local folders default reply address is outdated email account

I've recently set up TB (31.4.0, windows 7 pro), import a set of local folders and emails to outlook express. TB has associated the latter with an address e-mail which I use is more, although there are always and sometimes I receive mail on this subject.

I have set up two currently active email addresses. Most activity is on one of these.

When I get mail on either, I move to the appropriate in local folders folder. I'm doing this because I want all messages on a topic to be grouped together, not scattered according to what email provider, I happen to use both.

When I reply to a message from the records, it still affects the 'From' address as account of old, obsolete.

Set the default value to my account active or, better, used initially for the message to which I answer?

(Note that I did successfully for the creation of a new message, but I wasn't able to do it for responses)

Thank you

Geoff

I think you have solved it between you.

The old account did not appear in the folders pane, but has been associated with folders and used the Inbox folders.

Remove the authorized account the outgoing record is taken into account the setting on the server, if the answers are "of: the active account.

Because I still get e-mails on the old account, I re-created. This time, he appeared in the separate folders pane of the files with its own Inbox, the same that both accounts active.

He proceeds to download 770 messages in the Inbox new, most/all I need to delete.

Once this done, all will work as desired.

Thanks again for your help,

Geoff

  • How can I prevent the Thunderbird create additional folders when I add a new email account?

I use Thunderbird for about 8 years now, the configuration of the migration from one version to the other. Currently, I have two accounts, he picks up emails from. I would like to add a third account, but whenever I do that, it creates a lot of new files with the name of the account in my folder tree. This is undesirable, especially because it looks terrible and it's also dodging default filtering that I put in place at the global level for received messages.

Create a new account without him how new folders and just using local files as do other accounts?

I don't use Thunderbird filtering internal spam, I use popfile and use the message filters to sort e-mails by Popfile headers added to my messages. I don't understand why it don't let me make a new account as the other accounts without making a special folder to the new account. Help, please?

Point 1. Global Inbox only works with email pop accounts
Menu Tools > account settings > server settings > advanced and select use global inbox to turn it on. Note the folder will disappear, so moving the mail you want them before you change the settings.

Point 2. IMAP accounts must have their own records. The view menu > file > unified view was designed to overcome this as much as possible.

  • The "Reply address" field does not work under the account properties in Windows Live Mail

I use Windows Live Mail on Windows Vista Home Premium system to access three e-mail accounts that I administer.  I would like to change the default reply address in the accounts to use my address E-mail UKU (that is, when I send a message to any of the accounts, the beneficiaries of the default response is sent to my account UKU).

All of my system messages via a different service provider (Virgin) and I discovered that the "Reply To" address in the header is always to my Virgin account.  I entered all my account settings and entered the UKU address that must seek answers (accounts-properties-reply address), but this setting doesn't seem to work.

    Please advise...

  • How to remove project files, trash, outbox, sent to local folders?

These files are a nuisance because they are not necessary and they take up space in the list so I have to move and go down frequently. After you install a second identity, themselves appeared twice in the list! Since the second identity failed provider more after some time (I tested the second identity on another computer where he worked, but of course unwanted directories were there as well, at least not in duplicate), I removed the second identity, the account has disappeared, but duplicates are still there. I managed to find the deeply hidden files on the C pass under "roaming" etc, which was wrong of course. I discovered how can I move files containing messages in the local folders in Thunderbird on a different computer. This will be useful as a backup. However, when I delete files unwanted mentioned in my question, they always after I have restart Thunderbird. I searched the knowledge base several times and found a little confusing. In one window, I found my question in a series of questions by a user, but I couldn't answer key (a number of responses has been designated, but I couldn't find a link to the answers). At the age of 82 years old I still find my way in the computer, but I realize that I'm not in competition with the younger generation. In general, I find Thunderbird works fine for me after several years of use, in any case, I find it much better than Outlook.

  • Virtual identity plugin and file sent by default to local folders

When you use a virtual identity, to crush my default "From" e-mail address my copies of sent email be sent to the "Local Folders" rather than the correct account sent folder.

I checked my account settings and they are positioned (Tools-> accounts setting - > account-> Copies & folders)

The 'Identities' research, I don't have a single identity put in place for this account, which, while they inspected, has the good Copies & folders.

