Limit sharing folder "Users".

Hello

I work in a domain environment, we use windowns 7. I noticed that the 'Users' folder is shared from each computer.

Why this folder is shared by default for everyone?

How can I stop sharing this folder for all machines in the network?

Thank you

In don't think that it is an option, I have more than 800 machines.

Thanks for your help

With more than 800 machines, you need to acquire skills in scripting. Here's how you can do:

for /F %a in (PCs.txt) \\%a net psexec.exe share xxx/del
where xxx is the name of the action that you want to remove. PsExec.exe is a popular tool that you can download from the Microsoft site.

  • Cannot stop sharing folder users

You answered this question here before but nothing using the options listed in my situation.  On my Windows 7 Desktop my entire user profile seems to be shared and I can't turn it off.

If I right click on this folder or any folder I have only two tabs "Général" and "Previous Versions".  If I click users and then in the menu at the top of Windows Explorer that says 'Share with' I have to 'advanced options' once again, click on which appears the property has only of 'Général' and the 'previous versions' tabs.  If I go t 'manage' the computer and then go to 'shared files' and then 'actions' - right-click on the part of users don't give me all the options what-so-ever to stop him. Go up to the menu actions gives me the same results.  I can't even delete this thing.   I can't stop sharing this folder.

Is there some registry entries that I can delete or modify to return control of my computer?

I solved my problem by going to the following registry key:

    Move to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\lanmanserver\Shares

I deleted the user folder and other key actions and it seems to have solved the problem for now. So I'm marking this as resolved.

If sharing had special security taking place there also an entry under the Sub-touche security so past security (section actions), select the name of the value of sharing and removal

  • Number of simultaneous connections that I have in a shared folder on Windows 7 Professional?

I just need to confirm something.

Is there a limit the number of users who can access a shared folder on a Windows 7-based computer at the same time?

As far as I can see the limit seems to be 20 users... the reason why I say that it is when you share a folder, you cannot increase the limit to users who access the folder above 20?

The solution would be to install the server operating system instead of a workstation OS.

    Any thoughts would be appreciated.

The limit is 20 concurrent connections. Remember, however, that one device can do multiple connections.

In any case you would be much better at this sort of level with an operating system server in any case. Office of the OS are not intended to be used for sharing files on this scale.

  • Scan cannot access a shared folder on 10.11.5

I shared a folder on OSX 10.11.5.  The permissions are correct.  I can access the share from a Windows machine (he asks credentials and is REALLY slow to display files), but when I try to scan a document to sharing it errors every time.  It worked until recently.  I'm 100% sure that the credentials on the scanner are correct.

Just so there is no confusion I created an account on my scanner on a network (which is on the same subnet) with the same references as those of a user on the OSX machine.  The sharing is visible and accessible in writing from a Windows machine.  When I scan from the scanner (A Konika Minolta Bizhub) it says "error: unable to connect to the server."  This isn't a matter of connection/permissions because when I change the credentials, I get a different error message.

    Any ideas?

So you're probably aware that Apple has changed the version of SMB used 10.7 and later and as a result many multifunctional no longer able to scan to a share on the Mac via SMB. I know that KM has released a fix for some of their machines that made this work again. Since you mention work recently, I assumed that it was a Mac OS x 10.11.x. Is this correct?

If Yes, then on the KM, you can navigate to sharing Mac instead of using the address book entry? If you can, and then using this function, you should see the Mac and when you select it, you should get a prompt to authenticate. If you specify the account name on the Mac, that needs to be enabled via system preferences > sharing > file sharing > Options > Windows, then the password file sharing, is the shared folder appears? You get an error at this stage, or when you first select the Mac?

  • Sharing folder file transfer between accounts

I used Migration Assistant to copy files between an old Machine to Windows Vista and a new iMac running El Capitan.  I had to create a new temporary account on the iMac to receive files.

I try to use the Shared folder to move the files to the main account iMac that has administrator privileges.

Once logged into the temporary account, I can copy the files in the Shared folder.

When I go on the account of the first iMac, the copied files are marked with red '-' sign indicating that I don't have the privileges to access.

I thought it was the accepted method for copying files between accounts but need ideas on how to overcome this barrier.

Files in the ~/Public are visible to all users on the Mac. But only this user can modify or delete the files.

If you want to copy the files directly to the real user-> connected on the temporary account, copy the files into/Users/realUserName/Public/Drop box.

  • I can't move original items out of the "shared" folder

I made a new account on my macbook pro OS X 10.9.5 so the first thing I did was moved all my files in the shared folder. then after I had them in there I've moved them back, thinking that he would make a copy in the shared folder. In fact, he did the opposite. He made a copy of all my files, and that's what I have now. all the original files are always in the shared folder, and I don't know how to get out! Help, please.

To remove the Shared folder, you will need to log in as the user that put them there. Other users cannot remove or change them.

  • Database MS Access Access on the remote computer (shared folder)

    Hello

    I need help.

