  Here's the scenario: I imported Excel data into a document, InDesign CS5.5. I then apply the paragraph to the cells of the table and cell styles. When the data in the Excel file are changed, update the links in the "Links" InDesign window as one would if an EPS, PSD or TIFF file had changed.

  My problem is when I update linked data, I'm losing all my formatting of text. InDesign changes all the text in the cell linked to the "base" character style setting I use six different paragraph and the cell styles.

  I tried to change all aspects of the dialog box original import, each box of cell styles, paragraph styles, character styles, table styles, but I can't avoid the reformatting of the text after it is updated. Basically, load us an html with the Blackberry HTML browser page and provide links hyper text severeal to other subsections providing hyper links text themselves until that user pages of real-world information (just typical help things).

  The last link of these pages are always displayed vertically. I've done more laps that I know not to try to solve this problem (including links hyper text in a list in a tab, but it keeps going that way no matter what).

  I put links hyper texts in tables and it solved the problem. I try this in the first place, because the html tables are only supported for jde 4.6 (http://docs.blackberry.com/en/developers/deliverables/11843/BlackBerry_Browser-Fundamentals_Guide--5...).

  And if you use design fluid/reagent, it works without any additional intervention.

  Drmontague277467 poorly understood you completely. And even if he understood that you fix: text flowing between the text boxes would be a rather useless feature, because existing HTML specificatiovno or real browsers supports the text stream.

  I've never needed to do, because I have a personal dislike for combining accents (having been burned in the past in Vietnamese projects) but I can test it easily enough. It works without problem on CC 2015 on OS X Yosemite. I can test on a variety of versions and platforms, if you want to know something specific. I suggest that you tell us what policies should we use, too.

  If you need Cyrillic with accents for some languages not Russians, there are a few ways to go. Once more, I recommend combining accents - you can still use the tool already thin to concoct a single precomposed glyph that is encoded correctly and don't risk getting an accent combining when you switch to a font that does not have the acute combination.

  I created a color illustration in Illustrator and saved as .ai file.  I'm working on a black and white manual that I created in InDesign.

  When I placed the illustration in my InDesign document, it looks blurry.  When I export my InDesign document as a .pdf file seems correct. When I print the pages with the illustration, it seems correct to my PDF document.

• InDesign CC 2015 hangs when one) place another InDesign file or b) opening a document that already contains the link to another InDesign file.

  Recently upgraded to CC 2015 CS6, have the latest versions of OS X and CC.

  When opening documents CS6 with links to other documents, .indd, after a short time (while updating the links I think) InDesign crashes.

  Have you tried

  (a) open related files and save it again as a document CC

  (b) copying items in a new document

  but when I try to place the document in another document new and empty, crash.

  After a bit of experimentation, I discovered that the problem was a logo in eps format that appeared in the documents. Re-recorded as .ai, fixed to a problem.

  We were unable to upgrade many of our clients for the new editor because they have grown dependent on feature "Custom links" former editor that added the link by using the name of the module as the link for the link text.   Yes, the Adobe help is, ah, garbage. You get RTL tools if you download the ME version of InDesign CC. In order to get that, you must delete the version of InDesign that you now, open your creative cloud application, click on the gear-preferences icon in the upper right corner, go to the language settings and choose a language setting as "English (Arabic)" or "English (Hebrew). You will get an interface with all editing tools in English ME as the character orientation, orientation of the paragraphs and so forth.

• Problem with Sinhalese and Tamil text in InDesign

  I have a text sent to me to Sri Lanka in Microsoft word - Tamil (Arial Unicode MS) and the Sinhalese (Iskoola Pota). In the Microsoft Word document, they appear correctly.

  I need to transfer this text in Adobe InDesign. When I do a direct cut and paste, the characters for both languages are distorted with some characters jumping in front of the other (see image below).

  What I tried to do

  • I tried to cut and paste into Notepad and then insert it into the ID, but the same thing happens. I also made sure that I had selected the appropriate fonts described above in ID.
  • I also have Unicode installed in my computer and have installed the appropriate fonts - http://www.locallanguages.lk/
  • I made a PDF from Word and then placed in ID but I am working on a very public screen with hundreds of words in three languages (Sinhala, Tamil and English) which vary in sizes, so I need to be able to adjust the size, etc..  My absolute last resort would be to do this for each section of the screen, but it will be extremely laborious.

  My question is

  Is there a way to transfer Sinhalese and Tamil Microsoft Word text in InDesign and for the characters to stay as they are in Word?

  You better put the Word doc (using the file-> Place), but this probably isn't the issue here.

  What you need to activate is the universal composer. If you use a new version of InDesign (CS6 or CC) then you will find in the menu of the Justification of your paragraph style or the properties of the paragraph Panel dialog box or a few other places. If you use CS5.5 or an earlier version, you need a script or plugin to turn it on, because it was a feature 'hidden' at the time.
