Lost capacity of 40 GB HDD

I just bought a laptop Fujitisu AH512 with Windows 8. I was check hard disk capacities when I noticed that the drive C (the disk with the OS on it) was almost full. This diving capability is 75 GB, I checked in the files and I calculated that they amounted to 30 GB. My question is that I do not see the remaining 40 GB, I checked and the drive has no partitions and 15 GB is reserved for safe recovery. Can someone advise on how I can find the loss of capacity?

Thank you

You should check your swap file.  I am attaching a link to a video showing you how do it.  My file is 16 GB and it does not appear when you go to the allocation of disk or drive properties.

I'm sorry to hear about this. Several other people have reported this problem, I answered with a workaround suggested by one of them in this thread.

Please follow here, it would be useful if you have any other details (OS version, exact TB version) and if you could confirm that the workaround is valid.

  • lost capacity?

I'm going blind or robohelp was losing the ability to make a copy of the hlp file built in a different directory, somewhere between 2002 and x 5?

Hi dave.r and I guess that I have to say: Welcome to our community. Sorry I forgot who.

Wow, I actually pulled up to my copy of RoboHelp for Word check it!

Well, note that at the bottom of your RoboHelp application, you see a folder called "Single Source Layouts". If you right click a page layout, you have the ability to reproduce. To copy the output to multiple locations, you now have several copies of the page layout. The properties of each of the patterns, you can specify different folders and file names.

Now comes the fun part. You click on file > batch produce... and just place check marks next to the desired layout. Once you select all the masks that you want, you click the Generate button and you leave.

There is one thing that I am not totally sure about that. If you generate multiple copies of the same provision, but just to different folders, I think you're actually compiling the. HLP two or more times, while in the old paradigm, it is more efficient, as you simply compiled only once and copied to the desired folders.

Now, if you really want to, you should be able to accomplish the compilation copy once a lot simply by creating your own batch file to do most of the breeding.

  • Satellite L755 restarts without warning

HI, my Toshiba Satellite L755 is 2.5 years old running windows 7 home 64 bit. The OEM battery had lost capacity over the 3 months. One day, the closed laptop.

Put on again, I learned the replacement battery sign in the lower left corner with the capacity of being shown around 45% remaining battery. In the coming weeks, it started happening more often. To restart once a day at first, he went to restart every few hours. The battery capacity is increased from 45 about 20%, so I decided to remove the battery and work on AC.

It worked well for a few days, but then one night the dreaded restart has begun. Initially, it was only once a day. Now, a week later, my system restarts every 3 or 4 hours. Upon restart, the screen displays windows stops unexpectedly, and if I want to start windows in safe mode or normally. When I select normally, sometimes, the laptop runs checkdisk.

Because of this annoying problem, I ended up also damage my 500 GB Toshiba canvio EHDD as I format the laptop restarts unexpectedly.

    Help, please

For me that's not easy to tell if these reboots are related to electronic food and I can't say with certainty why this happens. In General, you should be able to use your laptop without any problems by using only the AC adapter. I have the same situation with my old Satellite A300 and there is no problem at all.

This sudden shut-off valve is a little suspect to me, and maybe it's that some unwanted hardware. I see two possible reasons for this: either is completely cut power or laptop turns off due to another reason which can be overheating.

When you take a look on LED panel when this happens, can you notice that there is no DC in LED?

    Hello
ICH have a Satellite Pro 2100 with a capacity of 40 GB HDD. Now I want wo upgrate with a 100 GB or 120 GB HARD drive. Is it supported? Where is the upper limit of the capacity of support? Is there something I need to look out? Are there special attributes that am I looking for?

prior to thank you for your support

    Hello

It is very unlikely that the 100 or 120 GB HARD drive works.
I guess that the BIOS will not recognize these hard disks.
I don't officials documents found on the hard drives supported, but I think that the 60 GB HARD drive is the biggest HARD drive that works on the Satellite Pro 2100.

  • Install the new disk on Tecra M2

    Hello

I have a laptop Tecra M2 HARD drive abandoned a year ago and served in a drawer since I'm keen to get it up and running again, but wonder if I should buy a HDD that is specific to use in it and what is involved?

My interpretation of it is that it's an IDE HDD that is needed, any 2.5 "IDE HDD off ebay will work or do I need to buy a specific brand, because they are not all in the United Kingdom listed for the M2.

