Lose packets using winpcap

Hello

I'm working on a LabVIEW application to view our telemetry data.
These data are sent over ethernet using UDP and has a payload of 1 332 bytes. The framerate is 6720 packets per second.

To work with this data rate I put sockets UDP receive exactly the size of the packets multiplied with the payload buffer ( http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/D5AC7E8AE545322D8625730100604F2D ). Increasing or decreasing the buffer will lead to errors and one or several packages will be lost.

However, I'm still a few packages.

Now, I tried to use the Ethernet Packet Sniffer example ( http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/epd/p/id/2660 ) and changed the Example.vi to verify our internal counter of packets in each package. I was happy to see that no packets were lost! But, after adding the VIs Sniffer to my request for loss of massive packets occurs. :-(

Then, I moved the acquisition work in the wrapper DLL. The function below is called with a 1 d of pre-initalized channels table. The allocation of memory in this way is done in LabVIEW.

/ * LabVIEW created typedefs * /.
typedef struct {}
dimSize of Int32;
LStrHandle LString [1];
} TD1;
typedef TD1 * TD1Hdl;

EXTERNC EXPORT int32 lvwpcap_read_n_packets (uInt32 pcap,
uInt32 * tv_sec;
uInt32 * tv_usec;
uInt32 * capture_len,.
TD1Hdl capture_data)
{
struct pcap_pkthdr * header;
const u_char * data;
Int32 array_size, string_size, i.;
Int32 retval = 1;
Int32 errors.
LStrHandle TempString;

Errors = 0;
ARRAY_SIZE = (* capture_data)-> dimSize;
TempString = (* capture_data)-> LString [0];
string_size = (* TempString)-> cnt;

* tv_sec = array_size;
* tv_usec = string_size;

for (i = 0; i< array_size;="" ++i)="">

retval = pcap_next_ex ((pcap_t *) OCAP & header, &data);)

If (retval > 0) {}
* tv_sec = header-> ts.tv_sec;
* tv_usec = header-> ts.tv_usec;
* capture_len = header-> Caron;

TempString = (* capture_data)-> LString [i];

avoid the expensive memory allocation.  assumes that the string is at least 64K
(or whatever it is we set the size max with our init call.
memcpy (LStrBuf(*TempString), data, header-> Caron);
}
else {}
i-- ; In the case of timeout right pointer to avoid skipping entries in the table
Errors ++;
If (error > = array_size) {}
Returns - 1;
}
}
}

* tv_usec = errors;
Return retval;
return errors;
}

The problem: I have also now lose packets! Not on every call to this function, but in a way regularly (in on every third call).
What am I, am I doing wrong to acquire say 800 packages at once without losing a single?

Is there anyone with the same problems using winpcap?

UDP packets are sent by our material and the PC is connected directly via a crossover cable.
I'm using LabVIEW 8.5 and WinPcap 4.1.2.

Thanks in advance for your reply,

Thilo

Paul has best suggestion at this point; loops parallel, combined with queues to create an architecture of producer/consumer.

For an example, see here.

In the upper loop of the example, you will place a UDP, or even reading your SUB_Collect_Data.vi. The output data would be placed in the queue.

The lower loop could extract something (your cluster TC Stream) and perform the FFT and UI updates.

The queue allows the decoupling of processing data acquisition. The top loop withdrew the UDP connection data without stopping to process or display data. The lower loop removed data out of your queue as fast it can run and perform your presentation FFT/AC.

Note that a queue is up to be exhausted of your system's memory. Using a queue does not relieve you of the treatment of data in some time, but it allows you to take greater advantage of the capabilities of LabVIEW parallel / multiprocessor.

Search the knowledge base and of producer/consumer forums and you will find many examples...

  • The most convenient airport in Bridge mode lose packets

    Hi all.

    I have an airport extreme with the version of firmware 7.7.7 (later at the time of this announcement). My modem ISP settings are blocked and it is already fixed to make routing/DHCP/Nat, so I use my airport extreme in Bridge mode to avoid the double NAT (it connects connects to the ISP with DHCP router).

    Both the ISP modem/router and Airport extreme are creating two different 'wifi networks", which belong to the same network (192.168.0.0).

    I can enter each of this Wifi network, obtain an IP address in both cases and start using the internet.

    However, when I use it on my ISP router, everything works perfectly, however, when I use it on the airport network, it fails from time to time.

    If I start ping an external IP address (e.g.: 8.8.8.8), I've never lost a packet on the network of the ISP router, but I lose packets often on the airport extreme network.

    Also, if I ping the ISP of the airport extreme network router I lose packets from time to time. Sometimes also vice versa. I never lose packets when ping the router whose network providing I'm connected to.

    All the settings on the airport extreme values by default (except that I created an additional network of 5 GHz).

    Can you give us some advice as how to solve the problem? I read somewhere that disable ipv6 connection sharing could solve the problem, but it didn't. Thanks in advance

    If you have the Ethernet cable from your ISP router that is connected to the "O" on the AirPort Extreme WAN port, unplug the cable and plug it into one of the three ports LAN <>- on the airport to see if this will help with the issue.

    However, if you have the Ethernet cable from the ISP router already connected to one of the LAN <>- port on the AirPort Extreme, then you'll need to reset the AirPort Extreme back to default settings and then set up again.

