Looking for documentation PowerEdge 2950 III

The material does not match looking for PowerEdge 2950 III manual/documentation material... the documentation associated with the service tag.  Documentation that seems to be the 2950 base while the material is the version III with the - 7 marked 0 on the front disc.  More useful would be linked to the set, but if not, then at least the hardware manual.

I realize this is an older system... but I need to be able to show what parts I might need to get from Dell to keep it operational.

Sorry if this isn't the right forum to ask.  Thank you.

This is the link to the manuals PE2950 etc.  If there is a different version, I can't find it.

  • PowerEdge 2950 III w / Server2008 64 bit: cannot activate TOE

I recently purchased a PowerEdge 2950 III with standard options, which includes a double NetXtreme II Broadcom nic with TOE capabilities. Due to some communication problems, it was delivered without active TOE and the TOE installed key. I installed Windows Server 2008 64 bit on it.

After some time Dell send me a TOE key, and I off the server and installed it.

In the BIOS, it now says "able TOE." In the Dell OpenManage Server Administrator it said ' able TOE: available 'and' enable TOE: 'Yes. But in the Broadcom Control Suite to unload his abilities he doesn't list that the LSO and CO, PINCH.

    I have tried several things:

-J' ran "netsh interface tcp > set global chimney = on" to activate TOE

    -disabled the Windows Firewall

-remove the Broadcom drivers and reinstall them (the more recent on the Dell site)

    -installed the SNMP functionality

But I can't seem to make it work.

TOE benefits to the whole Server 2008? If so, what am I doing wrong?

  • PowerEdge 2950 iii E1410 CPU IERR

I just bought the parts for my new old dell poweredge 2950 I put the e5440s dual xeon inside and it gives me a cpu mismatch so I take cpu 1 and it starts very well (I also put cpu 1 in any other slot and it worked). When I just loaded CPU 1 that he would give me e1410 IERR I looked at the decision-making and 4 pins were bent moderately. If the bent PIN will cause this error.

  • PowerEdge 2950 iii installation

Hello. I am very new to servers, please so excuse me if this question has been answered before, I did a search but could not find anything.

    I just bought a Poweredge iii with 2 processors Xeon L54 PE2950 and 32 MB of RAM DDR2. There a perc 6 / i controller and 2 x 146 GB 2.5 "SAS drives. I also Microsoft SBS 2011, I need to install and another 2 x 1 terabyte SATA drives.

The problem I have is that I can't the server to recognize the additional SATA drives, it just doesn't 'see' them. I guess there is a setting in the BIOS but I can't find anything that makes all the difference.

If anyone can help that would be great, or if I can be pointed to a site that will guide me through the initial configuration process.

Thanks a lot waiting for your help.

PERC does NOT support RAID (pass-thru/JBOD), not so in the order of the discs to be presented to the OS, they must first be configured in a RAID array.  If you already have the operating system installed, you can use OMSA to configure.  Otherwise, you can do this in the CTRL-R utility.  Don't forget to select the advanced boxes and Initialize When you configure the.

  • Ask for help looking for Documentation

I want to emphasize an our servers to another FMS server and cannot find the documentation.

Thanks for your help with this.

Ann, my suggestion is that you search in the knowledge base of the foglight support as there was a lot of solutions/procedures already developed by the support for the tasks that you must implement.  I made a simple search for 'new server monitor' and I saw a lot of solutions.

You will also want to examine the documentation for cartridge of infrastructure for the monitoring of the servers (windows, unix, and linux) from an agent handler remote foglight to reduce Foglight agents having to run on a server.

  • PE 2950 III with ESXi free version?

I have a PowerEdge 2950 III server on the way and I want to launch the free VMWare ESXi version. I know that Dell makes their own version (paying) with the built-in drivers... Will the free version to be an option for me, or it will never work because the drivers needed/missing? Or maybe I just need to build my own ISO and integrate the drivers of 2950 in it?

I know that Dell made their own version (paying) with the built-in drivers

Version of Dell isn't a paid version.  It is also free; they have, as a service to their clients, customized to include drivers for most of their systems.  You can build your own by integrating the drivers into the image manually, but that would be stupid given it already exists and is made by someone who knows what they are doing.

  • 2950 III Raid hard disk requirements

Hi all, I have poweredge 2950 III with raid 5 and has 3 fujitsu hard drive in raid 5. Now, I want to add more hard drive to my raid 5 volume. What kind of hard drive is supported in raid 5 design?

I read it somewhere that it must be the same speed and size. So I intend to buy the same speed and size. But my question is can it be different model or brand? Other brand or model supported in raid 5 of design? Another brand or model can work, but I'm not interested to use it if it is not supported by design.

Please let me know if I need to add more information.

  • Compatible with Dell PowerEdge 2950 servers

We would like to expand our cluster of servers ESX 3.5 U4. Currently we have 2 servers PowerEdge 2950 III, with 3 GHz processors Intel XEON X 5450. Dell has removed this line, apparently with the R710, substitute containing XEON X 5570 2.93 GHz CPU. The R710 server would be compatible in a HA cluster with our existing PowerEdge 2950 III servers? We are concerned about being able to smoothly VMotion among all servers.

The R710 server would be compatible in a HA cluster with our existing PowerEdge 2950 III servers?

VMware HA can work well also with different type of processor.

We are concerned about being able to smoothly VMotion among all servers.

VMotion (as well as the DRS) to activate CVS of your cluster.

Create a new cluster, select CVS, put your new host R710 in this cluster, and then use VMotion to release a PE2950, put in maintenance mode and move it in EVC Cluster.

  • HARD disk for maximum support PowerEdge 2950

    Greetings,

I have server PowerEdge 2950 with Six internal hard drive bays. How many maximum capacity of hard drive taken in charge in one Bay?

Thanks for the reply and best regards.

If you use a PERC 5/6, 2 TB is the maximum size of physical disks - this is a hardware limitation, and there is no way to use anything larger than 2 TB.

If you use a SAS 5/6 in RAID mode, 2 TB is the maximum - it is a limitation of its limitation of RAID. I would never do that, but some said that grows to 2 TB will work on the SAS 5/6 in NON RAID (left unconfigured) mode.

  • Maximum storage capacity for PowerEdge 1950 III

    Hi guys,.

Just wondering this as the maximum capacity of hard drives that can take the PowerEdge 1950 III. Ive currently got a 300 GB 15 k Cheetah drive in Bay 0 but I want to change them for 2 tablespoons. I can do this, or must they be smaller. I read on some forums that it might take readers to 2x2TB but according to the technical data it can only take up to 2x750GB which would be disappointing.

If you need more information I can provide fortunately.

    Thank you
    Arron

Regardless of the controller you use, the maximum disk size is 2 TB. Do not use expensive desktop/laptop or NAS drives.
