• Help recover lost memos in Palm OS by Access 6.4.0

  Hello

  I use Palm OS by Access 6.4.0 Desktop software. I used to use a Palm Zire handheld computer, but now to store all my notes and contacts on the desktop version. I opened the software Palm OS today to discover that all my memos are not displayed. When I look in the Palm Desktop under 'My Documents' file I see the following:

  MemoPad.bak that shows as a file BAK - modified 08/05/2012

  MemoPad.bak.back that shows as a file BAK - modified 08/05/2012

  Notebook (no extension file on this one) shows a file "Microsoft Access" - modified on 12/06/2014

  MemoPad.mdb.bak that shows as a BAK - modified file on 01/06/2014

  UiPrefs.dat which shows as a DAT file - modified on 13/06/2014

  The memo files were visible and functional the last time I recall to work with them, who were around June 1, 2014.

  Any suggestions on how I could do to get back my notes?

  OK, looking at my Palm Desktop memo files, I have the same files, but the size of the files is all the same!

  As you can see "Memo" in Palm Desktop, I would skip the first suggestion.

  First thing to do: copy the entire folder "Memo" somewhere else for safety.  Close to Palm Desktop, if it is still open.

  (BTW, you should ALWAYS close the program Palm Desktop 6.2.2 before turning off your computer!)  This version has a known bug in data loss if the execution of the program and the computer is turned off.)

  I use Windows 8.1, but I think that the file Explorer has the same appearance.  Open Explorer files on your computer, access the Memo file, then click on 'View' in the menu bar.   Look to the right of the option and see if the "file name Extensions" is selected.  If this is not the case, check it.

  Now, look at the files.  We will rename two of them.

  Change:

  MemoPad.mdb (the file without extension) to MemoPad.OLD

  MemoPad.bak to MemoPad.mdb

  Now re-open Palm Desktop and cross your fingers!    Let me know what happens.

• Z22 all data lost palm desktop Memo / can not recover

  Hello

  When I opened my z22 office program I got an error message saying roughly memo cannot be opened, it may have saved a '.dat' file but I can't find anything.

  None of my memos exist on the desktop anymore, thankfully, they remain on the z22 because it was not plugged in.

  I did nothing different than usual, I have no hotsync etc..

  I use firefox, windows vista home basic sp2 32-bit T1500.

  I tried to open the Palm as an administrator, but it changed nothing.

  Have you tried restarting the computer?

  When a computer malfunctions, there is always a chance that something might go wrong!  I can't guarantee anything across your screen...

  You could try the option "repair" in Palm Desktop.  Go to Tools/Options/tools and use the check now button to see if it can repair damaged databases.

  If it were my PDA, I'll try what I suggested.  If you have another Palm OS device handy, try beaming the data to the other device as a backup before you attempt a HotSync.   Don't forget to put the duct as I mentioned - "Pocket replaces Desktop" for the data you want to transfer.  Do not click the box for "Set as default" - you want this happen only once as a test.

  Connect your device and launch the BlackBerry Desktop Software select the Application. Wait it update your list of applications, there will be a list of your applications, as well installed and available to scroll down and select Notepad by clicking on + to add, and then click on apply. Block-memo will be installed on your device.

• Assistant (DTA) data transfer transferred some of my Contacts, none of my calendar or Memo files

  When I ran the DTA at 5:30 PM PST yesterday, he said he had picked up ~ 4100 chronogram (Palm Desktop 6.2), with the exception of 20 files of calendar, which was very good.
  
  On my old Palm device, he said I had ~ 1300 address book records, ~ 2000 Date record book and ~ 850 record Memo. So when the DTA said he had picked up ~ 4100 records, which seemed all right.
  
  When you are prompted on my pre, I chose to sync my data with Google.
  
  Immediately after this one-time transfer process, I checked my pre, and there is no record of my old Palm Desktop Contacts, calendar, or PRE memos. I thought that I should wait to see what happens.
  
  About 7:30 PM PST yesterday, slightly more than half of my Contacts has appeared in Google Contacts section 'My Contacts' (725 total) and on my pre. The same recordings were in Google Contacts and on my Palm Pre. Furthermore, none of my calendar or Memo files had been transferred more to my pre or Google (for the calendar).
  
  I thought that maybe the data transfer was still running, so I waited all night.
  
  Since this morning 9:45 AM PST, nothing has changed.
  
