Look at a PDF output reports a wrong format
Background:
EBS11.5.10.2
level migration from solaris to linux apps - requires new tech battery installation.
Problem:
PDF reports generated from a competing application do not have the correct format. That is to say the newspaper is missing, boxes/column outlines are not print - only generic text output
The selection of the printer is noprint
On the solaris system source uses the noprint printer driver of hpl with arguments acroprint, which in turn call acroread - I think it's a method they use to convert pdf to postscript-oriented (I'm new to this system have therefore no history with her)
I'm not sure what to do to get the correct visualization for PDF files with the new linux installation. I tried different drivers for noprint, nothing has no effect. I tried to reproduce the acroprint set-up... same result. No matter what I change behind the scenes, the report view is exactly the same. All the text and all the missing formatting.
The report itself is configured to use the PDF_PORTRAIT style. I had to create this style in the new system, it's apparently a style custom - it is the only component scripts acroprint/acroread. I tried to imitate the configuration on Linux, but the old man has Acrobat 5. Acrobat is currently not acorprint script - it was can be personalized? Not sure again.
Bottom line, how can I get PDF to display as properly formatted? I'm not printing, only look at one... so do not know if I need to set up printing from blocks just to see?
I appreciate any help you can give. I have another similar thread... but I think I took it the wrong way, so I'll close this one.
Thank you
Lori
The problem has been resolved by a copy of the report of the source - this resolved that the rep-1800 and formatting has been corrected. Something must have happened to the file when the archive original was created to move the system. Thanks for all your help!

Call a BI of OAF editor report, then save the PDF output as a BLOB in the database
Hi all
I have a requirement to customize the iExpenses page.
I need to generate a PDF output with the detailed expenditures report when the user clicks on submit button to create an expense report.
I need to take this pdf file and attach it to the expense report itself (with attachments fnd)
I have an idea about creating a BEEP report and call it from the OFA.
Usually, we write the pdf to the outputstream and view the pdf in the browser / to the local machine.
Can someone send me some code examples to capture this pdf file and write back to the database as a BLOB.
Thanks in advance.
Arun...
You can do it in two phases. Get first the BI Publisher API part works so that it returns the PDF file in the browser. You can see how it is done here:
Once you have this work, your code will need to the pdf file in a stream of data that you can then write to a blob in a table. You can see an example of a blob in a table here:

I hope this helps.

FM 12 - imported blurry images but OK in PDF output
Does anyone know how to make the images inside my FM files look better? The images are 150dpi and seem perfectly fine when I convert them to PDF. I wish I had a better viewing of experience inside the FM. Can I change the settings on the computer, etc. for this problem? Thank you, in advance, for advice.
Photographic images to these parameters should go reasonably well in FM. However, if these are screenshots where you have some straight lines and text, then you use a wrong format. JPG compression is frozen and introduce artifacts (ringtone, shadows, fuzzies) around texts and straight or mixed borders. You use PNG for screenshots.

IM thinking I do something with the settings of the pen?
Thanks in advance!
No, PDF conversion gives no control on the CIO, it's an a time parameter in the document converter driver AutoVue

Looking for dynamic PDF (page-flipping) Viewer for my website
I wasn't sure if this or the PDF forum is a better place for this question, but...
I am looking for a PDF document for visitors to my website on a page that contains nothing but. Ideally, it would be an experience as dynamic as possible, with some animations-flipping of page (at least). As a virtual magazine.
I researched what could exist to help me there and found things like this and this.
Obviously, they are not all created equal and we could go crazy to try. So if someone has already been through this and can help a guy out, much appreciated. Ideally, I'm looking for something that obviously works very well on all devices, a smooth rather than entertainment in the staircase and allows the touch sliding (IE, iPad).
Doesn't have to be freeware (I'll pay if it's worth the hump), though of course free it better than non-free.
Thank you!
I used this solution a bit backwards: Turn.js: the page flip effect in HTML5
However, licensing is not clear for version 4. You may want to contact the developer about potential costs: blasten (Emmanuel Garcia) · GitHub

What is the best PDF output for a vector that can be opened on any vector program?
I m a vector problem with PDFs made with Illustrator (Ai CC 17).
When I send them to other designers or clients with an older version (CS5) that they can't open PDFs in artificial intelligence.
I thought Universal PDF and should work with ANY version of AI, as well as any version of ANY program there vector (Inkscape, Corel, etc.) ...
If it has to do with my output PDF Properties dialog box when save as PDF in my CC Ai?
-What I need: I want to be able to output my vector illustrations in a PDF format that is UNIVERSAL and can be opened and edited by everyone about what vector program, they have and even Word documents.
-Someone told me to deselect the option "preserve Illustrator editing capabilities" in the PDF output dialog box. It will be enough?
Please enlighten me
This kind of work falls into a category that should be editable in many applications of vector. But maybe not all in the same easy manner. And maybe not in other software such as Word.
More compatible file format is EPS (version 3). But this file format is a bit dated and indeed should not be used in modern workflows. So even if you enable some users, you turn off others.
Therefore, it is best to offer multiple formats. But even in this case, you will get all of your users.
You might want to delve deeper into other software formats and file if you want to get into this new.