If a generic IDE HDD will work in the laptop (like this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/HITACHI-30GB-IDE-ATA-PATA-2-5-LAPTOP-HARD-DRIVE-HDD_W0QQitemZ320332706439QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Com puting_HardDrives_RL? hash = item320332706439 & _trksid =p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1300|66%3A4|65%3A12|3 9% 3 a 1 | 3A 1318 240%) are additional media required or should he just fit into the laptop?

Then, once I inserted the HARD drive in the laptop computer and turned on, is there anything else necessary or should just be able to get to the top and running with a disc o/s?

Thank you very much in advance for your help.

    Hello

You are right. Tecra M2 must 2.5 IDE HARD drive and you can use it on eBay, but if you must buy new HARD drive I recommend buying the HARD disk with the largest capacity supported. Tecra HDD supports 30 GB HARD drive; 40 GB; 60 GB; 80 GB capacity.

Tecra M2 is cute laptop and if you want to use it for a longer period of time buy 80 GB and be happy. You will have enough space to save a lot of different data.

  • How to create the image that was stored on the HARD drive

    Hello

When I fixed my windows, I chose "Restore Factory Setting" options.
This happens to reformat my hard drive and I lose the "TOSHIBA HDD Recovery" image.

Is it possible to create this image again?

Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hello

The use of the Toshiba HDD image would format the HARD drive, but should not remove the Toshiba HDD image files that are stored on the second partition!
That's why I put t know why you said you lost the image of Toshiba HDD.
    That is a little strange.

On the other hand, you can try to create the recovery disk using tool of preinstalled Toshiba Toshiba recovery disc Creator called.
This tool helps you to create the recovery disk using Toshiba image files stored on the second partition.
I think you should try this.

  • Fusion drive does not start?

    • MacBook Pro mid-2009
    • Running OS X Yosemite
    • 320 GB internal HARD drive
    • replaced the optical drive with 240 GB SSD
    • replace the 4 GB of RAM with 8 GB of RAM

After the replacement of my optical drive with an SSD, I booted the laptop and checked the disk - it showed up as a normal external drive. I then, in accordance with the guide to formatting a drive of Fusion (combined capacity of the two HDD and SSD), found here, booted the laptop into recovery mode at the entrance to the commands in the terminal. the commands I entered were the following sequence

    diskutil list

diskutil cs create disk1s2 disk0 [ArbitraryName]

diskutil createVolume [UUID here] jhfs cs + [ArbitraryDriveName] 100%

After that, my records indicated were over 240 GB SSD and Macintosh HD 320 GB but Fusion drive 560 GB - I thought: Hey! great, it worked... However, when I restored it to my time machine to the top of my 3 TB external hard drive, which took a few hours, I was met with the error gray screen instead of a login screen.

I have my time machine to the top, so im not worried about my data, but when I was able to boot into recovery mode (when it is connected to 3 TB external HD) I deleted the Fusion drive and tried to reinstall a new OS from Yosemite, but of course this returns the same error as before starting. This leads me to believe something is damaged with the fusion drive, maybe its lack of OS startup, but would not restore or reinstall OS to solve this problem? I ran a diagnostic on the drive of fusion are deleted and it gave me the error code of output 8. I will update with a screenshot of the Terminal

What can I do to cancel my fusion drive and try to start over again?

any help would be greatly appreciated...

I don't know about you, but I thought that the HARD disk must be placed in the Bay of optics and the SSD drive in the HARD drive Bay where the original HARD drive is.

So, have you tried to reverse the readers in the bays (SSD in a drive Bay HARD and HARD drive in the Bay optical) and recreate your Fusion drive and then either restore or install OS X?

  • Temperature and loss of the T30 memory bank

    Background

I recently had a failure of the cooling fan in my T30.  The machine probably ran and hour or two without supervision before the failure was discovered and the computer turns off.  The fan has been repaired, re-installed and works very well.  In the process, I installed TPFanControl and acquired a knowledge of the temperatures in the system.  I am currently trying the T30 BIOS or intelligent control fan.  The times seem to have an acceptable margin anyway.

    The problem

I installed 2 x 512 MB of RAM in March.  Memory showed only 1 GB and worked well.

