Location of the folder of InDesign assignments

We work in the InCopy workflow with a design off site group. Sometimes, we get reports that they are unable to repeat the indp files, we sent them to InCopy. Just so that we understand the process, we tried to reproduce what we think the problem may be. This led to a few questions from us on the process InDesign part. Here is what we have discovered so far.

If the InDesign file from which the package was issued InCopy is moved to another computer, the indp file establish links with the file copied. This is true even if the assignment folder InDesign is moved with the original InDesign file. Initially, the message appears:

The package file contains an assignment that does not exist in the 'filename.indd '. Your package file may be outdated or associated to another document. How do you want to continue? Browse to locate the appropriate document. or save the contents of the package to disk.

If you select Browse to locate... and if you select the copied file, a loop of results.

On this basis, it seems that the InCopy workflow recommends not to displaced the InDesign file and that the file transfer InDesign saved in the same folder as the InDesign file and not move. This is the recommended method?

For files InDesign that are moved, what is the workaround, if any, for the reissue of links the return indp file?

Terry

Rule 1: Never move the InDesign file. This workflow is for remote InCopy users not for remote users of InDesign and assumes the that remains in the same place, in that it was recorded the InDesign file.

If this has happened, you can change the file on the NHRIS to ZIP file extension (packages are only glorified ZIP files) and just unzip the file normally. Cancel the package and copy the InCopy stories on top currently linked files and update the InDesign file.

  • HW can I configure a synchronization of 2 channels with a network folder. HW set the location of the folder on my pc offline

    Hi, I tried to sync files between my laptop and a pc on the network. Am not able to set up a 2-way synchronization. In addition, not able to set the location of the folder offline on my laptop

    Hi Anand Singhania,

    Thank you for using the Microsoft Windows Vista Forums.

    In Windows, sync (short for synchronization) is the process of keeping files in two or more locations matched with each other.

    In two-way sync, files are copied in both directions, keeping files synchronized in two different places. Whenever you add, change, or delete a file in both locations, the same change occurs in the other sync location. It's okay if you have made the changes on a computer, a mobile device or a folder on a network server; the same changes will be made at both locations. Two-way synchronization is commonly used in work environments, where files are often updated in multiple locations and then synced with other locations.

    Where can I sync?

    Sync Center is the place to go to synchronize your computer with network folders, mobile devices and compatible programs. Sync Center can keep automatically your files and folders synchronized in different places.

    Open Sync Center by clicking the Start button, tap all programs, accessories, and then clicking on of Sync Center.

    Sync Center is a feature of Windows that allows you to keep information synchronized between your computer and files stored in folders on network servers. They are called offline files because you can access them even when your computer or the server is not connected to the network.

    For more information, see work with network files when you are offline.

  • Using PowerCli to display the location of the folder vcentre

    Hello

    I adjusted began using the Cli power today. I managed to get some info on the internet but I am of course to have a problem with the script im its simple but at this stage I don't know enough about it.

    Basically I want thescript to output to a csv file with the name of the Virtual Machine, Datastore, host and his VCentre folder location.

    Everything is be filled except the get-file colum who im hoping will indicate the location of the folder VCentre

    Get - VM | Select Name, @{N = 'Cluster'; {E = {Get-Cluster - VM $_}}, '
    @{N = "ESX host"; {E = {Get-VMHost - VM $_}}, '
    @{N = "VICont"; {E = {Get-file - VM $_}}, '
    @{N = "Datastore"; {E = {Get-Datastore - VM $_}} | `
    Export-Csv - NoTypeInformation C:\VM_CLuster_Host_Datastore1.csv

    Thank you very much

    Ryan

    With recursion a bit, you can go a long way

    Get-VM | Select-Object -property Name,
    @{N="Cluster";E={$_.VMhost.Parent}}, @{N="ESX Host";E={$_.VMHost}}, @{N="VICont";E={
      $nodes = @()
      $obj = $_.ExtensionData  while ($obj.Parent){
        $obj = Get-View $obj.Parent    if("Datacenters","vm" -notcontains $obj.Name){
          $nodes += $obj.Name    }
      }
      [string]::Join('/',$nodes[($nodes.Count - 1)..0])}},@{N="Datastore";E={Get-Datastore -VM $_}} |
    Export-Csv -NoTypeInformation C:\VM_CLuster_Host_Datastore1.csv

  • Search finds messages, but how do I know if the message is located in the folder?

    New to TB of Eudora. I love TB.

    Play with the search, both using the box in TB and Windows Search. Anyway, I get results - slightly different, but which are correct. But using both methods, when I found the message that interests me, I can't determine the TB folder in which the message is located. Is there a way to do this?

    Take a look on the space consumed by the mozmsg files, and then decide if windows search is really worth. I got rid of gigabytes of these files about 80 000 of them. I thought it was more that it was worth. What surprised me, it was that disable the windows search option did not remove the files.

    But to your question. When you have the returned list in front of you. In the Middle at the top, hidden from view, is the show as an option in the list. Once you have them in a list, you can click on the widget at the end of the header line and select the folder. (unfortunately it does not.)

    You'll love the search with Ctrl + Shift + F as well. Those who can be saved as "virtual folders".

  • Location of the folder to Windows Live Mail attachments

    Hello!