I did a program and it works fine on my computer, but several users will use program simultaneously, each on its own computer connected via a local area network to the computer of mine (data is on my computer in the shared folder).

When I try to access the data on the database (path is the path of the shared folder) I get error 5013 (no database). The problem only occurs when I'm reading something MS access database, but not if I try to read data from the .txt file, then it works fine...

    I use ADO tools

Can someone help me, I would be very grateful?

Your code will be a connection string that specifies the odbc driver or your code has a dsn that specifies the odbc driver, or your code will point to a udl file that specifies the odbc driver. You don't need to worry about the details of the driver itself.

I would also echo what mike said about the jet database. It's the wrong choice for many customers. You can use a jet database to debug sql queries and the design of the table if you wish, but you need to move to a more robust db such as SQL Server or MySQL.

  • Can access the shared folder by using the name of the server, but is unable to use the intellectual property

Hi, I need help with a very strange problem.

I have a Server 2003 domain controller to PC and all the domain user can access any shared folder of the server using IP address or FULL domain name.

So I joined a R2 of 2012 new server to the domain as a workstation normal and not as a new domain on the network controller, and the problem is that one cannot access a shared folder on the new server by using the IP, but can be accessed using the name of the computer.

My Admin user can access the folder using the IP address or the name comp. on any work, but the user of my AD position may not use intellectual property.

I can using Ping IP or name of the computer for every user of AD.

    Please check the attached images.

When I try to access it using IP, it gives me the following error:

\\192.168.0.2 is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resourse. Contact the administrator of this server to fing out if you have access permissions.

Currently, there are no available connection server to process the logon request.

  • How many connections to a shared folder is allowed in the different versions of Windows?

I have Windows 2000 with a shared folder to which only up to 10 computers can connect. Is there a way to increase this limit, and if not, is this upper limit in later versions of Windows? Thank you.

This is the limit on all but the server versions.

    Hello

Run on the supercomputer network configuration wizard.  If this doesn't fix the problem:

    1. download and install the Tools of the Windows 2003 Server Resource Kit .

    2. click on Start > all programs > Windows Resource Kit Tools > Shell .

    3. type these lines at the command prompt, exactly as shown:

    NET user guest/active: Yes

  • CANNOT write to files in the shared folder of XP on a PC running windows 7 - but good vice versa

I have a laptop under Windows 7 (SP1) and a desktop running XP (SP3).  I have connected both via a wireless network. While I can see and access shared files/folders from one computer to the other computer, I can only read/write files in the shared folder on the portable computer that is running Windows 7.

If I try and change a file in the shared folder from the PC under XP on my laptop, I get the message "this file is set to read-only. Try again with a different name "."  I know that the file is NOT checked for read-only. When I change the name of the file I get the error message "\\Desktop\SharedDocs\filename.doc you are not allowed to save in this location. Contact the administrator for approval.  You want to save in the folder my documents instead? "If I save the file to another location on the laptop under Win7 it save then OK.  I can not just save a modified version of the file in the same shared folder from desktop running XP.
It seems that it must be something to do with permissions and access to the parameters of the desktop running XP but I can not find these. Fairly easy to find in Windows 7.
Finally, I don't have a login/password set for the connection to the computer to Office XP.  I don't have a user name and password for the laptop Win7 but you have turned off password protected sharing.
Anyone have a solution to this?
    Thank you

OK - the problem is now resolved.

I noticed that the read-only for the shared folder has been checked. When I unchecked it and also checked the box "allow network users to change my files" in the shared folder properties/sharing, I was able to modify and save files in the shared folder on my laptop.
It's a little weird because I thought I had done this the other day where the results have been less successful.  Strange.
    Thanks for your help.

  • Cannot map a shared folder

I have two computers, X and Y. I want to the map on X, a share named htdocs, who lives in the computer Y.  Both are Windows XP.

    X has ip 10.22.204.87

    There's ip 10.121.241.140
X belongs to a domain. Belongs to a workgroup.
Y, I have an administrator called x. X account, I have another account administrator, whose name is different from x.
Please see my session shell below. Maybe I'm typing the wrong thing.
    C:\>net use \\10.121.241.140\htdocs / user: x
A senha OU o usuario nome e invalido para \\10.121.241.140\htdocs.
    "Digite a senha para what 'x' is connected has ' 10.121.241.140 ':

    O erro sistema 1326 occurred.
Falha connection: User unknown OU senha incorreta nome.
    C:\ >

The password is 123 and the password. I can connect with on the computer accounts of Y.
Can you spot what is my misunderstanding? Thank you.

You may need to specify that you are using a Local connection rather than a connection to the area.

    Try this:
    NET use \\10.121.241.140\htdocs /user:10.121.241.140\x

Also note that you will only be able to authenticate as user 'Guest' (IE, not the user "x") if the "Simple file sharing" is enabled on the computer target (10.121.241.140 in your case).
On XP Home, Simple file sharing is always (forced) enabled.
On XP Pro, you can disable Simple file sharing - see the following article