  My Pre and Google seem to have incomplete data:
  -slightly more than half of records from address book Palm Desktop 6.2 made to my pre / Google
  -any of the records in Palm Desktop 6.2 Agenda made my pre / Google
  -any of the records in Palm Desktop 6.2 memos made my pre / Google
  
  SUMMARY: I'm extremely frustrated. The only thing that I have always enjoyed with Palm devices has been the opportunity to upgrade to the new Palm devices and carry my existing data. The one-time transfer of DTA to pre process is very buggy. Somewhere after the DTA extracts data from my Palm Desktop (~ 4100 records), most of these documents have been lost. It is a horrible customer experience.

  I did some online research, and the author of the following article also fell on a similar problem:

  I have tested and verified that when I create a new record on my pre calendar, he gets sync would correctly in Google Calendar and vice versa (new record created in Google Calendar sync does get would be my pre). It is very good for new data. But what of my thousands of existing data records? All these anniversaries, critical telephone numbers, addresses, etc.?

  Before this experience Pre DTA, I've that Palm had their pretty solid synchronization architecture, while the Apple iPhone synchronization architecture (via iTunes) was poor. But at least iPhone na not lose all records along the way.

  So I figured out how to get all my Contacts to load into my pre.

  Initially, I tried to transfer my data using DTA to Google instead of Palm profile. Several times I tried to run the DTA to transfer my contacts from Palm Desktop 6.2 to Google contacts. Whenever I tried to do, at some point, sync Google contacts folders would stop permanently, until all records have been transferred to the course. You can find out how many records have been sync'd to a given pre Contacts by clicking on Preferences & accounts by clicking on the account. You will see the number of contacts.

  So I decided to try to use the Palm profile as the storage for my Contacts and calendar, and all my Contact records (total 1372) was migrated successfully on the Meadow

  The pre now displays contact records in my pre Contacts as I expect: I see the files I transferred over my Palm Desktop. And because I added a Gmail contacts, Gmail addresses friends get "linked" to the corresponding Contacts automatically.

  Summary: my recommendation is that, for the DTA transfer process, you choose to store (backup) your Contacts (and calendar) on the Palm profile. Of course, the downside of this approach is data that has been created on your Pre will not be displayed in Google Contacts and Google Calendar. Of course, you can choose to add your Google accounts on your Pre to your Contacts and calendar, which is what I did. This makes the Chronogram of your Gmail contacts and introduce you to Google Calendar on your Pre. For example, I added the calendar we vacation on Google Calendar. And now these holiday appear on my Pre calendar.

  In all cases, the photos I got from iPhoto photo stream, but I don't see anywhere the voice memos on icloud.com. They get automatically backed up somewhere?

  Voice memos are automatically saved as part of a backup, however...

  1. You can only find them by restoring your back up to a new phone.
  2. Notes recent (those taken since your last backup) will be unavailable.

  You would see only the error every time you hotsync, nothing more. The thing is though if you really a mistake you don't know until you watch the hotsync log.

• New PC lost origional install disc and cannot install using download

  I got a new PC and have lost my installation disk forr my T2 Tunston.  I tried to install using the download of version 4.1.4 from the website, but no luck.  When I try to open the program I get an error message 'To Palm Desktop Application encurred has a problem and needs to close'.

  I tried without the device connected and plugged in, and get the same error.

  My PC has an Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q9400 @ 266GHZ with a 500G drive.  I am running Windows XP Pro.

  Sounds like your data crashing on Palm Desktop.

  This is your calendar or contacts, the origin of the problem.

  Steps to resolve

  1. go to C:/program files/palm/Hotsync ID
  2. in this folder find another folder called Agenda
  3 delete the file datebook.dat from here and place it on desktop
  4. go into the folder called address
  5 remove the file address.dat from here and place it on desktop
  6. Palm desktop logon attempt
  IF it opens continue

  7. go to tools/options and change the agenda memo application starts
  8. go to C:/program files/palm/Hotsync ID
  9. in this folder find another folder called Agenda
  10. take the file datebook.dat on the desktop and the place in the file
  11 choose to replace the file
  12 go in the folder called address
  13 take the file address.dat on the desktop and the place in the file
  14 choose to replace the file
  15 restart the Palm desktop computer
  16 go in tools/options/tools
  17 select difficulty corrupt files.
  18 office palm close re opened

  Everything should work fine. If you want to you can then change the start of the application to the agenda.

  Time Machine backup to a sparsebundle.

  The sparsebundle will use the share name of computer. So, it should be obvious who is your Macbook and that is your Macpro.

  I've never heard a backup report bugs, however if you are interested in, you can always restore the device as good as new.
