lost my catalogs in my lightroom and backing up

I was using lightroom and had access to all my catalogs. then he got stuck when I try to synchronize and add new photos to the existing catalog.  now, all the catelogs disappeared and he only asks me to import or export thousands and thousands of images of my original photo files that I had already imported from.  I decided to plug in my back to see if it was different and the backup cannot find the catelogs either.  Furthermore, all my photos and lr are on a separate external hard drive.  tried to look for the disk on the computer and hard and can't find it.

now, all the catelogs disappeared

What does that mean? How do you know they're gone?

Please do a search using the search function of your operating system, for all files whose name ends in. LRCAT and then open each found by double-clicking on it to see if it's the catalogue with photos.

Using LR CC and CC PS.  Sending photo of LR to PS to edit and resave in the PS, the photo does not turn upward in LR.  I have to close and reopen LR to get it to appear as an extra photo in LR. Is this normal in CC?

    Hi dglas_1,

This isn't the right thing for the images not showing in Lightroom.

However, you said that after the reopening of Lightroom, the images show, then I would say to please close Lightroom and delete the file Previews.lrdata (same location of the Lightroom Catalog).

Lightroom, and then reopen and then try to edit an image in Lr to PS.

  • I've moved the photos on my computer and lost all the corrections in Lightroom

I recently decided that it would be "a good idea" to reorganize my pictures on my computer and hard drive.

It's simply put some in new folders on my computer and the external hard drive root and join others completely turned off the computer, only on the external HARD drive.

Anyway, when I went back in lightroom, I saw that a lot of my photos were grey and saying "cannot locate the original file. I thought nothing of it and started re - synchronize folders.

Once the synchronization is complete I went back into lightroom and noticed that if I was still all my original RAW files all corrections to the disappeared.

Is there anyway to get this back?

Thank you very much in advance for your suggestions!

Synchronize think records the pictures that he found were NINE photos as LIghtroom had never seen before and these photos have so no retouching.

Synchronize is not the way to solve these problems "cannot locate the original file. Indeed, not only does it fail to solve the problem, it does often worse, as you saw.

To go back, the simplest method is to restore a recent backup copy of your Lightroom catalog file before all of this movement of photo files. Find the latest backup of all your photos, and then restore to the original location. Then, everything should work fine, and then we can advise on how better to "reorganize my pictures on my computer and hard drive.

I don't know if it will work, but I would try it if all else fails - recover corrupted catalog using SQLite: http://www.simplyness.com/more-photography-tips/recover-corrupted-unrepairable-lightroom-3 - catalog - with - sqlite.html

Using Windows Explorer, go to the folder containing the catalog, it is usually inside the images folder.

Delete the file that ends with the extension .lock. Do not remove anything else, now launch Lightoom.

  • Is it possible to edit a DNG file in Photoshop and back to Lightroom?

    Hello

The title of the question probably explains well what I'm looking for...

I shot in RAW and then converted to DNG, I love DNG and I do not understand what so many people have against it, in any case that is not the point...

I know have as my digital negative DNG format instead of the original RAW file, and I'm starting to make some changes in Lightroom. But then I realized that Lightroom is not enough for something I want to do. For example, just today I got this photo that I needed to remove some people and I had to use clone/heal but as you know, Lightroom clone and heal features are not as flexible as those in Photoshop.

So now, I need to go into Photoshop, photo trouble and back to Lightroom and continue my editing. However, I couldn't find a way to do it how I wanted to do... What I did open up the original (unreleased) DNG in Photoshop, Adobe Camera Raw is displayed and I ignore it, remove the people from the photo and save it as a TIFF. Then, back in Lightroom, I open the new TIFF edited and copy the Lightroom settings from one photo (DNG) to another (the TIFF edited).

This workflow sucks and I know that there are a few options in Lightroom to automate it, but again, I don't think that would solve my problem. At least, I couldn't find a way to do...

What I wanted to do instead was indeed withdraw people from the photo with Photoshop, but without these changes in DNG. But take a note here that these changes could be very destructive, I don't speak of the non-destructive editing in ACR or Lightroom, the abductees would be gone forever unless I have to draw some new. I really want to edit and save changes to the DNG format in Photoshop and keep publishing the DNG in Lightroom without using a TIFF file in the meantime, do everything in DNG format.

Is it possible or not at all?

Sorry, can't do... Ain t going to happen.

What you have done is hit the wall is the fundamental difference between duty lite photo level and healing tone and color correction of the tasks (Lightroom and Camera Raw) and pixel heavy retouching in Photoshop.

When you manipulate a lot 'pixels' you need to Photoshop and you will be forced to make the raw file as a TIFF or PSD file or by Camera Raw or better, through Lightroom.

You can make the correction of tone and color base directly in Lightroom and edit in Photoshop from Lightroom. But you will NEED create and save an image that is "rendered" which is no longer thought... then retouch to your heart's desire, save it and it'll be available in the original long side of your own Lightroom, if you choose.

