Location of the rotation hostd.log files?
I'd appreciate it if someone could tell me the location of the files (old) hostd.log rotated on the host ESX5? hostd.log is located in/var/log, but I can't find the rotated logs.

Best location for the archived redo logs
Hello
I am OOF instructions and I want to make life for the DBA, that looks like my job easier.
So, as the title says what is the location of the "standard/Best Practice' for archived redo logs? particularly the dest_1 which is usually local on the same server
Thank you.
Hello
For you, I recommend the use of the Flash/fast recovery area.
Configuration of the archived of Redo Log locations
Oracle recommends that you use fast area recovery to an archive location, because the archived logs are managed automatically by the database. The file names generated for the newspapers archived in the fast recovery area correspond to Oracle managed files and are not determined by the parameter
LOG_ARCHIVE_FORMAT
. Whatever archiving scheme you choose, it is always advisable to create multiple copies of archived redo logs.Ref 1:

ESX 3.5 hostd.log files - log file creation failed!
Hi I am after some advice. I get an error message on the creation of the log file failed in virtual center when I am migrating or clone virtual machines. I looked at the error in the VMware KB and read the article on the search in the directory var/log for disk space problems. I found one of our esx servers 100% in the var/log directory. so I need to delete some files.
I can't remove it HOSTD.log old files are all around 5 mb in size and some have not been changed since a few months? Also is it possible to have a regular host job that updated or deletes old log files.
Any help would be grateful.
Thank you
Austin
Yes, you can delete these files - no problem.
There is also a knockout for this: freeing up space when the /var/ partition is full http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1005768

Location of the icon library XML file?
My installed version of LabVIEW 2015, full, SP1, does not glyphs/icons available, so I am trying to download the required files. I downloaded the zip file with success, but when I try to download the XML file, the link takes me to a page containing the raw code. When I copy, paste and save this code in an XML file, I get an error when I try to sync manually. Automatic synchronization will fail also.
Here's the location of the xml file that does not work after being cut and pasted: http://www.ni.com/swf/iconlib/icons_filtered.xml
Anyone know where I can find an XML file that will work?
Of course, if there is a better way to get my glyphs work, let me know.
Thank you.
So a number of things might happen. This computer has multiple users? Glyphs are installed for the user who installed LabVIEW, but nobody else. If you don't like this design, you should go vote for this idea.
http://forums.NI.com/T5/LabVIEW-idea-Exchange/shared-icon-editor-glyphs-directory/Idi-p/3253351
With respect to the glyph broken, updated tool, I have no idea. The stupid thing just never worked for me. OR even a standalone program once for the update of glyphs and it doesn't seem to work or else the other. To help with this, I have attached my glyphs and you can simply copy and past in your
\LabVIEW Data\Glphys folder. In addition to those that come with LabVIEW 2015 I also added a Hooovahh folder with many a library open icons and a few I did. After copying restart them LabVIEW and open the icon editor, then wait a few seconds while it lists the directory of icons. Given the time, I bet that someone could make a tool that synchronizes correctly, download and install the icons correctly, especially since I think that most of the icon editor is open source.

Name and location of the Windows 7 registry file.
Hello. I need the name and location of the file to registry Windows 7 so I can make sure to include it in my periodic backup.
What you need is an Image backup utility which will include the hives of the registry. A simple copy the reg file type backup will not work until you can restore Windows.
There are also backups in the folder C:\Windows\system32\config\regback.

How to get the JOINT-2 log file
Hi, we installed in the 6500 system JOINT-2 cat. Anyone know how to get the syslog JOINT-2 file? and how config to send the log to syslog server? I know that these two questions are quite simple, but I've yet to find answers.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
You can get the JOINT events to the CETS format. Using the Manager of IPS or other tool to collect these logs.

Hello
I have a small business server, which is run through a network with thousands of files on as drawings etc.I have an employee who I suspect may copy files to our server for small businesses and keeping them to use in/when he left the company, then potentially to poach customers.I was wondering if there was anyway to get a log file which files are copied to the server just so I can make sure that this happens?Thank you very much.Server gurus all spend time in the TechNet forums, could ask them better.

Redo log entries to the online redo log files
Hello
I'm a little confused about the redo log entries.
I learned that LGWR writes redo log entries in the SGA, in redo log files in the following situation:
-3 seconds after the last validation
-redo log buffer has 1 MB
-redo log buffer data 1/3
When I take a transaction and if I change the wrong data, I have to cancel this transaction BUT the right now,
What happens if the LGWR writes redo log disk entries?
Is the bad transaction committed at all times?

DML changes are "permanent" after that VALIDATION is issued.
When any COMMIT is issued, then changes can be undone.

Commit complete, although the current recovery log file online have been removed.
Even though I have deleted current online redo log file in the linux operating system (Linux of Oracle), when I hit 'commit' he says it committed "complete."
It's just for this princip? *: "if only when all redo records associated with a given transaction are safely drive in online newspapers is the user process notified that the transaction has been posted." *
I think that it can lead to data loss in some cases... I am using Oracle 11 g R2 on OEL (x 64)...
Can someone explain to me? I'm stuck in this situation...
PS: I don't have multiplexes current group ENT files...and these transactions are committed. It is in fact means that these transactions are not committed
WHAT!
In Oracle, if the transaction is committed - it is committed.I can't understand how the database allows users to validate transactions that are not actually written to the disc... is the concern of the operating system or the Oracle database?
Your understanding is wrong.
The newspaper is actually written to disk. This is the case. Even the name of the file is removed from the directory, the file is physically existing and can write. And all will be physically stored in the sectors of the disk HARD (or SSD).
However, if the file is deleted, which means that his name is no longer in the directory, next time, Oracle will try to open it (by name) will fail because it will not conclude it in dir.
This is why it is very important in this case do not stop at Oracle, but take the backup with RMAN and better to restore files deleted in OS using their inodes and the old names. -
switch after the hot backup log file
Hello world
Why should we change log file after the end of the backup command that is to say, after the end of the backup hot?
Why we should take a backup control files to database level, but not through operating system level that is to say, order cp?Why we should take a backup control files to database level, but not through operating system level that is to say, order cp?
If you're doing a cold backup, this is where you use cp.
But when the database is in place, controlfile is used and it is continuing to change the oracle process. Now the question is how to get the consistent image of the controlfile, here's where you their support at the database level (for example backup controlfile). When you do that level database, a snapshot file is created time and she is saved.

OK, I know this is not just a question of APEX, but is it possible that he can specify a starting location when you call the dialog box browse file?I don't think there is a possibility to change the leader element explore. It's a security issue.