    If you have any further questions, the Airport extreme is defective and must be replaced.

  • pcap_loop() to winpcap function does not work in windows8 pro

    Hi all

    I have two windows machines 8, both are 32-bit computers. One is windows 8 and the other is windows 8 pro (version 6.2 Build: 9200).
    I run an application to capture the packets of winpcap. To do this I use dll like 'wpcap.dll, Packet.dll, pthreadVC.dll' and also 'npf.sys"pilot.
    Version of wpcap is "4.1.0.2980", I downloaded this dll from ' http://www.winpcap.org/ '.
    In windows 8 "pcap_loop()" pro machine function does not work, but in windows 8 OS base it works fine and I can able to capture the packets of winpcap.
    Everyone please help me solve this problem.
    I have already installed the update compatibility for windows 8 from 'http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2764462' in windows 8 pro machine, but it does not solve the issue.
    Thanks in advance.

  • In 41.0.1, YouTube uses more and more memory until crashing

    Since I was 41.0.1, playing videos on YouTube has become difficult. I disabled FlashBlock (who created his own problems), but now the HTML5 player loses memory - use increasing up to FF plant.

    There are a few extensions to turn your YouTube's HTML5 in Flash Player, but I don't think they work on embedded videos, so I don't know how useful they would be.

    To verify if this is a problem of compatibility with your software driver graphics card/chipset, you could try turning off hardware acceleration using Firefox?

    "3-bar" menu button (or tools) > Options > advanced

    In the mini ' General' tab, uncheck the box for "use hardware acceleration when available.

    This takes effect the next time you exit Firefox and start it again. Any difference?

    Because hardware acceleration improves the appearance of fonts and animations and gives your CPU a rest, you can check the website of your computer manufacturer to see if the graphics card/chipset driver updates are available for your system. This article suggests safe sites to do this: update your drivers graphics to use hardware acceleration and WebGL.

    Additionally, if you use video downloaders, try to disable the. YouTube could make a change that is the cause of a malfunction.

  • Can't use Camera Raw in LightRoom 4

    Below is a long dialogue that I just had with the Technical Support via Chat on access to Camera Raw directly from LightRoom 4.  The end result is that it cannot be done.  LightRoom 4 has its own section of the "Develop" and if you try to "change in: PhotoShop 6" RAW image will bypass Camera Raw and open directly in PhotoShop.»  Something that I was surprised and frustrated by.  I thought for sure I was missing somehting.

    I do not recommend buying LightRoom other than a way to "organize" our images.  I just use Bridgne and am able to open a Raw Canon "CR2" file directly in Camera Raw, and then after my settings directly in PhotoShop.  LightRoom has no layers, paths and channels, and a host of other wonderful adjustment / manipulation capabilities not found in LightRoom.

    So, if you're like me and you want to use Camera Raw before moving to PhotoShop then LightRoom won't succeed you.  I spent a lot of time thinking I must be missing something and then I contacted the Support by Chat and we went through change in %AppData%, which only leads to losing me all my preferences in PhotoShop!  A total waste of technician time and mine.

    I share the bottom of chat with you only to show you the ridiculous amount of time lost when the answer remains the same: YOU cannot ACCESS CAMERA RAW DIRECTLY ON LIGHTROOM 4

    Thank you for choosing Adobe. A representative will be with you shortly. Your estimated wait time is 0 minute (s) and 3 second (s) or more because there is 1 client (s) online in front of you.

    You are chatting with 'Gabby' now

    Nicole: Hello. Welcome to the Adobe Support.

    Nicole: Hi Fred!

    Fred: Hi there my friend. I try to use Lightroom 4, but frankly, am not happy with the way it handles RAW files.

    Fred: I can't open a RAW of Canon ".cr2" file directly in Camera Raw from LightRoom.

    Nicole: I received your request. I would like to please a moment to check your account and review the details of your request.

    Fred: Thank you. Also, I went through all the information I can find in the Menu "help" while up. Can't find a thing on LightRoom 4. I don't have this problem with Lightroom 3

    Fred: The RAW file that it references is "DNG".

    Nicole: I understand that you are unable to get a glimpse of cr2 raw images in Lightroom 4, I'm correct?

    Fred: No, I can listen to samples, but when I want to open the only choice that I gave is CS6. I can't open it in Camera Raw and he makes things a completely different and inappropriate to NIK Software plug.

    Nicole: Thank you for the confirmation.

    Fred: I know that I can change that in the 'preferences' in Lightroom 4 but I can not find Camera Raw to select choice.

    Nicole: I'll be happy to help you with this.

    Nicole: can I have the serial number of the product please?

    Fred: I just checked again and it is set to a plugin from NIK Software as an external software to open the file.

    Fred: Yes, I would like to get it for you.

    Nicole: Fred, I find the serial number in your Adobe account.

    Nicole: Once you connect to the Adobe account, click on 'My products' under the 'My products and services'.

    Nicole: You can locate the serial number that you have saved.

    Fred: OK, if you don't need now. He is not in a format that I can copy and paste.

    Fred: 116040070815784336099081

    Nicole: Since it was registered in your Adobe account, we can get the information from there.

    Nicole: Thank you for the serial number.

    Nicole: Fred, I wish to inform you that all believed change options, you will get in Lightroom Develop module.

    Fred: I hope that I copied it correctly, it is presented so small.

