local drive presents a complete explainable disc

Check local disk properties shows full but on enter and do a cntrl has thus property show 2 GB of spare, contains all files are shown but I can't trace the lost 2 GB... help

There is a folder hidden doubling "C:\System Volume Information" which holds that restore points in the system that could easily use up to 2 GB of space that probably will not appear on your same C: drive if you've hidden configured files/folders to disc.  This is probably where your missing space.

You can watch if you want, but don't change anything...  If you don't care about the system restore points, and you want to delete its content, just disable the option system restore:
Right click on "My Computer"-> properties-> system (tab) restore-> turn off System Restore

"Access to the System Volume Information folder"

I moved my photo (900 GB) library on an external drive. The value in pictures new external player as the new library system library. Now when I turn on iCloud it tells me I have to optimize my photos. I'm afraid of losing my originals from my local drive. Optimization of my library will erase my originals from my local computer? I have to delete my old library in iCloud that has already gone through the pain staking the download process (759GB) in order to reuse my iCloud? I try to avoid to keep my computer another 3 months. Simply cross ICloud cannot check the new library with my iCloud library and move on. How can I start again using my iCloud? Please give me some advice or assistance. Thank you

The value in pictures new external player as the new library system library. Now when I turn on iCloud it tells me I have to optimize my photos.

What is your external drive only has 1 TB of storage?  You have found the warning because the 900 GB in iCloud and the size of your current library on the external hard drive will not fit on the disc. If you have a disc, use a drive twice the size of your library of Photos, so you will not miss storage in the years to come. Any drive that you use with pictures must have Mac OS Extended (Journaled) file system.

iCloud library does not know, the pictures are identical. It will download all the photos in the library moved to iCloud and check if they are duplicates. And it only allows you to introduce you, if you use 'Optimize', if the combined size of the photos in iCloud and on your Mac is larger than the available storage.

And Yes, the "optimize" option can cause some originals will be deleted. It is completely dynamic.  You can turn this option off again directly after that you turned the library on the external drive as your iCloud photo library for re-download all original, and before Photos was able to start optimization. Do it only if you are sure, the library will fit.

If you do not all projects in your photo library and did not use the function "Faces" and has invested a lot of work by naming the faces, you could simply start with an empty library on your external drive and let the photos to download icloud to the empty library. It will be faster to download again and the merger of the library moved in your library to iCloud. The only downside, the tags of faces will be missing and your books and other projects. If you need to keep a backup copy of the library has moved.

  • Satellite U400-112: impossible to format the local drive (damaged MFT?)

    Hello!

I had a pretty serious problem with my HARD drive.
    250 GB HARD drive
C: 116 GB - NTFS - Windows XP (Vista initially)
    D: 1, 5 GB - NTFS - (Vista Recover?..)
E: 117 GB - RAW (was NTFS prior to crash)

Local drive E: MFT have been damaged because of the virus attack (I hope not because of my madness!). It's NTFS, now it's RAW. I got all the necessary data partition with program ZAR, but all my attempts to recover or just the format E: remained unsuccessful.
None of the defective sectors found on the HARD drive. Standard Windows tool to format the disks fails: 'it's impossible to finish the formatting of E:

Before this problem with the E: drive, I had several problems with HARD drive. I have never divided re discs, to Partition Magic from the beginning he identified incorrectly. I tried Partition Magic 7 and 8.
    Link: [error screensaver | http://cs1498.vkontakte.ru/u169802/154397/x_3a82b4fb.jpg]

The problem is that the special programs (I tried "find and Mount") also could not identify partitions to correct the defective MFT. I thought that low-level format can help me, but I heard, that the use of all applications for other producers can probably destroy my HARD drive. Are there only special applications of Toshiba developed for such cases? Or you can advice me something else?

    Thanks for your help!

P.S. These applications did not help me:
Find and Mount (can't find the HARD drive)
Acronis Recovery Expert (does not find the HARD drive)
OnTrack EasyRecovery Professional (does not resolve the error, but help to recovery data)
    HDD Regenerator

Thus you get back all your important data?