    I'm operating on your laptop abroad. The email client is Windows Live Mail.  I do not use it at home. People send me .doc attachments or.docx.  I don't have Office 2010 on this machine so need to open them in free Office or Open Office. I looked in AppData/Roaming and cannot find the .doc files.

    Thank you

    FJJWagner

    I just browsed to the folder where incoming .doc files are stored

    When you receive an e-mail message with an attachment, the "attachment" is just a block of code at the end of the message you want to read. In the upper part of the block will be a line of header Content-Type by saying the program which contains the code block. For a Word document, it will often be application/msword. You can see for yourself if you select the message in the message list, press Ctrl-F3. This will reveal all of the source of the message. Attachments will be inside; If you start at the bottom and scroll until you get a blank line, you will see the header for the attachment lines.

    The attachment does not become a file until you ask the client e-mail program to open it or save it to a file. Then, the program converts the code in the appropriate format - in this case, a Word document - and generates a file. If you have selected Save, the file will have the name you choose and be stored in the location you choose. To do this, in Windows Live Mail, right-click on the icon of the attachment in the message header area, and then select record under. You can accept the file name suggested if there is one, or enter a new name. Once registered, the attachment is a Word document as those you produce yourself and will be treated as such by any program that you use to open it.

    If you receive a message like this one in a Hotmail type account and read in your web browser, will give you the ability to view the attached document online, where you will be able to use an online version of Word to read, edit and save the document. • Problem with the change of location of the folder on the desktop (Windows 7)

    Hi all, I have windows 7 Home Premium and changed my location on the desktop of \desktop c:\users\ (user) on my drive d: since my c: drive was getting full (for that I click with the right button on the back of my office and I changed my location).  However, the system has simply dumped all my files and Office files in the root directory d:\, without creating a new folder on the desktop, which is what I thought was going to happen.

    To resolve this problem, I want to transfer all my files + folders office to a dedicated folder d:\desktop but found I can't since now there is now no desktop as folder! (catch-22).  I entered the \links c:\users\ (user) file and changed the objective of the Office in d:\desktop instead of d:\, but it has no effect! My office target is always the root directory. How can I change this?  I hope you can help!  David

    Go to libraries, do a right click on desktop, cut, and then paste it on the other drive. The wonders of windows 7 will automatically record anything he puts on the desktop for now :)

  • Cannot restore the location of the folder 'Video' drive system D

    Hello I have a little problem :( I have Windows 8, and I wanted to move some files from my OS drive (C :) on my unused data drive (d). My video library took plenty of room so I tried to move my video system folder by using the tab location in the properties and just selected the D drive. I understand now that should not have been done because all my files are gone and my drive (c :)) has not yet changed size. Now my video folder mimics the D drive, when I look at the properties now he says it's a Local disk. So when I went to the tab location again, and then clicked on "Restore Default" to C:\Users\Eva\Videos, an error appears and says: "unable to generate a list of regular subdirectories in 'D:\System Volume Information. Access is denied. "

    Is anyway to fix this issue? And that I lost all files in this folder for ever?

    Hi Evaliu,

    If you are able to see the videos folder available and if you get access denied, then I suggest you give permissions for the videos folder, and then check to see if you are able to move the files.

  • Impossible to browse the history files file located in the folder "Data".

    Just tried history file for the first time, using the external drive. Files are entered in a folder called 'data' which I can't navigate simply numbers in there is no files or folders. I can get the drive, if I know the file name, and it is located and displayed in read-only format. What is happening and why I can't navigate to files?

    The history of the files makes many many copies of files, so that you can navigate the versions of the files.  You have created a file on Monday, and you open the file and change it daily.  Today (Friday), you would have 5 version of this file, one for each day in the history of your file.  If browsing it in the folder of file is not possible or recommended, because of the way it stores data to enable this feature.

    To navigate through your backup history file, open the control panel of the file history (where you set the parameters), then click on "Restore personal files" on the top left.

  • How to specify the location of the folder on the user's desktop?

    I write a script that will be stored on a server that is shared and accessible via an action by several users. The script would eventually save pictures in a folder already created on their respective computers. This record would have the same name for everyone, but as each user access path would be different because of their usernames, how to make the backup location in the script just point to this folder on the desktop of users regardless of username?

    Edit: Wait, wouldn't be a matter of making something like this: "~/Desktop/StandardUpload/"?

    That's exactly it.  ~/Desktop/StandardUpload/ or whatever the path.  I use it all the time for my team scripts runs.   There are ways to get data from specific user name, but if you're not interested, it works perfectly

  • Location of the folder in the enterprise trust JavaScript environments?

    Hi all

    I use a folder that is privileged to execute a file save local to my machine. Works very well.

    However, to deploy my organization I create 50 of these directories on machines manually and then manage each file for each version of Acrobat (10.0,11.0,DC, etc.):

    C:\Users\[user]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Acrobat\Privileged\10.0\JavaScripts\

    Is there a simpler way to do inside of a company using variables environment, group policy or application deployment tool?

    Can C:\Users\[User]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Acrobat\Privileged\10.0\JavaScripts\ be changed to a central server location to the place?

    Thank you

    John

    There are two fixed locations that you can install to the JavaScripts folder level, the app and the user folder JavaScripts. Under Windows, the user folder should be created if it does not exist. The app folder should exist if Acrobat/Reader is installed. The two files are given by:

    app.getPath ("app", "javascript");

    app.getPath ("user", "javascript");

    So you may be able to use the app instead, but these are your options.