    Fred: OK, just a second.

    Fred: So, I go to "Develop" it will open in Camera Raw 7.01?

    Fred: Frankly, it's the reason why I was just using the bridge is due to the apparently lack of coherent link between 4 LightRoom and PhotoShop CS6.

    Nicole: I would like to inform you that you won't have the plug-ins for Lightroom camera gross. Given that Lightroom will not require a camera raw converter.

    Fred: At least I can open in Camera Raw and make the necessary adjustments and it will load in Photoshop.

    Fred: OK, so why when open a 'RAW' out of LightRoom image to go directly to the CS6 bypassing Camera Raw?

    Fred: Not allowing all the wonderful adaptation toos, particularly new in Camera Raw. I don't understand the disconnect.

    Nicole: Fred, do I know what product you're talking like 'CS6'?

    Fred: If I wanted to treat all of my images in LightRoom I would have not wasted my money on CS6. That makes sense?

    Fred: PhotoShop CS6

    Fred: Or PhotoShop 6 extended

    Nicole: Thank you for the information.

    Fred: Still, the question remains "why LightRoom 4 only recongize the DNG files and no other RAW file put in shape and not allow them to be opened in Camera Raw?"

    Fred: I'm not in a position to process my images in LightRoom 4. So, I want to identify and sort them. I want to process of Canon RAW files in Camera Raw and then move to PhotoShop Extended 6

    Fred: So what you tell me, is that I can't open a RAW file in LightRoom in Camera Raw. In simple terms.

    Nicole: Fred, I can understand your concern. Lightroom will not require a camera raw converter.

    Nicole: Can I have the name of the camera model you are talking about?

    Fred: Two camera models: EOS 5 d Mark II and EOS 60 d

    Nicole: Please so that I can check further and try to solve your problem.

    Nicole: . Thanks for the information.

    Fred: Both are listed as being supported by Adobe PhotoShop and Camera Raw. I found in my research.

    Nicole: Okay.

    Nicole: Please close all Adobe applications.

    Fred: I just want to go to LightRoom 4 directly to Camera Raw 7.01 and then 6 of PhotoShop Extended. Seems pretty simple and logical to me. Here again, I am not Adobe.

    Fred: All right, just a moment and I'll do it.

    Nicole: Click Start.

    Nicole: Fred, do I know what operating system you use?

    Fred: I'm working on Windows 7 64 bit OS.

    Fred: I closed all applications Adobe.

    Nicole: Thank you for the information.

    Nicole: Click Start.

    Nicole: Just type %appdata%\microsoft\windows\sendto in the search box and press the Enter key.

    Fred: Ok, Im pretty computer savy so just tell me where you're going.

    Nicole: Double click on the folder Adobe.

    Fred: Done

    Nicole: In this folder, you will have a record CameraRaw. Please rename the folder as CameraRawold.

    Fred: Done

    Nicole: In this folder, you will have a folder Adobe Photoshop CS6. Please rename the file as Adobe Photoshop CS6old

    Nicole: After you rename images, please close the page and try to open a raw file and let me know the exact result.

    Fred: Done

    Fred: Just a moment. I've renamed CameraRawold and Adobe6Old. I'll browse my external drive and click on a RAW file

    Nicole: Okay.

    Nicole: Let me know the status.

    Fred: Is the PhotoShop Extended opening 6

    Fred: can I change the properties of the file to open in another program, if that's where we're going.

    Fred: He also created an error which stated that he acknowledged a graphic software that is not completely supported and PhotoShop won't open normally.

    Fred: A little more time it opened in Camera Raw.

    Nicole: Fred, once more step you must realize that you got an error about graphics software.

    Nicole: Please try to work on the Camera Raw and let me know it works very well or not.

    Fred: And I have lost my presets.

    Fred: OK, where does that leave us?

    Fred: Regarding LightRoom 4?

    Nicole: Fred, you wanted to open raw images in camera raw in option instead of Photoshop CS6, right?

    Fred: Camera Raw seems to be well functiong.

    Nicole: Great!

    Nicole: Please close any Adobe application.

    Nicole: Re launch Photoshop and type CTRL + K.

    Nicole: Let me know once you're done.

    Fred: Check "CR2" off the dafault Canon files to open is with PhotoShop 6

    Fred: Ok, let me close them.

    Fred: OK, closed sir.

    Nicole: Please go to the performance tab.

    Fred: 'Tab performance' in what program?

    Nicole: Re launch Photoshop and type CTRL + K

    Nicole: A new window will appear "Préférence"

    Fred: Just for a second, it's opening. Thank you for help.

    Fred: I am now in the preferences box. Performance tab

    Nicole: You're welcome.

    Nicole: Correct.

    Fred: OK, I'm in the preferences

    Nicole: Please let me know graphics processor use is checked or unchecked.

    Fred: It is checked. I know that on this machine that the graphics processor is not fully supported due to lack of a separte video card

    Nicole: Okay. Please check once readers of chart are updated or not.

    Nicole: Fred, I hope that now you are able to open raw images in camera raw, you were talking about?

    Fred: Just for a second. Driver software is up-to-date.

    Fred: Let me open LightRoom 4 and see where it goes. Just a second.

    Nicole: Sure.

    Fred: Lightroom takes a long time to open now.

    Fred: Now I get the message that it does not.

