Link to one Oracle database to another database

Hello world!

I have 2 databases. I need to create a database link to copy a table from one database to another.

Two of them are Oracle 10 g v2

Please advice me how can I go about it.

I try to avoid import and export.

What are the options left to me?

Thank you

Dear user645399,

You can create a database with the following link;

create public database link "OPTTEST"
connect to SYSTEM
identified by ""
using '10.6.105.131:1521/opttest';

Please note that when you search for something through this database link, your user that you put in the database link is important. Lets say you are the sys user on your database and to ask something of this database link database. You do not question him as the user sys, will ask that the user that add you in the link to database.

Hope that helps.

The DBMS_RLS package contains the grain end acadministrative interface to control cess, which is used to implement virtual private database (VPD). DBMS_RLS is only available with the Enterprise Edition.

Still one thing to link, I could see that, only for 64-bit Windows, this download is aviable.

my laptop at home is 32 should I changed to Windows 64 to use the Oracle database.

    Thank you

If you are interesting in the score, CAE, etc. you have Enterprise edition. To use 12 c, as writes sol.beach, you must upgrade your laptop for the 64 bit OS. You can download company 11.2 32-bit edition to practice on your computer laptop.

  • To talk to a different Oracle database Oracle

    Hello

What is the best way to transfer data from one oracle database server to another oracle database server.

I'm 100% sure that DBLINKS, but one customer recommend the FTP method to transfer files due to some complications of management.

What is the point of having two oracle databases and the ability of not using Oracle connect to another with a simple DBLINK. Why complicate with additional un.csv/.dmp more and then propose sqlloader/external?

And it's relatively such a small file.

I would really like to know some of your thoughts on this.

First: I didn't know you were running 10g to 10g. A you said at the beginning, I would have deleted one of my points.

    Your questions were:

    a. What is the best way to transfer data from one oracle database server to another oracle database server. I'm 100% sure it's DBLINKS

Not necessarily the case. That's why I pointed out reasons why DBLink isn't always the answer.

    b. What is the point with two oracle databases and the ability of not using Oracle connect to another with a simple DBLINK.

Because a DBLINK is not the solution to 100% of the cases.

    c. why complicate with additional un.csv/.dmp more and then propose sqlloader/external?

And why not? Because there may be reasons to do so.

(If DBLINK is the solution... Why is he not Transportable Tablespaces solution? Because not every transfer can be done with TTS. Similarly, not all transfer is best done with DBLinks).

Security is a sometimes a reason to not allow a DBLink. I saw DBA DBLinks of installation with the accounts with privileges 'ALL' in the remote databases. If I have access to an account that has a DBLink in a 'statement' database that connects to a database of EBusiness Suite Financials like APPS account - wow! There are a lot of danger in that as well. This is perhaps a reason why a general ban DBLinks is sometimes used.

Before "bad experiences" (for example with database queries) may be a reason for a total ban on DBLinks.

If you are a professional consultant, it becomes your job to convince your customer that you can provide a safer, faster method using DBLinks.

And then, as I say, a DBLink is not always the best solution. More than once it is. But not 100%

  • 10.2.0.5 Oracle database link (Linux - x 86) for MS SQL Server 2012 (x 64)

Please guys, I really need your help on this issue.

I tried using freetds driver but when I use db link I get this error:

ORA-28500: connection between ORACLE and a non-Oracle system has sent this message:

[Generic connectivity using ODBC] [S1000] [9013] error General nvITrans_BeginT - rc = - 1. Please see the log file for more details.

    ORA-02063: preceding 2 lines MIXERI

To cite that I can connect to the remote sql server through isql tool with no problem at all. I study a lot and I found no solution for this error, so to this end, I will try to find another alternative way.

Is there another way to manage the communication link between the system of 2 DB db?

