Location of the .dll codec

Hello

Where can I find the CODEC files (for most .dll) that support Windows Media Player.
These are the files that you see if you do this:
Windows Media Player > help > about > Support information
I want to copy the missing files from my office laptop for my wife. It gets audio only. AVI files. I get Audio and video of the same files.
In both lists, I see differences, but I do not know where to copy those that she is missing.
Both computers have Win Vista SP 2 64 bit
Thank you

Thanks for the reply, Halima

I was able to determine the missing CODEC by comparing lists of codecs on both computers produced by:

Windows Media Player > help > about > Support information

However, I took the shotgun approach and downloaded

XviD - 1.2.2.07062009.exe of:

http://x-vid.org/download/?campaign=Google-PPC2

Now I get audio and video from the laptop on. AVI files

  • What is the right way to specify the location of the shared library in an a .lvlib function call library function node?

I'll have a bit of a problem with how to specify the location of library shared in a call library function node it is a VI that is part of a library of LV. Here's a little background which may help.

I do a lot of measures using spectrometers photo from several manufacturers.  Someone in my company developed a C DLL library, which provides a simple API for all the different spectrometers. To facilitate this DLL to use in LabVIEW, I wrote a .lvlib that wraps all the functions.  When I want to use the API, I simply include the .lvlib file in my project that allows me to drag and drop the wrapper s VI on my block diagram. When I created the .lvlib of VI, I specified the path in the call library node. /. * so it will always look in the local application to the DLL directory when I run.

The problem is, when I load demand, LabVIEW you asks for the location of the DLL even if it's just there in the local directory! I tried to put copies of the DLL in the directory with the .lvlib, but he still refuses to find the DLL loading.  What I am doing wrong?

You should in this simple case enter the full path to the DLL by navigating to it. If the DLL is on the same volume/drive that the VI containing the call library node LabVIEW will be internally store the relative path from the VI to the DLL (but still show the absolute path). If you move the DLL and screw together (so the relative location of the DLL to the VI remains the same) LabVIEW will always find the DLL.

I don't think that the lvlib would add nothing to that.

    Hey Carol,.

It would help if you could answer these questions.

-What version of Windows is installed on the computer?
-What antivirus software do you have on the computer?
-When you get this error? It is when the computer starts for the first time?

Here are a few troubleshooting steps that you can try to get the matter sorted.

First of all, if you have Mcafee AntiVirus installed on the computer, turn it off for awhile and see if the error. McUICnt.exe is a file that is

used by Mcafee and could be the reason for the error.
Note: Antivirus should be reactivated when you have completed troubleshooting. Computer with antivirus off is: exposed to the virus.

If Mcafee is not the cause, then try to do a scan complete antivirus on the computer in safe mode with networking using the Microsoft Safety Scanner

Make sure that the computer is virus-free.

    Safe mode with networking: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-in/windows7/start-your-computer-in-safe-mode

Note: the steps mentioned in the link applies to Windows vista and Windows 7.

    Hi EddieBryan,

    1. did you of recent changes on the computer?

    2. do you have security software installed on the computer?

    3. when exactly you receive the error message?

    Method 1
Check if the problem persists in safe mode and after return with the result.
A description of the options to start in Windows XP Mode
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/315222

    Method 2
If the problem does not persist in safe mode, then it is possible that some third-party programs installed on the computer is causing the problem.
I suggest that you configure the computer in a clean boot state and check if it helps.
To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows XP by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.
See section to learn more about how to clean boot.
How to configure Windows XP to start in a "clean boot" State
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/310353

Reset the computer to start as usual
When you are finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:
    1. click on Start , then click run.
    2. type msconfig , then click OK.
The System Configuration Utility dialog box appears.
    3. click on the general tab, click Normal Startup - load all services and device drivers and then click OK.
    4. When prompted, click on restart to restart the computer.

    Method 3

If the previous step fails then I suggest that scan you SFC on the computer that will search the corrupted system files and try to correct them.

The analysis may take some time, so be patient. Windows allows to fix corrupt or missing files it finds. If the information of the installation CD is required to fix the problem, you may be asked to insert your Windows XP installation CD.

Have you Spy Sweeper and uninstalled the software. It seems that other software can also use this driver.

You can delete the entry start and the error using Autoruns.

To identify what loads when you start using Autoruns (freeware from Microsoft).

With Autoruns, you can deselect an item which disables startup, or you can click with the right button on an item, then remove it. If you clear the check box that you can check back for re - activate the element. It is an approach much safer than editing the registry and better than using msconfig.

Another useful feature of the program is that you can click with the right button on an item and select search online to get information about the selected item.
