So far, we used sets driver open source such as COMEDI (from RTAI) and analogy (from Xenomai) to interface with these cards, however the latest maps of the X series are not supported by one of them - and development seems to be to a halt.

I was wondering if NEITHER provides a driver based on linux for these cards. If so, is there a list of cards that it supports?

If you are thinking of materials of the X series, offers of OR support only Linux is through a driver based on the sources, the DDK [1].

In addition to the source code, the DDK also includes documentation on the registers, bit fields and principle of operation for the capabilities of the device.

The DDK shows how you program a hardware DAQ on any OS. Note that this is different from how you would create a DAQ for any OS driver. In other words, the DDK wants to show what records and fields of the piece in the program and in what order they should be programmed so that they can properly control the hardware. The DDK is not a reference architecture for the driver and kernel programming, but over as executable documentation.

  • Best Linux for host? ... and ESX vs. Workstation

I've been running VM Workstation since 1999.  I just built a physical machine for my lab at home I want to only run on VMS.  I have two questions.

What is the best linux for VM Workstation 8 host?

I went the compatitibility guide at:

    http://PartnerWeb.VMware.com/comp_guide2/search.php?deviceCategory=software & testConfig = 17

    and put:

    Workstation

    8.0

    all the

    all the

    Linux

    Desktop

    64

and it happens with Mandriva and SUSE.  It's weird.  No Red Hat?  No Ubuntu?  No Debian?  Mandriva is a French company funded by the Russians, which hurts me a little inside, and SUSE is not free.  It makes me wonder if this page is current.

Which leads to my next question. ... Are there not some hypervisor product that does not even need a host operating system?  What ESX?  I can get all the features of Workstation (snapshots, etc.) with this hypervisor product? ... and of course, I can't spend $2,000 for a lab at home.   It seems to me that to remember that one of these products is free,... was it ESXi?  Can someone explain the differences between the workstation and ESX in a few sentences.  But if I need the version ESX is $2000, then too bad.

I suppose that, ideally, I would like to install Workstation as a hypervisor (no host operating system).  Is there anyway to achieve this?  What do you suggest me?

ESXi uses a very minimal video driver - a computer display virtual itself is not possible
This is why you must use a second physical machine to view virtual machines

inside the virtual machines, you get only a virtual video card - playing the latest games inside a virtual machine is not possible

    > or that, it cannot run on an i7? ... once again, really?

This is not correct - do not know who told you that...
ESXi is very picky when it comes to disk controllers - fake Raids and cheap stuff is not supported - but it will work with normal SATA drives

  • SHELL favorite for DBA

Operating system: Unix (AIX, Solaris, HP-Ux) and Linux (RHEL, OEL)

My current venture is the fourth in my DBA career. In my previous company, I worked only in Solaris or AIX where we only had korn shell. I know that the bash shell is not installed by default in AIX.

Most of the DBs in my current company is hosted under Linux. Other directors seem to use the bash shell. I can see them using bash feautures like AutoComplete (for folder names).
I wonder what shell is popular with administrators generally.

    Salvation;

It depends on which shell is familiar, for me also its bash... but as mention before that depends on you mate ;)

PS: Please don't forget to change the status thread answer whether it is possible when believe you your thread replied, he pretend to wasting time in other forums users while they are looking outstanding which is not answered, thank you for understanding

    Hi lucapepile,

The problem is that on the Web from Toshiba site are alone Windows disks because Linux isn't taken in charge

I think that you should look for help on some Linux forums. Maybe they can help you find a suitable driver for your wireless card. Wireless network adapters are used in many different laptops so I put t think that it s a Toshiba linked correctly.

Finally and most importantly, I found this:

Hello.. .i understand that everything is not supported for linux but there at - it plans by toshiba to develop appropriate drivers for linux?

    one

    Hello

At present, there is no information on this subject and all laptops are supported just for the Windows XP operating system. The problem is that the G20 use RAID technology and in this case, it is more difficult to run Linux OS.

Sorry, but I think that it will not happen soon.

  • New version of Linux for Ubuntu

Ubuntu would need a new version of Skype for Linux 4.1. At least I think.

Since qtwebkit in Ubuntu has been improved from 2.2 to 2.3, the Skype binary segfaults at startup for most users. There may be a problem with qtwebkit - 2.3, but some think that it is rather necessary to rebuild of Skype for Linux with the latest version of qtwebkit.

A workaround is about to be downloaded to the archive Ubuntu 13.04, but a more appropriate solution would be obviously desirable. (Bug Ubuntu related)

Think that this problem has been resolved through Skype for Linux 4.2.

  • Drivers for Linux for Satellite A210-183

Where can I find the drivers for Fedora 8 i386, for Toshiba Satellite A210-183!

As you probably know, Toshiba doesn't support the Linux operating system and thus the Toshiba Linux drivers are not released for a single series of Toshiba

Your last chance is unique looking on sites of manufacture of chips for Linux drivers.
