Fusion drive does not start?

  • MacBook Pro mid-2009
  • Running OS X Yosemite
  • 320 GB internal HARD drive
  • replaced the optical drive with 240 GB SSD
  • replace the 4 GB of RAM with 8 GB of RAM

After the replacement of my optical drive with an SSD, I booted the laptop and checked the disk - it showed up as a normal external drive. I then, in accordance with the guide to formatting a drive of Fusion (combined capacity of the two HDD and SSD), found here, booted the laptop into recovery mode at the entrance to the commands in the terminal. the commands I entered were the following sequence

diskutil list

diskutil cs create disk1s2 disk0 [ArbitraryName]

diskutil createVolume [UUID here] jhfs cs + [ArbitraryDriveName] 100%

After that, my records indicated were over 240 GB SSD and Macintosh HD 320 GB but Fusion drive 560 GB - I thought: Hey! great, it worked... However, when I restored it to my time machine to the top of my 3 TB external hard drive, which took a few hours, I was met with the error gray screen instead of a login screen.

I have my time machine to the top, so im not worried about my data, but when I was able to boot into recovery mode (when it is connected to 3 TB external HD) I deleted the Fusion drive and tried to reinstall a new OS from Yosemite, but of course this returns the same error as before starting. This leads me to believe something is damaged with the fusion drive, maybe its lack of OS startup, but would not restore or reinstall OS to solve this problem? I ran a diagnostic on the drive of fusion are deleted and it gave me the error code of output 8. I will update with a screenshot of the Terminal

What can I do to cancel my fusion drive and try to start over again?

any help would be greatly appreciated...

I don't know about you, but I thought that the HARD disk must be placed in the Bay of optics and the SSD drive in the HARD drive Bay where the original HARD drive is.

So, have you tried to reverse the readers in the bays (SSD in a drive Bay HARD and HARD drive in the Bay optical) and recreate your Fusion drive and then either restore or install OS X?

  • Toshiba Q300 480 GB HARD drive does not start after migration

    Hello

I bought a disc of Q300 489 GB to replace a small 840EVO of Samsung. I used the toshiba tool to clone the smallest to the largest player. However when the clone is finished and the reboot of the machine the machine hangs just at the start of the process (before starting windows 10). If I go back to my little samsung it starts without a problem.

I tried to treat twice with NTIEcho and also tried with Partition AOMEI tool, all attempts have failed to start on the Q300 drive.

I am just tempted to refer the reader to Ebuyer, getting another Samsung. Maybe Toshiba can tell me how to get the drive working properly?

    Regards Sean

PS. can someone direct me to a page where I can raise a ticket of Toshiba, I would be grateful. There seems to be some links broken on the UK site.

    Hello.
Do you have an error message when the operating system does not start? Appearing in AOMEI Partition Wizard you have been used during the replacement of the Samsung drive?
After the largest disk cloning, you may need to change the boot settings in the BIOS or to remove the previous Samsung drive to test.

  • After the new HARD drive does not start installation Qosmio G15

I just got this G15 last week and one of the hard drives was bad. Put it in a new Bay 2 and it does not start. I took it back and it starts fine. I even changed the main hard drive Bay 2 HD and it starts up fine with a hard drive. It's something to do with the scores, I think. Any help appreciated.

    Hello
I think that the boot order has been the bad HARD drive in the BIOS.
At the new disk you do not installed any OS, and in my opinion, this is a reason for starting problems.
Simply access the BIOS and change the boot order

  • VMware Workstation 10 bug: DVD SATA drive does not start if we disable the floppy drive in the VMware BIOS

    Hello

I use VMware Workstation 10, and I found a bug:

With the all-new virtual machine (for example with Windows 8 x 64), if I choose a hard SATA and SATA DVD drive in VMware and I have to disable the floppy drive in the VMware BIOS, Windows 8 (or Windows 7) ISO does not start.

If I come back in the BIOS to enable the floppy drive once again, my ISO boot.

If I use the DVD IDE drive in VMware options, no problem if I disable the floppy drive.

    With "EFI mode", no bugs.

Please, can you solve this problem? Thank you

  • Hard drive does not start after the use of the recovery on USB Manager

The hard drive on HP G62t - 350 CTO Notebook to my newphew failed. I could create a USB recovery in the Recovery Manager. I installed a new 120 GB SSD. The original hard drive was bigger, do not remember now but 250 or 500 GB. I know that the recover the system after the hard is replaced (Windows 7) said "to avoid problems, install a hard drive as big or bigger than the replaced hard disk", but that's a question for later.

Computer started fine of USB (in fact, is set to boot from USB if present by default). Recovery Manager starts. I choose minimum installation. He goes through the process of partitioning the SSD and copying files. Said so to remove the external media and restart, the computer will restart several times during the process, blah, blah, blah. I get out of USB and restarted, but after POST I get "no bootable media present.