I would like to just launch Recovery to restore the HARD drive to its factory condition. If the recovery fails, you can try to delete the partitions with FDISK from a startup MS-DOS disk. Free bootdisks can be found at www.bootdisk.com

FDISK can also repair a Master Boot Record by running this command: FDISK/MBR
But it is not 100% reliable, it could cause more harm than good.

  • How to clean my disk overloaded space in C drive? Almost complete. Says "low disk space". Thank you in advance.

How to clean my disk overloaded space in C drive?  Almost complete.  Says "low disk space".  Thank you in advance.

I'd be interested to see a report of Disk Defragmenter. Open Disk Defragmenter and click analysis. Select view report, and then click Save as and save. Now find VolumeC.txt in your My Documents folder. Open the file, and place the cursor anywhere in the file, select Edition, select all to select all the text and copy and paste into the body of your message. To do this, before you run Disk Defragmenter because it is more informative.

Follow a few basic maintenance note.

1.5 the tool provided in Windows to remove unwanted temporary files is disk cleanup. To access this tool select Start, all programs, accessories, System Tools, cleaning disk to emptying your trash, delete temporary Internet files and other selected options. I recommend also you click Other Options, System Restore and delete all but the last system restore point. You must then run Disk Defragmenter.

1.6 using the system restore option is most appropriate when your system is slow and you need to increase the free disk space on your C partition. If you have errors that could be solved by using the system restore to your system settings back to before that the error occurred initially, do not use this option.

1.7. If more than one person uses the computer and they have their own user log you need to run Disk Cleanup in each user profile that you want to delete all the unwanted files.

1.8. a better alternative program to disk cleanup is cCleaner. The freeware version works well for a home user and must be downloaded from Piriform program provider:
    http://www.CCleaner.com/download

1.9. When you open cCleaner you will see four large icons to the left of the window. Here's cleaner them, registry, tools, and Options. For routine maintenance, you normally acceding Cleaner (this is not the mentioned registry cleaner later). When using for the first time only, you can accept the default settings.

1.10. some observations on the parameters. On my computer, I do not have the boxes before the passwords saved selected. In a less secure environment, you could check this option and set cCleaner to run automatically when the computer starts. You also cannot check the boxes in front of shortcuts from the Start Menu, desktop shortcuts and historical form. You must check the boxes according to your needs. Bad first time options causes irritating no disasters.

1.11. the second icon that you see when you open cCleaner's registry. A reserve many experienced users have about cCleaner, it's that it comes with a registry cleaner. This tool should not be used. By using a registry cleaner, but it is the case, provides significant benefits and there is always the risk of creating insoluble system errors, which cannot be resolved by reinstalling the operating system and all that that implies. You will avoid any possible problem of not not by clicking on the Save icon.

1.12 the third icon that you see when you open cCleaner is tools. If you click this icon, it gives you access a routine plus service options. The first two tools are uninstalled and commissioning. I do not use these tools, preferring to use other software options. The third tool is the restoration of the system, which is covered in the next paragraph. The fourth tool is Wiper Drive and you will find reviews about this tool later

1.13 removing the system restore points can be important if you have little free disk space. The ability to delete them is one of the tools options. You can selectively remove those created in less important moments. This makes it easier to hold the restore points for long periods without keeping large unwanted files, whose inflexible approach to disk cleanup fails to offer.

1.14. you can't remove the last restore point using the cleaning disc or cCleaner. If the last restore point contains malicious software, you can turn off and then turn on system restore. This has the disadvantage that restore all points are removed when you want to keep more restore points that are not infected. How to get round this problem is to create a new restore point when you are satisfied with your computer is free of malware and then remove the infected restore point.

1.15. in normal circumstances, you probably rarely need to use Driver wiper. However, there are situations like if you gave the computer to someone else, then the tool may be useful. Please note that the wiper Drive, opening, generates a warning message, which should not be dismissed lightly. Using wiper Drive for the wrong reason could have serious consequences.