I'm assuming that because I'm using an e-mail address that does not match the email address for the unique identity stored somewhere that Thunderbird is defaulting to 'Local Folders'

One can tell me how I can configure the sent relief records used by Thunderbird if it is unable to match an identity for account IMAP rather than 'Local Folders' folder

I had a quick glance and a play with some of the settings in the configuration editor (search for "sent"), but it seems that when I change the references in there nobody@Local%20Folders/sent to nobody@Account/sent I do not save copies of sent messages

It was working until a few weeks ago, I guess when I upgraded TB

    TB Version: 38.0.1
    Version of Virtual Identity: 0.9.32

    Thank you

I never had a reply back from the developer of virtual identity.

    However, I found a solution.

Enter the configuration editor and reset all the values found with the sent search pattern and then remove the account in question, restart thunderbird, then adding the account back.

Then, I went in again and sought configuration editor "sent".

I found the correct setting in the mail.identity.X.fcc_folder for the account, then copied this value in the mail.identity.defaut.fcc_folder

    Now everything works fine.

  • When I try to send an email to multiple recipients, I get this message: "there are non-ASCII characters in the local part of the address of the recipient. This is not

I bought a new computer. When I try to send an e-mail to multiple recipients, now, I get this message: "there are non-ASCII characters in the local part of the address of the recipient. It is not yet supported. If please change this address and try again. "I don't know what are the non-ASCII characters, so I don't know what to do. I never had this problem on my old computer. Please explain in simple language.

The 'local' part in the context of email addresses, the part to the left of the symbol @. The warning is a bit of a surprise, because in general the owner of a mail server is relatively free to specify the address format. There is a movement to allow the games to other characters to be used in the fields, so I'm a little disappointed to see that, apparently, e-mail does not support the latter in the local part yet or it can be your SMTP server that generates this message.

ASCII characters ("American Standard Code for Information Interchange") are, on the whole, the English alphabet, uppercase and lowercase, as well as figures, common punctuation and case of things like the asterisks, obliques and media bars, but not of accented characters. But even apparently simple things like spaces and dashes have cousins who, at first glance, appear to be identical, but are not represented in the ASCII system. I am thinking especially nonbreaking spaces, dash and half-quadratin.

But I don't know why your new computer must have caused these warnings.

  • Move emails into local folders only removes them from the Inbox folder

    Hello.

I use Thunderbird to check out and check all my mail for GMX.net. Since I want to only do this sporadically, I opted for the portable version (currently 31.4.0).) Download works very well and does move emails into local folders. However, when I checked the size of the Thunderbird folder, it seemed a bit heavy. Turns out that all mails were stored in two places - the Inbox folder of reception/mail (such as pop.gmx.net) AND in local folders (in separate files, reflecting the local folder names).

Is this a normal behavior, can I disable it and simply delete the Inbox file manually without break?

Here are the steps I followed:

    (1) create a local folder ('Hello')
    (2) ctrl + an Inbox in
    (3) right click, select move - local folders - 'Hello '.

A lot depends on how you configure your pop server
What to do with the deleted files and if keep you them on the server
and what you do on files properties

    And compact your folders

Go to the menu Tools (alt + T)... There is a new entry at the bottom called export-import. These menu entries allows you to import your old MBOX files. It's in the car. This isn't a Microsoft fixit to the automatic address file.

I'm willing to be that this is not a bug. Your antivirus can be hyperactive if.

First of all, try to open in safe mode:
Hold your shift down when you start Tbird. Don't make permanent changes. Click on continue in integrated security mode.

Right-click on the top border. You get an opportunity to activate the menu and mailtools? In the affirmative.

  • Can not save attachments in Windows Mail in Vista Local folders or subfolders

I have a new Vista 64 system and I have actually two problems.  First of all, I can't move old emails (more 2 G total) of my XP Outlook Express email on my old laptop in Vista 64 - bit Windows Mail on my new desktop.  Files folders and the content may be downloaded, but have not been recognized and installed by Win. Mail.  I talked to several computer technicians who could not find a solution except either to send the emails from old files individually or as a group to myself to my server (Yahoo more).  Is there a better solution?  Secondly, when I send my self a such email with multiple attachments and I try to save, I can't find a thread that will lead to my Windows Mail > local folders > Inbox >(folders and sub-folders).  Nor can I drag-and - drop these saved emails (they contain many different endings) to these files. Help, please.

    Hello Mmmaltby,

Thank you for using Microsoft Vista answers Forum!

A common method to transfer everything via is to use the Export command in Outlook Express to save all messages and contacts to separate files, copy them to the Vista PC and then use the option import (on the file menu) to import the data into Windows Mail.

How can I change the order of my 5 email accounts to my default at the top? Currently using any option to e-mail browser (Chrome Firfox IE) sends using one upstairs that is one that I never use.
