  One of my web browsers is Firefox ESR 10.0.7 and is a PORTABLE of Firefox version that apparently needs a different Flash Player plugin that the plugin Flash Player normal requiring regular versions of most web browsers.

  I don't want to install the most recent PORTABLE Flash Player plugin version because I read about the problems with it and it is the only capable version this ESR Firefox will give me the opportunity to download and install when I try to install the plugin Flash Player necessary through the browser.

  I met the same problem with the version of portable Firefox, I've tried.  I found myself ignoring the record (with the text file) that they have provided and created my own folder 'plugins' alongside firefox executable.

  As to why I went with 10.3 11.4, it was mainly because we added in Flash Player 11.3 protected mode.  While this might work (it didn't on my first attempt), it adds a layer of complexity that I didn't want to face.  If you need some of the new features of 11.x, then you have to play with it to see if you can get this to work.  One thing to try would be to modify the mms.cfg by disabling the protected-mode, however, I do not know if this file is accessible outside your windows\system32\macromed\flash folder.

  You can apply to distribute Flash Player here Adobe Flash Player Distribution | Adobe.  You will then receive an email (with a link to the installation programs) and you can download the current version, either the version of ESR for distribution.

  My Flash drive has started breaking last night. I did a check on the update page and he said flash was outdated, so I've updated.   So, just earlier today I was doing just fine and then I went to go to Youtube and I received an error message "Warning: Plugin no longer - Shockwave Flash may be busy, or it may have stopped responding." You can stop the plugin now, or you can continue to see if the plugin is complete. "This error message has been coming since on any page that uses Flash player and sometimes causes Firefox to shut down completely.   Because it is a "plug-in" for your browser, it cannot reside on a different drive. It won't work. Since it is a plugin, it is part of your operating system, essentially, especially if you are using IE. The plugin is only 17.6 MB, so it does NOT take a lot of space on the drive in what's your concern.

  Additional information: I found myself just download Google Chrome (but don't like) and do not have the same problem.  So, it happens only when I'm doing all this on Internet Explorer 9.

• For Adobe Flash Player 12 Setup button does nothing in FF26

  The only option now on the Adobe site to download FP 12 is to click on the button 'Install '. In other words, is no longer an option for dl just an exe file and then run it to install the player.
  The Adobe page correctly recognizes I use FF and Win7 32 bit. But when I click on the 'Install' button, there is no activity of the installation. Instead, I get redirected to another location on the Adobe site, a generic page listing various Adobe sw IIRC.
