  • Outlook Express in the "compact" XP files I lost all messages in folders to recycle as per the BAK doc

Frequently, Outlook Express 6 wants to "compact" file. I welcomed that this and this time lost all messages in the folders of Outlook Express. They appear in recycle as per the BAK how doc do to restore the trash by the Doc to the folders in Outlook Express?  Also, how can I preclule this loss in the future?

    Thank you

Two reasons the most common for what you describe is disruption of the compacting process, (never touch anything until it's finished), or bloated folders. More about that below.

Why OE insists on compacting folders when I close it? :

    Recovery methods:

If you use XP/SP2 or SP3, and are fully patched, then you should have a backup of your dbx files in the Recycle Bin (or possibly the message store), copied as bak files.

To restore a folder bak on the message store folder, first find the location of the message store.

Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.

In Windows XP, the .dbx files are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in the Solution Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder options | View.

Close OE and in Windows Explorer, click on the dbx to the file missing or empty file, then drag it to the desktop. It can be deleted later once you have successfully restored the bak file. Minimize the message store.

Open OE and, if the folder is missing, create a folder with the * exact * same name as the bak file you want to restore but without the .bak. For example: If the file is Saved.bak, the new folder should be named saved. Open the new folder, and then close OE. If the folder is there, but just empty, continue to the next step.

First of all, check if there is a bak file already in the message. If there is, and you have removed the dbx file, go ahead and rename it in dbx.

If it is not already in the message, open the trash and do a right-click on the file bak for the folder in question and click on restore. Open the message store up and replace the .bak by .dbx file extension. Close the message store and open OE. Messages must be in the folder.

If messages are restored successfully, you can go ahead and delete the old dbx file that you moved to the desktop.

If you have not then bak copies of your dbx files in the Recycle Bin:

DBXpress run in extract disc Mode is the best chance to recover messages:

    And see:

A general warning to help avoid this in the future:

Do not archive mail in default OE folders. They finally are damaged. Create your own folders defined by the user for mail storage and move your mail to them. Empty the deleted items folder regularly. Keep user created folders under 300 MB, and also empty as is possible to default folders.

Disable analysis in your e-mail anti-virus program. It is a redundant layer of protection that devours the CPUs, slows down sending and receiving and causes a multitude of problems such as time-outs, account setting changes and has even been responsible for the loss of messages. Your up-to-date A / V program will continue to protect you sufficiently. For more information, see:

  • Windows Mail is deleting all messages from my Inbox

Earlier today, my Windows Mail used to have over 1000 emails in my Inbox. Tonight, I noticed that almost all of the emails in my Inbox were deleted.  If I navigate to another e-mail folder and return to the Inbox of messages more get erased.  The missing e-mails are not appearing in the file delete either.

What caused my e-mails from 1000 to clear all of a sudden?  How can I recover my 1000 mails and how this fixed a bug?

    Thank you.

    Try this:

Go to your Inbox > view > current view > check show all Messages.

  • 6 iPhone lost all messages upgrade to 9.3.2,and any way to recover

Updated my Iphone 6 and 4th gen ipad to 9.3.2 and lost all emails, is it possible to recover?

Restore the backups you made before the updates. If the accounts were IMAP or Exchange accounts, mail is on the server. Simply remove and reinstall the accounts. If it comes to a POP account and the post has been deleted from the server, they are gone, if you do not have a backup.

  • I lost all my Articles from Inbox in OE6.

I followed the procedure of the bak of my file recylcl file recovery and restored according to the guidelines. The folder is empty, so I open OE. When I close and return to my identity in Solution Explorer, a new Inbox.dbx file was created with 75 kb. The Inbox.dbx file that I restored is also there with his 186 000 Ko. What is happening and what I can do. I was on a long trip for work and just downloaded all of these emails on the earthlink server and do not have a chance to still put them in the appropriate folders.

No idea what happened to your messages to disappear? It is usually hinder the process of compaction or leave the files become too large.

The size of a file does not always represent the actual size. See, however, if you have restored it correctly. Note especially on deleting the dbx file before you rename a bak file.

  • I move all messages in the Inbox with a ruler, but inbox is always marked (blue) as containing unread messages.

I have several e-mail accounts on servers external that I feed to a local folder "Incoming" with a rule for everyone, "Move incoming message to the local folder". It works to my satisfaction, emties server Inbox and keeps everything on the spot.

The "Inbox" of a server is marked "BOLD" blue as if it contains unread messages, but it is empty. If I open the empty Inbox, unread indication goes away.

This server is POP, others are IMAP.

  • Erased all messages in my Inbox except 1 that I can't remove. ERR mess says disk is full, but I can't compact bec he told one another process is running

An old message is stuck in my Inbox. No matter what I do it not delete and I can no longer receive email on this computer because I get this message: there is not enough disk space to download new messages. Try to delete old messages, empty the deleted folder and compacting of your e-mail folders, and then try again. I erased my delete and send files and greatly reduced my folders, but the same situation applies. I tried to compact manually, but then I get the message that it can not compact as another process is running. However, on my iphone, or on another computer, I can still get an email update.

try to take the file offline Thunderbird (Alt + F) menu > offline > workoffline
    Close Thunderbird
    Restart your computer
Restart Thunderbird and try compacting while Thunderbird is still offline.