    Fred: OK, it finally opened its doors. Just a second.

    Nicole: Okay.

    Nicole: Please let me know the result.

    Fred: In the room light when I select "Edit in PhotoShop 6" it goes straight to Photoshop 6 and not opening not Camera Raw. Yet.

    Fred: So, my friend. We are still in the initial question, and now I have to reload all my preferences lost due to the change in AppData. LOL!

    Fred: I guess I can organize all I Ant in LightRoom and always use Bridge to edit and work on my images.

    Fred: Sorry! Organize everything I want and still edit off bridge.

    Nicole: Fred, I'm sorry to inform you that when you open images from Lightroom it will require not the raw camera and also when you try to open the images in other software from Lightroom it will open directly in this software. Since Lightroom itself works as a camera raw in develop module.

    Nicole: However the other question, you had about open images in Camera raw when you try to open raw file is resolved, right?

    Fred: What a waste of money from my point of view. You lose the use of all of the 'RAW' data manipulation that is less destructive in Camera RAW then go directly in PhotoShop Extended 6 and manipulate what you need to do and save as a TIFF format or other.

    Fred: Waste of money Lightroom is

    Fred: I could always open the file directly in Camera Raw in Windows Explorer or bridge. That was never a problem.

    Fred: The problem is with LightRoom.

    Fred: I don

    Fred: I will not change my images in LightRoom.

    Nicole: I apologise for the inconvenience.

    Nicole: Fred, I'm sorry to inform you that you are unable to open images in camera via Lightroom raw mode.

    Fred: In LightRoom where are layers? The path? The channels? Where, if it please tell me why Adobe develop and sell LightRoom 4 or any product that has not benefited from the more sophisticated and refined choices given to you in Camera Raw and PhotoShop 6!

    Fred: LightRoom is a waste of money, unless you want to use it for that, so organize your images. Total waste! I'm really ticked thereon.

    Fred: It's a waste of my money, my time and effort to accomplish something that cannot be done from LightRoom.

    Fred: Correct! It does not use Camera Raw in LightRoom 4. I simply don't understand why we lost all this time brought changes to AppData requiring now I go back and undo the changes or reload all my preferences for PhotoShop 6

    Nicole: I apologize for the inconvenience.

    Fred: Tell me. Am I correct or am I missing something here?

    Fred: You've been very patient, very polite and searched on the question in depth than to have no result. You simply can not Camera Raw from LightRoom. End of discussion.

    Fred: I appreciate your sincere effort on my behalf and realize this isn't your fault. So, thanks to a sincere effort help me.

    Nicole: I'm sorry to inform you that Lightroom is a product where Camera raw will not require, it will preview the images as the ins plug in camera raw are under construction.

    Nicole: You're welcome.

    Fred: It would have saved you and me a lot of waste of time and effort to assert that you can't get Camera raw from LightRoom.

    Nicole: Fred, it was really nice talking with you.

    Nicole: Thank you contact Adobe. Good Bye.

    The develop module IS Camera Raw. Each control in ACR is identical in the develop module. ACR in Photoshop, at the base, is no longer necessary to interpret the adjustments in Lightroom. If you want to open the file in ACR, in Lightroom, choose Edit in Photoshop as a smart object. When you do this, you can double-click on the background layer to go to Camera Raw if you need to make further adjustments. I have not read your conversation, but from your description of your frustration it seems to me that you don't quite understand the relationship between Lightroom and Photoshop/ACR.

  • buffer size and sync with the cDAQ 9188 problems and Visual Basic

    Hi all, I have a cDAQ-9188 with 9235 for quarter bridge straing caliber acquisition module.

    I would appreciate help to understand how synchronization and buffer.

    I do not use LabView: I'm developing in Visual Basic, Visual Studio 2010.

    I developed my app of the NI AcqStrainSample example. What I found in the order is:

    -CreateStrainGageChannel

    -ConfigureSampleClock

    -create an AnalogMultiChannelReader

    and

    -Start the task

    There is a timer in the VB application, once the task begun, that triggers the playback feature. This function uses:

    -AnalogMultiChannelReader.ReadWaveform (- 1).

    I have no problem with CreateStrainGageChannel, I put 8 channels and other settings.

    Regarding the ConfigureSampleClock, I have some doubts. I want a continuous acquisition, then I put the internal rate, signal source 1000, continuous sample mode, I set the size buffer using the parameter "sampled by channel.

    What I wonder is:

    (1) can I put any kind of buffer size? That the limited hardware of the module (9235) or DAQ (9188)?

    (2) can I read the buffer, let's say, once per second and read all samples stored in it?

    (3) do I have to implement my own buffer for playback of data acquisition, or it is not necessary?

    (4) because I don't want to lose packets: y at - it a timestamp index or a package, I can use to check for this?

    Thank you very much for the help

    Hi Roberto-

    I will address each of your questions:

    (1) can I put any kind of buffer size? That the limited hardware of the module (9235) or DAQ (9188)?

    The samplesPerChannel parameter has different features according to the synchronization mode, you choose.  If you choose finished samples the parameter samplesPerChannel determines how many sample clocks to generate and also determines the exact size to use.  But if you use streaming samples, the samplesPerChannel and speed settings are used together to determine the size of the buffer, according to this excerpt from the reference help C DAQmx:

    Note that this buffer is a buffer software host-side.  There can be no impact on the material available on the cDAQ-9188 or NI 9235 buffers.  These devices each have relatively small equipment pads and their firmware and the Driver NOR-DAQmx driver software transfer data device to automatically host and the most effective way possible.  The buffer on the host side then holds the data until you call DAQmx Read or otherwise the input stream of service.