Shortly after the repair of fan, I noticed that my machine has apparently suffered the infamous Bank of MEMORY loss.

I am inclined to think that the Bank was induced by the temperature.

Another piece of information General, probably unrelated, is that I have lost and replaced my original HDD a month before the fan has failed.  Replacement and installation of the operating system was smooth.  I have had no opportunity to watch RAM at this time, so I can't say with certainty, that it's still OK then.  I can't see how this is relevant, but it would not let to the.

    Bottom Line

I strongly suggest the users to install TPFanControl.  Monitor time to all less and even better control the fan with a reasonable set of limits compatible with your type of operation.  It can save you a card failure.

Now I have to figure out what to do.  Someone at - he found a single 1 GB stick that would work on one side?

Replacement motherboard is not financially attractive.  If I have to, I'll live with 512 MB.

PS I installed RightMark too.  Works well for my type of use.  Nice little program.

Any laptop PC2100/2700 stick of 1 GB RAM will work, no problem.

You can also search for a company called Hammerhead Technologies, they offer repair RAM slot.

    Good luck.

  • Incorrect Windows 7 install

Hello, I recently lost a laptop 500 GB HDD to the extreme corruption and bought & installed a new 750 GB one.

I have a genuine (OEM) copy of Windows Home Premium. I have (my father) to create two partitions on the Windows installation disc the * internal * (new) hard drive and installed Windows 7 on the first partition. It was a pure Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 install.

Then I copied an Image of Windows backup on the second partition and tried to use it to restore my PC to a previous functional State without reinstalling everything whole. It worked (several times) with my previous HARD disk. Unfortunately, during this process I had a disk external DRIVE attached via USB and for a reason, even if Windows has identified the OS installed on C: (1st partition * internal * HARD drive), she chose to extract the Windows Image to my * external * HARD drive.

I now have a drive external HARD wiped, partitioned with a former operating system installed on it. I just lost about 850 GB of valuable data. I have no idea why this has happened and I was warned not to this one, and I'm darn aged more losing intensely personal and important files. I want to know:

A: in detail, WHY it happened, and

B: If there is anything I can do to recover the lost data.

The player not yet affected or written to since the incident. It has a 100 MB system partition, a 2 GB 99,71 partition where Win7 is installed and a 3rd 365,95 GB partition which is empty. The 465,75 left GB are unallocated. In this terabyte of data is all of my information loss.

Is there anything I can do to recover this? I would have preferred detailed instructions, but it is not really necessary. I want to just be pointed in the right direction. I have a few boot record tools, but I've never done this before, and I'm afraid to do worse, IE overwrite data that remains.

I am also very angry that this was happening as there was no warning, and leaving a disk external DRIVE to your PC is a fairly benign thing, casual to do. I don't think it would be a problem; I have not yet noticed it until I realized it was erased and partitioned. Are there safe tools and complete I can use to get * some * loss of data without making it worse? Are there Windows-specific tools - for example D-A-R-T, that I can use?

Please someone answer. It was unexpected and really struck a great blow to me. Some of this information was very personal and do not exist anywhere else. I have to go to a professional?

Thank you for reading if you got this day.

    Hello

Please provide detailed information on this issue. I apologize for the inconvenience caused to you.

Unfortunately, you should have connected the HARD drive external and restored/extract from the image of the second partition instead of copy and paste the image to the top.

  • Windows 8 clean install from the recovery partition

Hello, I just purcased a new computer, last week. It contains a copy of the widows 8. I just got a new ssd 240 GB and I want to do a clean install of windows 8 opperating system not a ghost copy. I do not have a windows disk with my computer but I have a recovery partition on my current hard drive. How can I get windows to reinstall on my new ssd with only the recovery partition?

Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hello

A primary role of a set of recovery disks is to rebuild a machine after the failure of his HARD drive, in Exchange for a bigger HARD drive (capacity)) or Exchange a HDD with a SSD. I do not see why we cannot use the game in this case.

The script works fine, but I still need to load the data into Excel and manipulate manually until the data can be used with other scripts. I wonder if there is a way to eliminate this manual work?

Specifically, for each computer virtual, the script determines the number of hard drives and returns the following for each disk

    1. HDDx name
    2. HDDx data store
    3. Path of HDDx (file and hard in the data store name)
