Location of snapshot?

I took a snapshot of photo on a document. I received a message that it has been copied successfully, however, I'm not. Where is the snapshot that has been saved? Thank you!

Hi michellemc1962,

He could have saved to the Clipboard. So, please paste into another application like paint, etc.

Kind regards

Take a look at Eric Sieberts Astuce: http://vmware-land.com/Vmware_Tips.html#ESX1

I'd tell that to use moderate of the snapshot. And 20 percent of free space on a volume of taking snapshots. Don't let not the snapshot is active for days and days, validation and use.

I'm pretty new to powershell and have met with this script (below) to collect information from snapshot. However, what the script does not do is give me the location of data store for each reported snapshot, or, the 'owner' of the snapshot based on the folder that the virtual machine is located in the CR. Has anyone out there collected this information before? Any suggestions are welcome. Thank you

  • How to create the snapshot to the remote data store?

check this, you can set a different location of snapshot: http://blog.vmpros.nl/2009/05/14/vmware-creating-snapshots-in-a-different-location-than-default-virtual-machine-directory-1002929/

  • Another instant storage location

    Hi experts,

We currently have a virtual environment with daily snapshots running on all virtual machines. I got two part question.

    1. where the snapshots are kept?

    2. is there a way to change the location of snapshots. At the end of the day, I want snapshots to be stored on a storage on its own device.

I don't know if that makes sense... :|

    Thank you!

    Kevin

As other posters mentioned, instant should only be retained as long as necessary.

    1. where the snapshots are kept?

By default snapshots are stored in the home folder of the virtual machine. No matter where you place the vmdk.

    2. is there a way to change the location of snapshots. At the end of the day, I want snapshots to be stored on a storage on its own device.

Yes, it is possible to set a different location (http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1002929), but I think you won't be happy with what you're trying to do. This is because the snapshots in VMware are chained with the base vmdk disk. In other words, during the race, a virtual machine with all the shadow copies are used by the virtual machine. Therefore, you must place the snapshots on the same storage preference. See http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1015180

I don't know if that makes sense... :|

I think that it is not.

  • VM with disks of different data warehouses. Snapshots on the same data store?

    Hello

We have several virtual machines with disks on different data stores for reasons RAID.

Last night, we found that the snapshots of all disks are left on the data store main vmx and not on each datastore disk.

How will we change this as our OS data warehouses are small and run out of space when running shadow copies?

    Thank you

    Frogbeef

You can change the location of snapshots, but they will all go to this place - as far as I know, you cannot change the location of each disk.

The KB http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1002929 explains how to do this.

  • Get a message from catastrophic failure with error 0x8000FFFF on backup code

Original title: I get a message of catastrophic failure.

Error code 0x8000FFFF while trying to backup files every time. What should I do about it?

    Hi granniewilsey,

This problem occurs because the backup process detects that the system drive is dirty.

Windows Vista backup always includes the system as part of the backup drive. If the system drive is dirty, the backup process skips the system drive, and no snapshot of the system drive is created. Therefore, the backup cannot locate a snapshot of the system drive later, and the error occurs.

To resolve this problem, run the disk check to fix the error on the system drive. To do this, follow the steps mentioned in the article below:

Error message when you try to perform a backup system on a Windows Vista-based computer: "catastrophic failure (0x8000FFFF)".