    (2) can I read the buffer, let's say, once per second and read all samples stored in it?

    Yes.  You would achieve this by choosing a DAQmx Read size equal to the inverse of the sampling frequency (during 1 second data) or a multiple of that of the other playback times.

    (3) do I have to implement my own buffer for playback of data acquisition, or it is not necessary?

    No, you should not need to implement your own stamp.  The DAQmx buffer on the host side will contain the data until you call the DAQmx Read function.  If you want to read from this buffer less frequently you should consider increasing its size to avoid the overflow of this buffer.  Which brings me to your next question...

    (4) because I don't want to lose packets: y at - it a timestamp index or a package, I can use to check for this?

    DAQmx will meet you if all packets are lost.  The default behavior is to stop the flow of data and present an error if the buffer of the side host DAQmx overflows (if, for example, your application does not pick up samples of this buffer at a rate equal or faster than they are acquired, on average).

    If, for any reason, you want to let DAQmx to ignore the conditions of saturation (perhaps, for example, if you want to sample continuously at a high rate but want only interested in retrieving the most recent subset of samples), you can use the DAQmxSetReadOverWrite property and set it to DAQmx_Val_OverwriteUnreadSamps.

    I hope this helps.

  • How to make a simultaneous wink of GigE cameras?

    I have 2 cameras of 780-54gm Basler Scout (monochrome GigE) I switch to 10 Hz. This pace is modest and the data rate that results is not particularly high. I would like to get images from two cameras of the same trigger pulse. I have an Intel Pro/1000 NIC and I use the driver NEITHER appears so as National Instruments GigE Vision adapter. When I use the Basler pylon Viewer (the software that comes with the camera), I see perfect images from two cameras at the same time at 10 Hz. This tells me that the network, map NETWORK and the drivers can handle the flow of data without problem. I have activated jumbo frames.

    When I try to acquire images in LabVIEW 8.6 with screws IMAQdx, however, that I meet problems. I can acquire every single camera, but I can't them both at the same time strictly. The images are taken through with horizontal black lines that appear and move erratically. I have attached a vi that shows the problem. I have set up and start the two acquisitions, then enter a while loop that reads images. If I do the sequential acquisition by starting and stop them inside the loop and ensuring that we stop before the other then I get quality images but they are not the same impulses to trigger, and start and stop of the acuisitions overload slows down things so that I can not get pictures of each trigger.

    My guess is that it is a problem with how LabVIEW is the memory management, resulting in corruption with simultaneous acquisition. Are there settings I can change to fix this problem? I've experimented with everything I knew (buffer numbers, etc.), but without success.

    Rich

    P.S. I posted this in the forum LabView a couple of days but got no response. Sorry if you see this twice.

    Richard,

    Looks like you just packet loss. You might associate a property node to request lost packages to confirm. The reason for that happening is that even if the way to two cameras data rate is less than the limit of the NETWORK card, each camera probably goes to the complete 1000Mbit bandwidth when it transfers each picture. When transfers of images overlap, sending you to 2000Mbit/s down a 1000Mbit pipe and lose packets.

    To resolve this issue, an easy way is to adjust the attributes of Acquisition-> Ethernet advanced-> attribute peak bandwidth used for both cameras 500Mbit. This should ensure that each camera never use more than half of the bandwidth. There are also other options such as sprawl of transfer times, but those who require more tuning you change other settings.

    I don't know why the Basler software shows this, although their lack of bandwidth might just be lower at the expense of additional latency to get the images.

    Hope this helps,
    Eric

  • create a firewall

    Hi all. Anyone know how to create a kind of firewall with LabVIEW? I want to block access to third party software for some of the ports and to manage and to forward the message on mine. I need to build some sort of a gateway/firewall. I have an NMS (network management system) and I don't want that NMS to deal with SNMP devices directly, but through my software.

    Thanks in advance

    Hi, this is the solution I got: use winpcap to capture SNMP packets and utility IPsec in windows to block incoming packets to reach my NMS. WinPcap still works despite the IPsec policy.

  • There is a maximum amount of hosts for Cisco SF300?

    Hello world

    I m using a Cisco (SRW224G4P) SF300 in my network and I m using Vlan´s.

    I m a lot of loss of packet´s in the network and the users are facing in the absence of performance.

    There are altogether seven switch´s in the network, 6 SF200 Cisco as 'access' switch´s and 1 Cisco SF300 as the 'core' switch.

    It has almost 170 devices connected to the network, mainly IP cameras, other devices are the DVR´s and the NVR´s, a server a certain stand-alone.

    Thing is I m, including the loss of packet´s, and I found this alarm in the SF300:

    2147480831 2012-Jul-06 13:14:45 % of IPFFT-W-SFFTREDYELLOW warning: IP SFFT Table Overflow, aggregated (1)

    2147480831 2012-Jul-06 13:14:45 % IPFFT-W-SFFTREDYELLOW WARNING: IP SFFT Table Overflow

    Some people say this switch (SF300) support´s only 100 guests and that s why I m get this alarm and lose packets.

