Hello Nickydwuk.  Well, it's a bit difficult to know exactly what is happening from your description, I assume you're raising steam when he asks?

If you are uncomfortable with the head on registry:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Installer

Check to see if there is a key named DisableMSI.  If there is, and the value 1 to zero.  If this isn't the case, something is blocking the installation.

Is the only program that you experience this problem with?  If Yes can you install the demo version on their website?   You can also right click on the Setup disk file and select "Run as Administrator" and see if that helps.  Let us know the results of these elements. • Call of duty Modern Warfare 2 error: the system administrator has set policies to prevent this installation.

    I have Windows Vista.

When you try to install COD MW2 disc, I get the following message is displayed:

The system administrator has set policies to prevent this installation.

Then it continues with the installation of the first disc perfectly, but the problem occurs with the second disc. When you are prompted to enter the second drive I do and he doesn't recognize. The drive doesn't look like it runs as if it is scanned intermittently. STEAM will freeze and (no response) as well as menu my computer and the DVD disk drive. So far, I can't find any solution to my problem.

I had the game earlier on the same pc but had to uninstall STEAM temporarily.

Any help would be appreciated! Thank you.

Thank you for your response. However I can't find the "local security policy" in administrative tools. Not sure if it's because of Vista.

However I managed to the second drive yesterday after many many attempts. It seemed to work when I changed the AutoPlay settings to open the folder and view the files. I have no idea why, but he was able to read the disc in this way, after a few attempts.

    Thanks anyway. :)

  • This installation is forbidden by system policy. Contact your system administrator

I'm trying to install the trial version of Corel Video Studio X 3 and unpack it, and then allows me to accept the terms and choose what I want installed (drive flash, updates, ect.). I click Next and it seems that it's starting, and then he said and stops: "this installation is forbidden by system policy. Contact your system administrator. Yes I am logged in as administrator.

I tried and it did not help:
    1. click on start in the taskbar Windows and then click Run.
    2. in the run window, type gpedit.msc and click OK.
    3. in the Group Policy window, access computer policy Local, then Configuration of the computer, then models of administration, and then Components Windows and Windows Installer.
    4. double-click on prohibit the non-administrateurs to apply the vendor signed updates.
    5. click on disabled and then click OK.

I also tried and it did not help either:
    1. click on start-> Control Panel
    2 open administrative tools
    3. open local security settings
    4. click on Software Restriction policies
    5. If no software restrictions are defined, click with the right button on the Software Restriction Policies node, and then select the new Software Restriction policy
    6 double-click on enforcement
    7. Select "All users except local Administrators"
    8. click on OK
    9 restart the machine

I too suddenly started to receive this message when you try to update Acrobat reader and AVG Antivirus. The solutions above not apply in my case since I have only 1 account user (Administrator) on my standalone PC running Win XP service pack 3

The problem seems to be related to the Windows Installer
"The system administrator has set policies to prevent this installation.
After much searching I found this solution that worked
    Start > run regedit
    Browse the registry for HKLM\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Installer
Create: DisableMSI       Type: Value REG_DWORD = 0 (0 should allow you to install it was originally 1)
(In my case the value had been established at 2 so I changed it to 0)

I hope this helps someone too...

  • Cannot install Google earth. Error in the administrator account: "your system administrator set policies against the installation of this program.

Original title: why not my Windows XP SP3 machine allows installation of any product from google?

I am running Windows XP SP3 and what-so-ever did not want to upgrade to Vista or Win7.
Now I try to install google earth, what is happening is the setup.exe for downloading google earth data, but will not perform the installation process.

I get an error message saying that "the installation failed, try again."
So I asked google if he could understand that out and they were no help, so I decided to use the administrator account on my computer to install it, what was interesting on this topic (and disturbing) was that after running the same setup.exe file, a different error came up saying that "your system administrator set policies against installing this program" (or something like that)
now, I checked everything in "Political system" under administrative options, but still no help.
    Can someone help me please?

Well, it seems that the program has been installed, it was not recognized as a program in one of the directories, I have just fallen on the directory with the program Google earth work. The directory was hidden in the ~ temp file deep inside the C:\ drive

    Hi Michel,.

    1. you are trying to install the French spelling checker software first?

If you had already installed the software in the past, then we recommend to uninstall the components available in the software and then try to install the software. To do this, try the following steps:

    o The System Restore tool

If the problem you are experiencing started occurring recently, you can use the System Restore tool. Using this tool, you can restore the computer to an earlier point in time. The tool using System Restore may not necessarily help you determine the problem. When you use system restore to restore the computer to a previous state, the programs and updates that you have installed are removed.

To restore the operating system to an earlier point in time, follow these steps:

    1. Click Start, type system restore in the search box, and then click System Restore in the list programs. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password or click on continue.

    2. in the System Restore dialog box, click on choose another restore point and then click Next.

    3. in the list of restore points, click a restore point created before you started having the problem, and then click Next.

    4. click on finish.

The computer restarts and system files and settings are back to the State they were in when the restore point was created.