But no, there is no way to open a raw in Photoshop, manipulate the heck out of it with editing massive then save that réécrirait as a raw file... Ain t going to happen.

  • Lightroom and windows10

I upgraded my Windows 10 office a few days ago. After the update, I signed on my microsoft account and everything was all set to level. I added about 2500 files in lightroom and then I used the mobile synchronization. I backed up my images to a closed player and lightroom. A few days later, I turned on my desktop and it says that my PC has fully upgraded and gave a tutorial and all the new features. After that everything was back to normal and I open lightroom to find all my pictures have disappeared. I tried to find the catalogue but it didn't exsist anywhere. I also tried to look through the recent catalogues and nothing showed up. Where's all my images? They are also not on my Tablet?

    Hi youric,

Search your computer for the .lrcat files that would list all Lightroom catalogs you have.

Also, look for backup catalogs if you saved after you have used the last time.

By default, backups are located under Pictures\Lightroom\Backups

Recovery of DNG issue: I have photos stored on an external hard drive which have previously been imported into Lightroom and converted to DNG.  The laptop on which I was running Lightroom died and I had to replace the hard drive and rebuild the computer.  In the process of my Lightroom program and catalog related to these images have been lost.  When I re-associate these photos with my new installation of Lightroom and a new catalogue is there a way to retrieve the keywords or other changes or metadata catalogue Mountaga?  Is any of this information embedded with the imge DNG file or was it only in the cataloght lost on my failing hard drive? I re-import just as if it were new images with no prior treatment of Lightroom?

By default, LR saves all changes in the catalog, and that applies to any type of file.

Optionally, you can save changes to the file as well, for raw files owners, this will create a xmp file - for DNG that changes are going to be cooked in the file, without additional xmp file.

But it does not default. Go to the catalog and parameters under the control of metadata automatically save changes to XMP.

Unless you do this, the changes are saved only in the catalog.

    Hope this makes things clearer.

  • I bought a Mac Book Pro how to integrate lightroom and creative cloud

How can I integrate creative cloud with a Mac Book Pro?

I currently use Windows 7 file system to store my photos in Lightroom.   I have dng files from lightroom in a directory of files on it and export to email and various functions in the subdirectories.   How does in the Mac Book Pro?

    Howie

Thanks, I'll check the users /CurrentlyLoggedOnUserName folder.   Of course, I would also like to migrate the library of Lightroom for my MacBook Pro file.  Would you know how to do this?

In my youth, I was Lockheed Martin systems engineer.  I retired after 30 years.  But I was removed about three quarters of the total time, I worked for LM.   I still miss.  I build my own computers using Gigabyte motherboards.  It is now time for a new putter.  But I think Microsoft gets lost.  Bill made some wrong choices back in the 1950s.  But there was no way for him to see the future.  I wonder how Steve was able to design a system that is as safe today as it was at the time of the 2nd of Apple.    OS X and IOS running on hardware apples with apples approved, software Virus protection and using the Apple servers.  Microsoft is trying to catch up.  But I think it's a little late for that.  I supports several major charitable organizations.  The vast majority of the members of the staff of charities have a lot of problems with Windows 8, 8.1, and 10 is not much better.  Then, before I lose more money, I'm deserting a ship.  Currently I'm learning that a Mac Book Pro to full charge.  And when uncomfortable with the M.B.P., I replace my desktop Windows mini server with a Mac Pro system.  Support for Win 7 has been interrupted.

Learning new things is good for the sole.  This will be fun.  Here's to the next thirty years!

  • How can I uninstall 8 and back to 7?

I can't stand that constant stream of updates. Once more, FF break important extensions with an upgrade frequent unnecessarily.

Enough. I can't stand these unnecessary hassle. The main reason I use FF instead of others is the extension available. Keep break extensions... and he lost not only my time but it means that I can use as something else, right?

How can I get rid of 8 and back to 7?

Morning coffee and ghostery both of them are compatible with Firefox 8

You can use addon compatibility reporter to use incompatible addon

  • Keep the dng or CR2 files when switching from Lightroom and Photoshop.

From Lightroom and Photoshop, how can I keep the dng or CR2 files. Now it changes the psd and when I return to Lightroom it removes options in the section of Calibration of the camera, so that while I have a choice (Adobe Standard/camera faithful), after returning from Photoshop file I have "Embedded." How can I keep the dng or CR2 files

Adding to the good advice of Alfred - a raw file cannot be registered as the other files.

Its only use is the basis for the creation of new files, which must be regular files, such as tiff, psd or jpg.

When you edit a raw file in Lightroom, it does not change the file, the changes are written to the catalog.

Optionally, save the changes in the form of metadata (xmp) sidecar files, or in the case of DNG in the file itself.