    But I can't find the limit of host´s in the specification of the switch in any document from Cisco.

    Think you on this?

    There is a limit of 100 guests for this switch?

    Thanks in advance!

    Carlos

    Hi Calavalle, the module layer 3 can only the hardware switch 100 until it starts to change software. The switch can support up to 510 IP addresses but anything over 100 have wait performance degradation.

  • Linux: delete VNIC to host but keep the subnet

    I have two network cards for my host linux, vmnet1 and vmnet4. I would like to remove or deactivate permanently the vmnet4 interface, but still continue to use its subnet by guests.

    I used vmware - config.pl and set the networking on vmnet4 on 'none', but now the associated subnet is listed as "not available" in the Web Access.

    What are my options? I would like the host must have no route to the subnet and also lose packets it receives on vmnet4. I can do this manually or via a script, but I'd rather just remove the device.

    I read that it is possible to remove the interface without killing the subnet, but I've seen instructions for Windows.

    Take a look at this blog entry that I wrote, I think that it covers what you want to achieve - http://communities.vmware.com/blogs/guyrleech/2008/12/20/creating-isolated-hostonly-networks

  • Error #2048: Security sandbox Violation

    I worked on it for almost 2 days now, solid with no luck.  Depletion of each article and the suggestion that I ran across, then I hope that the community can help!  In my quest for an answer to this, I hope he can serve a dual purpose and become useful information for other developers is going in this direction.  For some, you can see the contents and figure TL; DR, but I'm hoping to answer any question that might otherwise span multiple messages.

    The goal is to use a socket "binary" for communication between a Flash application and a custom socket server I'm working.  I soon discovered that you must have a file "crossdomain.xml" to the Flash Application communicate via sockets.

    I develop on Windows 7 64 bits, using Flash Professional CS6, Microsoft Visual Studio 2012 and hosting under IIS.

    Eventually I plan on hosting the Application Flash crossdomain.xml on a remote server, but in order to develop what I wanted to try and keep everything on a single development computer.

    My political module Socket server receives the request for the Flash Application and returns the correct answer.

    Incoming packets using Debug-> Debug Movie--> in Flash Professional:

    GET HTTP/1.1 crossdomain.xml

    Accept: text/xml, application/xml, application/xhtml + xml, text/html; q = 0.9, text/plain; q = 0.8, text/css, image/png, image/jpeg, image/gif; q = 0.8, application/x-shockwave-flash, video/mp4; q = 0.9, flv-application/octet-stream; q = 0.8, video/x-flv; q = 0.7, audio/mp4, application/futuresplash, * / *; q = 0.5

    x-flash-version: 11,2,202,228

    User-Agent: Shockwave Flash

    Host: 127.0.0.1:843

    Incoming packets by using control-> test movie-> in the browser:

    Bag #1

    < policy-file-request / >

    Bag #2

    GET HTTP/1.1 crossdomain.xml

    Host: localhost:843

    Connection: keep-alive

    User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64) AppleWebKit/537,1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Safari/537,1 of Chrome/21.0.1180.89

    Accept: * / *.

    Accept-Encoding: gzip, deflate, sdch

    Accept-Language: en-US, en; q = 0.8

    Accept-Charset: ISO-8859-1, utf-8; q = 0.7, *; q = 0.3

    The response that is returned:

    <? XML version = "1.0"? >

    <! DOCTYPE cross-domain-policy SYSTEM "http://www.adobe.com/xml/dtds/cross-domain-policy.dtd" > ""

    < cross-domain-policy >

    < allow-access-from ports = "" * "domain =" * "/ >"

    < / cross-domain-policy >

    At first I wasn't sure if it worked, until I pulled a copy of a violin and looked at the packages being requested and returned.  Initially I had more entries, but as I read more the crossdomain.xml I discovered all the inputs excluded would be lacking at current values so I started to take them off to test crossdomain.xml configurations, that I've run across.

    Return all the XML content through the socket connection did not work, I found out later that I had to create a HTTP header and then add the XML content.

    I was able to confirm the Application Flash Professional CS6 received the crossdomain.xml when I was running the Application in Debug Mode (debug->-> Debug Movie in Flash Professional) and the generated output the following warning:

    Warning: 127.0.0.1 domain does not specify a meta-policy.  'Master only' default meta-policy for the application.  This configuration is deprecated.  See http://www.adobe.com/go/strict_policy_files to solve this problem.

    I know that this is easily fixed by simply using a file as crossdomain.xml:

    <? XML version = "1.0"? >

    < ! DOCTYPE cross-domain-policy SYSTEM "http://www.adobe.com/xml/dtds/cross-domain-policy.dtd" > ""

    < cross-domain-policy >

    < site permitted-cross-domain-policies of control = "master only" / >

    < allow-access-from ports = "" * "domain =" * "/ >"

    < / cross-domain-policy >

    Source ActionScript code:

    private void EstablishConnection(): void {}

    var sock: Socket;

    Security.allowDomain("*");

