Local adjustments - Automask quality question

When you perform highlight recovery or exposure heavy using local adjustments to the RAW files I see a repeatedly demonstrable difference between the use of automask and not she. When automask is often about it seems to produce artifacts of type noise or grain with small black spots mixed in an otherwise uniform luminous area before performing a heavy settings. If I make the same local adjustment with automask disabled results appear much better with changes applied much more smoothly. Is it a normal use of the automask artifact? Could there be a way to minimize this effect while using it?

What you see grain is not an effect of the automask.

Automask works this way: it limits the flow of the AdjBrush to similar pixels in the tone and color to the pixels you first clicked on when you started painting. If an object is composed of pixels which vary considerably, the automask won't paint on pixels that are dissimilar. Who produces the "irregular". This is the case of design, otherwise there could be no automask.

The solution is to intermittently turn off automask, paint on the "tasks" and after that you can enable them again. Alternatively, do the painting on the "tasks" at the end of your AdjBrush session (with automask uncontrolled).

  • Local adjustments - mobile applications.

I want to make local adjustments to photos from my iPad but it seems that global settings can be made in mobile Lightroom. Some healing/cloning in fix, but how can I make local adjustments exposure, highlight or contrast? Given the opportunity to use your finger as a brush, looks like a logical function but I don't see that it is available in any of my mobile apps Adobe CC. Signs would be appreciated.

You cannot currently do adjustments local in LrMobile, although I would expect that adobe would work on this subject. However, there are other mobile applications of CC like Photoshop Fix or Photoshop Mix that can help you. I think that Fix may be the one to try first, but I've not used it much and there may be another application that does the job.

  • Dehaze saturates too. Would it not be part of the local adjustments?

I just spent a week on the beach in the Mexico, and all the time, it was very foggy, so most of the pictures have a few fog especially in the sky and further. I could get a lot of details in the sky with the dehaze slider, but it also made the foreground too saturated.

I think that it would be best if dehaze welding part of the tools of local like brushes adjustments and filters radial/degree.

As everyone thinks? Is the cursor dehaze, what is it worth? Are there alternatives that avoid the over-saturation?

Adobe, many of us have mentioned that the dehaze should have local adjustments. We'll see if this changes. As far as the saturation goes, we also talked and asked a color slider. For now, you can do a work around PS creating a virtual correction with the amount of dehaze you want, regardless of the color. Then do either one to get the color you like. Bring them both in the PS as a single file: files of layers, and layer with the strong dehaze as the top layer and the blending mode to luminosity.

  • Quick tool change applying local adjustments

I recently bought the LR5 and installed it on my iMac. When you use local adjustments, for example the adjustment and brush paint on a masking area I know the slash key can be used to switch between brushes A and B, but I find that I often also need select erase on the fly.

Is there a key on the keyboard that will select erase so I can't erase switch then back to brush the mask?

Hold down the option key and the brush will go from positive to negative allowing you to refine your mask.

  • 5 d mkII files local adjustments plus Crash

While a few strokes of brush 15 + on a file, I get Lightroom crashes, crashes in propper, or freezups. I also managed to get the freezups when exporting a file with a lot of adjustments in jpg format.

It started on LR 2.2, but yesterday, I upgraded to 2.3 after reading on these forums, but it did not help.

It's on XP 32-bit SP3 with 2 GB of Ram. GeForce 7600 GT.

I used a 1 d mkIII previously to learn more, then a year and never had these problems and so far only had them with 5dmkII-files.

On a sidenote, local adjustments were still very slow on this computer, but it never crashed before lightroom.

  • local variables of power question

    Hello

Attached, please fine 2 similar vi. WhileStoop.vi, I can start or stop the program at any x + y values.  But, in eventStoop.vi, I can not use stop when the program is running (program will end when x + y = 10).  Why the variable local power not working in my eventStoop.vi?

    Thank you
    Chuman

It's a bad idea to have an event structure that contains code that takes a long time to run as the while loop inside the case in your situation.

Probably, he doesn't stop because you have locking front panel until the event of this case ends checked.  So when you press the Start/Stop button, the same case runs and performs a while loop start running.  But because the cover is locked, it can not detect the change in power again which is necessary to stop the inside while loops.

  • Review past local adjustments?

After having a local adjustment to an image (for example, with the graduated filter or adjustment brush), is it possible to then come back to this point in the history of the develop module and see what settings were used for local setting?

It is easy to see what global settings then in force were clicking at any time of the sequence of the story, but I can't find a way to determine how to set the local adjustment sliders when I made a change to an image.  (Clicking on a point in the story, and then by opening the Panel just local adjustment shows the values used for the more recent local adjustment, even though they have been used to change a different image.)