If I try to reboot, leaving the USB in, it starts in USB and that we are at the beginning. I am able to confirm with a rescue disk, the SSD has an NTFS partition that had Windows files copied to it and a large amount of unallocated space. (Something like 60% / 40%).

    So:

    1. How make bootable hard drive for, and if it was bootable, recovery processes complete?
    2. What is happening with the partitions? He creates the partition recovery first, and then after the start, the recovery partition installs the operating system? If so, I might have to give up this process because since I'm moving to smaller storage, I don't want to devote half of the drive to a recovery partition.
    3. Official recovery media help? A technician told me that he would do so, but couldn't explain to my satisfaction why the USB I created with Recovery Manager does not work, so I'm suspicious of the assertion that the media created by HP as opposed to media created by me using the own HP software would be better, and since the computer is under warranty I don't want to spend $30 + to find out.

Most of the people who have installed an SSD that was smaller than the reader of the factory were unable to use any medium recovery HP with the SSD.

  • CD / DVD DRIVE DOES NOT START? SAYS CODE 10

I tired to uninstall the driver, and then restart the computer. It still does not work. When I go into the Device Manager, it says device will not start up, code.10. Is it possible to fix it? When I put a cd in, it sounds as if it will start, but doesn't.

    Try this.

Remove the filters, uninstall the driver and then restart the computer and wait a few minutes and try again.

No disc will eb read until this yellow device driver is first set.

  • WD1001FALS hard drive does not start in my dell dimension e520

I bought a hard drive of WD1001FALS Western digital 1 TB, only to discover, it is a hard drive to the mac. I have researched and formatted NTFS system with my old hard drive, but when I try to boot without the former that it does not load, just on the start screen. I installed windows xp on it. Help, please

Return it. Looks like it is defective.

  • RAID-1 failed, the second drive does not start in RAID

I bought a Dell 531 running Vista with RAID1 set up on two 300 GB drives.

And that works very well... but then the first disc got a bad place.

    Ideally, I could unplug this drive and run the other player;

However, the second disc has a RAID boot sector!

[he has a normal boot sector, so if I plug it into the unused (non-RAID) SATA-3 slot, it will start]

Should be no problem, just start the recovery DVDs and let Vista install a good start...

But NO!  The DVD version does not see the drive.  (I tried to load the sataraid drivers, no joy)

Note: if I have the drive failed in the RAID and the second drive in SATA-3, it starts to SATA-3.

If I put the two drives on the RAID, it starts on the failed disk.

Now I have a replacement for the defective drive.

How to make 'good' initialization as a RAID drive and rebuild the new drive?

How can I get a boot sector capable of Vista/Raid on the disc?

  • New hard drive does not start

I have a T61 with XP on it. The factory hard drive was beginning to show its age, so I got a 500GB WD Black drive for her. I used Acronis True Image to clone the old hard drive to the new. I used my counter top to do the cloning. When I plug the new disk in, the cursor just blinks and it will not start.

I thought that maybe the clone was bad, so I put the new drive hard back at the top of my desk and is able to boot all the way to the windows start screen. If I plug the old drive in the laptop, it starts very well, simply refuses to boot from the new drive.

    Guessed it.

Put the new hard drive into the computer, put the old hard drive in a USB enclosure and done a CD boot Acronis, and made the clone of the laptop. Runs like a champ and now flies.

  • New Vrtx with blades M630 - Shared Perc 8 driver does not start

We have a new (shipped this summer) Vrtx with blades M630.

After installing the initial OS (windows 2012 datacenter R2), were only two devices that have no driver installed - they were two raid controllers. The BONE was deployed via the lifecycle controller running the last package.

After doing the updates of windows, both these raid controllers have been updated to 'Shared Perc 8 '.

After the release of the pilot, the 8 "shared" perc has a driver 15/03/2013 6.801.5.0 pointing to windows\system32\drivers\percsas2.sys.

The driver has an error saying it cannot start (code 10). A card i/o hardware error has occurred.

I saw that you must obtain a driver for "shared perc 8 ' Dell. But I can't find this driver anywhere.

Does anyone know where to get a newer driver for this controller?

    Any help will be appreciated.

    AJ

    Journal of Angie,

The pilot Windows 2012 I think you need is located here. Let me know how it goes and if it resolves after the update.

  • G62: New hard drive does not start after recovery.

I installed a new hard drive after my old a bi dust.

I ran the recovery from the discs of HP.

After formatting the disk and copy files, it won't boot from the disk.

I changed the boot order and tested the drive in the BIOS.

    What Miss me?

The new hard drive sometimes requires to prepare first with utility cd from Cyberlink. Download and save the file. Once the download is complete, place a blank cd in your drive and click on the file to create a boot cd. Start with this cd and wait until you get a green check mark indicates the hard disk is ready. Remove the cd, insert the first disc of recovery and restart the laptop.