1.16 the fourth icon is labeled Options. Many configuration options are available here. You can configure cCleaner to run when start you but remember that this will slow down the boot. Another setting allows you to include or exclude cookies. Yet another allows files named to exclude.

  • My D: / drive (RECOVERY) is completely filled

My D: / drive (RECOVERY) is completely filled.  Can I safely save everything on the disc and remove it out of there?  Also, I'll be in the middle of some on my computer and for no apparent reason, my screen becomes blue and he said is 'dumping', I guess that the d: / drive.

What is the brand of Machine, model, etc.

Are you able to tell what type of files are written on the recovery Partition?  They are backups or similar files?

The only files that must remain on such a unit are the files required to recover your system to the original factory condition.  You can find this information in the manual or maybe contact the manufacturer's technical support.

Any file can be deleted from this drive and saved elsewhere, if they are worth saving, or they can be deleted.  You can see that launch the disk cleanup program will offer you choices on the files on this disc.  You can read about this program by typing the name in the help and Support search box of the program, you can also launch it from there.

You can here, a position similar to yours, there may be some clues to find?

If you see blue screens, try and note the error number.  More details provide you results in a faster and more response.

Control Panel / System / advanced system settings / startup and recovery / settings has an option for to disable you automatic restarts so that you can get the relevant error number and message.

  • Hard drive get more complete without me to add what whatsoever

    Hey

I recently noticed that my 60 gig C: drive becomes more complete at the time. I'm not adding anything to it because I installed all my games on my D drive which is 1 TB. I have norton 2010 is installed with updates, so I doubt that it is a virus. Everyone knows this too and ideas of how to deal?

    Thank you!

    Hi Alex,

    Two files to check:

    (1) C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution, updates can be found here and after installation should be removed. Sometimes they are not causing the file to grow.

    (2) C:\Windows\Winsxs, this folder often grows when the software is installed because it provides a way to allow several files images required by each of these programs (at the time of Win9x as "dll _"). Really impossible to remove whatever it is here if you want your software to run properly, but that would explain why you live with loss of disk space. • voltage of local drives...

    Hello

Maybe someone could give me a hint on this!

I want to, for a short time only, add four hard drives 146 GB each to one of my servers to ESX 4.0. I would like to create a store of data on all four disks. Unfortunately I can't create one, then spread with the other three in the GUI. I guess because they are local disks. I used rather vmkfstools and spans two partitions, I created first using the GUI. Up to present, so good, but I cover more than two?

Is there a way to cover or expand all four local drives in a data store?

    Thanks for your help

    Harro Nehslen

You should be able to do that, if I understand the question correct.

I have created 8 x 1 TB LUN and presented to an ESX host.

Then, I created a data store and all LUNS to end up with a single TB 8 data store added. (I know that this is not recommended, but it works)

If the server see a 1 to LUN or a 140 GB drive, should be the same.

The only difrence will be LUN access through the same HBA and im not sure what is your hardware configuration.

I guess this is a server with a Raid controller card installed.

Create a single logical Volume of the 4 disks using raid with RAID 5 preference

The ESX should see 1 big Disk and you create your data store

  • 2-node RAC with 10 local drives each

    Hi all

I have two servers for SUN SOLARIS v10 with 10 discs of 146GBs each (total 20 records); and Oracle 11 g 2.

Is it possible to implement in the RAC environment such as 18 disks can be used for data files with 1 disc on each server used for the installation of database software? I understand this would be a rather primitive design, but I am trying to get my head around BECAUSE for now.

Installation of an instance of the DSO on each server manages 9 discs (no redundancy) will do the trick? FYI, the servers are on the same subnet.

    Any guideline will be appreciated.

    See you soon.

    Hello
You think NFS or something like that? Not supported, it is only for testing purposes! If your goal is high availability with BECAUSE it will cause the node having local drives will be a single point of failure.
You have a nice Setup for Dataguard however.
