Is a file folder to lock/password?

Hello

Can I protect files or folders with a password?

Try FreeHideFolders which hides the file and requires a password for access 1 if someone has
namely that there is and its location and name and then they know the password. TIP - write
the password and keep it in several places including the House.

  • Lock the folder structure in Windows Explorer?

    Greetings,

I work in a large group of engineers to access the servers shared with complex file trees.  Using Windows 7, 8 and 10.

Is it possible to lock the file tree structure so that cases move?

It is not uncommon for a user to work quickly, accidentally retrieve a whole folder, move their mouse and drop it in a different location and not even realize that they had done.  There is a period of panic, wondering how a whole folder got deleted or moved followed relief when (if?) he is once again.

We must be able to lock a folder tree without affecting the access and permissions applied to these folders and files in them.

    Is it possible to do?

Ask users to work slowly and methodically doesn't seem to be an option :)

    Thank you

    Erik

Try to change the permissions on a file to see if you can find a way.  Right-click on any file, choose Properties, and then select the Security tab.  There are also advanced features.

  • How to lock a folder and at the same time enable backup software to access?

    Hello.
We have 10 systems in our office and an additional computer that acts as a backup server for the important files and folders. However, due to security issues, we want the whole (the inside which are backups) must be locked down and only accessible by providing authentication (e.g. a password). but the problem is that if I block the folder, the backup software may not work.
Is there a way around this so that whenever anyone attempts to access a file/folder from the server, it will have to enter a password (remember that it is access to the its system which is connected through lan server) and the same brand of time the work of backup software?

  • Windows 7 users / locked the folder my documents (junction point)

I use Windows 7 and have just loaded Microsoft Office on a new laptop computer and when I try to set as default file locations in "Word" it tells me that I can't access name / my users/user documents, when I look at the way it shows a lock on the file. I looked a few answers to this problem but do not understand.  There are two users on the laptop and everyone can see other files, but not their own, in other words when I am logged in, I can see other users ' users / folder my documents but not my own and vice versa. " The result is that when I try to save a document using "save under" it comes up with access denied to folder. I know that I can choose where I want to save my colleague he needs to record simply in his papers when she was on but not save must start looking for the complete path.

Location in C:\Users\registration by default defined \Documents.  Do not use the 'My documents' folder - it is a junction point and should not be modified or used by users in some way.

  • Locked user folder

I recently migrated an admin to a new account admin account, because the taskbar was faulty.

I deleted the old admin account and the old user folder, but now the new user folder has a lock on it and it doesn't allow me to rename.

I tried all the processes for appropriating a file or files by changing the permissions, but it is still blocked.

It's strange how it allows me to open the folder and containing files, but I can't rename it.

If I remove the tab reading ony it just comes back to read-only. I am currently the only user with an administrator account.

I deleted the old admin account and the old user folder, but now the new user folder has a lock on it and it doesn't allow me to rename.

-> No doubt, you are referring to your profile folder. Renaming you would cause massive problems. Don't even try!

I am currently the only user with an administrator account.

-> It's high-risk stuff. If something goes wrong with your single account, then you will be deeply distressed. You must create, test, and document a second admin account immediately.

  • How can I rename a LOCKED user folder

I want to rename a user folder in my computer that is locked. He was appointed by the computer shop where I bought my machine. When I tried to make a new folder and drag/copy all the files, the folder " AppData" can not be coppied. I want to just rename this user folder. It's like if I don't really own this machine I do not have access to all records, delete or rename it.

    Interesting,.

    What computer company?

I think that tiger direct has the full version of win-7 discs for about 150.00 U.S.

An administrator account must be able to remove other user accounts,

If this is not the case, contact the retailer.

  • How to hide or lock a favorite/bookmark folder?

I imported my bookmarks from Chrome folder, but it contains far too many bookmarks to sort/tidy, them (it contains other unorganized folders too) so I was wondering if there is a way to 'hide' or 'lock' the folder so it's always there in the bookmarks menu/unsorted bookmarks / whatever, but any of the bookmarks show when I search something in the address bar.

I know that you can disable suggestions for bookmarks, but I still want to use this feature.

The point is not to mark these bookmarks in bookmarks (library) Manager, but store them in a HTML file that you open in a Firefox tab, or possibly in the sidebar using a bookmark to open this file and have this option checked.

If you need access to a file or a folder that you have no rights, you must take ownership of that file or folder. When you do so, you replace the security permissions that were initially created for the file or folder.

    Prerequisites
    Log on as an administrator

You must be running Windows as an administrator to change permissions of a file or folder security. If the computer is your personal computer, you are probably already logged on with an administrator account. If the computer is part of a network at work, you may have to ask the system administrator for help. To verify that you are connected to Windows with a user account is an administrator on the computer, see the Microsoft Web site at the following address:

Start Windows XP Home Edition in safe mode

If you run Windows XP Home Edition, you must start the computer in safe mode, and then log on with an account with administrative rights in order to access the Security tab the Security tab access is necessary to change the security permissions. If you are running Windows XP Professional, you don't have to start the computer in safe mode. • Lock files and folders to be modified

I am running Windows Vista SP2 and at one point of the upgrade to 7 or 8 soon.

I just ripped all my music into files FLAC and drag them to a folder (not music) to my user account.  I use a few programs of music to listen to and do some batch conversion.  I know that some of these programs (iTunes) sometimes makes changes because it "thinks he knows better."  :)
Is there a way I can lock the folder so that nothing in it can be edited or deleted?
I backed everything up, but I prefer to make sure entire music library is read only in the case where I saw something.
    Thank you!

    Hi Pedro,

Thanks for posting this question in the Microsoft Community.

If I understand correctly, you want a way to lock files so that it can not be altered in any way.

There is no locking mechanism specific for records however if you configure your user account to control what users can or cannot do.

Go through the steps in the article and see if it helps.

Here is another article on the use of user account control.

Hope this information is helpful and let us know if you need more assistance. We will be happy to help you.

  • lock the files/folders to a location on the desktop?

I want to lock a folder to a location on the desktop and have it not move from there, IE (right click), (lock folder/file on the desktop). Is this possible?

ALSO is there any place to changes in demand/request/volunteer you want with Microsoft products?

    Thank you.

    Hello Ajwren51,

Unfortunately, there is no option to lock the desktop on the computer icons so that you will not be able to move their position. However, you have an option for icons to align icons in a particular position on the grid which will give you a possibility to save the backup.

    a. right click on a space empty on windows.

    b. click view, and then select icons to align it on the grid.

You can also give feedback on Microsoft products following the link below:

If you want to give suggestion only for Windows 7, you can send it by following the link below:

  • Remove the "lock" file sharing icon

I shared a folder on my desktop (Win 7) with the laptop (Win Vista) through a router. Now I want to remove the right click on the folder share > share > advance sharing > remove 'everyone' from the list. But a lock icon appears on the record (I think it means that nobody can be shared with this folder). How can I delete the icon as usual before "locking"?.

Yes, the padlock icon means that the folder is private nothing for you to see.  To avoid cluttering up the complete file with several icons of lock, the lock displays if this is the first folder level as private for yourself.  So if the parent folder was a lock, the folder below would not show the lock more because he has already known and assumed to be private.

If the short answer: set up a folder and set the folder parent to share with > draw and the lock will be move up to the next level.