    Thank you

    Hello

S erro coming from the ODBC side then you can try the following-

    1. change the listener.ora LD_LIBRARY_PATH for-

    (ENVS=LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/lib:/usr/local/lib:/db/oracle/10.2.0/lib)

    stop and start the listener.

    2. don't you get the error even if you delete the entry-

    HS_FDS_SQLLEN_INTERPRETATION = 32

    3. get a debugging bridge route-

    -Comment the entry
    HS_FDS_TRACE_FILE_NAME = /db/oracle/10.2.0/hs/admin/MIKSERI.trc

then the tracks go to the location by default with default names-

    /DB/Oracle/10.2.0/HS/log

-set the level of the trace-

    HS_FDS_TRACE_LEVEL = DEBUG

-start a new session of SQLPLUS, run select, close the session.

-Download the trace from somewhere, it can be displayed by our care.

It can also be an idea to install and use the 11.2.0.5 last DG4ODBC gateway that is certified with RDBMS 10.2.0.5 and available at My Oracle Support you.

Patch 13390677: 11.2.0.4.0 PATCH SET FOR ORACLE DATABASE SERVER

  • AGAIN starts after only one physical disk has several partitions makes no sense to the production oracle database?

    Dear Experts,

Don't + REDO1 diskgroup have only one physical disk has several partitions makes no sense to the production oracle database?

    For example

    • + Diskgroup Redo1 have 2 50 GB disks (fact these 2 discs are the same physical disk partitions OR these should be separate disk as recommended approach)?
    • + Diskgroup Redo1 have 2 drives of capacity 50 GB (for RAID 1 + 0)
    • + Diskgroup Redo2 have 2 50 GB disks
    • + Diskgroup Redo2 have 2 drives of capacity 50 GB (for RAID 1 + 0 )

    Thank you and best regards,

    IVW

    Hello

Partitioning your disks for ASM configuration as 'A' might make sense. If you lose one disk, you have the discs to another.

'B' totally make sense if you have lost the disc that you have lost all group ASM and you need to change this with something like 'C '.

But obviously you need redundancy ASM configured appropriately.

The error message '[Microsoft] [ODBC Driver Manager] data source name not found and no pilot by specified default {IM002}' explainind auto - DG4ODBC is not able to find the ODBC DSN you created.

In your file init of gateway, you have set up the DSN: HS_FDS_CONNECT_INFO = testmysql

And according to the administrator of ODBC in Windows screenshot, you have created a DSN called testmysql - unfortunately you created as a USER DSN. But DG4ODBC needs a SYSTEM DSN. The reasin why he needs a system DSN is that, by default the Oracle listener is running in the local system account. Therefore, when create you a USER DSN ODBC it can be access by the user who created it, but no one else can use it - and also not the local system account which serves as the Oracle listener. If you need to create a system DSN that each user on this computer can use the DSN (including the local system account).

  • Copy of challenge Questions / answers in one IOM database to another

    Hello

I need to copy Challenge Questions / answers in one IOM database to another.
It seems that I have about 477 lines in the PCQ table in my existing database of IOM.

I need to copy these questions and answers (all users already exists in the new basis of OIM) to the new base of the IOM.

    Any ideas or suggestions?

    Concerning
    Vijay Colin

The questions and answers are encrypted in order to copy directly from the db will not really help you unless you have the same encryption keys in the two IOM installs.

    What I would do is:

Signature of use service logging to log on as each user and the API of the IOM to extract information about the use of the getChallengeValuesForSelf() API
Generate the data in a file
Move the file to the new instance of the IOM
Use signature based logging to log on as each user and the API of IOM for updating issues using setChallengeValuesForSelf() API

Here you will need to check the exact TNS service where you want to connect.

If you want to create a DB CONNECTION in Server "A" and it should point to server 'B '.

    (1) check the connectivity to the server 'B', as below - make sure that listener runs on the server 'B '.
    $tnsping to_b

    (2) If you can do a ping to the correct host/Sid/Port. Then you should be able to create DB link