    Security.loadPolicyFile ("http://127.0.0.1:843 / crossdomain.xml" "");

    socks = new Socket();

    sock.addEventListener (Event.CLOSE, closeHandler);

    sock.addEventListener (Event.CONNECT, connectHandler);

    sock.addEventListener (IOErrorEvent.IO_ERROR, ioErrorHandler);

    sock.addEventListener (SecurityErrorEvent.SECURITY_ERROR, securityErrorHandler);

    sock.addEventListener (ProgressEvent.SOCKET_DATA, socketDataHandler);

    sock.connect ("http://127.0.0.1", 8080 ");

    }

    private void closeHandler(event:Event):void {}

    trace ("closeHandler:" + event);

    }

    private void connectHandler(event:Event):void {}

    trace ("connectHandler:" + event);

    }

    private void ioErrorHandler(event:IOErrorEvent):void {}

    trace ("ioErrorHandler:" + event);

    }

    private void securityErrorHandler(event:SecurityErrorEvent):void {}

    trace ("securityErrorHandler:" + event);

    }

    private void socketDataHandler(event:ProgressEvent):void {}

    trace ("socketDataHandler:" + event);

    }

    When I run the Flash Application in debug mode, the following content is displayed in the output window:

    ioErrorHandler: [IOErrorEvent type = "ioError" bubbles = false cancelable = false eventPhase = 2 text = "error #2031: error Socket."] ["URL: http://127.0.0.1"]

    Warning: 127.0.0.1 domain does not specify a meta-policy.  'Master only' default meta-policy for the application.  This configuration is deprecated.  See http://www.adobe.com/go/strict_policy_files to solve this problem.

    securityErrorHandler: [SecurityErrorEvent type = "securityError" bubbles = false cancelable = false eventPhase = 2 text = "" error #2048: security sandbox violation: file:///C|/Source/FlashCS6/AS101.swf cannot load data from http://127.0.0.1:8080. ""]

    [UnloadSWF] C:\Source\FlashCS6\AS101.swf

    Debug the session is over.

    The "ioErrorHandler" is almost instantaneous on the output, while the "securityErrorHandler" takes maybe 10 to 15 seconds before it takes place.  I understand that this is due to the asynchronous nature of the Flash engine.

    When I'm not in the code in the debugger, I noticed that the request to load the policy file does not run as long as the Application is really trying to connect to the defined URL and port.  I think that might be the cause, but not sure.

    In an effort to make this work, I have:

    • Added the SWF and the project file to the global security settings
    • Publication parameters changed in the 'network access only '.
    • added " " http://127.0.0.1 "for Global security settings "
    • Under publication settings, enabled "permit debugging".
    • Adding the inbound and outbound rules in the firewall of Windows 7 to TCP 8080
    • Tried several configurations of crossdomain.xml
    • Check the rules of the "mms.cfg" to ensure that there is no blockage
    • Characteristics of record created and activated in 'mm.cfg', but the log files generated nothing more than what already appeared in Flash Pro CS6 exit window
    • '127.0.0.1' changed 'localhost', get the same results

    On the note of global security settings, I discovered that there are 2 separate places.

    • If you press 'Ctrl + Enter' and right-click your Flash application, "global security settings" here a dialog box of windows with the options that you can configure
    • There is another which is located at the following ADDRESS

    http://www.Macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager04.htm l #117502

    Do you need to put them both?  I did, in order to solve this.  I guess one comes into play on your local workstation and the other is based on the web only.

    I ran across some references to the Type of sandbox, which could cause potential problems of this kind.  In the trace, until the socket connections are made, I traced the current Type of the Sandbox and it was "localTrusted".

    Another article talked about using your public IP address from your ISP, instead of localhost or 127.0.0.1, but it defeats the purpose of local development.

    I know that the socket communication works on the workstation local, based on 2 trials.  The first being the LoadPolicyFile is run on a socket request and the second being, I tested the Server Socket with a non - Flash Client App communication.

    I am now at a loss and stuck in the mud.  Any help appreciated, and I hope it sheds some light to others going down this same road.

    Thank you.

    Well, the system is not perfect, but it does not work once you lubricate all moving parts with the right oil. =)

    I started by using a sample of Microsoft for asynchronous Server Socket to create a Client and a server, confirming that the system has worked.

    Link: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/fx6588te.aspx

    To try to solve this problem, I discovered a policy + socket server written in java.  It's not pretty, but they have a warning on the page saying it is extremely poorly written, but it works.

    Link: http://efreedom.com/Question/1-2951030/AS3-Java-Socket-Connection-Live-Flash-Local-Java

    I had nothing to lose, so I created a restore point, installed the Java SDK and the Eclipse IDE for Java EE Developers.  Created a new project and hacked the sample to match the ports I used and hit 'Play', out of the Flash project and he displayed in a browser.  For the first time, I've witnessed events fire off to connect and close.  In shock now. Laughing out loud.

    After some trial and error with my server, I discovered what needed to change.  The first had to do with how being constituted "AddressFamily.  The order of the day was change the IP for IPEndPoint from a source of an AddressList object (see example of Microsoft) to "IPAddress.Any.  The last item was a bit strange, because the server did not seem to pick up all new connections until I set the listener with MaxConnections.

    Here is a screenshot of the final c# code where the changes have been made.

    IPHostEntry ipHostInfo = null;

    IPEndPoint localEndPoint = null;

    Try

    {

    ipHostInfo = Dns.GetHostEntry (Dns.GetHostName ());

    localEndPoint = new IPEndPoint (IPAddress.Any, _Port);

    _SocketListener = new Socket (localEndPoint.Address.AddressFamily, SocketType.Stream, ProtocolType.Tcp);

    _SocketListener.bind (localEndPoint);

    _SocketListener.listen ((int) SocketOptionName.MaxConnections);

    ...