I believe that you can click the "Pin" icon which indicates a filter or brush was used. Then the settings used for this filter or brush should appear on the right.

  • Flash CS3 Animation quality question

I created the Flash animation with integrating graphics background JPG and 1 lines vertical and horizontal pixels. The background is behaving well, but lines blink (or floating, depending on the resolution of the image and the dimensions of the document) despite the different parameters and formats of film I used. I managed to solve the problem by increasing the size of the document (i.e. using 600 x 600 px instead of the expected 200 x 200 px). You the product usually problem when the image moves horizontally on the screen. The JPG image background and all horizontal lines are fine, but the vertical lines flicker or disappear momentarily. I work with Fireworks CS3 and Flash CS3 Professional. Can anyone help? Thank you.

Thanks John. This is exactly what has caused the problem. After I put on the scale the chart outside of Flash, and then imported in Flash him "blinking" had disappeared.
    All the best,

  • How to combine the different saturation sliders?

I'm not sure that understand how LR4 combines the overall saturation slider and local adjustments. Two questions in "BOLD" at the bottom.

    I did the following experiments:

    1) begins with an image raw color, version 2012 process, intact.

    (2) bring a lower overall saturation to-100

    (3) add a graduated with a + 100 saturation filter (I added, say, sharpness-100 to see precisely which side the filter is applied)

I would expect half of the picture to color and a half b & w. Instead, the filter is totally ineffective (that is, it has absolutely no effect, you can see this turning point). So I assume that the total saturation is not "additive" (i.e. - 100 + 100), but perhaps "compound" (i.e. the product of 1 + p/100). If this were true, then any cursor to-100 equal would bring saturation at least. Let's see if this is true:

    (4) set overall saturation to-100. any value for the saturation of the filter is ineffective

    (5) set saturation to-100 and 0 overall saturation filter. now (say) in my photo, the sky is blue on the left and the gray on the right.

    (6) slowly move overall saturation from-50 to + 100: changes in the gray sky. a.... less saturated gray to a sort of... supersaturation in gray (more blilliant and slightly yellow?).

so, the conjecture is false, and it seems that the filter is applied first, and the overall value is applied last, IGNORING what the filter may be done (so if the blue transformed filter in gray, then "saturate" the gray).

    (A) is - this documented anywhere?

    B) in particular, if I want to do everything except a very small area, Desaturate I have to paint the complement of the area including the saturation - 100 who feels quite natural (I want to do something on the small surface paint). Is there a solution?

    Thank you
    HD

    Yes.

In addition to the local against the global problem of clipped pixels command, most algorithms have limits, and what happens when adjustments push them these limits depends on the adjustment.

    For example:

    local highlights:

(assuming that global highlights = 0)

    -50 & -50: same effect as-100

    but

    -50-50 & -50: effect is stronger than-100, but not as strong as-150.

    Why?

because you're to reach the end of this who-highlights can do, and instead of just stop working completely (and suddenly), the effects of other residents begins to roll-off (large cone). Similarly for the shadows. Highlights/shadows points threshold is 100 - nothing more than that and you get diminishing returns.

FWIW - that's why the globals for those who are limited to 100 - so there is enough clearance for the inhabitants to have some effect, even if it is as you would expect.

Also big problems because of the order at the local negative values have a different meaning than positive values.

One of the most critical, especially if the conversion of photos of 2003 with a local negative sharpening (radical change to negative (local) sharpening) introduced in PV2010:

Total amount local sharpening > 0 adds to overall (not sure what is happening to the limit max).

-1 to-50 (partial sharpening total is hidden)

    -50 to-100 (blur)

Another biggie - local clarity. Since negative local clarity is applied before overall positive clarity (as opposed to being consolidated) and negative clarity works radically different "less positive" clarity, there is a huge difference between the setting of high overall clarity and applying negative clarity (locally) too specified regions, versus applying lower overall clarity and complete within the regions clarified using local clarity with positive values. It is the one that bit me a bunch, but thanks to the issue raised by this thread, there will be no more...

I really wish that Adobe documents such things, then we'd know since him commenting rather than find out later...

  • Local adjustment brush dot does not appear

I usually do some local adjustments with the brush in my photos. If I want to go back for an older fit, I click on the point for her. But now the points are not displayed. Can you help me? Thank you.

Thank you! I didn't know that they were called edit pins. In if someone else never looks it: apparently by clicking on "control h" when using the adjustment brush solves the problem too.
