and then freezes for 3 to 5 minutes, declaring not responding do not and then works.  If we unplug the Ethernet cable and launch Adobe Reader, it launches and works very well.  Can I get a list of URLS that Adobe is trying to hit so that we can give them access through the firewall, or tell me how to stop Adobe Reader to try to go to the Internet during the launch.  I already tried to disable the Protected Mode and updates revealing Adobe at no download.  I also tried to disable the enhanced security and trusted root certificates, but nothing seems to work except by giving users full Internet access, which we do not want to do.

Opening of acrobat.com in our firewall resolved the problem for limited users.

  • How to select view Internet users

    Hello

I'm deploying a View 3 infrastructure for all users.

I deploy security servers too, but I don't want all my users to access their desktop via the Internet. I want to dedicate Internet access to a Happy Few.

I don't see anything on display administrator to filter remote users.

    It is possbile?

What about assigning a different range of intellectual property to the pool of LAN and blocking 3389 from the server security for this range of IP addresses?   They will not be able to access the pool from the web, but those on the outdoor pool will continue to be able to access it remotely.

  • slots limit per user

    Hi all.

I put maxujobs = 60 in the Scheduler configuration, so that a user can not have more than 60 jobs running at once.
But what about the parallel jobs? If a user sends 60 parallel jobs (for example - orte EP 8), he will receive 480 slot machines!
I would like to set a limit on the maximum number of sites that a single user can get running at once... something like "maxuslots"...

I know that I can put the var 'niche roles' in the parallel configuration env, but would limit the number of parallel slots for all users as a whole, not on a per user basis.

    Any comments/advice/help very welcome.

    Best regards.