Hi all
First of all my PC is Windows 7 operating system, Office 2010 and Adobe Acrobat Pro XI (v11.0.0). We use the Acrobat PDFMaker COM Add - In for Outlook for convert and add e-mail in PDF portfolios, because it brings together our emails in a relatively permanent format, even including attachments.
However there seems to be a problem with attachments 'image', are not included in the output PDF file after conversion. There is no problem for other file types. I tested .xlsx, .docx, .pdf, .msg attachments and all are included in the PDF output without problem. But the images (.jpg, .gif) simply do not come through at all.
If after you have created the PDF file I have manually save the attachments in the email and add them to the PDF add without problem. However they just do not appear as attachments in the PDF when using PDFMaker.
I hope that makes sense and would appreciate any assistance that can be provided.
Thanks for the suggestion, unfortunately it did not work either.
After reading this: http://community.spiceworks.com/topic/187419-adobe-acrobat-convert-email-to-pdf-issue, it seems that the problem is that our administrators have prohibited access to the Outlook security Temp folder which I assume is where are stored the image attachments.
Workaround proposed in this thread (by dragging the email on the desktop and the conversion from there) works very well so I would say this to someone else who has this problem.
Thanks for your help Rave & Bill.

Conversion of PDF to Excel and keep formatting
I'm trying to convert a PDF file to an Excel file.
I have just run the free trial of Adobe Acrobat X Pro (version 10.1.3) and opened a newly created PDF file.
I clicked on the following: file > save as > spreadsheet > Spreadsheet XML 2003 (having Office 2003).
When I opened the new XML file, the main topics appear horizontally across the worksheet. All the amounts mentioned appear vertically in column A. We want the dollar amounts to appear in the corresponding topics. How to preserve the formatting of the PDF?
It seems that if I will not be able to easily convert a PDF to a file using Adobe Acrobat X Pro Excel as advertised. Is this true?
Not true.
The question isn't Acrobat.
It is rather the PDF file (how content source has been mastered and created the PDF file).
Use an application with tag good management.
Examples: FrameMaker, InDesign, MS Word (with PDFMaker of Acrobat), MS Word 2010 (usng MS save as PDF - XPS, PDF accessible & making use of the user interface that promotes accessible PDF creation).
None are 100% (yet) for all aspects of a power of a PDF containing the well-trained tag. However, they are (currently) "best-of-breed".
In the file creation you would control a good table. Table header Row (s) must be correctly identified.
PDF output with label Table element must be properly post-processed with Acrobat (row Span value, the Scope attribute checked attribute header cells and, possibly, attribute Headers with the ID associated with the value).
With appropriate content mastering (of the particular table), management of tags and the post-processing array element, you'd have a PDF properly 'tagged '.
The contents of the table in the PDF containing the tag correctly labeled, can be exported to Excel with pretty cool results.
Well controlled in the file creating a table that is part of a non-tagged PDF file can be exported to Excel with fairly good results most of the time.
It's all in how content is controlled:
Example (one extreme, but it expresses the point):
Use of the space bar and Tab can give the appearance of a 'table' in Word or Notepad.
As with so much "perception" is not reality.
This content is simply "body text" tricked out to look like a table.
In the PDF file that content is "body text" and no correlation with tabular data.
There are a range of OMG yuck on Spot On.
What lands in Excel will reflect where the controlled content falls within this spectrum.
Variables are which was used to create the PDF file, which has been used for tags management (if any), how the content is placed in the file to create.
PDF files that are "worse" are often those that are created by programming via a server application.
What PDFLibrary is in use (they are not all equal) and how it is used.
Be well...

Need help with the output of the query formatting
Hello
Here are the scripts to create the table and create test data:
create table result (acct number(10), acct_nm varchar2(100), stage varchar2(10), target_pc number(10,2), long_target_pc number(10,2)) / Insert into RESULT (ACCT, ACCT_NM, STAGE, TARGET_PC, LONG_TARGET_PC) Values (47042, 'Dora the explorer', 'AFTER', 33.6, 48) / Insert into RESULT (ACCT, ACCT_NM, STAGE, TARGET_PC, LONG_TARGET_PC) Values (47042, 'Dora the explorer', 'BEFORE', 33.6, 48) / Insert into RESULT (ACCT, ACCT_NM, STAGE, TARGET_PC, LONG_TARGET_PC) Values (41142, 'Bob the Builder', 'AFTER', 9.18, 20.4) / Insert into RESULT (ACCT, ACCT_NM, STAGE, TARGET_PC, LONG_TARGET_PC) Values (41142, 'Bob the Builder', 'BEFORE', 9.18, 20.4) / Insert into RESULT (ACCT, ACCT_NM, STAGE, TARGET_PC, LONG_TARGET_PC) Values (41086, 'Sofia the first', 'AFTER', 17.96, 51.3) / Insert into RESULT (ACCT, ACCT_NM, STAGE, TARGET_PC, LONG_TARGET_PC) Values (41086, 'Sofia the first', 'BEFORE', 2.98, 8.5) / Insert into RESULT (ACCT, ACCT_NM, STAGE, TARGET_PC, LONG_TARGET_PC) Values (41086, 'Sofia the first', 'BEFORE', 14.98, 42.8) / COMMIT /
I need output in the following format when I query this table:
Account Account Name Stage Target PC Long Target PC 41086 Sofia the first BEFORE 2.98 8.5 14.98 42.8 AFTER 17.96 51.3 41142 Bob the Builder BEFORE 9.18 20.4 AFTER 9.18 20.4 47042 Dora the explorer BEFORE 33.6 48.0 AFTER 33.6 48.0 Total Accounts = 3
Here is what I tried but it does not gives me out I want (below referred to as the code):
spool c:\break_test.txt column acct format 9999999999 column acct_nm format a50 column stage format a15 column target_pc format 999.99 column long_target_pc format 999.99 break on acct, acct_nm, stage select * from result order by acct, stage desc

Please tell us how to get there.
Thanks in advance!
Go back and check the syntax of the PAUSE command.
SQL> column long_target_pc format 999.99 SQL> break on acct, acct_nm, stage SP2-0158: unknown BREAK option "acct_nm,"
The syntax must be
sql> break on acct on acct_nm on stage