  • Windows 8 Mail tile not show all messages in the Inbox

Hi, when I enter my Windows Live email via the Windows 8 tiles (on the start page of Windows 8) mail a lot of my email seems to have been deleted (not by me).

When I went to the web address Outlook.com & signed this way, my emails all seem to be there.

However, when I click again on the Mail tile on the start page of Windows 8, the missing e-mails are always all the missing - IE. seem to be deleted (and not by me).

I don't want to keep going to Outlook.com web address just to check my email when there is a tile from Windows Mail on Windows 8 start page.

So can you me how Windows 8 Mail tile to show all emails that are in there?

Change the e-mail app settings. The e-mail application only shows the most recent part of your story by email (especially for the performance and storage issues, I think). Go to the charm of settings and change it to what you want.

  • All the messages in my Inbox display a response message has been sent, even if no message has been returned. How can I fix it?

    Hello

I had set up a POP3 to my gmail account when I was away from the office to set up an office off so when I got home, because I is more necessary than this account and it was causing some problems for me, I deleted it. I think that's when the question began that I describe in the subject line: all messages in my Inbox display a response message has been sent, even if no message has been returned.

Is there a way to fix this?

A side-question: I used the POP3 account to respond to some emails so I was missing and since deleting that account, I can not longer see these details... message there at - it a way to recover these?

    Thank you!

  • CRNT FF: 1 of 5 emails lost all my messages on viewing but shows the amount of mails are there. Search can find them all, just will not appear in the Inbox

1 of 5 email ACCOUNTS receive mail OK, but as soon as you leave this account and that you come back, nothing appears in the Inbox. The status bar shows however, that there are 32 emails it even if the Inbox is devoid of any text.

Using Search, I can find ALL 32 emails by searching for a word in the subject field or the body fields. The mails ARE there! They just do not display in the Inbox.

Then... How the hell can I get the Inbox to display its content again?

It worked until the day before yesterday when I read an e-mail from a reliable source and it automatically disappeared, along with all others in the Inbox. All other accounts are working very well.

I tried creating a new email account but it wouldn't let me, giving me an error that the "incoming already exists". No number or anything; it come when I click DONE in the creation process. The new account will not write to the disk.

I ran NOrton, AVG, MalWare Bytes, Windows Defender, Spybot AV and the other that I forgot the name of that time. ALL showed nothing found after each live scan success. I'm reasonable sure, I have no malicious software.

Emails from this account are quite important, and I don't want to lose them if possible; they are for a Committee planning the 50th high-school reunion.

Windows 7 HP, Dell XPS L702, 6 Gig of RAM, Intel i7 processor and lots of disk space. I've also compacted without change. The messages are all still there, but nothing shows in my Inbox; It is empty. I only see them using Find Messages from words I know are in them.

Happy to provide any other info needed to evaluate this. Oh, the account Sends OK too; it's a POP3 account setup.

Any help would be most appreciated!

All my incoming emails arrive in two different folders in Inbox; both are using my unique email account; How can I delete one of them?

    Thank you very much

    Rob

It is here that your do not get everything you want.

Either redirect all messages in local folders as I've mentioned, and in the process lose the address named one. (you can change the name of the local folders, you do.)

Or get used to having two lots of records.

  • I get multiple copies of all the messages in my Inbox

    SP email: exmail.qq.com
whenever I check my mail with thunderbird (POP3) all mails in the inbox server are downloaded again.
I tried all the suggestionn of the form (removal of the index by removing the date file, unchecking leav on the area of the server).
colleagues who use outlook have a checkbox for the problem ("do not download multuple copy a mail). I don't see the equivalent in TB.

Your "popstate.dat" file keeps track of what it downloaded, so that when it connects with the server and look in the server Inbox, do not download anything that was previously downloaded.

In your case, you kept old messages previously downloaded to the Inbox server and the popstate.dat confused is to see them as needing to be downloaded.

This means that the 'popstate, dat' file must be corrupted - gone awol - because it keeps downloading e-mails previously downloaded.

You need to access your profile folders and delete the file "popstate.dat".

The profile folders are hidden folders.

make visible the hidden files and folders:

    access profile folder:

    In thunderbird:

       Help > Troubleshooting Information
       click on 'Show Folder'
a new window opens showing your Profile Folder.
Close Thunderbird now - this is important

       Click on 'Mail' folder
       click on 'mail account name'
look for 'popstate.dat' file and delete it.

       close the window.

       Open Thunderbird.

    What this will do?

When you restart Thunderbird, it will create a new file "popstate.dat". The disadvantage is that it. As he is not aware of what has been downloaded, it will download everything that is on the server Inbox, but only once.

The positive point is the following. This should fix the file popstate.dat and prevent additional downloads previously downloaded mail.

You will then need to remove duplicates that have been previously downloaded. There is an addon that you could use to help with duplicates.

See image for where the popstate.dat file is located.