    It seems relatively simple, but all it takes is 1 config parameter incorrectly and the sails of server at a different level than where the Flash works.

    I founded the NPS server off the coast of the same design.  What I don't understand, is despite the design original not to recognize the connections on the server of a Flash, Flash application policy still caught crossdomain profile that was sent back across port 843.  The content is only available in the engine (a local file does not exist) and I was able to validate this function changes on the crossdomain content sent through and re - compile and restart the server for testing, I did.

    Error #2048 resulted from the Socket server not accepting the connection or to be available for connections.  Once I set the policy server that I was always getting error #2048 until I corrected the Socket server connections.  Initially, I had put a HTTP header to the content of the packet sent with the cross-domain policy, but later I deleted and only send the XML contents now.

    The design I had in mind of all work now.  Multiple connections and communication in real time via sockets.  I have no need for video or audio streaming, data only.  I hope this info helps anyone else who may face the same challenges.

    See you soon!

  • HP Stream 13: How could I install Windows 10 on HP Stream 13 (32 GB SSD)

    I wanted to install windows on my Stream 13 (only 32 GB SSD) 10. With the recovery partition and windows plus 8.1 all updates, I was left with not enough space to install Windows 10.  After a few failures, I could do this job and this is how.

    My solution to the problem. This does not mean that an easier can turn up, but it's the only thing that worked for me.

    * Compleate a soft recovery to create under the proper name of a facility as posible

    * Install all updates

    * use the media creation tool to create a USB key for installation.

    https://www.Microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/Windows10

    * On another USB port, I created a copy of the system recovery (because my goal was to remove the recovery partition after installing windows 10 and save some much needed space)

    * Click on the installation program on the USB port of the media creation tool (won't start him this time and run a complete installation or windows will not recognize your key to 8.1). Follow the instructions for updating your pc.

    *Somewhere here they told me that I didn't have enough space on my computer but gave a possibility to select an additional disk or USB to compleate the upgrade. I used my microSD but had the ability to use a USB key as well.  Just plug one with enough space, refresh and select the one you want.

    * Once done I was running an enhanced version of windows 10. and everything was fine.

    Now, at this point my hardware was recognized for Windows 10 and I can reinstall everything that I want.

    * Personally at this point I didn't paertition of 8 recovery of windows 7 GB just sitting there.

    * I now ran the key USB made by the authoring tool of media to run a full clean install Windows 10. During this process, I was able to format the C: drive and but also the partition recovery (but not remove it yet) there are a lot of youtube videos on how to run this clean install with step by step help.

    * Once windows 10 was upward, I used DISKPART to delete the recovery partition and then went back in to disk management to extend the primary partition to fill the empty space on the SSD.  There are still a lot of great videos and messages on how to run disk management and DISKPART. Sounds rough but was very simple and very fast.

    * Finally ran all updates and followed a little HP guide on how to make sure you have all the correct drivers GP and go on a Clean install. near the bottom, you will see measures to be taken after the upgrade to windows 10

    * Now, DON'T WASTE this recovery USB you tool fact because that can always get back you to the factory settings.

    http://h20565.www2.HP.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?sp4ts.Oid=5071171 & docid = emr_na-c04734799 & docLocale...

    Sorry if this is not clear, but when I tried to make it work, I could nto find anything with the measures to be taken and I ended up having to use USB recovery system I did over and over again to start over.

    EDIT: I'm HP 13 Stream that came with 8.1 have things hard drive is not large enough to compleate the upgrade to windows 10. So I preformed a clean install to a USB port.  Now, I have 10 and it is not enabled.

    NOW, I've read that you MUSST preform the upgrade first, so that windows detects your hardware and list it as valis for windows free 10.   BUT given that the upgrade was not posible I have a key windows 8.1 which is useless since there is no service to change the key of a key of windows 10...   This is crazy. These laptops are in advertisd with the free upgrade to windows 10 but fail to be upgraded.  Don't know what to do now.

    I'm running a new touchscreen HP 13 stream with windows 8.1

    I want to upgrade to windows 10 before I got home (before that I have to install all kinds of software and files) Obciously the flow isn't enough SSD remains to perform the upgrade.  I created a new USB thumb drive installation but worry about its use.

    What I read the recovery partition which is not suppressible contains files that accesses the system. When I do a clean install, wipe the C drive (but not the partition) everything works? I will never lose the use of this space in the partition?

    and finally, I used a program access to my windows key since it is located in the bios, not on a label, but I would like to know if someone else did and it does automatically detect? or they have run any potential problems.  Sorry if this is posted elsewhere, but I don't find any information at all.

    EDIT!   I have a USB recovery that I can use if I have to for windows 8.1 I installed 10 from a USB Pendrive and it is another well workign now is say my KEY is invalid for this clean install. How to convert my 8.1 key a key that works for 10? I can't buy a new key from microsoft when the laptop was sold with an ad saying free updated for 10.   It is not posible to do an upgrade due to the space required for the upgrade to do its job. It is a real pain.

    Well, looks as if I found a solution to the problem. Posted all the above in an editing tool. Hope this helps someone
